Carey helps carry defense

News: Lions defensive back Don Carey notched eight tackles, including two for a loss, during Detroit's 38-10 loss at Arizona in Week 15. Carey finished second on the team in tackles behind only linebacker Stephen Tulloch, who racked up 10 stops.
Analysis: After struggling upon his promotion to the active roster in early November, Carey has surged during the month of December. He has tallied at least six tackles in all three games to boost his season total to 25 tackles. Still, his Fantasy value remains marginal at this point.

Carey has two interceptions

News: Lions defensive back Don Carey had a career game in Week 13 against the Colts on Sunday. Carey had seven tackles, including three solo, and two interceptions. He came into the game with one career interception.
Analysis: Carey is a low-end defensive back despite the interceptions in this game. He should not be started in most leagues in Week 14 at Green Bay.

Carey added to Lions roster

News: The Lions announced Thursday cornerback Bill Bentley was placed on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. He was replaced on the roster by safety Don Carey.
Analysis: Carey will be just secondary depth for the Lions and has no Fantasy appeal at this time.

Carey signs with Lions

News: The Detroit Lions signed DB Don Carey on Tuesday following a recent tryout. Carey was cut by Jacksonville prior to the start of the season.
Analysis: Carey, a former sixth-round selection in the NFL Draft, was claimed by the Jaguars last year before landing on injured reserve. He will likely serve as a backup in Detroit and should not be considered a worthwhile Fantasy option for now.

Jags reveal final roster

News: The Jaguars made several moves on Saturday on the way to cutting down to the NFL -mandated 53 players. Among the cuts were DB Don Carey, LB Jacob Cutrera, S Matt Estrada, RB DuJuan Harris, DE Larry Hart, CB T.J. Heath, LS Jake Ingram, WR Dontrelle Inman, CB Jalil Johnson, DT Andrew Lewis, LB Mike Lockley, LB Scott Lutrus, DE Odrick Ray, and CB Terrence Wheatley.
Analysis: None of the players mentioned were expected to do much in Fantasy play this season, so continue to ignore them until they prove otherwise.

Carey comes back from injury

News: Jaguars DB Don Carey appeared to suffer an injury early in the Week 15 game in Indianapolis. He returned shortly after and finished with seven tackles in the game, a 34-24 loss to the Colts.
Analysis: Carey has never been in double figures in tackles this season and has just one interception with no sacks. He's not a big-time Fantasy option in any format.

Carey penalized for big hit

News: Jaguars safety Don Carey has been penalized for unnecessary roughness for a helmet-to-helmet hit that left him sprawled on the turf. Carey arrived after Dallas tight end Jason Witten caught a pass deep in Jacksonville territory. He had some running room before going into Witten. Carey wound up on his back for several minutes, tended to by trainers while teammates were on a knee in prayer. Meanwhile, an official announced the penalty against him. A fine is likely to follow under the NFL's enhanced scrutiny on these kind of hits. Once Carey was determined to be OK, he was helped up and even bounced up, showing he was fine as he headed to the sideline. The team announced Carey had a neck injury and could not return. There were 12 minutes left in the fourth quarter and Jacksonville was up 28-10 when the injury occurred.
Analysis: Carey suffered the definition of adding insult to injury in the Week 8 game. He hits Witten, injures his neck and gets carted off the field and still is given the penalty. Tough break for the safety, who has just 17 tackles on the season. Carey is not a recommended Fantasy IDP player. The Jaguars are on bye in Week 9 and return Week 10 against Houston.

Jaguars make roster moves

News: The Jacksonville Jaguars waived four rookies and placed rookie cornerback Don Carey on injured reserve to set their roster at 75 players. The following players were waived: tight end Tyler Lorenzen, defensive tackle Jervonte Jackson and wide receivers Clarence Denmark and Maurice Dupree.
Analysis: None of these players are expected to be productive now or in the future, so Fantasy owners should pass on them.

Browns swap DBs Thursday

News: The Browns signed free agent defensive back Brandon Anderson. The team also waived rookie defensive back Don Carey.
Analysis: Even though Anderson is now in camp, it could be an uphill battle for him to make the roster. It's still safe to ignore Anderson and Carey in Fantasy IDP leagues.

Browns sign rookies Carey, Francies

News: The Cleveland Browns have signed three draft picks, cornerbacks Don Carey and Coye Francies and running back James Davis. The signings were announced by the team Wednesday. No contract terms were disclosed. Carey was picked out of Norfolk State, Francies played at San Jose State and Oregon State and Davis was a four-year letterman at Clemson. The Browns also waived LB Jonathan Foster, DB Nate Ness and RB Marcus Thomas.
Analysis: Carey and Francies have minimal Fantasy value in IDP leagues this year and should be avoided on Draft Day. Ignore Foster, Ness and Thomas in all formats until they sign with a team and are guaranteed playing time.
