Josh Thomas picks off first career pass

(11/24/2013) Panthers defensive back Josh Thomas didn't factor into many plays in Week 12, but he came up with one big one in a 20-16 win over the Dolphins. Thomas ended Miami's first drive of the game when he picked off quarterback Ryan Tannehill for his first career interception. He added one tackle in the game.

(11/3/2013) The Panthers' list of inactives for Week 9 against the Falcons includes wide receiver Marvin McNutt (ankle), wide receiver Tavarres King, defensive back Josh Thomas, defensive back Josh Norman, tight end Brandon Williams, defensive lineman Stone Fua and defensive lineman Wes Horton. King, Thomas, Norman, Williams, Fua and Horton are all healthy scratches.

(10/23/2013) The Panthers' injury report for Thursday's game at Tampa Bay includes five defenders. Four are probable: linebacker Chase Blackburn (foot), safety Robert Lester (hamstring), safety Colin Jones (non-injury-related) and cornerback Josh Thomas (illness).

Defensive tackle Dwan Edwards (hamstring) is listed as questionable, but coach Ron Rivera has already said Edwards won't play.


Panthers shuffling lineup at cornerback

(10/2/2013) Panthers coach Ron Rivera said cornerback Josh Thomas will return to the starting lineup Week 5 at Arizona after sitting out Week 3 vs. N.Y. Giants with a concussion. Though, Rivera said Melvin White and Drayton Florence will remain in the mix for playing time.

"We’re not going to forget about the other guys. White and Florence have to play, they need opportunities," he said.

(9/20/2013) The Panthers enter Week 3 against the Giants with three players considered Questionable for Sunday's game. All three are on the defensive side of the ball, as defensive backs James Dockery (thumb/shoulder) and Josh Thomas (concussion), as well as defensive lineman Dwan Edwards (thigh) all head into the game with their statuses up in the air. All three were limited through the week of practice due to their injuries.

(9/16/2013) Panthers coach Ron Rivera announced Monday safety Charles Godfrey has been lost for the season with an Achilles injury, but that wasn't the only bad news he had about the secondary. Safety Quintin Mikell is doubtful for Week 3 vs. N.Y. Giants with an ankle injury and cornerback Josh Thomas is visiting with a doctor to undergo concussion tests.

(9/3/2011) The Cowboys made their final cuts on Saturday in order to get down to the league-mandated 53 players, and there were some notable subtractions. Among the players released were FBs Chris Gronkowski, Jason Pociask Shaun Chapas and Isaiah Greenhouse; WRs Tysson Poots, Manuel Johnson, Lyle Leong and Teddy Williams; DBs Akwasi Owusu-Ansah, Mario Butler, Chris Randle, Andrew Sendejo, Josh Thomas and Collin Zych; LBs Mike Balogun, Kenwin Cummings, Orie Lemon, and Brandon Williams; DE Jimmy Saddler-McQueen and RB Lonyae Miller.

Cowboys draft two defenders


(5/6/2011) The Cowboys spent two draft picks in April on the defensive side of the ball, going with UNC LB Bruce Carter in Round 2 and Buffalo CB Josh Thomas in Round 5. Carter is working his way back from a knee injury suffered in college and is expected to battle for an inside linebacker job this summer. Thomas adds depth to the secondary.
