News: The Patriots drafted running backs Shane Vereen of Cal and Stevan Ridley of LSU in the 2011 NFL Draft, likely signaling the end of Fred Taylor's time with the team. Taylor will be a free agent this offseason.
Analysis: Taylor already said this offseason that he's "basically retired," so chances are he won't help Fantasy owners in 2011. Pass on him.
News: The Gainesville Sun reports that RB Fred Taylor said Saturday he is "basically retired." Taylor finished his 13th season in 2010 with the Patriots and played in just seven games with 43 carries for 155 yards and two catches for 6 yards. For his career, Taylor has 2,534 carries for 11,695 yards and 66 touchdowns with Jacksonville and New England. He also has 290 catches for 2,384 yards and eight touchdowns.
Analysis: While it's not official yet that Taylor is done, Fantasy owners shouldn't plan on using him in any leagues in 2011 even if he does return since his best days are clearly behind him. Keep an eye out for an official announcement, but ignore Taylor in all leagues on Draft Day.

Taylor has played in just seven games this season with 43 carries for 155 yards and two catches for 6 yards. For his career, which spans 13 seasons with New England and Jacksonville, Taylor has 2,534 carries for 11,695 yards and 66 touchdowns. He also has 290 catches for 2,384 yards and eight touchdowns.
Analysis: Taylor has been a great Fantasy option for many years, but he's past his prime at 34. Keep an eye out for an official announcement, but Taylor's best days as a Fantasy option are clearly behind him. Don't plan on drafting him in any leagues in 2011.
News: In a surprise move, Patriots RB Fred Taylor is listed among the team's inactives for the Week 15 game against the Packers. He was not on the team's injury report at any point this week.
Analysis: Taylor has again battled injuries throughout the season, but he was relatively healthy before becoming a healthy scratch Sunday night. This could be a small glimpse into his future in New England in just his second season. He should not have been active in Fantasy play either way.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor saw some action in Week 14 against the Bears. With his team up big late in the game, the 34-year-old gained 16 yards on three carries. Those were his only touches in the 36-7 win. Taylor finsihed third on New England in rushing behind BenJarvus Green-Ellis (87 yards) and Danny Woodhead (21 yards).
Analysis: After missing eight consecutive games due a toe injury, Taylor has gotten some touches the last two weeks. He carried the ball four times for 9 yards last Monday and topped that on Sunday. Fantasy owners should note that he has only played when the game was already in hand and he does not stand to compete for carries with Green-Ellis and Woodhead. With Green Bay up next on the schedule, continue to view Taylor as nothing more than a handcuff option in the deepest of Fantasy formats heading into Week 15.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor saw his first game action since the third game of the year in Week 13 against the Jets. With New England up big late in the fourth quarter, Taylor received four carries and gained 9 yards in the 45-3 win.
Analysis: Taylor missed most of the season due to a toe injury but has been active each of the last two weeks. But with BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead spearing heading the running game for New England, does not stand stand to see too many touches down the stretch. Continue to view Taylor as nothing more than a handcuff option in the deepest of Fantasy formats heading into Week 14 against the Bears.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor has not stated in each of the last eight games and will face a tough run defense in Week 13 against the Jets. New York ranks fourth in the NFL against the run, giving up 86.3 yards per game, and have allowed an average of 9.3 Fantasy points to opposing running backs. When the two teams met in Week 2, Taylor carried the ball five times for 11 yards.
Analysis: Taylor was active for the first time in awhile a week ago but he remains buried on the depth chart behind BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead. The Patriots could get him a few touches against the division rival on Monday night, but Fantasy owners should not have him starting in any format. Continue to stash Taylor away for Week 13 against the Jets.
News: After the Patriots made RB Fred Taylor active for their Thanksgiving Day game at Detroit, they didn't use him. Running backs BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead totaled 20 carries and helped the team roll to a victory.
Analysis: Taylor is clearly closer to coming back for New England, but when he does he's not expected to take many reps away from Green-Ellis and Woodhead, who have been excellent for many of the last several weeks. Taylor isn't worth owning in Fantasy play.
News:Fred Taylor is active for the Patriots Week 12 game at the Lions. The team is expected to give him a few reps to help him get his body ready for the postseason run. That does mean that BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead could see slightly less work than initially expected.
Analysis: Don't count on Taylor to help you in Fantasy unless you're absolutely desperate since he could see as few as five carries. When he's been healthy and active for the Patriots he's seen about twice as many, but the team is expected to be cautious with him. If you own Green-Ellis or Woodhead, it is worth monitoring Taylor's reps in the game to see how he looks and if he could potentially hurt their values heading into December.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) is listed as questionable for Week 12 at Detroit. He was limited in practice all week.
Analysis: Taylor was hoping to return to action for the first time since Week 3 in Week 11, but the Patriots kept him on the inactive list. With the way BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead have been performing out of the backfield for New England it was not a surprise. Even if Taylor dresses on Thanksgiving, he probably won't see more than a few touches, so don't plan on using him in Fantasy.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) went through limited practice reps Tuesday as the team prepares for its Thanksgiving day showdown with Detroit in Week 12. Taylor has not played since Week 3.
Analysis: With the way BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead have been performing out of the backfield for New England, even if Taylor finally suits up in Week 12, we doubt he will assume the brunt of the workload. Continue to stash Taylor in larger Fantasy formats until further notice.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) was able to practice on a limited basis on Monday as he prepares for Week 12 against the Lions. He has been inactive for each of the last seven games.
Analysis: Taylor has not played since Week 3 and will most likely continue to sit behind BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead on the team's depth chart once healthy. He has 98 yards on 25 carries in three games this season. Fantasy owners should check back to see if he will be able to play in Week 12 against the Lions. If healthy enough to go on Thanksgiving, Taylor will only be worth using as a low-end Fantasy RB in the deepest of leagues.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor was inactive for the seventh straight game in Week 11 against the Colts as he continues to deal with a toe injury. He has 98 yards on 25 carries in three games this season.
Analysis: Taylor has not played since Week 3 and will most likely continue to sit behind BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead on the team's depth chart once healthy. Fantasy owners should check back to see if he will be able to play in Week 12 against the Lions. Continue to stash Taylor away in the deepest of Fantasy leagues.
News: The Boston Herald reports that Patriots RB Fred Taylor said Friday his injured toe is much improved and that he hopes to get some work in Week 11 vs. Indianapolis. I feel pretty good. I had a better week of practice, and ultimately, you guys know as well as I do, its coachs decision at the end of the day, Taylor said. So Ill just stay patient and wait and see what that call is at the end of the day.
Analysis: If Taylor does play in Week 11, he would most likely continue to sit behind BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead on the team's depth chart, so he remains a risky Fantasy play for now. You have to figure he will be eased into the RB rotation once he's even more healthy, but we'll just have to see how things play out with the veteran and his Fantasy value going forward.
News: For the second straight day Thursday, Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) saw limited action in practice as the team prepares for the Week 11 game against the Colts. He was limited throughout last week, but still was among the inactives on game day. Taylor has not played since Week 3 because of the injury.
Analysis: Taylor, even if he does play in Week 11, would most likely continue to sit behind BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead on the team's depth chart, so he remains a risky Fantasy play for now. You have to figure he will be eased into the RB rotation once healthy.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) practiced in limited participation Wednesday as the team prepares for the Week 11 game against the Colts. He practiced on the same limited basis throughout last week, but still was listed among the inactives on Sunday.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) is officially inactive for the Week 10 game against the Steelers. He had been ruled out by the team on Saturday. Taylor has now missed every game since Week 3.
Analysis: Taylor still sits behind BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead on the team's depth chart, so he would have been a risky Fantasy play even if he was able to play. For now, stash Taylor in deeper formats and monitor his status for Week 11 against the Colts.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) has been downgraded from questionable to out of the Week 10 game against the Steelers. Taylor was able to practice on a limited basis throughout the week and said he was feeling better. He has not played since Week 3 because of the injury.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor practiced for a third straight day Friday and said his injured toe feel good. Its getting better, Taylor said. Its continuing to get better. Havent been any setbacks, been a productive week. So, just go from there. He is listed as questionable for the Week 10 game at Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Continue to monitor Taylor's progress up until Sunday evening to see if he's able to play against the Steelers, but only the bravest of Fantasy owners would dare wait on his status. We would expect BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead to remain ahead of Taylor on the depth chart, but he could still get a few touches against Pittsburgh if he's able to play in this matchup. He would not be worth starting in the majority of leagues, especially against the NFL's best run defense.
News: The Boston Globe reports Patriots RB Fred Taylor was able to practice for a second day in a row Thursday. Taylor has been dealing with an injured toe since Week 3, and he could return in Week 10 at the Steelers, a team he has faced many times throughout his career. "I understand this team. I know them really well," Taylor said. "It's the same guys (with few exceptions). The personnel doesn't change. ... If the opportunity is there, I'd love it."
Analysis: Continue to monitor Taylor's progress to see if he's able to play against the Steelers.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor was back at practice Wednesday for the first time since Week 3. He said he had two turf toes, and isn't sure when he'll be back. Well see how it goes, he said. Im just happy to get to the point I am. The last six or seven weeks have been pretty frustrating. Just gotta keep grinding it out.
Analysis: Taylor is obviously a lot closer to returning to the field than he has been, but he will face the league's best run defense in Week 10 if he's healthy enough for Sunday's matchup at Pittsburgh. He will also probably just spell starter BenJarvus Green-Ellis, so continue to just stash the veteran away in deeper Fantasy formats for now.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe), who was ruled out earlier this week, was on the inactive list as expected for Week 9 at Cleveland.
Analysis: Taylor might be getting a little closer to returning to the field, but he's only likely to spell BenJarvus Green-Ellis once that happens. Continue to stash the fragile veteran away in just very deep Fantasy formats.
News: The Patriots have ruled out RB Fred Taylor for their Week 9 game at Cleveland. Taylor has not practiced since getting injured in Week 3.
Analysis: Taylor might be getting a little closer to returning to the field, but he's only likely to spell BenJarvus Green-Ellis once that happens. Continue to stash the fragile veteran away in just very deep Fantasy formats.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) remained sidelined in practice on Thursday and still hasn't taken the field since injuring himself in Week 3. He is unlikely to return to action in Week 9 against the Browns.
Analysis: Unless Taylor returns to a full workload on Friday, his chances of playing in Week 9 remain bleak. Fantasy owners should not be preparing to have Taylor available this week.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) remained absent from practice Wednesday. Taylor has not practiced since he was injured against Buffalo in Week 3. The Patriots visit the Browns in Week 9.
Analysis: Taylor continues to be sidelined with this toe issue and is clearly not healing particularly well. He remains only worth stashing in the deepest of Fantasy formats.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) was ruled out on Friday for Week 8 vs. Minnesota. He now hasn't played in five straight weeks.
Analysis: Coach Bill Belichick is apparently in no hurry to rush Taylor back to the field with the way Danny Woodhead and BenJarvus Green-Ellis have been effective. Continue to stash Taylor in only the deepest of Fantasy leagues.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) sat out practice again on Thursday as New England prepares for Week 8 against the Vikings. Taylor hasn't practiced since getting injured in Week 3.
Analysis: It's unlikely Taylor will return to action in Week 8 as he continues to miss practice. But it's not like coach Bill Belichick would even clue us in, if Taylor was ready. Luckily for the Patriots is that Danny Woodhead and BenJarvus Green-Ellis are getting the job done in Taylor's absence, so there is no need to rush back the veteran RB. Keep Taylor reserved for Fantasy Week 8.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) was still absent from practice Wednesday. Taylor has not practiced since he was injured against Buffalo in Week 3. The Patriots host the Vikings in Week 8.
Analysis: Lucky for the Patriots, they have managed to survive without Taylor since Danny Woodhead and BenJarvus Green-Ellis are doing a solid job in the backfield. Sammy Morris has also been involved. It's unlucky for Taylor and his owners, however, that he is still sitting out. If you've been sitting on Taylor, you should probably consider a healthier alternative off the waiver wire.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) has been officially ruled out for Week 7 at San Diego. He has not practiced since getting injured in Week 3. Danny Woodhead and BenJarvus Green-Ellis will once again fill in for Taylor.
Analysis: This continues to be a disappointing development for Taylor. Injuries continue to limit his effectiveness. Lucky for the Patriots, they have managed to survive without Taylor since Woodhead and Green-Ellis are doing a solid job in the backfield. Continue to keep Taylor stashed away in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) was still absent from practice on Thursday. Taylor has not practiced since he was injured against Buffalo in Week 3. The Patriots play the Chargers in Week 7.
Analysis: Lucky for the Patriots, they have managed to survive without Taylor since Danny Woodhead and BenJarvus Green-Ellis are doing a solid job in the backfield . It's unlucky for Taylor and his owners, however, that he is still sitting out. It doesn't look like he will return in Week 7, so don't plan on activating Taylor in Fantasy.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor continued to miss practice Wednesday as New England began preparations for its Week 7 game at San Diego.
Analysis: Taylor has been dealing with this toe problem for almost a month now and hasn't been seen on any kind of football field since Week 3. With Danny Woodhead and BenJarvus Green-Ellis doing a solid job in the backfield at the moment, there doesn't seem to be a reason for the Pats to push their veteran RB, so Taylor might well sit again in Week 7 when New England heads west to face the Chargers. Continue to stash Taylor away in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) was listed among the inactives as expected for Week 6 vs. Baltimore.
Analysis: Taylor has been dealing with this toe injury for about a month now, and it's clearly still bothering him quite a bit. Continue to stash him away in deeper Fantasy formats if you have the room.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) missed practice yet again Friday as New England finished up preparations for its Week 6 game against the Ravens. He has been ruled out for the contest.
Analysis: Taylor has been dealing with this toe injury for about a month now, and it's clearly still bothering him quite a bit. Expect the veteran to be inactive for this Week 6 contest against the tough Ravens and continue to stash him away in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) remained absent at practice Thursday as New England continued preparations for its Week 6 game vs. Baltimore. He has not practiced since Week 3, when he was injured against Buffalo.
Analysis: There was some hope earlier this week that Taylor would play vs. the Ravens on Sunday, but the chances of that happening look slim at the moment. Continue to stash the veteran away in deeper Fantasy formats.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) was absent from practice again Wednesday. He has not practiced since Week 3, when he was injured against Buffalo. There was some hope earlier this week that he would play vs. the Ravens in Week 6.
Analysis: Taylor's status for Week 6 against the Ravens is way up in the air at the moment, but even if he was healthy, only a crazy person would dare use him against the stellar Ravens. Continue to stash him away in deeper formats for now.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) didn't practice Tuesday, but he's making progress, although it is unclear whether he will play in Week 6 against Baltimore, coach Bill Belichick said.
Analysis: Taylor might return as the starter against the Ravens, but Green-Ellis is clearly the best RB for the Patriots going forward based on his play the past two games. Keep an eye on Taylor's status against Baltimore, but don't plan on using him even if he's able to return.
News: Patriots coach Bill Belichick said during his Monday press conference that RB Fred Taylor could return in Week 6 against Baltimore. Taylor missed Week 4 at Miami with a toe injury, and the Patriots had a bye in Week 5. With Taylor out, BenJarvus Green-Ellis has assumed the starting role for the Patriots in the backfield. "Well see how it goes," Belichick said. "Hes definitely doing better. Well see what happens tomorrow when we go out there, get everybody loosened up. Come in and have treatment today, get everybody loosened up ready to go tomorrow and see how much each of the players can do. Well just take it day by day. "
Analysis: Taylor might return as the starter against the Ravens, but Green-Ellis is clearly the best RB for the Patriots going forward based on his play the past two games. Keep an eye on Taylor's status against Baltimore, but don't plan on using him even if he's able to return.
News: The Boston Globe reports an NFL source says Patriots RB Fred Taylor is trying to overcome a nagging turf toe injury, but there is a good chance he will return to action after New England's Week 5 bye. The Patriots play the Ravens in Week 6. Taylor was inactive for Week 4 against the Dolphins.
Analysis: Taylor had a pretty productive Week 1, averaging 5.1 yards per on 14 carries. Then, he got just 11 carries the next two weeks and totaled 27 rushing yards because of the injury. The rest will probably help Taylor, but it's highly unlikely he will be asked to carry the ball 20-plus times per game upon his return. Especially since BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Danny Woodhead have proven to be capable options in Taylor's absence. If Taylor does return in Week 6, he will probably be more of a No. 3 Fantasy RB or flex option at best.
News: As expected, Patriots RB Fred Taylor has been ruled inactive for Week 4 against the Dolphins. Taylor did not practice all week as he was dealing with a toe injury.
Analysis: With Laurence Maroney being traded, Kevin Faulk on injured reserve and now the injury to Taylor, look for BenJarvus Green-Ellis and possibly Danny Woodhead to do some damage in the running game for the Patriots. As far as Taylor is concerned, he should be reserved in all Fantasy leagues for Week 4.
News: New England RB Fred Taylor is officially out for the Week 4 game in Miami on Monday night. Taylor missed practice four consecutive days after he couldn't go on Saturday with his toe injury.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) missed practice for a third straight day Friday, making his chances of playing in Week 4 against the Dolphins slim. Miami rank 19th against the run this season, allowing 117.3 yards a game.
Analysis: With New England's Week 4 game coming on Monday night, Taylor will get an extra day to rest his toe, but this injury has been lingering for a little while now and will likely continue to bother him unless he either takes some extended time off or deals with this problem surgically. Taylor is technically the starting RB when healthy, and if he can't play on Monday night, BenJarvus Green-Ellis will go in his place. For now, continue to stash Taylor away in deeper Fantasy formats, as he's unlikely to play Week 4.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) missed a second straight day of practice Thursday as New England prepares for their Week 4 game at Miami.

News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor did not practice Wednesday after leaving a Week 3 win over the Bills with a re-occurrence of his recent toe injury.

News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor left New England's Week 3 game vs. Buffalo with a re-occurrence of his recent toe injury in the third quarter.
Analysis: Taylor had 16 yards on six carries before leaving the game as the Patriots continue to use a committee in the backfield. Taylor might need some time off to rest this problematic toe injury, so his owners should keep a close eye on his status heading into Week 4 at Miami. If he can't play, BenJarvus Green-Ellis will likely get the majority of carries in his place.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe), who was probable for Week 3 vs. Buffalo, will play in the game after not being listed among the inactives.
Analysis: Taylor rushed for 71 yards in the season opener, but managed just 11 yards last week on five carries. While the loss of RB Kevin Faulk to a torn ACL might help Taylor's cause, the way Belichick uses his running backs always works against his Fantasy owners as you just never know whether it's going to be Taylor, BenJarvus Green-Ellis or Sammy Morris who will get the majority of carries from week to week. If you must use Taylor in Week 3 in a very deep league, do so as just an emergency flex option.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (toe) fully participated in practice Friday and is listed as probable for Sunday's Week 3 game vs. Buffalo. He will face a Bills defense that ranks 15th against the run yardage-wise, but has allowed a league-high three rushing touchdowns this season. Taylor faced the Bills only once last season, going for 25 yards and a score on nine carries.

Taylor faced the Bills only once last season, going for 25 yards and a score on nine carries. He was limited in Thursdays practice due to an injured toe.
Analysis: Consider Taylor's injury a minor concern, especially considering Bill Belichick's reputation as a tight-lipped coach when it comes to injuries.Taylor rushed for 71 yards in the season opener, but managed just 11 yards last week on five carries.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor rushed for 71 yards on 14 carries in the season opener but had a harder time against the Jets in Week 2. He broke off a huge run on the opening play but had it called back to to an illegal formation penalty. After that the 34-year-old carried the ball just five times for 11 yards.
Analysis: Taylor was the starting running back in Week 2 but lost carries later on in the game to Kevin Faulk and BenJarvus Green-Ellis. With Laurence Maroney no longer in the mix in New England, Fantasy owners would have hoped for some better production out of the former Gator but the Jets defense proved to be a little too tough. Taylor is on the tail-end of his career but could still be a valuable Fantasy option if he can get things going against the Bills in Week 3. In six career games against Buffalo, Taylor has rushed for 411 yards and two touchdowns. Keep Taylor stashed as a reserve in deep Fantasy leagues.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor was listed as active for Week 2 against the Jets. He was limited by a toe injury on Wednesday but returned to full practice on Thursday. He will face off against a Jets defense in Week 2 that gave up just 49 yards on the ground in their opener. In five career games against New York, Taylor has toted the rock 119 times for 516 yards and three touchdowns.
Analysis: Taylor started in Week 1 against the Bengals, running for 71 yards on 14 carries, and might be in for a boost in value now that Laurence Maroney is no longer in the mix. Unfortunately, Taylor has a tough matchup in Week 2 with the Jets, so should be considered just a low-end flex option in deeper leagues for now.

News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor was limited in practice Wednesday with a toe injury as New England prepares for their Week 2 tilt at the Jets.
Analysis: Taylor started in Week 1 against the Bengals, running for 71 yards on 14 carries, and appeared to be in for a boost in value when Laurence Maroney was dealt to the Broncos earlier this week. Hopefully the guy who has the nickname 'Fragile Fred' can shake off this issue and be ready for Sunday's contest, although the Jets have a tough defense. Taylor will be only a low-end flex option in deeper leagues for Week 2.
News: With the Patriots trading away Laurence Maroney to the Broncos, it looks clear that Fred Taylor is the most prominent running back in New England for Fantasy use. Taylor led the Pats with 71 yards on 14 carries in Week 1, and by all signs it looks like he'll continue to shoulder the load for the Patriots on the ground, including in Week 2 at the Jets.
Analysis: Taylor will run into a defense that limited Ray Rice to just over 60 total yards on Sunday, and his own track record against the Jets isn't any more promising (46 yards on eight carries in one game against them last season). While Taylor won't be expected to put up big stats in Week 2, he's absolutely worth owning as a quality reserve rusher in Fantasy play. Check to see if he's available in your league and if he is, make a move to get him.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor was the No. 1 rusher for New England on Sunday against Cincinnati. With Laurence Maroney (thigh) inactive for this game, Taylor had the majority of carries and rushing yards. He finished the game with 14 carries for 71 yards and two catches for 6 yards.
Analysis: Taylor is only owned in 41 percent of leagues and is worth picking up in the majority of formats. Even if Maroney returns for Week 2 against the Jets, Taylor could still get the majority of touches. We don't recommend using Taylor against the Jets based on the difficult matchup, but he should be added off the waiver wire since he played well against the Bengals.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor is ready for the first game of his 13th NFL season in Week 1 against the Bengals. He is coming off a solid preseason, which was highlighted by his performance against Atlanta when he had 11 carries for 54 yards and a touchdown. He has a tough matchup this week since Cincinnati was among the best teams at stopping the run in 2009. The Bengals only allowed seven rushing touchdowns to opposing running backs last year and only Jerome Harrison and Jamaal Charles ran for more than 100 yards in a single game.
Analysis: Taylor could get the starting nod in the game against the Bengals, but he is expected to share carries with Laurence Maroney, Sammy Morris and Kevin Faulk. We like Taylor as a reserve to stash on your bench in deep Fantasy leagues, but he's not worth using in this matchup.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor was not among the inactive players during Thursday's preseason game against the Rams, but he still didn't get a carry or reception. This coming after he posted 54 yards and one touchdown on 11 carries last week against Atlanta.
Analysis: The Patriots also didn't play Laurence Maroney on Thursday, leaving the rushing game up to Sammy Morris, BenJarvus Green-Ellis and Kevin Faulk. The Patriots are confident they know what they have in the veteran Taylor. He won't be a feature back for New England, but he could threaten for double-digit carries from week-to-week. Taylor is no longer in his prime and definitely an injury-risk option, so view him as a late-round Fantasy flier.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor looked fast and fresh against the Falcons on Thursday, showing he's still got plenty of gas left in the tank. He was in the starting lineup and shared time with Sammy Morris during their opening drive, which he capped by breaking a run outside for a 28-yard touchdown. Taylor finished with 54 yards on 11 carries before exiting the game after New England's third possession.
Analysis: Taylor may be 34 years old, but he averaged 4.3 yards per carry last season and is averaging 4.9 this preseason while looking great. The Patriots will likely ensure he stays fresh by limiting his carries through their rotation of Taylor, Laurence Maroney, Kevin Faulk and Sammy Morris. But don't forget that he started last year strong with two touchdowns in three games, including a 105-yard, one-touchdown performance against these same Falcons. Figure he'll be limited to 12 carries per game unless the Patriots are in a blowout and Taylor has been running strong. That won't happen often. Temper your excitement in Taylor's preseason performance by realizing that he's nothing better than a good reserve option worth a late-round pick.
News: Patriots RB coach Ivan Fears said Tuesday that veteran RB Fred Taylor has looked good so far in training camp. "Have you watched him? He's still got the bounce, doesn't he?" Fears said. "He still has the speed, and he's coming off that (ankle) injury from last year. I think he's recovered pretty well. He looks pretty good to me right now. As long as he can keep those fresh legs ... Fred's a smart guy. He knows how to take care of himself off the field. So I don't worry about that with him. I think old pops still has it."
Analysis: Taylor struggled in his first year with the Patriots in 2009. He was limited with an ankle injury and only played in six games. He finished the year with 269 rushing yards and four touchdowns, and he enters 2010 as a reserve in New England with the expectation to share carries with Laurence Maroney, Kevin Faulk and Sammy Morris. Taylor is not worth drafting in the majority of leagues, but he could have value during the season if he stays healthy and gets enough touches to add off the waiver wire.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor said he's approaching this year like any other, even though he's in the final year of his contract. Taylor, 34, has not talked about retirement either. "I feel like I have a nice routine down -- work hard, train hard, go through camp, get sore and play the season," Taylor said. "Let the rest take care of itself."

News: New England was playing from behind immediately in the Wild Card playoff loss to Baltimore on Sunday. Because of that, the team needed to throw the ball more often than they would have liked. That translated into minimal production from the team's four running backs. Kevin Faulk led the way with 52 yards on 14 carries. He added six receptions for 37 yards. Sammy Morris rushed once for 9 yards and had three grabs for 15. Laurence Maroney had one carry for 2 yards and made no catches. Finally, Fred Taylor rushed twice for 1 yard.
Analysis: Taylor scored two touchdowns in the Week 17 game but had just four on the entire season with 269 rushing yards in six games. He is not expected to be a major Fantasy weapon entering 2010 and should go undrafted in most leagues.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor had seven carries for 33 yards and two touchdowns Sunday at Houston. He also lost a fumble.
Analysis: Taylor returned last week against Jacksonville after being out since Week 4 with an ankle injury, but this was his best game of the season in terms of touchdowns. He got increased playing time with Laurence Maroney inactive for this game, but Taylor will get his share of carries in the playoffs. But despite the touchdowns, Taylor still has minimal Fantasy value since the Patriots have so many running backs that they rotate each week.
News: You already know that Pats head coach Bill Belichick won't say anything about who's playing for how long when his team plays at Houston in Week 17. The Patriots are secured a home game next week with no chance at a bye, and the only way they can attain the No. 3 seed as opposed to the No. 4 seed is if they win. But the Patriots have quite a history of playing deep into the season even with playoff ramifications limited or locked up: Only once in their last six playoff appearances (all under Belichick) have the Patriots rested their starters in the season finale. That includes their 2007 run to a perfect regular season when they took on the Giants in Week 17. "Close game, blowout, we get behind, I'm expecting to play the whole game," QB Tom Brady said this week.
Analysis: There's elevated risk in starting any Patriots players in Week 17 since the team could opt to bench their starters without warning. But they could also deliver. Our hunch? Expect at least a half from Brady, Randy Moss and Wes Welker with the typical unreliable running back rotation from the Patriots. If that's good enough for you, start them in Week 17. Otherwise, consider other options before going with any of these guys since they could seriously disappoint. Check out what else we have to say about players on playoff-bound teams who might rest in Week 17.
News: New England RB Fred Taylor returned Sunday against Jacksonville, his former team, after being out since Week 4 with an ankle injury. Taylor had 11 carries for 35 yards.
Analysis: Taylor played mostly in garbage time against the Jaguars, so don't plan on using him in most leagues in Week 17 at Houston. The Patriots will likely rely on Taylor in the playoffs, and he will continues to share carries with Laurence Maroney, Sammy Morris and Kevin Faulk.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor was not listed among the inactives for Week 16 vs. Jacksonville. Taylor has been out since Week 4 with an ankle injury.
Analysis: Taylor could take a decent chunk of work away from Laurence Maroney on Sunday, enough to consider Maroney a low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB. However, keep in mind that the Jacksonville run defense is strong and could potentially limit both backs. Taylor will only be worth using in the deepest of leagues as a last-resort flex option.
News: Whether you own Laurence Maroney or Fred Taylor, get ready for some Sunday morning suspense: The Patriots listed Taylor as questionable for Week 16 vs. Jacksonville after a week with the most practice he's had in months. Taylor practiced in full Wednesday and Thursday before being limited on Friday as he makes his way back from an ankle injury that has cost him 10 games already. Many speculate that Taylor targeted this week to return so that he could play against his former team.
Analysis: If Taylor plays, he could take a decent chunk of work away from Maroney, enough to consider Maroney a low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB. But if Taylor is out then Maroney would be a top-end No. 2 Fantasy choice since he'd see the big bulk of the work. Keep in mind that the Jacksonville run defense is strong and could potentially limit both backs. We'll be first to know whether or not Taylor will be active this Sunday on Fantasy Football Today, 11 a.m. ET here on CBSSports.com.
News: Patriots running back Fred Taylor seems set to face his former team after missing 10 games with an ankle injury. Taylor participated fully in practice Wednesday for the first time since being sidelined. The Patriots play Sunday against the Jaguars, who released Taylor after 11 seasons in which he became their top career rusher.
Analysis: If Taylor plays, chances are he won't see a significant amount of reps but certainly he'd cut into Laurence Maroney's playing time to some degree. Figure Taylor to get around 10 touches, which might leave around 15 touches for Maroney -- and all of this against a good Jaguars run defense. Taylor shouldn't be trusted in Fantasy play in his first game back, even if he's against his old team, and Maroney slips to a middle-of-the-pack No. 2 Fantasy RB and not a safe start as he's been over the course of his time running the ball without Taylor.
News: The following players have been listed as inactive by the Patriots for their Week 15 game at Buffalo: WR Isaiah Stanback, RB Fred Taylor, DT Vince Wilfork, DT Myron Pryor, DE Ty Warren and CB Terrence Wheatley.
Analysis: Most of these guys were declared out on Saturday, so you should already have benched them in Fantasy formats. The only ones with any real Fantasy value are Taylor and Wilfork.
News: The Patriots have listed RB Fred Taylor (ankle) as out for Week 15 at Buffalo.
Analysis: Taylor hasn't played since Week 4 and might not see the field again this season. Continue to just stash him away in deeper formats.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (ankle) returned to practice Friday on a limited basis as New England prepared for its Week 15 game at Buffalo. He is listed as questionable.
Analysis: Taylor's only memorable performance this season was in Week 3 against the Falcons, when he rushed for 105 yards on 21 carries. Even if Taylor can return on Sunday, he likely won't get enough touches to make an impact in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (ankle), who took part in limited practice Wednesday, didn't practice Thursday as the team prepares for Week 15 at Buffalo. Taylor has not played since Week 4 because of the ankle injury. He has practiced some in weeks past but has yet to return to the lineup.
Analysis: Taylor's only memorable performance this season was in Week 3 against the Falcons, when he rushed for 105 yards on 21 carries. Even if Taylor can return, he likely won't get enough touches to make an impact in Fantasy. Leave him on waivers.
News: New England RB Fred Taylor (ankle) was limited in practice on Wednesday in preparation for Week 15 at Buffalo. Taylor has not played since Week 4 because of the ankle injury. He's been limited before in practice in weeks prior and still has yet to return to a game.
Analysis: Taylor's only memorable performance this season was in Week 3 against the Falcons, when he rushed for 105 yards on 21 carries. If Taylor is able to play, he won't likely get too many touches and will not be a recommended start. Monitor Taylor's status throughout the weekend, leading up to inactives on Sunday.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (ankle) remained out of commission in Week 14 vs. Carolina.
Analysis: Taylor appears to be get closing to a return, so just continue to stash him in deeper formats. He could be a low-end sleeper option in the last few weeks of the season.
News: New England RB Fred Taylor (ankle) has been listed as questionable for the team's Week 14 game against the Panthers. If Taylor returns Sunday, it will be the first time he has played in 10 weeks. He last played in Week 4 against the Ravens, when he hurt his ankle.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (ankle) was not able to practice on Wednesday but was able to return to a limited practice on Thursday as the team prepares for its Week 14 game against the Panthers. Taylor has not played since Week 4 because of the ankle injury.
Analysis: When Taylor is able to return, it won't likely be in a large capacity and his value in Fantasy continues to diminish with every game he misses. Monitor his status leading up to Week 14 but don't get him active even if he is able to play.
News: The Patriots have listed the following players as inactive for Week 13: DB Shawn Springs, DB Terrence Wheatley, DL Ron Brace, RB Fred Taylor and WR Julian Edelman.
Analysis: Taylor and Edelman are the only players in this group with any Fantasy value, so be sure to bench them in all formats. The others can continue to be ignored.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor returned to practice Friday, but isn't expected to play on Sunday at Miami. He's listed as doubtful for Week 13 at Miami. The Patriots often bring injured players back for a Friday practice because it is lighter. It is more likely that Taylor will return next week against Carolina.
Analysis: Chances are once Taylor returns he'll contribute as many as 10 touches during a game, if that. Laurence Maroney has a pretty good grip on the Patriots' running back job -- so long as he has a good grip on the football. But if he slips up, Taylor might get back into the mix. He's worth adding as a low-end reserve in the 80 percent of CBSSports.com leagues that have him as a free agent. Just don't drop someone with decent value for him.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (ankle) missed a second straight practice on Thursday as the team prepares for Week 13 at Miami. Taylor has missed the last seven games.
Analysis: The fact Taylor has yet to step onto the practice field means he is likely going to sit out an eighth game. New England has no timetable for his return, so Taylor remains a week-to-week candidate.
News: The following players have been listed as inactive for Week 12 at New Orleans on Monday night for the Patriots: WR Julian Edelman, RB Fred Taylor, CB Kyle Arrington, CB Shawn Springs and LB Junior Seau.
Analysis: Edelman returned from a forearm injury in Week 11 but was back listed as inactive for Week 12. He has very low-end Fantasy value. Taylor has been out since Week 4 and might not return to action this season. Continue to stash him in just deeper formats just in case he does come back. Everyone else listed above does not need to be owned at this time.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (ankle) did not practice Saturday and will miss New England's Week 12 game at New Orleans.
Analysis: Taylor has been out since Week 4 and might not return to action this season. Continue to stash him in just deeper formats just in case he does come back.
News: Patriots RBs Sammy Morris (knee) and Fred Taylor (ankle) are both inactive for Week 11 vs. N.Y. Jets. Morris was questionable coming into the game, while Taylor was already ruled out.
Analysis: Morris was practicing during the week, but it just didn't seem as though he was ready to return. Taylor's return date is still undetermined, but the Patriots are holding out hope he will be back this season. Keep both players reserved for Week 11.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (ankle) has been ruled out of the team's Week 11 game against the Jets.
Analysis: The Patriots do hope that Taylor will be back in action at some point in 2009, but it is hard to say when that will be. Since his return is TBD, keep Taylor reserved in Fantasy until further notice.
News: New England RB Sammy Morris, RB Fred Taylor, DL Jarvis Green, LB Eric Alexander, DL Ty Warren and DB Shawn Springs have been ruled out of the team's Week 10 game at Indianapolis.
Analysis: Morris and Taylor have a shot to put up some numbers once they're healthy enough to return, but the rest of these players have little to no Fantasy value.
News: Patriots DL Jarvis Green (knee), Brandon Tate (knee) and Fred Taylor (ankle) have been ruled out of the team's Week 10 game against the Colts.
Analysis: Tate and Green are not relevant Fantasy options and Taylor has been out since Week 4. Leave them all either on your bench or on waivers for Week 10.
News: The Patriots have listed the following players as inactive for Week 9 vs. Miami: WR Julian Edelman, RB Fred Taylor, RB Sammy Morris, CB Jonathan Wilhite and LB Eric Alexander.
Analysis: Edelman, Taylor and Morris were declared out earlier this week, so you should have already made plans to be without them. The other guys on this list have no Fantasy value.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (ankle) has been ruled out of the team's Week 9 game against the Dolphins as expexted.
Analysis: The Patriots do hope that Taylor will be back in action at some point in 2009, but it is hard to say when that will be. Since his return is TBD, keep Taylor reserved in Fantasy until further notice.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday as the team preps for Week 9 vs. Miami. Taylor has not played since injuring himself in Week 4.
Analysis: The Patriots do hope that Taylor will be back in action at some point in 2009, but it probably will not be Week 9. Since his return is TBD, keep Taylor reserved in Fantasy until further notice.
News: The Patriots have announced the inactives for their Week 7 game vs. Tampa Bay in London: WR Julian Edelman, RB Fred Taylor, CB Terrence Wheatley, RB Sammy Morris and DT Ron Brace.
Analysis: The Fantasy-viable guys in this group -- Edelman, Taylor and Morris -- were declared out earlier this week, so hopefully you already benched them. The other guys can continue to be ignored.
News: The Boston Globe reports that Patriots RB Fred Taylor did not travel with the team to London and thus is not expected to play in their Week 7 game vs. Tampa Bay. Taylor has been nursing an ankle injury that has required surgery. He is expected back before the end of the season.
Analysis: Taylor should either be kept on the bench in Fantasy play or on waivers, especially if you can pick up someone like Laurence Maroney, who is expected to start for the Patriots on Sunday.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (ankle) was not at practice on Wednesday as the team prepares for its Week 7 game at Tampa Bay. Taylor is listed as questionable but is not expected to play in the game.
Analysis: The Patriots are hoping that Taylor will return in 2009, but this ankle injury will keep him out for a while. Keep Taylor benched in all Fantasy formats until he is able to return, which won't likely be Week 7.
News: Patriots LB Adalius Thomas, RB Fred Taylor, DB Terrence Wheatley, DB James Sanders, DL Ron Brace and WR Joey Galloway have all been ruled inactive for Week 6 vs. Tennessee.
Analysis: Thomas is a bit of a surprise inactive. He wasn't on the injury report all week, but he did miss practice Thursday and Friday for unknown reasons. We wait to hear for further explanation on Thomas' absence. Taylor is still out battling an ankle injury and Galloway still isn't playing because of ineffectiveness. Keep all of these players reserved for Week 6.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (ankle) has been ruled out for the team's Week 6 game against the Titans. Taylor had surgery to repair ligament damage in his right ankle last Thursday.
Analysis: The Patriots are hoping that Taylor will return in 2009, but this ankle injury will keep him out for a while. Keep Taylor benched in all Fantasy formats until he is able to return.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor (ankle) is inactive for Week 5 at Denver. He was ruled out earlier in the week. Sammy Morris is expected to start in his absence.
Analysis: The Patriots are hoping that Taylor will return in 2009, but this ankle injury definitely seems like a more than one-week ailment. Keep Taylor benched in all Fantasy formats until he is able to return.
News: Patriots coach Bill Belichick and running back Fred Taylor are hopeful Taylor's ankle surgery Thursday isn't season ending. "We'll list him on the injury report weekly as we always do," Belichick said Friday when asked if Taylor will return this season. "I think obviously if he wasn't going to come back this season, then we would place him on injured reserve at some point. He's not there now, so that wouldn't be the expectation." Taylor underwent surgery to repair ligament damage in his right ankle at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston on Thursday. Taylor told the Florida Times-Union on Thursday night that the surgery was "more serious than a scope," but doesn't expect it to sideline him the entire season. Taylor told the newspaper he sustained a high ankle sprain and tore "a couple of ligaments." He said he will know more when he speaks to the doctor again, but "will bounce back stronger. I know it. I've prayed on it."
Analysis: The 33-year-old Taylor, who spent the first 11 years of his NFL career with the Jacksonville Jaguars before signing a two-year deal with the Patriots in the offseason, is New England's leading rusher. He has 45 carries for 201 yards and two touchdowns in four games. Belichick said activating BenJarvus Green-Ellis, who has yet to play in a game this season, is a "possibility." The coach was asked how Taylor's injury will affect the team and what adjustments must be made. "We have confidence in all our backs. We have four other backs on the roster, so how all that will work, we'll have to see how it all materializes," he said. Keep Taylor benched in all Fantasy formats until he is able to return.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor will likely need ankle surgery after hurting himself on the final play of Sunday's game against Baltimore. A timetable for his return remains uncertain. Taylor is expected to miss Sunday's game at the Denver Broncos after sitting out his second straight day of practice Thursday amid an ESPN report that he needs surgery. He would play again this season unless there are complications, the report said. Patriots spokesman Stacey James said he was not aware that Taylor needs surgery. Taylor, in his first season with New England after spending 11 with the Jacksonville Jaguars, was hurt on his final carry of Sunday's 27-21 win over the Baltimore Ravens, a 3-yard run with 5:09 left in the game. He limped off the field. Taylor finished that game with a team-high 25 yards on seven carries one week after gaining 105 yards on 21 attempts in a 26-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons. He has 201 yards on 45 carries as part of a four-man backfield rotation with Sammy Morris, Laurence Maroney and Kevin Faulk. Another running back, BenJarvus Green-Ellis, has been inactive for three of the Patriots' four games but could play Sunday. Taylor was officially ruled out of the team's Week 5 game at Denver on Friday.
Analysis: The injury should keep him sidelined for at least a few weeks, but more will be known after he undergoes the procedure. As it stands, Fantasy owners should not expect to be able to rely on him for at least the next three or four Fantasy weeks and very likely for longer than that. We expect Morris and Maroney to see the biggest boost in touches with Faulk continuing to play a similar pass-catching role out of the backfield.
News: New England RB Fred Taylor did not practice on Wednesday with an ankle injury as the team prepares for its Week 5 game at Denver. He is considered questionable for Sunday's contest.
Analysis: Taylor struggled Week 4 against a solid Ravens run defense and is splitting carries with Kevin Faulk and Sammy Morris. If Taylor is able to play Week 5 at Denver, he should only be considered a No. 3 Fantasy option.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor had seven carries for 25 yards and caught one pass for 13 yards Sunday against the Ravens. This was much less than what Taylor had in Week 3 against Atlanta when he had 105 yards on 21 carries with a touchdown.
Analysis: You had to anticipate Taylor struggling against the Ravens, who have a solid run defense. Taylor also split carries with Kevin Faulk (five carries for 22 yards), Sammy Morris (six carries for 21 yards and a touchdown) and Laurence Maroney (seven carries for 6 yards). This will continue going forward, but Taylor can still be a useful No. 3 Fantasy option in Week 5 at Denver.
News: The Boston Globe reports the Patriots may have found a starting RB in Fred Taylor after his performance in Week 3 against Atlanta. Taylor's 21 carries were four more than he had in the first two games of the season combined, and he finished with 105 rushing yards and a touchdown. Taylor is the Patriots' leading rusher on the season with 38 carries for 176 yards (4.6 yards per carry average). He was asked whether he could handle 20 to 25 carries per game over the course of a season after he was limited to 11 carries per game last season. "Whatever it takes," Taylor said. "Honestly, I've always said I just want to play until the wheels fall off, but I understand how long the season is and this is my 12th year. I understand how important it is to take care of your body - the maintenance, the massage, the chiropractor, acupuncture, whatever you need, you want to make sure you're healthy by the next game. I understand all of that. Whether I can handle it or not, I'm prepared to. So we'll just see how it goes as the season progresses."
Analysis: Taylor could be worth adding in the majority of leagues, and he has two rushing touchdowns on the season. Laurence Maroney (thigh) is banged up, and the Patriots haven't used Sammy Morris or Kevin Faulk in a featured role yet this season. But heading into Week 4 against Baltimore, the No. 1 run defense in the NFL, Taylor might not run well. Still, if you have the roster space, add Taylor if you can based on his early performance.
News: In the Patriots Week 3 win vs. the Falcons, RB Fred Taylor played like he did years ago, rushing for 105 yards on 21 carries with a touchdown. He also had a 4-yard catch. The Patriots ran him and his rushing comrades to own the game clock and limit the Falcons' offensive snaps.
Analysis: Taylor also took advantage of a thinned Falcons run defense after they lost space-eating DT Peria Jerry. Don't expect it to last as he and the Pats host the Ravens and their run-stuffing defense in Week 4. Keep Taylor on your Fantasy bench for that next game.
News: New England RB Fred Taylor has seen 17 carries in two games this season for the Patriots and has rushed for 71 yards. He scored a touchdown in Week 1 against Buffalo. The Patriots head home to face the Falcons in Week 3 and in three career games vs. Atlanta, Taylor has averaged 100.3 rushing yards per game and has two games with 100-plus yards (124, 121). Laurence Maroney has rushed for 55 yards in two games this year on 16 carries and Kevin Faulk has rushed for 15 yards on six carries and also has 54 receiving yards on seven catches. In his past three games against NFC teams, Maroney had three rushing touchdowns. Faulk doesn't have a rich history against the Falcons or the NFC.
Analysis: The Patriots' three-headed running back group seems to be led by Taylor heading into Week 3 based on the matchup history against the Falcons. After two weeks, it looks like Taylor and Laurence Maroney will share most of the carries in New England. However, you never know what Bill Belichick will do on a week-to-week basis. While Taylor certainly still has some life in his old legs, he's just too risky to use outside of the deepest of leagues in Week 3 vs. Atlanta and the same goes for Faulk and Maroney at this point.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor ran eight times for 43 yards to lead all New England rushers in a Week 2 loss to the Jets. The Pats managed only 83 yards rushing.
Analysis: After two weeks, it looks like Taylor and Laurence Maroney will share most of the carries in New England. However, you never know what Bill Belichick will do on a week-to-week basis. While Taylor certainly still has some life in his old legs, he's just too risky to use outside of the deepest of leagues in Week 3 vs. Atlanta.
News: New England's newest running back, Fred Taylor, made an immediate impact on the offense during Week 1's Monday night win over the Bills. Taylor rushed nine times for 25 yards to finish just behind starter Laurence Maroney. However, when the Pats were on the goal line in the 2nd quarter, it was Taylor they called upon for the touchdown.
Analysis: If Taylor gets the goal-line carries this season that would greatly increase his Fantasy value. Taylor is part of a crowded backfield in New England and might end up getting even fewer carries then when he split time with Maurice Jones-Drew in Jacksonville, but the Patriots have had success with veteran running backs in the past. While we don't expect big yardage from him this season, touchdowns could prove another story. Still, we are not convinced after Week 1 and think you should probably keep him benched in Week 2 against a much tougher run defense in the New York Jets.
News:Fred Taylor will make his official debut with the New England Patriots against a division opponent in the Buffalo Bills. Last season, Buffalo finished with the 22nd ranked rush defense in the NFL.
Analysis: The Bills allowed 121.6 yards per game and 18 touchdowns in 16 games. Taylor is part of a crowded backfield in New England and might end up getting even fewer carries then when he split time with Maurice Jones-Drew in Jacksonville, but the Patriots have had success with veteran running backs in the past. Use Week 1 as a gauge to see how the Patriots will use him before deciding to activate him in Fantasy leagues as a No. 2 or 3 RB.
News: In the Patriots' third preseason game at the Redskins, RB Fred Taylor had 20 yards on seven rushes. He started the game and was alternating series with Laurence Maroney through the first half.
Analysis: Taylor actually has more yards than Maroney this preseason on fewer carries, which speaks to his abilities even though he's an old workhorse. Draft Taylor as a low-end Fantasy RB on Draft Day.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor carried the ball seven times for 26 yards during Thursday's preseason game against the Bengals. His longest carry went 10 yards. It was Taylor's first carries of the preseason.
Analysis: The Patriots added Taylor for his veteran presence in the offseason, but it's not like they needed the depth. Taylor is part of a crowded backfield in New England and might end up getting even fewer carries then when he split time with Maurice Jones-Drew in Jacksonville. Or, he could be the Patriots' lead back if his body allows it. Draft Taylor as a low-end Fantasy RB Draft Day.
News: Patriots RB Fred Taylor was excited for his first day of training camp Thursday in New England. "It feels great," he said. "I'm privileged. We're in a recession and I have a job, so it feels great. It's a different experience." Taylor is competing with Sammy Morris, Kevin Faulk, Laurence Maroney and BenJarvus Green-Ellis for playing time. Patriots coach Bill Belichick didn't give any hints who has the edge for the starter's spot. "Well, we feel like we have good competition at the running back position," Belichick said. "Those guys all really have proven themselves. Fred, of course, has had a tremendous career. Laurence has done a lot of great things for us. He played very well at the end of the '07 season and then he kind of had a short season last year. Sammy Morris has done a great job for us as has Kevin. [Green-Ellis], when he had an opportunity to play last year, was a good performer. So we'll let the players that we have in the backfield, put them out there, let them compete and let them play. I would think we would be able to get production from all of them because that's what we've gotten in the past."
Analysis: It sounds like you will get the dreaded RBBC with the Patriots, which means all these guys will be sharing carries. If you're looking to rank them, take Taylor first, Morris second, Faulk third, Maroney fourth and Green-Ellis last. At best, the No. 1 Patriots RB will be a No. 3 option, so only consider them as late-round fliers for reserves.
News: The Boston Herald reports Patriots RB Fred Taylor is trying to make a good impression with his new team. Taylor took part in the OTA workout Wednesday, which was voluntary for veterans. "If I'm going to be able to play with the guys on the team, I have to volunteer to come, try and not get ahead, but not be behind, and not get yelled at too much," Taylor said. He also wants to make sure he knows the playbook. "I've been working in this business for 11 years. I want to learn the playbook so I don't have to hesitate," he said. "I don't want to feel like a rookie out here."
Analysis: Taylor will be sharing carries in New England with Sammy Morris, Laurence Maroney, Kevin Faulk and BenJarvus Green-Ellis. We like Taylor to get his share of yards but not many touchdowns this year. He should be considered a No. 4 Fantasy option and is worth a late-round pick.
News: According to agent Drew Rosenhaus on his Twitter account, Patriots RB Fred Taylor is working out with the team during OTA training on Wednesday. "His wrist is fine and he is making a smooth transition to his new team," Rosenhaus said. Taylor previously hurt his wrist during a workout in Florida earlier this month.
Analysis: It appears like Taylor should be fine for the start of training camp. He will compete for carries with Sammy Morris, Kevin Faulk and Laurence Maroney. We like Taylor to get his share of yards but not many touchdowns this year. He should be considered a No. 4 Fantasy option and is worth a late-round pick.
News: The Boston Globe reports that Patriots RB Fred Taylor sprained his left wrist while working out in Florida and is wearing a velcro sprint to stabilize it. The injury is not expected to keep him off the field for training camp in July, but it might limit him in minicamp in May.
Analysis: Taylor has been a model Patriot since signing with the club, willing to take on any role the coaches ask of him. Taylor's production was very solid in 2006 and '07 when he was sharing the ball with Maurice Jones-Drew in Jacksonville. It declined in 2008 (556 rushing yards and one touchdown on 143 carries -- a 3.9 avg.), but he should perk up and be decent enough on 10-to-12 carries a game between the tackles for the Patriots. But because he'll be sharing the ball, and because the touchdowns will be few and far between, consider Taylor a good reserve Fantasy rusher worth a middle- to late-round pick in drafts this summer.
News: The Boston Globe reports that new Patriots RB Fred Taylor is so excited about being part of the team that he'll take on any role assigned to him. Taylor is expected to share carries with the likes of Sammy Morris, Laurence Maroney and Kevin Faulk. "I still don't know exactly what to expect, but I'll figure it out," Taylor said. " ... I just want to come and do my part, whatever it is, whatever my role is. They haven't guaranteed anything for me. I just want to be a part of making this work."

News:Fred Taylor and the Patriots have agreed to contract terms, meaning that the 33-year-old rusher will join the team's running back stable. The club announced the signing Friday afternoon. Taylor is expected to share carries with the likes of Sammy Morris, Laurence Maroney and Kevin Faulk. "I have tremendous respect for Fred Taylor, both as a person and as a player whose production is outstanding," said Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. "I look forward to working with Fred as he joins the rest of our running back group."

News:Fred Taylor told CBSSports.com's Pete Prisco that there is no deal yet between him and the Patriots after several media outlets said he was close. "That isn't true," Taylor told Prisco. "I don't know where some of that ----- comes from sometimes."
Analysis: A signing with the Patriots might be imminent. If he did sign there, he'd likely be used for 10-to-12 carries per game and not be a candidate to score very often, making him nothing more than a decent Fantasy reserve. You can read Prisco's update on Taylor here. We'll keep you posted.

News: Former Jaguars running back Fred Taylor got a head start on the NFL free agency period, visiting with the Bills on Tuesday. Taylor, released last week by Jacksonville, was also scheduled to meet with the Patriots later in the afternoon. The 33-year-old running back is looking to latch onto a new team after spending 11 seasons with the Jaguars. "At the end of the day, my No. 1 objective is to get somewhere and compete," Taylor said after his Buffalo visit. "Nothing is going to be given to me. I don't expect that."
Analysis: How Taylor would fit in with the Bills is not known. With Marshawn Lynch and Fred Jackson firmly in place, Taylor could be the third man in a crowded backfield. But Lynch's status is up in the air after being charged with three gun-related misdemeanors after his arrest earlier this month in Southern California. Because it was his second off-field incident in the past year, he faces a possible fine and suspension from the league. As for Taylor, he had just 556 rushing yards and one touchdown on 143 carries (3.9 avg.) in 2008 after having limited but productive seasons with the Jaguars in 2006 and 2007 (both back-to-back 1,000-yard, five-TD campaigns). Wherever he ends up, he's not expected to be a starter. In fact, Jacksonville did him a favor by using him as they did over the last three years, showing the NFL that he can still be useful on limited touches on a weekly basis. If his situation is reasonably favorable (i.e. he's a backup and not a third-string guy), then Taylor might be worth drafting late on in deeper leagues heading into the 2009 season, but don't expect him to lead your team to a championship by any means. The bigger problem is that the teams that we could see Taylor land with (Buffalo, Houston, New England, to name three) would impact a potential some other Fantasy stud rusher's production.
News: NFL Network reports that the Bills and Patriots have been identified as early interested parties for the services of free agent RB Fred Taylor. Taylor was released by the Jaguars last week. He had just 556 rushing yards and one touchdown on 143 carries (3.9 avg.) in 2008 after having limited but productive seasons with the Jaguars in 2006 and 2007 (both back-to-back 1,000-yard, five-TD campaigns).

News: The Jacksonville Jaguars released veteran RB Fred Taylor on Monday. Taylor, the club's first round pick in 1998, started 136 of 140 games in 11 seasons with the Jaguars and led the team in rushing eight times. His 2008 season came to end three games early after he tore ligaments in his thumb. He had just 556 rushing yards and one touchdown on 143 carries (3.9 avg.) in 2008 after having limited but productive seasons with the Jaguars in 2006 and 2007 (both back-to-back 1,000-yard, five-TD campaigns).

News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor will be placed on injured reserve for the final three games of the year after tearing ligaments in his left thumb in Week 14 at Chicago. Taylor had hoped to play though the injury, but a second opinion confirmed the need for season-ending surgery. Taylor will finish this season with 556 yards rushing and a career-low 3.9 yards per carry. The Jaguars signed Alvin Pearman on Wednesday to fill Taylor's roster spot. "Fred is one of the all-time great Jaguars," said head coach Jack Del Rio. "He's been terrific on the field. In my entire time here, in the six years I've been here, hes been a stud. Hes been really good. So I have a lot of respect and admiration for him, and so long as he is healthy and so as long as his body is in shape the way it is, I mean he's defying Father Time a little bit here and at some point it'll catch up, but we don't think it's caught him yet. I'd like to see him retire a Jaguar."
Analysis: Taylor may have played his last game for the Jaguars. At 32, he's getting close to the end of his career and has slowed down this season. Jacksonville has obviously turned the rushing duties over to Maurice Jones-Drew, who should dazzle down the stretch. Taylor is an obvious drop from all Fantasy leagues.
News: The Jaguars might be without running back Fred Taylor for the rest of the season. Taylor was getting a second opinion on his injured left thumb Wednesday before deciding whether to go on injured reserve. Taylor tore ligaments in his thumb Sunday at Chicago. The thumb was purple, red and swollen at first, but Taylor said it has gotten consider better since and felt like a bad sprain. He said he would like to play vs. the Packers on Sunday, especially because this could be his final season in Jacksonville, but doesn't want to do anything that would make the injury worse.
Analysis: Fantasy owners should keep an eye on this injury for two reasons: One, obviously because of his availability for Week 15 and beyond as a No. 3 Fantasy RB. Two, because if he's out, then Maurice Jones-Drew will be in line for a ton of work. We'll keep our ears pressed to the ground on this one and deliver the latest news when we get it.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor had 13 carries for 53 yards and one catch for 6 yards Sunday at Chicago.
Analysis: Taylor is a low-end Fantasy RB and should only be used in deep formats at this time. He is behind Maurice Jones-Drew on the depth chart when it comes to production. Consider Taylor a low-end No. 3 Fantasy option in Week 15 against Green Bay.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor missed practice on Wednesday for a non-injury related reason. Like many veteran players, Taylor likely took the day off. The Jaguars are at Chicago on Sunday.
Analysis: Taylor's numbers have been dropping and he has recently expressed frustration with the team. Wednesday's day off shouldn't change his status for Sunday's game, but be sure to check and make sure he is still active on Sunday. Taylor remains a low-end No. 3 Fantasy RB.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor topped 50 yards rushing for the third time in four games Week 13 at Houston, finishing with 67 yards on nine carries. Even more notable, he scored his first touchdown of the season on a four-yard run in the fourth quarter. He also caught a six-yard pass.
Analysis: At age 32, Taylor just doesn't get the kind of numbers he used to and doesn't score nearly enough touchdowns to make up for his inconsistent yardage. The career Jaguar has talked about perhaps signing with another team next season, but for this season, he remains a low-end No. 3 Fantasy RB at best -- one better left reserved for Week 14 at Chicago.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor expressed his frustration with the team on a radio show Tuesday. "In my 11 years this is probably the worst team, emphasize the word 'team,' that I've been on," Taylor said. "We have some outstanding players but the mix is bad. We can't really find that chemistry that we need. Usually, I think, if you have that chemistry good things just tend to happen to you just because. But we don't have that mix and it's just tough right now." Taylor also addressed his future. "Actually, I'm not 100 percent sure of that," Taylor said. "I understand how this business works and I have a young guy backing me up in Maurice Jones-Drew. You can kind of see the plays, they're going to call more things for Maurice and I'm kind of not getting as many opportunities as I once got to compete (and) do the things I'm capable of doing. So, whether it is in Jacksonville or somewhere else, I will be playing football."
Analysis: It sounds like Taylor could be headed out of Jacksonville after this season. As for the rest of this year and Week 13 against Houston, consider Taylor a No. 4 Fantasy option. He has a good matchup against the Texans, who are No. 23 in run defense with 15 touchdowns allowed, but as he said, Jones-Drew gets most of touches these days. Taylor was allowed to sit out practice both Wednesday and Thursday.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor ran six times for 20 yards and caught one pass for seven yards in a Week 12 loss to the Vikings.
Analysis: After two half-decent outings, Taylor went back to his usual self on Sunday as the Jaguars found rushing yards really tough against the Vikings. The veteran remains a No. 3 Fantasy RB option at best heading into Week 13 at Houston on Monday Night Football.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (neck) is listed as probable for Week 12 vs. Minnesota. He dealt with the same ailment Week 11 against Tennessee, but dressed and rushed for 58 yards.
Analysis: Taylor has had some decent rushing outputs the last two weeks after struggling for most of the season, but he still has only one 100-yard game and is behind Maurice Jones-Drew on the depth chart. Taylor is at best a No. 3 Fantasy RB heading into Week 12 against Minnesota.
News: After taking a day off from practice on Wednesday, Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (neck) was back to practicing in full on Thursday in preparation for Week 12 against the Vikings.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (neck) did not practice Wednesday as the team prepares for Week 12 vs. Minnesota. Taylor has been bothered by various injuries in 2008, including a neck ailment leading up to Week 11, but has yet to miss a game. Taylor had 12 carries for 58 yards Week 11 against Tennessee.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor, coming off an 80-yard game after rushing for no more than 25 in the previous five, didn't fall off completely Week 11 against a much tougher Titans defense. He ran for 58 yards on 12 carries and also caught a two-yard pass.
Analysis: Taylor is clearly the secondary running option in Jacksonville, behind Maurice Jones-Drew. At age 32, he doesn't look as explosive as he once did and has only one 100-yard game this season. Think of him as no more than a low-end No. 3 Fantasy RB against a tough Vikings run defense in Week 12.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor is active for Week 11 against the Titans. A neck injury limited him in practice this week.
Analysis: Taylor had maybe his best game of the season in Week 10, rushing for 80 yards on 18 carries. The Titans defense is a bit different from the Lions', though, so think of Taylor as just a low-end No. 3 Fantasy option.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (neck) is listed as probable for Week 11 vs. Tennessee. Taylor went through a full practice Thursday and Friday after sitting out Wednesday. Taylor had 80 yards on 18 carries and one catch for 17 yards in a Week 10 win over the Lions. He had six more carries than Maurice-Jones Drew.
Analysis: Taylor has been on the injury report this season numerous times with different ailments, but has yet to miss a game. It doesn't appear as though that trend will change Week 11. Taylor was coming off five brutal games heading into Week 10 and continues to decline as he gets older. The Jaguars don't have an easy matchup Week 11 against the Titans, so Taylor is a bad start healthy or not. He had just 18 yards in his first game against Tennessee this season.

Analysis: Taylor has been on the injury report this season numerous times with different ailments, but has yet to miss a game. This injury is not yet considered serious, so we don't have to worry until further notice. Taylor was coming off five brutal games heading into Week 10 and continues to decline as he gets older. News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor had 80 yards on 18 carries and one catch for 17 yards in a Week 10 win over the Lions. He had six more carries than Maurice-Jones Drew.
Analysis: Taylor was coming off five brutal games heading into Week 10, which is the main reason he was starting in only 18 percent of leagues. While this was a nice outing, things won't be easy in Week 11 when the Jaguars host the undefeated Titans. If you have to, start him as a low-end 'flex' option in deeper leagues for that matchup.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (knee) is listed as probable for Week 10 at Detroit. He went through full practices Thursday and Friday after sitting out Wednesday.
Analysis: Taylor has had some minor injuries in 2008, but it has been nothing serious enough to keep him sidelined. However, he has just 16 carries in his last three games and hasn't broken 30 yards in five straight games. You'd normally bench a guy struggling like Taylor is, but you could do worse than giving him a shot as a 'flex' option against a poor Lions defense.
News: After not practicing at all on Wednesday, Jacksonville RB Fred Taylor returned to full practice on Thursday and appears healthy enough to play in Week 10 at Detroit.
Analysis: Taylor rushed five times for 12 yards in Week 9 against Cincinnati. He's failed to net over 25 rushing yards in five straight games. The Jaguars offensive line has to be blamed for Taylor's struggles, because we all know this guy isn't THIS bad. His owners must be wondering whether Taylor will ever put up respectable numbers again this season. That said, if he can play, the Lions defense is horrendous and if Taylor can break out against any team, it is the Lions. You'd normally bench a guy struggling like Taylor is, but you could do worse than giving him a shot as a 'flex' option against a poor Lions defense.

Analysis: The Jaguars offensive line has to be blamed for Taylor's struggles, because we all know this guy isn't THIS bad. His owners must be wondering whether Taylor will ever put up respectable numbers again this season. He's in jeopardy of not playing in Week 10 now, so you'd be best finding other options. That said, if he can play, the Lions defense is horrendous and if Taylor can break out against any team, it is the Lions. You'd normally bench a guy struggling like Taylor is, but you could do worse than giving him a shot as a 'flex' option against a poor Lions defense.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor ran five times for 12 yards and caught one pass for zero yards in a Week 9 loss to the Bengals. He has now failed to get over 25 rushing yards in five straight games.
Analysis: The Jaguars offensive line has to be blamed for Taylor's struggles, because we all know this guy isn't THIS bad. His owners must be wondering whether Taylor will ever put up respectable numbers again this season, and we'll see what he can do against a bad Lions defense in Week 10. You'd normally bench a guy struggling like Taylor is, but you could do worse than giving him a shot as a 'flex' option against a poor Lions defense.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor is off to the slowest start in his 11-year career, one of Jacksonville's biggest problems in a season filled with them. He has 266 yards rushing, averaging 38 yards a game, and 3.3 yards a carry - both career lows for the 32-year-old back. "I'm a little puzzled about what's going on," Taylor said. "Slightly, only because of what we're used to. Teams are coming in and doing a pretty good job defending it. ... But we're not giving up on it. We've still got a lot of time to fix it." The Jaguars might find a cure in Cincinnati on Sunday. The Bengals rank 28th in the league against the run, and Taylor has four 100-yard performances in seven games against them. But given the way this season has gone, the Jaguars don't know what to expect from Taylor and their inconsistent ground game.
Analysis: Taylor and his teammates refused to point fingers, but coach Jack Del Rio made it clear this week that the rushing woes rest with the team's struggling offensive line. Guards Vince Manuwai and Maurice Williams were placed on injured reserve following the season opener, and center Brad Meester missed the first six games with a biceps injury. Meester returned last week against Cleveland, but his long layoff was evident as defensive tackle Shaun Rogers disrupted everything Jacksonville tried to do. Guard Chris Naeole could have helped. The team's longtime right guard who missed the last year because of a quadriceps injury, was expected to return alongside Meester. But Naeole broke his right hand in pregame warmups and was lost for the season. Look for Taylor to bounce back this week. Consider him a No. 3 Fantasy RB against the Bengals.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor had eight carries for 24 yards during a Week 8 loss to the Browns. His longest carry went 5 yards. Taylor has just 11 carries for 34 yards in his last two games.
Analysis: Taylor has just one 100-yard game this season and has really struggled in October. He has just 21 carries for 53 yards and no touchdowns. Taylor is definitely wearing down in his 30s and losing more-and-more touches to Maurice Jones-Drew. Consider Taylor at best a No. 3 Fantasy RB or 'flex' option heading into Week 9 against the Bengals.
News: The Jaguars return from their bye week to face the Browns in Week 8. The Browns defense has allowed the seventh most rushing yards per game (146.3) in the NFL, meaning this is a favorable matchup -- on paper -- for running backs Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew.
Analysis: Taylor is coming off a game a couple of weeks ago that he had to leave early due to a blow to the head. Expect him to be licking his chops for this promising matchup. The Jaguars should run the ball early and often in this game and if they get out to any kind of a league, there should be plenty of touches to go around for both backs. Consider both excellent starts during the bye weeks. Jones-Drew could even be a No. 1 option this week for his big play ability and nose for the end zone. Taylor is a suitable No. 2.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor was slowed by a head injury Week 6 against the Broncos and had just three carries for 10 yards. Taylor returned midway through the third quarter after sitting out most of the first half following a blow to the head. Taylor had one carry for no yards on the Jaguars' first drive of the game. He also caught a 10-yard pass, but turned the ball over after he was hit by Broncos linebacker Nate Webster.
Analysis: While Taylor was out licking his wounds, Maurice Jones-Drew rushed for 120-plus yards and two scores. The duo might continue share carries this season, but Jones-Drew definitely has better upside and that doesn't help Taylor, who is still without a touchdown. The Jaguars are on a bye Week 7, so Taylor gets to rest. However, he is nothing more than a No. 3 Fantasy RB heading into Week 8 against the Browns.
News: The Broncos played well against Earnest Graham last week, holding him to 59 rushing yards, but he only had 10 carries. The Jaguars will feed the ball to Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew, and this is the type of game where Taylor typically plays well against Denver in Week 6. Last year at Denver, Taylor had 17 carries for 84 yards.
Analysis: In his last road game against a weak opponent in Week 3 at Indianapolis, Taylor had 26 carries for 121 yards, so expect a similar performance this week. Consider Taylor a low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB against the Broncos but count on him playing well in this matchup.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor carried the ball 10 times for only 19 yards Week 5 against the Steelers. He also caught two passes for six yards. Since rushing for 121 yards on 26 carries in Week 3, he has a total of 44 yards on the ground.
Analysis: You have to expect these on-again, off-again performances for Taylor since he splits carries with Maurice Jones-Drew, but the duo hasn't really gotten the Jaguars' ground game going this year like it has in years past. That should change Week 6 at Denver, as the Broncos have had a hard time stopping the run all season. Consider Taylor at least a No. 3 Fantasy RB for the contest, and he might even qualify as a low-end No. 2.
News: Jacksonville RB Fred Taylor has 213 yards rushing in four games and is averaging 3.6 yards a carry, well off the career-best 5.4 yards he averaged last season. "I tend to pick up as it gets cooler," Taylor said. "Hopefully it's cool enough because the past four weeks I haven't done a whole lot. I'd like to get on my horse and start getting away with things."
Analysis: Ahh, so that's why he's been poor this season. It's the weather! Eureka! Well, in Week 5 against the Steelers in Jacksonville it is supposed to be 83 degrees and sunny. Taylor met Pittsburgh twice last season. Taylor rushed for 147 yards and a touchdown in the first meeting and was limited to just 48 yards and another score in the second in the Wild Card playoff game. That said, the Steelers have the league's fourth-best rush defense and he still splits carries with Maurice Jones-Drew. We don't see Taylor being much better than a low-end No. 2 Fantasy option in Week 5. Still, he's a decent start in most Fantasy leagues at the flex position because of byes.
News: Jacksonville RB Fred Taylor met his Week 5 opponents, Pittsburgh, twice last season. Taylor rushed for 147 yards and a touchdown in the first meeting and was limited to just 48 yards and another score in the second in the Wild Card playoff game. Taylor has rushed for 213 yards this season but has yet to score and the Steelers own the league's fourth-best rushing defense.
Analysis: Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew split carries, with Taylor the lower option in Fantasy. Since the Steelers have a very tough rush defense, we don't see Taylor being much better than a low-end No. 2 Fantasy option in Week 5. Still, he's a decent start in most Fantasy leagues at the flex position because of byes.
News: Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew had just 32 yards rushing on seven carries in Week 4 vs. Houston. He also caught two passes for 17 yards. Starter Fred Taylor had just 25 yards on 10 carries in the game. He did not catch a pass, though.
Analysis: The Texans did a great job of controlling the ball and keeping the Jaguars offense off the field. And when the offense was out on the field, the Texans did a great job of containing. That's the reason the potent RB duo of Taylor and Jones-Drew was limited to just 57 yards combined after both rushed for over 100 yards in Week 3. Despite this slow game, continue to view Taylor as a solid No. 2 RB during the bye weeks and a very good 'flex' option. In Week 5, the Jaguars will host Pittsburgh and their solid defense.
News: Jaguars running backs Fred Taylor (hand) and Maurice Jones Drew (ankle) are both active, as expected, for Week 4 against Houston.
Analysis: Continue to view Taylor as a No. 2 Fantasy RB Week 4. Taylor had six carries for 90 yards in his lone game against Houston last season.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (hand) is listed as probable for Week 4 vs. Houston. Taylor returned to a full practice Friday after limited reps Thursday.
Analysis: The Jags haven't said much about Taylor's hand injury, but if it were anything serious, they would probably be in panic mode. Continue to view Taylor as a No. 2 Fantasy RB Week 4. Taylor had six carries for 90 yards in his lone game against Houston last season.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (hand) did not practice Wednesday, but returned to limited reps Thursday as the team prepares for Week 4 vs. Houston. Taylor had a minor toe injury leading up to Week 3, but played against the Colts and rushed for 121 yards -- his highest total of the season.
Analysis: The Jags haven't said much about Taylor's hand injury, but if it were anything serious, they would probably be in panic mode. Continue to view Taylor as a No. 2 Fantasy RB Week 4 until further notice. Taylor had six carries for 90 yards in his lone game against Houston last season.

News:Fred Taylor carried 26 times for 121 yards in Week 3 at Indianapolis, while Maurice Jones-Drew ran 19 times for 107 yards and one score and caught four passes for 59 yards. In all, the Jaguars ran for 236 yards and kept the ball for more than 41 minutes.
Analysis: The Jaguars are a run-heavy team, but their running game had been mostly stagnant the first two games of the season. This is more what we expected from them coming into the season and what was seen last year in Jacksonville. But it's not going to be often that both backs get 100-plus yards. Taylor usually sees the majority of the runs, but Jones-Drew is a gamebreaker who also gets plenty of touches to contribute in Fantasy. In Week 4, the Jaguars will play the Texans and both backs are worthy of use in as No. 2 or 'flex' options.
News: The official team web site reports Friday that Jaguars RB Fred Taylor is probable for Week 3 at Indianapolis. He had been battling a minor toe injury but appears ready to play with it.
Analysis: Taylor has a pair of 100-yard games in his career against the Colts, but has one TD in his last eight against Indianapolis. The Colts, however, have allowed 100-yard rushers in each game so far, and enter this game without run-stopping safety Bob Sanders. Consider Taylor a decent No. 2 Fantasy RB with potential for another 100-yard game, even with the Jags' banged-up offensive line.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (toe) went through limited practice reps Wednesday, but returned to a full workload Thursday as the team prepares for Week 3 at Indianapolis. Taylor has a pair of 100-yard games in his career against the Colts, but has one TD in his last eight against Indianapolis.
Analysis: Taylor and the whole Jags offense have been struggling so far this season and their banged-up offensive line has a lot to do with it. Still, the Colts haven't been able to stop the run yet this year and Taylor could be a good low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB Week 3.
News: Jacksonville RB Fred Taylor has a pair of 100-yard games against the Colts, but has one TD in his last eight against Indianapolis. The Jaguars visit the Colts in Week 3.
Analysis: Taylor and the whole Jags offense have been struggling so far this season and their banged-up offensive line has a lot to do with it. Still, the Colts haven't been able to stop the run yet this year and Taylor could be a good No. 3 Fantasy RB or 'flex' option for Week 3.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor carried a team-high 14 times for just 49 yards in Week 2 against Buffalo. He added one catch for five yards. Maurice Jones-Drew rushed seven times for 17 yards, but he scored on a 2-yard touchdown.
Analysis: Taylor only had 18 yards in Week 1 against the Titans and is clearly suffering from a weaker-than-expected offensive line in front of him. The line is missing three of its starters and it doesn't help that the Jags faced two of the tougher run defenses in the AFC to start the season. Hopefully things will get better in Week 3, but they'll travel to Indianapolis to face another tough defensive line. Consider Taylor merely a 'flex' option in larger leagues until the Jaguars can sort out their offensive line struggles.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor averages 84.2 rush yards per game against Buffalo and will aim for his third consecutive game with 100+ rush yards against the Bills when the two teams meet in Jacksonville in Week 2.
Analysis: With Jaguars O-line problems, it doesn't look good for Taylor to get the hat trick of 100-yard rushing games against a solid Bills defense. Consider him a low-end No. 3 RB or flex option if you must start him.
News: The Orlando Sentinel reports that Jaguars LG Vince Manuwai is out for the season with an ACL injury. Also, fellow starting lineman Maurice Williams has a torn biceps and backup Uche Nwaneri has a leg injury.
Analysis: This is bad news for owners of all of the Jags skill-position players, but especially David Garrard, Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor. Jacksonville struggled mightily in their running game on Sunday, and with their OL in tatters, that might not improve much in Week 2 against a tough Bills defense. Don't bench/drop any of those three guys yet, but keep a close eye on their progress (or lack of it) over the next couple of weeks.
News: Jaguars running backs totaled just 31 yards in Week 1 against a stingy Titans run defense. Fred Taylor gained 18 yards on nine carries while Maurice Jones-Drew gained 13 yards on five attempts. Taylor caught one pass for nine yards and Jones-Drew caught four passes for 37 yards.
Analysis: The Jaguars threw the ball 35 times and rushed only 17 times in the game as they never found any type of rhythm offensively. The Titans sent a lot of blitzes at the Jags and the defensive line was stout throughout the game. Don't be turned off just because of the one bad game. This running game combo carried the Jags a year ago and should be able to get back on track in Week 2 at home against Buffalo. Taylor is still useful as a No. 3 running back in Fantasy or as a 'flex' option.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor was ordered out of his car at gunpoint, patted down and handcuffed while a K-9 unit searched his vehicle for drugs outside a Miami Beach nightclub over the weekend, according to a police report released Tuesday. Taylor yelled at officers repeatedly and was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. Taylor insisted Monday he wasn't actually arrested; he said he was just issued a citation. "At this point, I just want to let go of it and take the high road, whether I'm right or wrong. At the end of the day, I'm going to feel more right than wrong," Taylor said Monday, suggesting he was provoked by officers. "Right now, I'm humbled by it. I'll continue to move forward and do whatever I've got to do to let this blow over."
Analysis: Taylor, who led the AFC with a 5.4 yards-per-carry average in 2007, will be aiming for his sixth consecutive regular season game with 100-plus rushing yards dating back to Nov. 18, 2007 at the Titans. Go into the game with Taylor as a No. 3 Fantasy option and hope for continued success.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor, who led the AFC with a 5.4 yards-per-carry avg. in 2007, will be aiming for his sixth consecutive regular season game with 100-plus rushing yards dating back to 11/18/07. He will try to reach triple digits against the Titans.
Analysis: Fantasy owners are counting on Taylor to repeat his performance from 2007 when he rushed for 1,202 yards and five touchdowns and caught nine passes for 58 yards last year. He's not getting any younger, however, so question marks remain. Go into the season with Taylor as a No. 3 Fantasy option and hope for continued success from the veteran rusher.
News: Jaguars running back Fred Taylor walked into the locker room Monday, saw a throng of reporters waiting for him and said, "I feel like we're going to the Super Bowl." Not even close. These questions were much, much different. Taylor apologized to team owner Wayne Weaver for his arrest on a disorderly conduct charge over the weekend, said the whole incident was "very, very petty," and hinted that he was provoked by police. Taylor even refused to characterize it as an arrest, calling it a citation. "I'm not going to get into any details," he said. "It's an awkward situation, but I really do, sincerely, from the bottom of my heart, want to apologize to the Weavers and this organization for this type of press. It's never really good when it's in the negative light."
Analysis: Taylor was cited outside a Miami Beach nightclub Saturday around 4 a.m. According to his attorney, Adam Swickle, Taylor was getting into his car as police arrived at the club. Officers ordered him to put his hands on the hood, then patted him down and searched his vehicle for firearms and drugs with a K-9 unit. Taylor admitted getting into a verbal altercation with police, questioning why he was being searched, and said his tone may have prompted the citation. Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio wasn't concerned with the situation, even though it was the team's 10th arrest in the last two years. Taylor said he was hoping the entire thing would blow over soon. He said he didn't expect to have to appear in court, and added that he ultimately hopes his situation will help keep his teammates out of trouble. Taylor is expected to play Week 1 against the Titans and remains a decent No. 3 Fantasy RB heading into 2008.
News: The Miami Herald reports that Jaguars RB Fred Taylor was arrested in Miami Beach and charged with disorderly conduct. Taylor was not jailed, instead released on his own recognizance with a promise to appear in court. Taylor is expected to start for Jacksonville again this season and be part of a potent 1-2 rushing tandem with Maurice Jones-Drew.
Analysis: Taylor will be subject to a suspension if he violated the NFL's personal conduct policy. If you own him, you might be without him for a week or two this season. He remains a solid No. 3 Fantasy RB in drafts and is worth starting as a No. 3 RB Week 1 at Tennessee. When we learn more about Taylor's situation, we'll bring it to you.
News: Jacksonville RB Fred Taylor, who struggled in his first preseason game last week against Miami, bounced back against the Bucs Saturday. Taylor gained 26 yards on 7 carries, and showed a good burst and great strength, pushing defenders off of him.
Analysis: That's a good sign because Fantasy owners are counting on Taylor to repeat his performance from 2007 when he rushed for 1,202 yards and five touchdowns and caught nine passes for 58 yards last year in a shared role with Maurice Jones-Drew. Go into the season with Taylor as a No. 3 Fantasy option and hope for continued success from the veteran rusher.
News: The Florida Times-Union reported Tuesday that Jaguars RB Fred Taylor is starting to think about his legacy at 32 and doesn't seem to be thinking about retiring any time soon. When he visited in April, Taylor told the team's Web site, "I'm just trying to catch Jim Brown and then I'm going to close the curtains." Taylor is 17th on the all-time list with 10,715 yards; Brown is ninth with 12,312. Upon further review, he's no longer thinking about stopping if he catches Brown. "Maybe I'll try to get in the top five or something," Taylor said. Taylor said he plans to play at least two more years, but wouldn't rule out a third, which would enable him to finish his contract at the end of the 2010 season. Taylor knows he's more under the microscope at 32 than he was at 27. When a top player in his 20s has a bad game or two, there's usually not much concern. But when a player struggles at 32, there are concerns he's getting too old.
Analysis: Taylor's workout regimen also could help his longevity. He looks in top shape and said he's in the 228-229 pound range. He keeps himself in such good shape that coach Jack Del Rio doesn't complain about him not participating in all of the team's activities. That's a good sign because Fantasy owners are counting on Taylor to repeat his performance from 2007 when he rushed for 1,202 yards and five touchdowns and caught nine passes for 58 yards last year in a shared role with Maurice Jones-Drew. Go into the season with Taylor as a No. 3 Fantasy option and hope for continued success from the veteran rusher.
News: The Florida Times-Union reported Tuesday that Jaguars RB Fred Taylor skipped Monday's session. It was no surprise that Taylor was missing because he has trained in South Florida in recent years, although coach Jack Del Rio said the running back will stop in next week.
Analysis: Taylor, who rushed for 1,202 yards and five touchdowns and caught nine passes for 58 yards last year in a shared role with Maurice Jones-Drew, will be 32 in 2008. If he's able to hold off Father Time for one more year, he would be a great sleeper for Fantasy owners as a No. 3 option. But you have to figure age and wear and tear are going to catch up with Taylor at some point, so consider him a risky option heading into the season.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor, in his 10th season, finally made the Pro Bowl with an impressive year at 31 years old. In 15 games, Taylor rushed for 1,202 yards and five touchdowns and caught nine passes for 58 yards. He only had 223 carries in a shared role with Maurice Jones-Drew, so he should be relatively fresh again in 2008, even though he will be 32.
Analysis: Taylor, who has been injured plenty throughout his career, was impressive in 2007. There was a fear that after he signed his new contract prior to last season, and with the emergence of Jones-Drew, Taylor would break down and not be rushed back. But he made it through the entire season and helped plenty of Fantasy owners. Taylor, because of his age and Jones-Drew, should be viewed as a No. 3 Fantasy option in 2008. If he continues to defy Father Time, his value could rise.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor ran in for a one-yard touchdown in the first quarter Saturday at Pittsburgh, helping his team to a playoff win. He ran 16 times for 48 yards and one pass for two.
Analysis: Taylor got most of the carries for the Jaguars, as he did over the course of the season, and he remains a useful No. 2 RB in playoff Fantasy formats. The Jaguars will visit either the Colts or the Patriots in the next round.
News: The Jaguars have listed RB Fred Taylor as inactive for Week 17 at Houston. RB Maurice Jones-Drew also is inactive as the Jaguars are getting ready for their first playoff game next week.
Analysis: With both starting RBs out, look for the Jaguars to depend on Greg Jones and LaBrandon Toefield against the Texans. Taylor will be fine for the playoffs, either against San Diego or Pittsburgh.
News: Jaguars.com reports that coach Jack Del Rio won't say who won't play and who will play, and for how long, at Houston in Week 17. The Jaguars have already clinched the No. 5 seed in the AFC and cannot improve on it. Last week, the Jags rested their key starters after building a huge lead vs. Oakland, and could do the same thing against the Texans with or without that lead. "I'm not going to get into who I'm going to play. We want to play good football. We want to make sure we play well," Del Rio said. "It's going to get a lot of attention. Last week, it was the Pro Bowl. This week, it's are you going to rest them?"
Analysis: For what it's worth, Jaguars QB David Garrard said he was expecting to play but didn't speculate on how long he'd play. Our best guess is to expect a half from Garrard, WR Reggie Williams and RB Maurice Jones-Drew, and perhaps as little as a quarter from veteran RB Fred Taylor. Realistically, the last thing the Jaguars want to do is get one of their key players hurt, so don't expect large stats from any regular Jacksonville offensive player in Week 17, especially since the Texans will play them tough in an effort to finish their season 8-8.
News: After helping Jacksonville build a huge lead over Oakland in Week 16, RB Fred Taylor was benched to rest and stay healthy. Taylor finished with 111 yards, including a 62-yard touchdown run on his first carry of the game, all on seven total rushes.
Analysis: Not bad considering he played just less than three quarters. Taylor has found the fountain of youth, rushing for over 100 yards in his fifth straight game and a touchdown in his four of his last five. Jacksonville plays at Houston in Week 17; he's worth a start assuming the Jaguars don't have the No. 5 seed in the AFC locked up. If they do have it locked up, there's no guarantee Taylor will see a lot of reps and therefore should be benched in that game.
News: In his past six games, Jaguars RB Fred Taylor has 617 yards rushing and four touchdowns, including four-straight games over 100 yards. Last week against Pittsburgh, Taylor had 147 yards rushing and a touchdown, and he should continue to dominate this week against Oakland, which leads the NFL with 21 rushing touchdowns allowed.
Analysis: Taylor is playing as well as anyone in the NFL right now and should be considered a No. 1 Fantasy option against the Raiders.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor had 25 carries for 147 yards and a touchdown Sunday at Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Taylor continues to shine this year. He now has 617-yards rushing and four touchdowns in his past six games, including over 100 yards in four straight. Start Taylor is a No. 1 Fantasy option in Week 16 against the Raiders.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor is proving there is life after 30 for a running back with his recent play. In his past five games, Taylor has 470-yards rushing and three touchdowns, including over 100 yards in three-straight games. Taylor is playing better than Maurice Jones-Drew and has emerged as the go-to running back for the Jaguars. But this week he faces an angry opponent in the Steelers. Pittsburgh is No. 2 in run defense and leads the NFL with only three rushing touchdowns allowed. The Steelers have only allowed one running back to rush for over 100 yards this season.
Analysis: This could be a tough week for Taylor. Hopefully his recent play continues, but consider him a low-end No. 2 Fantasy option against the Steelers.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor rushed 18 times for 132 yards in Week 14 vs. Carolina, including an 80-yard touchdown. It was the longest rush in the NFL this season. Taylor also caught two passes for 24 yards.
Analysis: Taylor didn't do much outside of the one huge run, but you can't take that away from him. He's still splitting carries with Maurice Jones-Drew, but is seeing the better part of the touches. For Week 15 at Pittsburgh, consider him a low-end No. 2 back in Fantasy.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor is having a great stretch the past four games. Taylor has 338 yards rushing and two touchdowns against Tennessee, San Diego, Buffalo and Indianapolis. Now he faces Carolina, and the Panthers are No. 17 in run defense with 11 rushing touchdowns allowed.
Analysis: Taylor is coming on and doing well and should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy option against the Panthers.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor had 14 carries for 104 rush yards at the Colts in Week 13. It was his second straight game with 104 rush yards as he out-carried Maurice Jones-Drew 14 reps to 11.
Analysis: Taylor's day was highlighted by a 29-yard run, and he's running with better strength and vision compared to earlier this season. Taylor should continue racking up the yardage, not the touchdowns, when he plays vs. Carolina in Week 14.
News: In 12 career games against the Colts, Jaguars RB Fred Taylor averages 85.5 yards-per-game with five touchdowns, including four 100-yard games. Taylor is averaging 93 yards-per-game in past his past two contests vs. the Colts and heads into their Week 13 meeting coming off his first 100-yard outing of the season.
Analysis: Taylor showed a glimpse of the old Fred last week on a 50-yard scoring scamper against the Bills, but coming into the game he only had one touchdown and one game with 90 yards or more. The Jaguars lost two key blockers in their TEs Greg Estandia and George Wrighster last week, so it will be interesting to see what kind of difference that makes against the Colts. We rank Taylor as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB for Week 13.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor ran for a season-best 104 yards and a 50-yard touchdown in Jacksonville's 36-14 win over the Bills in Week 12. He also caught two passes for 14 yards.
Analysis: A bunch of Taylor's yards obviously came on one play, but he earned all of those 50 yards with a superb burst of speed on his way to the end zone. Taylor had three games of 80-plus yards rushing before Week 12, but this was his first triple-digit performance since Week 14 last season. Ironically, that game was against the Colts, Jacksonville's opponent in Week 13. Taylor will likely remain a No. 2 Fantasy RB against division-leading Indianapolis.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (thigh) is listed as probable for Week 12 vs. Buffalo. He went through a full practice Friday after limited reps earlier in the week.
Analysis: The once-fabolous Taylor is no longer a hot Fantasy commodity. Injuries play a part, but mostly 10 years of brutal hits in the NFL. Taylor is expected to face the Bills, but is nothing more than a No. 3 Fantasy RB.
News: For the first time in a while, Jaguars RB Fred Taylor appeared on the practice report Wednesday with a thigh ailment. He practiced on a limited basis Wednesday in preparation for Week 12 vs. Buffalo. Taylor did speak Wednesday and cautioned that the Bills will be a tough challenge for the Jaguars, one the team isn't taking lightly. "We don't have any reason for comfort," running back Fred Taylor said on Jaguars.com. "Sometimes teams get up with more urgency because they're underdogs. Those are stats. We're not gonna fall for that trap. They're a good team."
Analysis: Monitor Taylor's status if you're planning on using him as a No. 3 Fantasy RB in Week 12. He should be OK, but we'll know more as the week progresses.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor had 20 carries for 85 yards Sunday against San Diego.
Analysis: Taylor remains the starter for the Jaguars even though Maurice Jones-Drew is the more productive back from a Fantasy standpoint. Still, Taylor has played well recently and should be considered a low-end No. 2 option in Week 12 against Buffalo.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor, who, in Week 10 became the 21st player in NFL history to rush for more than 10,000 yards in his career, will get back to work in Week 11 against the San Diego Chargers. In two career games vs. the Chargers, Taylor has 151 rushing yards and a touchdown.
Analysis: Taylor has only got 29 carries in his last two games after getting 24 touches in Week 8. He is likely to lose more carries again this week to Maurice Jones-Drew, who got over the 100-yard mark for the second time this season in Week 10. Consider Taylor a borderline No. 2/No. 3 Fantasy RB in Week 11.
News: Jaguars running back Fred Taylor became the 21st player in NFL history on Sunday to rush for more than 10,000 yards in his career. His 15-yard run on the Jaguars' opening drive put him at 10,002 yards for his career. He carried 16 times for 45 yards, including his first touchdown of the season on a 4-yard run.
Analysis: Taylor, who has never made a Pro Bowl, holds franchise rushing records for a career, season and game. Taylor also has led the Jaguars in rushing seven of the past nine seasons. He's starting to lose carries to Maurice Jones-Drew (Drew had 19 carries on Sunday), but still sees about 15-20 touches in a rush-heavy offense. Consider him a No. 2 RB for Week 11 vs. San Diego.
News: ESPN reports that Titans DT Albert Haynesworth will miss Week 10 with a hamstring injury. That should loosen up the Tennessee run defense and gives Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor a better shot at making headway on the ground on Sunday.
Analysis: Jones-Drew and Taylor's outlooks are improved a little bit with Haynesworth out. Think of MJD as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB and Taylor as a low-end No. 3.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor will face the league's No. 1 rush defense in Week 10, as the Titans lead the NFL in rushing yards allowed at 66 yards per game. Jacksonville has the fifth-ranked rush offense, so we should be in for a nice matchup on Sunday.
Analysis: Taylor has disappointed many of his Fantasy owners this season, as he has only broken the 70-yard barrier twice and has failed to score a touchdown. Think of him as a No. 3 Fantasy RB or 'flex' option in Week 10 against the tough Titans.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor rushed 13 times for 54 yards in Week 9 at New Orleans. He also caught one pass for four yards.
Analysis: The Jags were in catch-up mode early on Sunday and had to stay away from the running game more than they normally would. Taylor led the team with his 13 carries and 54 yards. In Week 10, consider Taylor a decent low-end No. 2 running back or 'flex' option at Tennessee.
News: In the last game between the Jaguars and the Saints, in 2003, Jacksonville RB Fred Taylor had 194 yards on 34 rushing attempts and a touchdown. The two teams meet again in Week 9.
Analysis: The Saints' run defense ranks 10th in the league and Taylor has only gone over 70 yards twice this season as he continues to split carries with Maurice Jones-Drew. He also hasn't found the endzone yet in 2007 and thus we rank him as low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB in Week 9.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor carried 24 times for 68 yards during a Week 8 win over the Bucs. His longest gain went for 12 yards.
Analysis: Taylor carried the load for the Jags in Week 8 as Maurice Jones-Drew wasn't 100 percent with a knee injury. Taylor did a nice job, but still failed to eclipse the 100-yard mark for the seventh time this season. Taylor will continue to split time in the backfield with a healthy Jones-Drew, and even if does still carry the load Week 9 against the Saints, Taylor is nothing more than a No. 3 Fantasy RB.
News: Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew was limited in practice Friday -- the third consecutive day he's missed part of team drills -- and was listed as questionable for Week 8 against Tampa Bay. Jones-Drew hasn't missed a game in his short career and vowed earlier in the week to play Sunday against the Buccaneers. He sprained his left knee with about a minute to play Monday night against Indianapolis.
Analysis: If Jones-Drew doesn't play, the Jaguars will turn to starter Fred Taylor to carry the load. Taylor needs 135 yards rushing to become the 21st player in NFL history with 10,000. We already consider Taylor a low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB for Week 8, but if he sees most of the reps, he will definitely be bumped up to a high-end No. 2 Fantasy RB. Continue to follow the situation up until inactives.
News: In two career meetings vs. Tampa Bay, Jaguars RB Fred Taylor averaged 123.0 rush yards-per-game and scored a total of three touchdowns. Jacksonville head across Florida to play the Buccaneers in Week 8.
Analysis: Tampa Bay's run defense only ranks 21st in the league, but that's mainly because teams have struggled to pass on the Buccaneer secondary. Taylor will continue to split carries with Maurice Jones-Drew, and is averaging 12 rushes game so far this season. We consider him a No. 2 Fantasy RB in Week 8.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor ran 11 times for 55 yards Week 7 against the Colts. He also lost two yards on one reception.
Analysis: Taylor has yet to rush for 100 yards in a game this season and clearly plays second-fiddle to Maurice Jones-Drew. Consider him a No. 3 Fantasy RB when the Jaguars visit the Buccaneers in Week 8.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor, listed as probable on the Friday injury report, wasn't on the inactive list for Week 7 against the Colts, meaning he'll suit up and play.
Analysis: Taylor said earlier in the week that he was fine and expected to play against the Colts. Still, he has yet to rush for 100 yards in a game this season, making him a No. 2 Fantasy RB at best. Start him if you need him.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (groin) is listed as probable for Week 7 vs. Indianapolis. Taylor went through limited practice reps Thursday and Friday. Taylor played sparingly Week 6 against the Texans as he dealt with the same groin injury. The funny thing is that he had his best game of the season, rushing for 90 yards on six carries.
Analysis: Taylor said earlier in the week that he was fine and expects to play against the Colts. Continue to monitor his progress just in case he suffers any setbacks, but he is probable for the game and that is a good sign. Start him as a No. 2 Fantasy RB.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (groin) went through limited practice reps Thursday as the team prepares for Week 7 vs. Indianapolis. Taylor played sparingly Week 6 against the Texans as he dealt with the same groin injury. The funny thing is that he had his best game of the season, rushing for 90 yards on six carries.
Analysis: Taylor said earlier in the week that he was fine and expects to play against the Colts. Continue to monitor his progress just in case he suffers any setbacks. If healthy, start him as a No. 2 Fantasy RB.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor had his best game of the season with 90 yards on six carries, but most of his output came in the first half, including a 76-yard run on his first carry. He participated in just two second-half plays. "I'm good," Taylor said in the Florida Times-Union. "Coming out at halftime, my legs just locked up in the adductor area [of the groin], both sides. For the whole third quarter, they were locked up. When I finally got them to loosen up for me, it was a given that we were gonna win the game. So it didn't make any sense to get back in there."
Analysis: Taylor should be fine for Week 7 against Indianapolis. Consider him a low-end No. 2 option in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor's first carry in Week 6 vs. Houston went for 76 yards. He finished with nine carries for 90 yards and one catch for a loss of two yards.
Analysis: Taylor has yet to reach the century mark this season and should not be used as anything more than a No. 3 Fantasy RB for Week 7 vs. Indianapolis.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (groin) is active and will start in Week 6 vs. Houston.
Analysis: Taylor is a safe start as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy option this week.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor missed practice Friday because of a groin injury and was listed as questionable for Jacksonville's game Sunday against Houston. Taylor practiced Wednesday, then had limited participation Thursday. Taylor leads the team with 207 yards rushing, just ahead of Maurice Jones-Drew. Jones-Drew would start if Taylor doesn't play at home against the Texans.
Analysis: Keep an eye on Taylor's status prior to game-time to see if he does play against the Texans. If healthy, Taylor would be a low-end No. 2 Fantasy option this week.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor popped up on the team's practice report Thursday after taking limited reps in practice due to a groin injury. If healthy, Taylor will take on the ninth-ranked Houston Texans rushing defense in Week 6 as the Jaguars look to improve their record to 4-1 on the year. In his last four games against their division rivals, Taylor has averaged 15 1/2 carries for 74 yards, but hasn't scored a touchdown in the last three contests.
Analysis: Taylor is a No. 2 Fantasy RB this week against the Texans as he looks to edge his way closer to 10,000 yards rushing (he's 280 yards away). Taylor's best week this season is only 84 yards rushing, but he is running well enough to have 13 more carries this season than Maurice Jones-Drew. The Jags haven't announced grave concerns over Taylor's status, but continue to track the injury news.
News: Jacksonville RB Fred Taylor will take on the ninth-ranked Houston Texans rushing defense in Week 6 as the Jaguars look to improve their record to 4-1 on the year. In his last four games against their division rivals, Taylor has averaged 15.5 carries for 74 yards, but hasn't scored a touchdown in the last three contests.
News: Jags RB Fred Taylor had 16 carries for 51 yards and a 9-yard catch at Kansas City in Week 5. He tweaked his hamstring towards the end of the game but seemed to be OK.
Analysis: Monitor Taylor's status in the coming week, but don't expect Taylor to miss any playing time. Consider him a No. 3 Fantasy RB when he and Jacksonville hosts Houston in Week 6.
News: Jacksonville RB Fred Taylor's owned percentage has dropped 12 percent since the start of the season, despite the fact he rushed for 84 yards on 17 carries in Week 3 (the Jags had a bye last week) and has six more carries than Maurice Jones-Drew, who is owned in 16 percent more leagues than the veteran.
Analysis: Jacksonville play at Kansas City in Week 5, and the Chiefs have a solid run defense. Taylor should be nicely rested after getting his knee banged up two weeks ago and we have him as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB for the match-up with the Chiefs.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor was injured late in the third period Sunday against Denver when Broncos DB Champ Bailey put a helmet on Taylor's knee. Taylor returned for a key run in the fourth quarter for a first down, but that was his final play of the day.
Analysis: The Jaguars have a bye in Week 4, so Taylor should have time to get healthy for Week 5 against Kansas City. Continue to monitor his status and hope Taylor is OK.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor rushed 17 times for 84 yards in Week 3 at Denver. He did not catch any passes.
Analysis: Taylor had a pretty straight forward day. He saw the majority of the carries, although Maurice Jones-Drew had 15 in the game. Taylor should continue to see about 15-20 carries per game in a rush-oriented offense as long as he can stay healthy. In Week 4, he'll be on a bye week. View him as a solid 'Flex' option for Week 5 at Kansas City.
News: If Fred Taylor manages to find the end zone a couple of times in Week 3 vs. the Broncos, the Jaguars have a great chance at getting to 2-1. Thats because Jacksonville is 8-0 when Taylor has two or more rushing touchdowns. Taylor needs 415 rush yards to become 21st player in NFL history to reach 10,000.
Analysis: According to The Sports Xchange, it's going to be difficult for Jags QB David Garrard to make any headway through the air against the Broncos, so there's no time like the present for Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew (135 combined rushing yards in two games) to display the same punch they provided on the ground last season. The two have split carries evenly so far this season and are no more than No. 3 Fantasy RB options in Week 3.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor didn't shred the visiting Falcons defense as anticipated in Week 2, gaining only 56 yards on 16 carries -- and 29 of those yards came on a single run. He also caught an 11-yard pass.
Analysis: Yawn. Fantasy owners always hope for more from Taylor, but he rarely, if ever, delivers. Hey, at least he had more carries than Maurice Jones-Drew. Consider Taylor a lower-end No. 3 back for Week 3 at the Broncos, but understand they have a better run defense than do the Falcons.
News: Jags RB Fred Taylor has faced the Falcons twice in his career. On both occasions, he's owned 'em -- 245 total yards on 49 carries with two 100-yard games. He should have a shot at getting a third if the Jaguars build a big lead and let him get in some reps to grind down the clock.
Analysis: Taylor is a top-end No. 3 Fantasy RB this week. If you start three running backs in your league and Taylor is an option, give him some consideration even though he'll share time with Maurice Jones-Drew.
News: Jags RB Fred Taylor had 16 rush yards on six carries vs. Tennessee in Week 1. That's it -- no receptions. The Jags hardly had the ball in the first half and threw nearly twice as much as they ran the ball.
Analysis: Taylor's rough week should be offset by a good week when the lowly Falcons come to Jacksonville in Week 2. The Falcons allowed over 150 rush yards in their Week 1 loss at Minnesota, so Taylor should see more opportunities. Consider him a No. 3 Fantasy RB for Week 2 action.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor has four career 100-yard rushing games vs. the Titans. Taylor needs 487 rush yards to become the 21st player in NFL history to reach 10,000 rush yards.
Analysis: Taylor is unlikely to reach the milestone this week, but he is a good start against Tennessee. Consider Taylor a good No. 2 Fantasy RB this week against the Titans.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor rushed just 10 times for 38 yards in the preseason, including a touchdown.
Analysis: He's been called "Fragile Fred" in the past for his propensity to inury, but he's healthy going into the regular season and that's a positive. Taylor isn't expected to see much goal-line work this season. In fact, he's expected to be a primary rusher for Jacksonville but get pulled on passing downs and at the goal line. Ultimately, expect a decent amount of rush yards and not a lot of anything else from Taylor, making him a reliable No. 3 Fantasy RB.
News: How's this for a role reversal: Byron Leftwich's biggest play came on a short pass to Maurice Jones-Drew, who bounced off a tackle and raced 38 yards to the 2. Fred Taylor then came in and scored on the next play against the Bucs' second-string defense. Taylor finished the game with 16 rush yards on six carries.
Analysis: Taylor isn't expected to see much goal-line work this season. In fact, he's expected to be a primary rusher for Jacksonville but get pulled on passing downs and at the goal line, which is why it was such a surprise to see him in there to begin with. Ultimately, expect a decent amount of rush yards and not a lot of anything else from Taylor, making him a reliable No. 3 Fantasy RB.
News: In an interview with CBS SportsLine, Jaguars offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter explained that just because Fred Taylor is considered a running-downs back and Maurice Jones-Drew is a passing-downs back doesn't mean that they should be thought of limited to those roles. "They really did a nice job of balancing the workload between Fred and Maurice (last year)," Koetter said. "Fred's body has been through a few NFL seasons now and Maurice, in his rookie season, showed his explosiveness but might not be as effective if he was carrying it 25 times a game as opposed to 15 times a game. Because we do have a couple of proven backs, that gives us the luxury of picking our spots a little bit more for Maurice. ... (We don't want to) get painted into a situation where people can just brand us and say 'When Fred's in, we're only going to do this' or 'When Maurice is in, we're only going to do this.' We have to work hard not to get put into that position."
Analysis: The bottom line is that Taylor and Jones-Drew will split time, with FB/RB Greg Jones snapping up short-yardage and goal-line reps. Taylor should see a lot of rushing yards and not many touchdowns. Jones-Drew should see a lot of total yards (rushing and receiving), but it's unlikely he will match his TD total of 16 from 2006, thanks to Jones. Consider Jones-Drew a low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB worth a pick between Rounds 2 and 3, Taylor a No. 3 RB worth a look in Rounds 4 and 5, and Jones a decent insurance policy for both as well as a good reserve option worth selecting in the middle-to-late rounds.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor got a scare when the single-propeller, 15-seat plane he was on in Africa had the plane door fly open at around 6,000 feet, causing panic and prayer before the pilot landed at a nearby runway. "I thought that was it," Taylor said Monday following the final day of Jacksonville's three-day minicamp. "I put my head down and started praying. The runway was about two miles away, but it seemed like it took 10 or 15 minutes to get there." Taylor joked that it was the first time he felt like he was near death "since I was playing for (coach Tom) Coughlin."
Analysis: Taylor's offseason included another major event. He signed a three-year contract extension worth $23 million, hoping to finish his career with the Jaguars. Taylor ran for 1,146 yards and five touchdowns last year and averaged a career-best 5.0 yards a carry. He teamed with rookie Maurice Jones-Drew to run for 2,087 yards and 18 touchdowns and give Jacksonville one of the best running tandems in the league. The backfield should get even more crowded this season because multipurpose back Greg Jones has returned from a knee injury. It's a good thing Taylor is still around because he can continue to help your Fantasy team as a No. 3 RB.
News: Fred Taylor plans to end his career in Jacksonville, signing a three-year contract extension Thursday that could keep the 31-year-old running back with the Jaguars through the 2010 season. Taylor ran for 1,146 yards and five touchdowns last year and averaged a career-best 5.0 yards per carry. Agent Drew Rosenhaus said the four-year deal totaled $23 million. "This is a contract that effectively should help Fred finish his career in Jacksonville," Rosenhaus said. "It also rewards him as one of the elite running backs in the league." Taylor showed he was better than ever, teaming with rookie Maurice Jones-Drew to give the Jags one of the best running back tandems the league.
Analysis: Taylor will need a good training camp and preseason to keep his starting job, but will lose reps to both Maurice Jones-Drew and RB/FB Greg Jones throughout the course of the 2007 season. On the plus side, that will keep him healthier. View him as a No. 3 Fantasy RB for the time being, worth a pick in drafts between Rounds 5 and 7.
News: In an upcoming exclusive interview with CBS SportsLine, Jaguars RB Maurice Jones-Drew felt that the running back system currently in place in Jacksonville would expand, not shrink, in 2007. Jones-Drew not only expects to work with Fred Taylor again, but also with RB/FB Greg Jones, who missed all of 2006 with a torn ACL. "None of us are selfish, no one is going to say they want the ball," Jones-Drew said. "Different situations are going to call for different people. With all three of us back, it's going to be tough for teams to stop us. Now everyone is going to want a three-back system because they're going to see we're going to have more rushing yards next year. It's going to be good. I think we'll be all right."
Analysis: Jones-Drew and Taylor combined for over 2,500 total yards from scrimmage in 2006 (Taylor had 1,388, Jones-Drew had 1,377). However, Taylor only had six total touchdowns whereas Jones-Drew had 15. With Jones expected to take away goal-line carries and Jones-Drew to take a bunch of reps, Taylor's production should dip in 2007 -- and that's if the Jaguars decide to hang on to Taylor. Monitor this situation throughout the offseason.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor had seven carries for 26 yards in a Week 17 loss to the Chiefs. He also had one catch for 26 yards that went for a score.
Analysis: Jags RB Maurice Jones-Drew had an outstanding rookie season with 941 rushing yards, 436 receiving yards and 15 touchdowns. Because of his solid 2006 season, the team might think about trading Taylor, who had 1,146 rushing yards, 242 receiving yards and six touchdowns. Monitor the Jaguars offseason moves, but we forsee that Jones-Drew being the guy that gets the nod as the Jags starting RB in 2007. Making Taylor a possible No. 2 Fantasy RB next season.
News: According to the Florida Times-Union, Jaguars RB Fred Taylor is ready to return to the field Sunday in Kansas City. Taylor has a hamstring injury and was limited to two carries the last three games, he but said it wasn't a major injury and added he's set to play against the Chiefs. He also is looking for a contract extension. Taylor, who is under contract for the 2007 season at a $2.55 million base salary, said Thursday he wants a contract extension in the $5 million range. Although $5 million is the average salary for the top 10 highest-paid running backs, the Jaguars refused to give him a new deal last year and haven't indicated if they plan to negotiate a new one next year. Taylor, 30, believes his comeback from knee and ankle injuries that limited him to 11 games last year to becoming a Pro Bowl alternate this year should earn him a new deal.
Analysis: Consider Taylor a No. 2 RB for Week 17 but continue to monitor his status before setting your lineup. As for 2007, keep an eye on his contract status because with the addition of Maurice Jones-Drew, Taylor could be expendable.
News: Jaguars running back Fred Taylor returned to practice after missing last week's game against New England and could be back in the starting lineup. He's listed as probable for the game at Kansas City in Week 17. "I feel good. I feel pretty good actually," Taylor said. Taylor, who has 1,120 yards rushing and five touchdowns, hurt his right hamstring against Indianapolis on Dec. 10 and aggravated the injury on his second carry the following week at Tennessee.
Analysis: Taylor should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy RB for Week 17. Moreover, his probable appearance will push Maurice Jones-Drew to a low-end No. 1 Fantasy choice.
News: Notable inactives for the Patriots-Jaguars game in Week 16 include: Patriots QB Vinny Testaverde (No. 3 QB), CB Antwain Spann, DB Rashad Baker, DT Vince Wilfork, TE Ben Watson and DE Marquise Hill. RBs Laurence Maroney and Kevin Faulk and SS Rodney Harrison are active. For the Jaguars, WR Charles Sharon, RB Montell Owens, CB Ahmad Carroll, RB Fred Taylor, DE James Wyche, LB Jeremy Mincey and DT Tony McDaniel are inactive. Maurice Jones-Drew will start for Taylor.
Analysis: Keep the inactive players reserved for Fantasy purposes in Week 16.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor will miss Sunday's game against New England because of a lingering hamstring injury. Taylor, who hurt his right hamstring against Indianapolis on Dec. 10, aggravated the injury on his second carry last week at Tennessee and sat out the rest of the game. Taylor missed three days of practice this week, and coach Jack Del Rio downgraded him from questionable to out Friday. "He's just not ready to go," Del Rio said. "We'll give him the weekend to rest it, and hopefully we'll have him back at practice next week." Del Rio said rookie Maurice Jones-Drew will start in Taylor's place, and LaBrandon Toefield will serve as the backup. Taylor had started the previous 14 games, gaining 1,120 yards and averaging a career-best 5.0 yards a carry. He was voted the AFC's first alternate in Pro Bowl balloting. Taylor said he agreed with the decision to hold him out of Sunday's game. "I think that it's the smart thing to do at this point," Taylor said. "For my future, my well being ... I don't want to rip it. I don't want to tear it. I have all the faith and confidence in my team to get this win on Sunday."
Analysis: Reserve Taylor for Week 16 and monitor his status for Week 17 against Kansas City. Jones-Drew should get the majority of carries against the Patriots and is a solid No. 2 option. Toefield has minimal Fantasy value at this time.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor missed a second consecutive practice Thursday and remained questionable for the New England Patriots. Taylor strained his right hamstring Dec. 10 against Indianapolis and reinjured it last week at Tennessee. Tests revealed no tears and little bleeding, and Taylor was hoping to practice Friday. Taylor is fifth in the AFC with 1,120 yards rushing and is averaging a career-best 5.0 yards a carry.
Analysis: Keep an eye on Taylor's status before putting him in your lineup. If he plays, consider him a No. 3 RB option.
News: Jaguars running back Fred Taylor was more concerned about his health Wednesday than missing out on the Pro Bowl for the ninth consecutive year. Taylor sat out practice and was listed as questionable for Sunday's crucial game against New England. He strained his right hamstring Dec. 10 against Indianapolis and reinjured it last week at Tennessee. Tests revealed no tears and little bleeding. But Taylor was unable to fully stretch Wednesday and said he probably won't practice until Friday at the earliest. Taylor said if he can't go full speed by Friday, the Jaguars probably would decide to hold him out against the Patriots. "I want to play. I always want to play," Taylor said. "What my gut tells me is be positive. That's my mind-set. I'm going to try to play. I guess we'll play it by ear and see what happens."
Analysis: Monitor his status for the upcoming game. If he plays, he'd be a top-end No. 3 Fantasy RB against the Pats, who have been strong against the run. Also, if Taylor plays, he'd split carries with Maurice Jones-Drew, which limits his Fantasy value. Of course if he doesn't play, owners should start someone else. We should have a verdict on his availability by Friday.
News: The Jaguars are not so sure about Fred Taylor's availability for Week 16 against New England. Taylor re-injured his right hamstring on his second run of the game against Tennessee - a 35-yard gain in the first quarter - and did not return. Taylor has 1,120 yards rushing and five touchdowns this season.
Analysis: Keep an eye on Taylor's status before putting him in your lineup. If he does play, consider him a No. 3 option against the Patriots.
News: Jacksonville RB Fred Taylor aggravated his right hamstring Sunday after breaking loose on what could have been a touchdown run in the first quarter against Tennessee in Week 15 and did not return. Taylor ran 35 yards before pulling up and limping to the sideline. He tried loosening up his leg by riding a stationary bicycle on the sideline. Team officials first said his return was questionable. But he ran off to the locker room, and a spokesman said he would not return. The veteran running back had only nine carries last week against Indianapolis before straining his hamstring. On Sunday, he had two carries for 37 yards when injured on the Jaguars' second drive of the game.
Analysis: Taylor's owners who absorb the hit of his absence need to monitor his status before starting him vs. the Patriots in Week 16. Maurice Jones-Drew ran in Taylor's place.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (hamstring) returned to practice Thursday after sitting out the previous day and is expected to play Sunday at Tennessee. Taylor tweaked his right hamstring Sunday against Indianapolis.
Analysis: Taylor has started every game this season, running for 1,083 yards and five touchdowns. He surpassed the 1,000-yard mark for the sixth time in nine seasons. Count on him to be a fine No. 2 Fantasy RB in Week 15 at Tennessee.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor missed practice Wednesday because of a sore right hamstring, but coach Jack Del Rio expects him to play at Tennessee. Taylor strained his hamstring Sunday against Indianapolis. He ran nine times for a season-high 131 yards and a touchdown in the first half, but sat out the rest of the game. "We're optimistic we'll have him this week," Del Rio said.
Analysis: Taylor has started every game this season, running for 1,083 yards and five touchdowns. He surpassed the 1,000-yard mark for the sixth time in nine seasons. Count on him to be a fine No. 2 Fantasy RB in Week 15 at Tennessee.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor left the game against the Colts with an injured hamstring. He is not expected to return. Taylor had rushed for 131 yards and a touchdown before leaving.
Analysis: Taylor was having a monster game against the Colts. Continue to monitor his status before using him in Week 15 against Tennessee.
News: Fred Taylor has never been to Hawaii. The Jaguars running back considered taking his family there a few times on vacation, but decided to hold out for a possible Pro Bowl trip. It could finally happen this season. "It would be nice," Taylor said. "That's the one thing that not a lot of people know. Some of the younger guys, when they come on the team, they don't even know I've never made the Pro Bowl. We'll see what happens." Taylor is fourth in the AFC in rushing with 952 yards, behind LaDainian Tomlinson of San Diego, Larry Johnson of Kansas City and Willie Parker of Pittsburgh. He trails Parker by just 24 yards and has a chance to move up Sunday when the Jaguars (7-5) host Indianapolis (10-2), which has the worst run defense in the league. "I know where I am," Taylor said. "I can't help but know where I am."
Analysis: Consider Taylor a solid No. 2 RB for Week 14 against the Colts. Taylor ran for 74 yards in the first meeting with the Colts in Week 3. Taylor ranks 22nd in NFL history in rushing (9,319 yards) and needs 89 more to pass Earl Campbell for the 21st spot. Taylor is the only player in the top 22 to never make a Pro Bowl.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor had 22 carries for 101 yards in a Week 12 loss to the Bills.
Analysis: Taylor had a pretty good game on the ground, but his Fantasy week would have been better had he found the end zone. Consider him a No. 2 Fantasy RB for Week 12 at Miami.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (groin) is listed as probable for Week 12 at Buffalo.
Analysis: Taylor has 775 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the season. Consider him a No. 2 RB for Week 12 at Buffalo.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor had 24 carries for 79 yards and a touchdown in a Week 11 win over the Giants. Taylor scored on a 10-yard run in the second quarter. Taylor also had three receptions for 16 yards.
Analysis: Taylor now has 775 rushing yards and four touchdowns on the season. Consider him a No. 2 RB for Week 12 at Buffalo.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (groin) is listed as probable for Week 11 vs. N.Y. Giants.
Analysis: This is the third week in a row that Taylor has been on the injury report, but has not missed a game the previous two weeks. With David Garrard at the helm, Taylor should continue to catch plenty of passes out of the backfield. Taylor has been able to stay health (knock on wood) this season and should be considered a must-start No. 2 RB in any format.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor caught five passes for a team-high 71 yards in Week 10 vs. Houston. He also rushed 12 times for 63 yards.
Analysis: With David Garrard at the helm, Taylor should continue to catch plenty of passes out of the backfield. Taylor has been able to stay health (knock on wood) this season and should be considered a must-start No. 2 RB in any format.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (groin) is listed as probable for Week 10 at Houston.
Analysis: Seeing how Taylor has predicted a win against the Texans in Week 10, it is hard to believe he won't be ready to play. Consider Taylor a No. 2 Fantasy RB for Week 10.
News: The Florida Times-Union reports that Jaguars RB Fred Taylor has guaranteed victory over the Texans in Week 10. "We won't lose this time," Taylor said, referring to Houston's win over Jacksonville earlier this year, then clarifying that it was indeed a guarantee.
Analysis: Guaranteeing a win over the Texans may not be very bold, but Taylor has now put the onus on himself to put up a good effort. Consider him a solid Fantasy starter across all leagues for the Week 10 game.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor had 13 carries for 79 yards vs. Tennessee in Week 9. Taylor was not used much after Jacksonville got off to a big lead (four second-half carries).
Analysis: Taylor should put up a much better stat line when he plays vs. Houston in Week 10. Start him if you own him.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (thigh) is listed as probable for Week 9 vs. Tennessee. Taylor left the game in Week 8 in the third quarter when he fell on the ball while being tackled, but returned later in the game.
Analysis: Taylor is getting up there in age and his health status is a big concern. That is a big reason why the team is using Maurice Jones-Drew a lot more. Consider Taylor a good No. 2 Fantasy RB in leagues of 12-plus teams for Week 9 vs. Tennessee.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor rushed 15 times for 103 yards in Week 8 at Philadelphia, including a 15-yard score in the first quarter. He had to leave the game for a moment in the third quarter when he fell on the ball while being tackled, but returned later in the game.
Analysis: With David Garrard at the helm, the Jags decided to run early and often. They rushed 46 times as a team and there was plenty to go around for both Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew. Consider Taylor a good No. 2 Fantasy RB in leagues of 12-plus teams for Week 9 vs. Tennessee.
News: Fred Taylor was able to return to action Sunday after leaving the game in the third quarter with an apparent chest injury.
Analysis: He's over 100 yards and has a TD in the game. Fantasy owners should take a sigh of relief for now.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor left Week 8 at Philadelphia in the third quarter after falling on the football when he was tackled on a rush attempt. At the time, he'd already put up 95 yards rushing and a TD.
Analysis: His return to the game was questionable, but the injury did not appear to be serious. Taylor has been injury-prone throughout his career so his Fantasy owners will want to monitor his progress. Maurice Jones-Drew saw most of the carries in his absence. Luckily, Taylor put up nice numbers before the injury.
News: Despite having a pretty good game against the Texans in Week 7 (103 total yards with a costly fumble), Jags RB Fred Taylor is sticking to his comments about the RB rotation system hurting his attempt to earn his incentives. "You want to get into that rotation thing. I'm not getting into that," he said, adding he had no regrets for his comments. "Should I (have regrets)?" Taylor asked. "It's the truth. It's in the numbers. That's what it is. I'm not going to bite my tongue."
Analysis: So far this season, Taylor has 108 carries for 451 yards and Maurice Jones-Drew has 41 carries for 187 yards. He will max out at about 25 touches per game with the target being 20. That said, he will lose some reps to Jones-Drew each week. Consider him a low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB for the most part, including at Philadelphia in Week 8.
News: RB Fred Taylor rushed for 84 yards on 16 carries in a 27-7 loss to the Texans in Week 7. Taylor also had one catch for 19 yards.
Analysis: Taylor has been dealing with some off-the-field issues concerning his future with the Jaguars, but on the field he keeps on producing. Consider using Taylor for Fantasy purposes in Week 8 as the Jaguars play the Eagles.
News: According to the Florida Times-Union, with the recent news of Giants RB Tiki Barber's wanting to retire at season's end, Jaguars RB Fred Taylor is also thinking about hanging up his cleats. "I love what Tiki is doing," Taylor said on Friday. "He's getting out on top. He's a really intelligent guy and he's got lots of other avenues to pursue once he's done playing." Taylor has begun pondering his current situation with the Jaguars as he has about two years left on an incentive-laden contract. Taylor and agent Drew Rosenhaus approached the Jaguars before training camp to talk about a new contract and once again did so last week during the club's bye week. There has been no word on what took place or what was said during the most recent meeting.
Analysis: Taylor has been battling injuries the past few seasons and many wonder how much he has left in the tank. He has put up some good numbers through five games (367 yards rushing and two touchdowns) but with the emergence of RB Maurice Jones-Drew, Taylor's days could be numbered. Regardless of the future, Taylor is currently the No. 1 back in Jacksonville, who play the Texans in Week 7. You should play Taylor against a poor Texans defense.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor had 21 carries for 111 yards and a touchdown and added one catch for 32 yards against the Jets.
Analysis: Despite the emergence of rookie Maurice Jones-Drew, Taylor still dominated. He will look to continue his success in Week 7 against Houston.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor has always had an easy time playing against the Jets, rushing for 359 yards and two scores in his last three games against them. Meanwhile, the Jets haven't adjusted well to the switch to a 3-4 defense and are allowing 140.5 yards rushing per game.
Analysis: Taylor is coming off a horrible game against the Redskins where he just managed 23 total yards. There was no word of an injury, so just chalk it up to a bad week running the ball. The Jets come to town for Week 5 with their struggling defense and Taylor is considered a high-end No. 2 Fantasy RB.
News: Taylor had just seven carries for 16 yards in Week 4 at Washington and he tacked on seven yards with one reception.
Analysis: There was no word from the team on any injury, but we'll keep an eye on that for you if any late word comes out. The Jaguars host the Jets in Week 5, so if he is healthy, he is a solid play in most leagues.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor had 21 rushes for 74 yards at Indianapolis in Week 3. He was replaced at times by rookie Maurice Jones-Drew, who had 13 carries for 103 yards.
Analysis: It looks like Taylor will be held to around 20 carries per game. Keep him as a No. 3 Fantasy RB when he plays at Washington in Week 4.
News: Fred Taylor had 22 carries for 92 yards in Week 2 against the Steelers and he added three receptions for 29 yards in the 9-0 win.
Analysis: Taylor did a good job against a strong defense and he will have another test in Week 3 at Indianapolis. He is a decent No. 3 running back or 'flex' player for the next game.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor averages 5.3 yards per carry in five career games on Monday. The Jaguars' Week 2 matchup pits them against the Steelers on Monday night.
Analysis: Fantasy owners are always holding their breath when 'Fragile Fred' is toting the rock. He made it through Week 1 all right and produced solid numbers (21 carries for 74 yards and a touchdown). He remains a decent No. 2 or 3 Fantasy back or 'flex' player for Week 2 against the Steelers.
News: Fred Taylor carried 21 times for 74 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 against the Cowboys.
Analysis: Fantasy owners are always holding their breath when 'Fragile Fred' is toting the rock on Sundays. He made it through this game all right and produced solid numbers. He remains a decent No. 2 or 3 Fantasy back or 'flex' player for Week 2 against the Steelers.
News: RB Fred Taylor is looking to prove that "Fragile Fred" is gone. "If it was up to me, to not be hurt, to never have an injury, I'd go out there and rip down every record a running back has ever had in this league," Taylor told the Florida Times-Union. "People say I'm fragile. Things happen, and I would've quit a long time ago if I was fragile. You can't measure my heart. Two weeks ago, [doctors] did an X-ray of my chest and were like, 'Dang, you've got a big ole heart.' Seriously, this really happened. If you ask me, I don't think there's a guy tougher than me. I've got a high threshold for pain."
Analysis: Fragile or not, Taylor is healthy this week, but he faces a tough challenge against the Cowboys. He should be considered a No. 2 RB in all Fantasy leagues.
News: The Jaguars are likely to hold out Fred Taylor, wanting to ensure he makes it to the regular season in one piece, for Thursday's preseason game against Atlanta. In fact, coach Jack Del Rio doesn't plan to give any of his starters a whole lot of playing time against the Falcons.
Analysis: Taylor's Fantasy value gets a boost with Greg Jones' injury because he will once again be considered the team's full-time No. 1 RB. There is no other competition yet.
News: Jaguars running back Greg Jones will miss the season after having surgery Monday to repair a torn ligament in his left knee. Jones, the team's starting fullback and Fred Taylor's primary backup, injured his knee Saturday against Tampa Bay. Coach Jack Del Rio initially said it was a sprained medial collateral ligament, but tests revealed a torn anterior cruciate ligament. "It's unfortunate," Del Rio said. "He's a great football player. He's my kind of guy. I have a lot of respect and admiration for the way he plays the game and the way he prepares himself. I can't say enough about him. He's a great young man and I know he'll come back strong. We're going to miss him."
Analysis: The Jaguars had planned to platoon the oft-injured Taylor and Jones this season, using the 6-foot-1, 250-pound Jones in short-yardage situations and near the goal line. Now, Derrick Wimbush moves into the starting fullback spot and LaBrandon Toefield becomes Taylor's main backup. Taylor's Fantasy value gets a boost with this news because he will once again be considered the team's full-time No. 1 RB. There is no other competition yet.
News: Head coach Jack Del Rio told Jaguars.com that Taylor is still the team's starting running back despite reports that Greg Jones was still in competition for the starting job. "Fred's our starting running back. I don't know why there's a Fred watch," Del Rio said.
Analysis: 'Fragile Fred' is an obvious high-risk, high-reward back due to his propensity for injury. He shouldn't be drafted as more than a No. 3 back in most cases, and he should be backed up by Greg Jones on Fantasy rosters as well.
News: Taylor (hamstring) was able to play in Saturday's preseason game at Miami. He carried three times for 11 yards and also had a reception for 22 yards.
Analysis: 'Fragile Fred' is an obvious high-risk, high-reward back due to his propensity for injury. He shouldn't be drafted as more than a No. 3 back in most cases, and he should be backed up by Greg Jones on Fantasy rosters as well.
News: Unlike his toned-up return for May's mandatory minicamp, one in which he displayed more quickness and speed than in recent seasons, Jags RB Fred Taylor's workout Saturday morning was limited by a slight hamstring pull. It's an ominous start for a runner whose career has been marked equally by standout seasons and injuries big and small. Taylor strained his right hamstring during a conditioning test on Friday after he reported. Taylor did practice some Saturday before an estimated 2,500 fans. But the injury also made for more carries for LaBrandon Toefield, Greg Jones, Maurice Drew and others. "It's not major enough where he can't practice," head coach Jack Del Rio said. "We're going to give him a few days or a few practices until he's feeling like really opening it up. We asked him not to sprint 50 yards (at) top speed. We'll continue to bring him along. We're not in a big rush."
Analysis: This is another reminder why Taylor is known as 'Fragile Fred.' Taylor is an obvious high-risk, high-reward back due to his proneness to injuries. He shouldn't be drafted as more than a No. 3 back in most cases, and he should be backed up by Greg Jones on Fantasy rosters as well.
News: Taylor, participating in a conditioning drill on Thursday, suffered a strained right hamstring and was less than full speed for the start of training camp. "I really wanted to come out the first day and give the fans something to ooh and ah about," Taylor said. "It's kind of sad that the timing is so screwed up. That's why it's so hard to understand. Somethings in life you can't figure out why they happen. They just do. I don't know why it happened. I was rested and I felt great."
Analysis: And so it begins already for Taylor. The former University of Florida product has so much talent, but he can never seem to stay healthy. It is always one thing or another. Now, this injury is not something that is considered serious, but there is already that question. These types of nagging injuries are what keeps him from being a premier Fantasy running back.
News: Jaguars.com reports Fred Taylor (knee) is in terrific shape as training camp nears. "I can honestly say this has been my best offseason ever. My knee is fine. I don't think it's an issue," said Taylor.
Analysis: Taylor is an obvious high-risk, high-reward back due to his proneness to injuries. He shouldn't be drafted as more than a No. 3 back in most cases.
News: The Florida Times-Union reports Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio had a conversation with Fred Taylor, but he didn't convince him to attend the team's passing camp.
Analysis: Taylor is said to be in terrific shape, but he's still a gamble due to his age and past injuries. Look for him in the early- to middle-rounds.
News: The Florida Times-Union reports Fred Taylor is concerned that the Jacksonville Jaguars will cut him. "There are 31 other teams in this league, and I'm good enough to play for somebody," Taylor said.
Analysis: The Jaguars have said Taylor will remain with the team next season, but that remains to be seen. Greg Jones could become a serious sleeper if Taylor were in fact released.
News: The Florida Times-Union reports that RB Fred Taylor will not condition with the team this offseason, choosing to work out at home instead. He did say he would participate in all minicamps and on-field workouts. "I worked out with the team for eight years, and it might sound a little selfish, but now it's time for Fred to take care of Fred," said Taylor.
Analysis: Taylor will be 30 this year and has had seven seasons of carrying the load for 10 games or more for Jacksonville. He's a candidate to suffer a setback statistically in 2006 and should be considered as a weak No. 2 or decent No. 3 Fantasy running back.
News: The Jacksonville Union-Tribune reports that head coach Jack Del Rio believes Fred Taylor will have a good year because he won't spend this offseason rehabbing injuries, something he did the previous season. "We feel like Fred has something left in the tank, but we like the guys behind him," he said, referring to backups Greg Jones, LaBrandon Toefield, Alvin Pearman and Derrick Wimbush.
Analysis: Taylor will be 30 this year and has had seven seasons of carrying the load for 10 games or more for Jacksonville. He's a candidate to suffer a setback statistically in 2006 and should be considered as a weak No. 2 or decent No. 3 Fantasy running back.
News: The Florida Times Union reports Jacksonville Jaguars owner Wayne Weaver said the team will retain Fred Taylor in 2006.
Analysis: If this report is true, then the team would have less interest in adding a free-agent back the caliber of Edgerrin James or Jamal Lewis.
News: Jags RB Fred Taylor rushed for 787 yards and three touchdowns, adding 83 receiving yards in 2005 play. He missed five games and got hurt in a sixth, leaving him with some shaky results at points during the season.
Analysis: Taylor has slipped into being a strong No. 3 Fantasy RB because he loses carries and still has the stigma of being an injury-prone back. See what Jacksonville does with him and his role this offseason before deciding where he stands on your rank lists.
News: The Patriots rank 26th in total defense: Eighth against the run but 31st vs. the pass. Taylor should find some room against New England, but expect the Jaguars to throw more than pass and then lean on its defense to hold off the New England offense.
Analysis: Taylor could gain the majority of his yards in the second half if Jacksonville holds a lead. He'll fare decently against the Pats.
News: The Times-Union reports Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio said that he'll rest several of his players in the regular-season finale and that Jimmy Smith and Fred Taylor would be out before the fourth quarter.
Analysis: Owners should start Taylor with extreme caution. With Greg Jones hurt, it appears that LaBrandon Toefield could see some addition work for Jacksonville.
News: With Greg Jones out with a jammed neck against Houston, Taylor had to carry the load, and he responded with 101 yards on 22 carries. Now that the Jaguars are going to be in the playoffs in two weeks and with Jones' condition up in the air, Taylor will be the featured back and carry the brunt of the running load. LaBrandon Toefield showed he can fill in, as he scored three touchdowns against Houston but had just four carries.
Analysis: Jack Del Rio may opt to sit Taylor against the Titans to keep him fresh for the playoffs. And even if he starts, he may not play a complete game. Monitor the situation during the week.
News: According to the Florida Times-Union, Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio does not plan to rest his starters in Week 17. That includes the oft-injured Fred Taylor. "We want to win," said Del Rio. "It's a divisional game. It's our opportunity to win our 12th game."
Analysis: Despite the statement, expect Taylor to be rested as much as possible and the same goes for Greg Jones. Monitor the situation through the week.
News: Jags RB Fred Taylor rushed for 101 yards and a score with 11 yards receiving at Houston in Week 16.
Analysis: We knew Taylor could put up a game like this against the Texans. However, look for Taylor to be rested in Week 17 so Jacksonville has him fresh in the first round of the playoffs. Greg Jones might be back to run for the Jags in Week 17, or it could be LaBrandon Toefield.
News: Fred Taylor will start at RB for Jacksonville at Houston; RB Greg Jones is inactive with a neck injury.
Analysis: Taylor should start in most leagues as a No. 3 or 'flex' back.
News: With Jaguars RB Greg Jones (concussion) downgraded from probable to questionable for Week 16 at Houston, Fred Taylor is likely to start for Jacksonville, states the Florida Times-Union.
Analysis: Taylor plays hard against Houston but injuries have limited him in his last few games. If he's healthy, he'll do well. Use him as a No. 3 or 'flex' option.
News: Fred Taylor rushed 17 times for 61 yards and caught two passes for 13 yards in Week 15 vs. San Francisco.
Analysis: Taylor will continue to split carries with Greg Jones, who had 12 in Week 15, for the rest of the season. Expect similar production the rest of the way.
News: RB Fred Taylor will stay in the starting lineup, coach Jack Del Rio said Monday, even though he had only 19 yards on 10 carries against the Colts and had just two carries in the second half. But Del Rio said Greg Jones will continue to get carries.
Analysis: Taylor is frozen into a 'flex' option for owners. Don't use him as a starter otherwise.
News: According to the Florida Times-Union, Fred Taylor will remain the Jaguars' starter.
Analysis: That only means that he'll get the first look. He and Greg Jones will continue to split carries the rest of the season.
News: Fred Taylor started for Jacksonville and rushed for 19 yards on 10 carries in Sunday's 26-18 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. He shared carries with Greg Jones.
Analysis: Not a great performance from Taylor, but he remains a decent flex option for Week 15 against San Francisco.
News: According to reports, Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (ankle) will start vs. Indianapolis in Week 14. He will still share reps with RB Greg Jones, but Taylor should see the bulk of the work.
Analysis: Taylor is a good No. 2 Fantasy RB against the stiff Colts run defense.
News: According to the Florida Times-Union, Fred Taylor has been named the starter for Week 14 vs. Indianapolis. Greg Jones will also see carries this week.
Analysis: Taylor has missed the last two games due to an ankle and thigh injury. Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio plans on splitting carries between the two and seeing who has more success. Any time running backs split carries makes it tough to produce big numbers. Consider both backs no more than 'flex' options with the potential to post good numbers. You just don't know which one will do the most work.
News: Jaguars.com reports Fred Taylor (ankle, probable) practiced without incident Thursday and appears to be on pace to start in Week 14. However, there's still a chance he will share carries with Greg Jones.
Analysis: Fantasy Footballers need to check back with us over the next three days in order to make the best possible lineup decision between Taylor and Jones.
News: The Florida Union-Times reports Jaguars RB Taylor (ankle) practiced without incident on Wednesday, which indicates he might have a chance to take the field for the first time in three weeks against the Colts in Week 14.
Analysis: Taylor should be ready and able to play. The only problem is the matchup, which is a tough one. He's a starter in lineups that can start three or more running backs, and is good enough to be a No. 2 option if others aren't as strong.
News: Fred Taylor (ankle) is probable for Week 14 vs. Indianapolis.
Analysis: Greg Jones owners should expect him to get most of the carries even if Taylor is ready to go, which is always a question mark. Fred Taylor would be a risky start because he could easily leave the game early if he plays.
News: According to the Florida Times-Union, Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio has not disclosed Fred Taylor's status for Week 14.
Analysis: Greg Jones owners should expect him to get most of the carries even if Taylor is ready to go, which is always a question mark. Fred Taylor would be a risky start because he could easily leave the game early if he plays. Monitor this situation during the week.
News: Fred Taylor (ankle) has been declared inactive for Week 13. Greg Jones will start in his absence.
Analysis: Owners will have to life without Fragile Fred for at least one more week.
News: According to the Florida Times-Union, Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio decided Friday that Fred Taylor (ankle) will miss Week 13 at Cleveland. "I'm trying not to be selfish," Taylor said. "I can be selfish and say, 'just tape me up and I'll get out there and try to play.' I'm losing money every time I don't get on the field. ... Never question my dedication or my want and will."
Analysis: Despite being listed as probable on the injury report, Taylor will not be available again this week. He certainly isn't milking the injury since it costs him a $50,000 bonus every time he doesn't suit up. Both Taylor and Del Rio said that his ankle is improving and he's expected to play again before the season is over, but they're not sure if he'll be ready for the Indianapolis Colts game next week.
News: According to reports, Fred Taylor (ankle) did not practice Friday and is not expected to be available for Week 13 at Cleveland. "Fred is getting better, it's week-to-week, but he's not going to make it this week," head coach Del Rio said. "We both agreed that it would be best to give it a little more time. We are expecting him back this season."
Analysis: Del Rio is being cautious with Taylor, who has been prone to injuries throughout his career. Greg Jones will start once again in Taylor's absence.
News: The Times-Union reports Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio will wait until Friday to address the status of Fred Taylor (ankle). The running back is listed as probable for Week 13 at this point.
Analysis: Fantasy Footballers need to keep close tabs on Taylor's status. Greg Jones would start again if he is unavailable.
News: The Times-Union reports Jaguars head coach Jack Del Rio didn't reveal much about Fred Taylor's (ankle) status for Week 13, although he's listed as probable on the injury report. "I visited with Fred and told him, 'Let's make sure that we work on the conditioning, on the timing, on all the things that he needs to do to be 100 percent' and he agreed," Del Rio said. "So we're on the same page and we're working toward that so that he can help our football team win."
Analysis: Del Rio basically said nothing to make us believe Taylor will be back to face the Browns in Cleveland. However, be certain to keep tabs on his status throughout the week. Greg Jones would again start if Taylor were unavailable.

"I visited with Fred and told him, 'Let's make sure that we work on the conditioning, on the timing, on all the things that he needs to do to be 100 percent' and he agreed," Del Rio said. Analysis: Del Rio basically said nothing to make us believe Taylor will be back to face the Browns in Cleveland. However, be certain to keep tabs on his status throughout the week. Greg Jones would again start if Taylor were unavailable.
News: Fred Taylor was inactive for the Jags' Week 12 win at Arizona. Greg Jones started in his place. The move was pretty much precautionary since Taylor is nursing some injuries and the team is headed for a playoff run.
Analysis: This was bad news for Fantasy owners who needed Taylor for their playoff push. He could be skipped over again at Cleveland in Week 13, so definitely keep tabs on Taylor if he's on your team.
News: RB Fred Taylor was added to the injury report Thursday as probable with an ankle injury. The Jaguars say he's not really injured, but his timing and conditioning are off and they may rest him Sunday at Arizona.
Analysis: Taylor is probably nursing some wounds, and with a tough couple of games ahead, the Jags probably won't need Taylor at Arizona to help them win. Greg Jones would start in Taylor's place.
News: Fred Taylor managed to play in Week 11 despite an ankle injury, but he caught a cleat on the thigh in the third quarter and did not return. "Any other situation, I would have gone back out there," Taylor told the Florida Times Union. "But not coming on top of the ankle, especially since I kept getting the ankle rolled on." Taylor said he is unsure if he will play Sunday at Arizona.
Analysis: Taylor is not a dependable back at this point, especially heading into Week 12. Hopefully you grabbed Greg Jones off waivers if you're a Taylor owner.
News: Fred Taylor (ankle) started and recorded six carries for minus-8 yards in limited work for Jacksonville in Week 11. Greg Jones saw most of the carries in the backfield.
Analysis: No word on whether Taylor's ankle or lack of production was the reason for his departure.
News: According to a source close to CBS SportsLine.com, Fred Taylor will start for the Jaguars in Week 11 at Tennessee.
Analysis: Taylor was listed as doubtful to start the week. This means that Greg Jones will not start and he is no longer a recommended starter for this week. He will still see some touches and would take over for Taylor if he gets hurt. Taylor is a risky start due to his injury.
News: According to the Florida Times Union, Fred Taylor (ankle) will test his injury prior to kickoff and said he could play if his cutting ability is alright.
Analysis: Greg Jones should still get the start, but now you'll need to monitor the situation up until kickoff.
News: According to the Jacksonville Times-Union, Fred Taylor (ankle) worked on the side at practice with a trainer and is still listed as doubtful, a sign he'll probably miss his second consecutive game Sunday.
Analysis: As long as the injury lingers, Greg Jones will benefit from Taylor's absence. Jones had a spectacular performance in Week 10 vs. Baltimore so there is no need to rush Taylor back.
News: Fred Taylor (ankle) is listed as doubtful for Week 11 at Tennessee.
Analysis: Greg Jones has been solid in Taylor's absence, so Del Rio hasn't lost much in the backfield. Owners who have Taylor should have made the move to add Jones as insurance.

News: The Jaguars have listed RB Fred Taylor as inactive in Week 10 vs. Baltimore. Greg Jones will start in his place.
Analysis: No surprise as Jacksonville had Taylor listed as doubtful all week. Owners should sit the Jags RB.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (ankle) has been ruled out for Week 10 vs. Baltimore. Head coach Jack Del Rio said the team is hopeful he will be able to return soon, but noted the injury is not season-ending by any means.
Analysis: Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio wouldn't say who will start against the Ravens. But Del Rio said backup running back LaBrandon Toefield, who was inactive in three of the team's last four games, would be in uniform. Look for Greg Jones to start this Week and consider him a decent No. 2 RB against a banged-up Ravens D.
News: Fred Taylor is doubtful for Week 10 vs. Baltimore with an ankle injury.
Analysis: Greg Jones would start in Week 10 if Taylor is out, so owners should look to add him as insurance.

News: According to a source close to CBS SportsLine.com, Fred Taylor (ankle) will start in Week 8 at St. Louis.
Analysis: Taylor is a solid start vs. the Rams questionable run defense.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor (ankle), who was listed as probable all week was downgraded to questionable on Friday when the team found a bone bruise in his ankle, according to the Florida Times-Union. "He was OK throughout the week and practiced all week, but he's a little sore," head coach Jack Del Rio said. "So there's a little question in my mind, although we anticipate having him. I just want to be as accurate as possible [with the injury report]."
Analysis: This is eerily familiar to the Jags' last game in Week 6 at Pittsburgh, where Taylor sat out the contest. If he misses the game, Greg Jones would start. However, if he were to play at St. Louis in Week 8, Taylor could have a field day. Stay tuned and check back on Sunday for Taylor's status.

Analysis: Taylor should be reserved in leagues.

Analysis: Even if he starts, Fred Taylor is not an appealing option in leagues. RB Alvin Pearman would replace Taylor if he does not play.
News: Fred Taylor missed part of practice Thursday with a sprained right ankle and was downgraded to questionable for Sunday's game at Pittsburgh. Taylor injured his ankle late in last week's victory over Cincinnati. He ran 24 times for a season-high 132 yards, but sat out the final series after turning his ankle on a 2-yard run with about 4 minutes to play.
Analysis: Taylor isn't a great start to begin with considering the Jags take on the Steelers in Pittsburgh and this news diminishes his value for Week 6 even further.

Analysis: The inexperienced Barnes is likely to get schooled, making it harder for Fred Taylor to gain yardage against an already-tough Bengals defense.

"I think looking back, we'd like to see more running, more balance, especially the way the game unfolded with the way their pass rush was coming," he said.
Analysis: Del Rio, who has fooled the media before, may be using this as a ploy to trick the Jets. Or he could be sincere. Either way, Taylor has a better-than-average matchup against the Jets in Week 3 and should be considered for "flex" positions.
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor had 81 yards on 16 carries and 18 receiving yards on three catches in Week 2 action at Indianapolis.

We feel like he'll be able to help us from Day 1."
Analysis: Taylor's quickly becoming a popular No. 2 RB option, which could be great news for owners who took him to be their No. 3 RB. He should have a nice outing against the Seahawks to start the season.

"We'll monitor him during that first week," Del Rio said. "We want to see his strength continue to improve."

The thing that I heard was that it was the severity of an ACL; not as bad, but just below it, because of the combination of the two."

I'm not perfect and I understand that and the things that he can do better than I can do, I'm fine with letting him go out to do it," Taylor told the Florida Times Union. Tom Coughlin says Taylor's production has been slipping recently because defenses are trying to take away Taylor's cutback lanes. "It's hard when you play against a team that basically each week puts a shell over the top of the offensive formation and brings the safety down. These are good defensive teams and these guys are good tacklers," Coughlin said. Taylor should not be considered a top Fantasy RB anymore, but he is still a very good No. 2 RB in all leagues.
Analysis:
News: Owner Wayne Weaver likes Taylor and Stacey Mack splitting carries. "It adds a dimension. It freezes those linebackers when you've got those two guys in there together," Weaver said, according to the Florida Times-Union. Taylor shouldn’t miss significant time with the injury, however, so don’t downgrade him just yet. Stacey Mack will play if Taylor can’t.

News: Taylor was held out of Wednesday's afternoon practice due to a bruised thigh. "He was a receiver and got tangled up, banging his side a little bit in the process," coach Tom Coughlin told The Florida Times-Union. "I don't think it's anything." Despite the injury, Taylor is expected to play in Friday's preseason game vs. Tampa Bay. Taylor is already an injury risk, so this news is not surprising to Fantasy owners.

Taylor, however has suggested he hasn't been exploding through holes and planting his left leg on his cutback runs the way he did before last year's groin injury. Fantasy leaguers should not depend on him as a No. 1 RB, and should always monitor his health closely.
Analysis:
News: Taylor might appear with Stacey Mack in the same backfield at times. Tom Coughlin told the Florida Times-Union he is considering using both backs at the same time on occasion, although he won't experiment with the look in Friday's preseason opener. The Jags hooked up with the New Orleans Saints for a scrimmage on Friday, and Taylor's performance was not up to his usual standards. His offensive line struggled to open holes, and he seemed a bit tentative at times. Taylor does have the potential to produce great numbers, but his proneness to injury makes drafting him a gamble.
Analysis:
News: Taylor is running strong early in training camp. According to The Florida Times-Union, Taylor is showing no signs of the groin injury that hindered him for most of last season. Despite the good news, being cautious when selecting Taylor is advised due to his history of injury problems.
Analysis:
News: Taylor has showed up at camp in good shape and eager to quiet any doubts. SportsLine.com's Pete Prisco noted Taylor showed up at camp at 231 pounds - up from his usual playing weight of 225 - and he is running with ease and has apparently put last season's groin injury behind him. Despite a positive outlook now, smart Fantasy leaguers will certainly be aware of Taylor's long injury history on Draft Day and won't depend on him to be their top RB.
Analysis:
News: Taylor is fully recovered from last year's groin injury. SportsLine.com's Jay Glazer says Taylor will be ready for training camp. But Taylor's infamous injury history still makes him a very risky Fantasy selection.
Analysis:
News: According to The Florida Times-Union, Taylor (groin) had a "quiet but steady" minicamp. "Fred looked good this weekend," coach Tom Coughlin said. "I don't worry about Fred. He's going forward. I talked to him every day about different things I see, and he takes it and tries to do better." Taylor, who predicted that he will lead the league in rushing this season, has to be considered a very risky Fantasy player due to his proneness to injury.
Analysis:
News: According to the Florida Times-Union, Taylor intends to lead the league in rushing this season. Taylor also stated that his groin is feeling better, but didn't indicate that he is back to 100 percent. "I'm running fast enough," Taylor said. "I can't tell you too much. You'll see." Taylor has immense talent, but his proneness to injury makes him no better than an early-second rounder.
Analysis:
News: Despite reports to the contrary, the Jacksonville Jaguars are still shopping Taylor this offseason. The team is also listening to offers for Taylor's backup, Stacey Mack.
Analysis:
News: According to the Florida Times-Union, Taylor is not on the trading block. Taylor's agent, Drew Rosenhaus, has been assured by the team that Taylor will remain with the Jags for the 2002 season. Taylor has the talent to be a Fantasy stud, but his proneness to injury makes him a huge risk each and every year.
Analysis:
News: The Jaguars are reportedly looking to trade Taylor during the offseason. He reportedly fell out of favor with Head Coach Tom Coughlin and the coaching staff late in the season for not returning to action when the team believed that he was healthy. The Jags would like to deal Taylor to help re-structure their troublesome salary cap, and are said to be asking for a third-round pick in exchange for the injury prone tailback.
Analysis:
News: Jaguars Head Coach Tom Coughlin declared Taylor out for Sunday's game against Chicago due to the groin strain that has kept him out since Sept. 23. He appeared in just two games this season, and you'll need to monitor his progress over the offseason before considering drafting him in 2002.
Analysis:
News: Taylor (groin) has returned to practices and is working with the scout team. He might appear in the team's final game, and is a longshot to play this week. He has missed too much playing time to warrant serious Fantasy consideration at this point of the playoffs.
Analysis:
News: Taylor missed practice on Wednesday. Considering the severity of Taylor's groin injury, don't be surprised if he doesn't see another snap in the 2001 season.
Analysis:
News: Taylor is out for Monday's game against Green Bay. Considering the nature of Taylor's injury, don't be surprised if he doesn't see another snap in the 2001 season.
Analysis:
News: Taylor, still recovering from a groin injury, is listed as questionable for Monday's game. Don't expect him to be too productive this week if he does play. He is not at full strength.
Analysis:
News: Taylor received a second medical opinion Tuesday that indicated his severe groin injury could keep him out up to three months and possibly the remainder of the season, according to the Florida Times-Union. The diagnosis was that the injury still has not healed and will need more time to become healthy, and in the meantime Taylor has developed pain in his hip, a side effect of the injury. It's sounding more and more like Taylor will not play again this Fantasy season, although you should probably hold onto him until a final decision is reached, provided you have a deep enough bench.
Analysis:
News: Taylor has been told by a medical specialist that he should not return to action this weekend against Pittsburgh. In fact, Taylor could be out for an even longer period of time than what was originally diagnosed. Taylor tore the groin muscle completely off the bone back in Week Two, which is an injury that normally takes about three months to heal. "It's going to be very unfair for anyone to assume he will play any time in the immediate future," said Taylor's agent, Drew Rosenhaus. "He's just not healthy yet. He can't run full speed without tremendous pain. The Jaguars have done a very good job in working him but he's still in pain." Expect Stacey Mack and Elvis Joseph to continue splitting carries in Taylor's absence.
Analysis:
News: Taylor (groin) has been declared inactive for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh. Stacey Mack will make the start in his absence, with Elvis Joseph seeing some action as well.
Analysis:
News: Taylor (groin) practiced without incident on Friday, but he still needs medical clearance before he can play in Sunday's game against Pittsburgh. Even is he is able to play, however, he'd only be used on a limited basis. Stacey Mack will get the start in any event, so playing Taylor on your Fantasy team is not a wise move.
Analysis:
News: Taylor remains questionable for Sunday's game. He will likely be used on a limited basis if he does play. Taylor has been sidelined for over a month with a groin injury.
Analysis:
News: It is unlikely that Taylor will play Sunday against Pittsburgh. However, he is listed as questionable for Sunday's game. Taylor has been sidelined for over a month because of a groin injury.
Analysis:
News: Taylor (groin) has been declared inactive for Sunday's game against Cincinnati. Stacey Mack and Elvis Joseph will continue to split carries in his absence.
Analysis:
News: Although Taylor is listed as questionable on the injury report, he is not expected to play Sunday. He did not practice Thursday and probably won't return from his groin injury until Nov. 18. Stacey Mack, Elvis Joseph, and Frank Moreau will split carries in his absence.
Analysis:
News: Taylor has been upgraded to questionable for this week's game. His condition will be assessed at practice before the Jaguars make a decision. He still appears to be a very risky start for Week Nine.
Analysis:
News: Taylor, who missed his fifth consecutive game this weekend, looks as though he'll miss Sunday's game against Cincinnati. Taylor will go through some individual drills this week, but coach Tom Coughlin doesn't seem optimistic that he will be ready in time to play against the Bengals, saying that he expects Taylor to return "at some point."
Analysis:
News: Taylor has been ruled out for Sunday's game against Tennessee. He has been sidelined for over a month with a groin injury. Elvis Joseph will likely start at running back in his absence.
Analysis:
News: Taylor is not expected to play in Sunday's game. He is doing exercises but his progress remains slow. "I'm not even sure he'll be able to participate in individual drills [this week]," head coach Tom Coughlin told The Florida Times-Union. Stacey Mack will start in his absence.
Analysis:
News: Taylor has been ruled out of Sunday's game against Baltimore and his status for next week's game remains uncertain. "All I know is that, from week to week, they increase his exercises and change of direction," head coach Tom Coughlin told The Florida Times-Union. "It remains to be seen when Fred will be able to play. Progress is slow. I'm hoping he responds well this week, then we can make some kind of legitimate guess [about a return date] next week." Taylor has been inactive since severely injuring his groin on Sept 23.
Analysis:
News: According to the Florida Times-Union, Taylor will miss the Jags' Oct. 28 contest against Baltimore. Head Coach Tom Coughlin would not offer up a timetable for Taylor's return, so Fantasy owners must continue to play the waiting game.
Analysis:
News: The Jaguars have ruled Taylor out for their next game against Buffalo on October 18. Taylor is still recovering from the groin injury he suffered in Week Two.
Analysis:
News: Taylor, who is nursing a groin injury, is reportedly making some progress in his recovery. Taylor didn't play in Sunday's game against Cleveland, but he was off crutches for the first time. "It's going slow, but it's progress," Taylor told the Florida Times-Union. "I'm encouraged. It's just a matter of ice, ice and more ice." Taylor is expected to be out at least two more weeks due to the injury.
Analysis:
News: Taylor has a groin injury that will keep him out at least three weeks. Tests revealed a tendon had partially detached from the bone in the groin area. Coach Tom Coughlin said Taylor's status would be re-evaluated the week of Oct. 14. Stacey Mack, who now obviously becomes a very hot free agent pickup, will start while Taylor is out.
Analysis:
News: Taylor was helped off the field in the second quarter with a strained left groin. He did not return to the game, and will be re-evaluated on Monday. If Taylor is on your roster, you may want to consider picking up Stacey Mack, who will be Taylor's replacement if he's out for an extended period of time.
Analysis:
News: Taylor played well against a solid Pittsburgh defense in the season opener. Look for his success to continue against Tennessee this week.
Analysis:
News: Taylor has performed well against Pittsburgh in the past. But keep in mind that backup Stacey Mack might appear in some short-yardage packages, cutting into the output of the star RB.
Analysis:
News: Tom Coughlin told the Jacksonville Times-Union that backup running back Stacey Mack should see more work in short-yardage packages this year. Mack scored two TDs in Thursday's preseason finale, including a one-yarder. Taylor has sputtered in short-yardage situations in the preseason, and now might lose some goal-line carries to Mack as a result. Taylor, who has always been injury-prone, might also see a few TD opportunities disappear. His draft value might drop a bit with Coughlin's decision.
Analysis:
News: Taylor, who has nine consecutive games with at least 100 yards rushing, is battling a head cold and is taking antibiotics. This shouldn't prevent him from being able to start in Sunday's season finale against the Giants.
Analysis:
News: Jacksonville Coach Tom Coughlin has been vague about Taylor's status for Sunday's game in Cincinnati, although all signs point to him getting the start. He is listed as probable on the injury report with a bruise above his left knee, but says he plans to play. Taylor was limited in Thursday's practice but worked in early drills with the starters, which suggests he will be ready to go on Sunday. Expect huge numbers from the Jaguars RB, who has 347 yards rushing on 70 carries with four touchdowns in four career games against Cincinnati, although you should be aware that if the Jags run up the score early, he may be benched in the second half.
Analysis:
News: Taylor was limited in practice on Wednesday due to a deep bruise on his left leg. He is listed as probable on the Jaguars' injury report for Sunday's game against Cincinnati, and should be able to attempt to extend his streak of eight consecutive games with at least 100 yards rushing. Start him unless this injury situation changes dramatically.
Analysis:
News: The Jaguars will need to evaluate Taylor's sprained left knee during practice this week before determining his status for Sunday's game against Cincinnati. He suffered the injury during the third quarter of last Sunday's game, which was his seventh straight with at least 100 rushing yards. Hopefully Taylor will be able to play, as he's among the best options at running back during the Fantasy playoffs.
Analysis:
News: Taylor left Sunday's game against Jacksonville in the third quarter with the Jaguars leading 30-3. He seemed to suffer a minor injury to his knee that had been bothering him earlier in the year, but he remained on the sidelines and appeared to be in good condition.
Analysis:
News: Taylor is a must-start in any Fantasy league this week, as he goes up against Arizona's run defense, which ranks 29th overall. He's on a streak of seven consecutive games with at least 100 yards, and is a virtual lock to extend it on Sunday.
Analysis:
News: Topping the century mark for the sixth straight game, Taylor ran for 104 yards on 24 carries while catching four passes for 22 yards and a touchdown. A healthy Taylor seems poised to take any Fantasy team deep into the postseason.
Analysis:
News: Taylor may have reclaimed his place among Fantasy Football's top players with a memorable performance at Pittsburgh Sunday night. Taylor rushed for a career-high 234 yards and three TDs and also caught a TD pass. Those who have suffered through Taylor's many injuries were greatly rewarded for their patience. Great numbers against the usually stingy Pittsburgh defense proved that Taylor is still capable of performing like a Fantasy superstar.
Analysis:
News: For the fourth consecutive game, Taylor passed the 100-yard rushing mark, rushing for 103 yards on 21 carries. He had one touchdown and fell short on another, trying on two consecutive downs to convert a one-yard run. Taylor also made five receptions for 34 yards, and looks like one of the league's most promising backs for the stretch run.
Analysis:
News: Taylor may seek a second opinion on his sore right wrist, which he wore a cast on during Sunday's game against Washington. His 122 yards rushing suggest that the injury wasn't too troubling, but keep an eye on this.
Analysis:
News: Fred Taylor is suffering from a sprained wrist but will play Sunday's game against Washington with a cast on. He has been ineffective as Fantasy player this season, scoring one touchdown and rushing for 247 yards.
Analysis:
News: Despite missing most of the second quarter with a sprained right wrist, Taylor broke loose for 112 yards on 20 carries Monday night against Tennessee. He also added two catches for 27 yards. It marked the first time in his four starts this season that Taylor broke the 100-yard mark, a good sign that Jacksonville still can rely on its running game with the passing game currently slumping. He might be in line for a good second half.
Analysis:
News: Taylor finally saw the endzone against Baltimore, scoring on a one-yard carry in the fourth quarter. His 17 carries for 54 yards suggests he's still not getting the same blocking from his offensive line that he had in a magical 1998 season, so don't expect the superstar numbers he had that season. If you can get high value for him in trade, you might want to go for it.
Analysis:
News: On 15 carries, Taylor gained just 24 yards. Taylor is not getting the same blocking as he did in past seasons, and may have several disaapointing weeks this year.
Analysis:
News: Taylor gave a lackluster performance in his first game of the season Monday, picking up 57 yards on 14 carries. Give Taylor some time to regain his strength and stamina. In a few weeks, he should be his old self again, shredding through run defenses with ease.
Analysis:
News: Running back Fred Taylor, who has missed the Jaguars first three games with strained ligaments in his left knee, is expected to return for Monday night's game at Indianapolis. "Things are going to change," receiver Keenan McCardell said Monday. "People are going to defend us a little bit differently." Taylor worked out Monday morning and Tom Coughlin was pleased with what he saw. "He ran well, cut well," Coughlin said. "I expect him to take a normal spot in the rotation."
Analysis:
News: Taylor is not expected to play Sunday but will try to practice sometime this week. He is recovering from a partially torn knee ligament that has kept him out of action since the preseason.
Analysis:
News: Taylor is listed as questionable for the Week Two game against Baltimore. He missed the season opener and has been sidelined since the beginning of the preseason with a sprained knee. Don't expect to see Taylor in the game. Reserve Chris Howard will start. Jacksonville recently signed RB Chad Dukes to add some depth, if they need more punch at running back they will turn to backup Stacey Mack before they use Taylor. Mack is suffering from an ankle injury and is also listed as questionable.
Analysis:
News: Taylor has been suffering from a sprained ligament in his left knee and has been sidelined for most of the preseason. It now appears that Taylor will miss the season opener as well. Second-year RB Stacey Mack will start in his place should he miss the opener. Taylor has been a Fantasy star, when healthy. But he has been plagued by injuries throughout his career. Taylor missed six games last season because of a hamstring injury but still managed to rush for 732 yards and six touchdowns.
Analysis:
News: Taylor suffered a sprained left MCL in Friday's game. He will be sidelined for three to four weeks and will likely miss the season opener. Fantasy owners beware. Taylor is an excellent runner but is prone to injury. If you select him make sure you have a good backup. Choosing Taylor as your second RB might not be a bad idea either.
Analysis:
News: Believe it or not, Taylor's hamstring still needs some time to fully heal. Taylor says he still feels the soreness and knows only one thing will bring his leg back to full health. "It won't be until after the season, until I get a chance to rest it two, three weeks in a row doing nothing," Taylor said. "I mean, barely walking. Just laying on the couch. I might gain 15 pounds in the process, but I don't care. I'll gain 15 pounds to get my legs back to 100 percent."
Analysis:
News: Taylor, who has been frustrating Fantasy leaguers all year long with injury problems, scored on a one-yard run against Tennessee. He finished with just 44 yards on 16 carries and there were reports that he was not playing at 100 percent.
Analysis:
News: Taylor rushed for 136 yards and broke off a 41-yard TD run early in the fourth quarter when the Jaguars finally put away the Browns. He showed no apparent signs of hamstring problems that plagued him during recent weeks.
Analysis:
News: Taylor is not listed on the injury report for the first time in months, yet he is unlikely to get more than 20 carries, which still might be plenty to surpass the average of 173.9 yards the Browns surrender on the ground.
Analysis:
News: In his first significant action in a month, Jags RB Fred Taylor finished with 74 yards and a TD on nine rushes against the Broncos. Taylor looked just about back to form, but was still careful not to get himself re-injured as evidenced on his touchdown run when he hit open field, pointed toward the end zone, then slowed just enough to protect his tender hamstring.
Analysis:
News: Good news from Jacksonville Wednesday as injured RB Fred Taylor (hamstring) participated in a full day of practice with the first team offense. He is officially listed as probable for Sunday. James Stewart is expected to still start, but Taylor will probably get a dozen or so carries.

Analysis:
News: Jaguars starting RB Fred Taylor had to sit out practice on Wednesday because of the strained hamstring he re-aggravated last Sunday. He is officially listed as questionable for this week's game. Make sure he's playing before you start him - and even then use caution.
Analysis:
News: More injury trouble for the Jaguars Sunday as they again lost RB Fred Taylor in the first quarter when he reaggravated his ailing hamstring. He went down without contact after rushing seven times for 12 yards. Taylor will undergo tests Monday on the same left hamstring that kept him out of three games last month. Without him, the Jaguars turned to James Stewart, who finished with 25 yards on 18 carries and gave the Ravens no reason to fear the run.
Analysis:
News: Taylor left Sunday's game vs. Baltimore in the first half with a strained hamstring. He was replaced by James Stewart and did not return.
Analysis:
News: Last week Fred Taylor took the field finally healthy for the first time in weeks, and the Jaguars stud-back rattled off 128 yards and a touchdown in the first half. He had to leave the game in the second because of leg cramps, but for all intents and purposes he looked in shape and fully recovered. Of course it was only the Bengals. This Sunday's test with the Falcons should be a bit tougher.

Analysis:
News: After aggravating his sprained left foot Sunday at Pittsburgh, running back Fred Taylor is not expected to play this Monday night vs. the Jets. James Stewart, who is second in the AFC with 310 rushing yards, will start again. The Jaguars may also hold Taylor out of the following week's game with Cleveland. With a bye week following the Browns' game, the team could give Taylor several weeks off to completely heal.
Analysis:
News: Jaguars running back Fred Taylor says he wants to get back to full health before he returns to play on his injured hamstring. The team listed Taylor as questionable for Monday night's game against the Jets. Taylor opened practice Wednesday by riding the stationary bicycle, and didn't participate in practice. Looks like another week of James Stewart.
Analysis:
News: On the Fred Taylor watch, Saturday the Florida Times-Union reports that the Jaguars star running back said Friday that he will play Sunday against the Steelers. Taylor, who missed last week's game with a hamstring injury, said he had no pain in the hamstring following three days of practice. "Yesterday [Thursday] was all right, today [Friday] was a little better than all right, closer to good," Taylor said. "I'm not at great yet." Well, Taylor owners this is it, get him in your lineup. It's time for that first round draft pick to pay up.
Analysis:
News: On the Fred Taylor watch, the Jacksonville RB missed practice again on Friday and was still listed as questionable as of late Saturday. The Jags continue to state that Taylor will be a gametime decision. But considering he's been out the last three days, and backup James Stewart looked great rushing for 124 yards last week, the chances of Taylor actually playing are very slim. Bench him.
Analysis:
News: The outlook just keeps getting worse for Fred Taylor owners as it's appearing less and less likely that the star RB will play on Sunday. Taylor missed another day of practice on Thursday, only working out lighly on the sidelines. Considering it's already Friday, plan on benching Taylor and watching all the James Stewart owners gobble up the Fantasy points.
Analysis:
News: Time to get nervous in Jacksonville. Wednesday, starting RB Fred Taylor was very limited in practice because of his hamstring pull. According to Taylor and the team he is "50-50" and questionable to start this Sunday. If he can't go, look for backup James Stewart to rack up good numbers again against the Titans.

News: O.K. he's ready. Jaguars starting RB Fred Taylor was simply awesome in Thursday's game versus the Chiefs. Looking quick and in perfect stride, the second-year back ripped off touchdown runs of 16 and 86 yards in the first half. He finished with seven carries for 105 yards and looked to be what everyone has been saying all year - the second best Fantasy back in the NFL.
Analysis:
News: Jacksonville's starting RB Fred Taylor bruised his ribs in practice Tuesday and may sit out Friday's game against Carolina. The injury is not serious.
Analysis:
News: Whoever said that rookie running backs need a couple of seasons to "warm up", didn't account for Taylor bursting onto the scene last year. 1,644 total yards and 17 TDs later, he was the league's third best Fantasy RB in 1998, behind only Davis and Anderson. All this, and he wasn't even the starting tailback until week five. He's quick and strong, and has excellent hands. Last year he caught 44 passes, three of which were for touchdowns. Playing a full season as the starter, with Mark Brunell and behind one of the NFL's largest and best offensive lines, Taylor should find plenty of open running lanes to barrel through. In the potent Jacksonville offense, he'll have no trouble hitting the 1,250 yard mark and ahould also run in 13-15 TDs.
