Quintet of Browns cleared after receiving probable tag

(11/16/2014) Five key Browns players designated as probable for their Week 11 game against visiting Houston have received the thumbs-up for action. They are defensive linemen Billy Winn (toe) and Desmond Bryant (wrist), wideout Andrew Hawkins (thigh/knee), center Nick McDonald (calf) and linebacker Barkevious Mingo (shoulder).

(11/14/2014) The worst news for the Browns is that tight end Jordan Cameron (concussion) is out Sunday against Houston and could be done for the season, and defensive tackle Phillip Taylor (knee) is out for the year. But aside from special teams player Johnson Bademosi (concussion) being ruled out for the game against the Texans, the team is relatively healthy.

An exception could be safety Tashaun Gipson (concussion), who is questionable. The probables are defensive end Desmond Bryant (wrist), wideout Andrew Hawkins (thigh/knee), linebacker Barkevious Mingo (shoulder) and defensive tackle Billy Winn (toe).

Both Taylor and Winn were listed as questionable on the team's injury report. Taylor is dealing with a knee injury. Winn has a toe issue.

Taylor has not played since Week 5. His return could bolster a run defense that ranks second-last in the NFL.

(10/31/2014) The Browns listed 10 players on its final injury report leading up to Week 9 against Tampa Bay. Jordan Cameron (concussion) and Phillip Taylor (knee) were the only two players ruled out for Sunday. Rodney Smith is the only questionable on the list.

Meanwhile, Desmond Bryant (wrist), Jim Leonard (hamstring), Barkevious Mingo (shoulder), Ahtyba Rubin (ankle), Joe Thomas (rest), K'Waun Williams (shoulder, neck) and Billy Winn (quad) were all labeled probable.

Winn was limited in practice last week and wound up being inactive for the team's win over the Raiders. He's been out for three weeks with a quad injury.

Listed as questionable are defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin (ankle) and free safety Tashaun Gipson (thigh). The probables are defensive end Desmond Bryant (wrist), linebackers Barkevious Mingo (shoulder) and Paul Kruger (back) and featured back Ben Tate (finger).

Winn played in 11 games last season, recording 21 tackles and two sacks.

Defensive end Billy Winn (quad) hasn't played since Week 3, but is listed as questionable, as is linebacker Quentin Groves (ankle).

The others are probable. They include defensive end Desmond Bryant (thumb), running backs Willis McGahee (ankle) and Chris Ogbonnaya (ribs), cornerback Chris Owens (finger) and linebacker Jabaal Sheard (wrist).

(10/27/2013) The  Browns defense is in pretty good shape as far as injuries go for Week 8 against the Chiefs Sunday. Of six players listed on the injury report, only defensive lineman Billy Winn (quadriceps) and linebacker Quentin Groves (ankle) are inactive.

Outside linebacker Jabaal Sheard, who missed the last two games with a knee injury, has been upgraded to questionable with reports leaning toward him playing against the Lions. And fellow linebacker Quentin Groves (ankle) could also return after missing the last three games.

Meanwhile, defensive end Desmond Bryant, who left the Week 5 win over Buffalo with shortness of breath, has been deemed probable. Backup lineman Billy Winn (quad) has been ruled out.
