News: The Cowboys spent two draft picks in April on the defensive side of the ball, going with UNC LB Bruce Carter in Round 2 and Buffalo CB Josh Thomas in Round 5. Carter is working his way back from a knee injury suffered in college and is expected to battle for an inside linebacker job this summer. Thomas adds depth to the secondary.
Analysis: Carter has plenty of upside lining up in the middle of the Cowboys' defense. The knee injury will scare off Fantasy owners from using a pick on him in seasonal drafts, but the upside to rack up tackles is too strong to forget about him in long-term leagues. We'd spend a middle- to late-round pick on Carter in dynasty/keeper leagues and a mid-round pick in rookie-only drafts. Thomas isn't worth drafting in any Fantasy league.
