by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(11/25/2013) The Seahawks have contacted free agent cornerback Antoine Winfield, a source told FOX Sports.

Winfield announced his retirement at the end of training camp with Seattle. However, he's been working out and has heard from several teams but has turned down all offers.

(10/14/2013) Several contending teams are in contact with free agent cornerback Antoine Winfield, league sources told CBSSports.com NFL Insider Jason La Canfora. Winfield, who resumed working out a few weeks ago after originally planning to retire, would like to return sooner rather than later.

A team source said the struggling Vikings are also in contact with Winfield. While a reunion with Minnesota is possible, Winfield wants the chance to win a Super Bowl title and might choose a contender over Minnesota.

Antoine Winfield open to a return

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(9/25/2013) Free agent corner Antoine Winfield has been working out in Houston and is considering a possible return to the league, according to ESPN.com. According to the report, Winfield is considered a return to the league in the right situation.

The Vikings were attempting to talk Winfield out of his retirement earlier in the season, and would presumably be interested in his services if he expressed interest in return. And that interest might be mutual, as Winfield's agent told the St. Paul Pioneer Press Sept. 11.

"Antoine definitely appreciates coach [Leslie Frazier], and some of his best friends in life play on that team right now," Ashanti Webb said.

Vikings safety hoping to talk Antoine Winfield out of retirement

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/5/2013) Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said Wednesday he texted former cornerback Antoine Winfield, who chose to retire after spending the preseason with Seattle. Frazier said he's not trying to talk Winfield out of retirement, but safety Jamarca Sanford is taking a different approach, according to The Star Tribune.

"I will most definitely call him and try and talk him out of retirement," Sanford said. "I'm pretty sure coach Frazier isn't going to call him or nobody at the top [of the organization] is going to call him. But I'm for sure going to reach out to him and see what he's thinking."

Sanford believes Winfield can still play at a high level.

"I'm not convinced that that he's done because I know how much he loves the game," Sanford said. "But as of right now, he said he's retired. Everybody reaches that point in their career where they just ride off in the sunset."

(8/31/2013) Injuries and age have caught up with cornerback Antoine Winfield, who told the Seahawks on Saturday that he planned on retire, according to ESPN.

The 36-year-old Winfield was signed by Seattle in the offseason to replace Marcus Trufant as the nickel corner, but injuries kept him out of the last two preseason games and allowed young corners such as Byron Maxwell and Jeremy Lane to show their talents.

Winfield played 14 seasons in the NFL, mostly as a starter with Buffalo and Minnesota. He finished his career with 27 interceptions and three Pro Bowl berths with the Vikings.

(8/31/2013) Antoine Winfield has been a starter for 13 years in the league, but CBS Sports NFL Insider Jason La Canfora is reporting that the cornerback will be released Saturday by the Seahawks. La Canfora believed the team was trying to trade him.

The 36-year-old Winfield signed with the Seahawks in April with the intention of playing on a Super Bowl winner after spending his career with Buffalo and Minnesota.

Winfield has started 173 of 191 games in which he's played and has recorded 27 interceptions.

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer

Vikings to cut Winfield's playing time?

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(2/26/2013) 1500ESPN in Minneapolis reports the Vikings have plans to move cornerback Antoine Winfield into a part-time role. "I hope going forward ... he doesn't need to be playing 60, 70 snaps (a game)," Frazier said at the NFL combine. "It's not good for him. I don't think it's the best thing for our team. We need him to be able to stay healthy, help us in the classroom, help us on the field. So, we definitely want him back, but we do need to reduce his snaps."
