Falcons list inactives for Week 16 Falcons list inactives for Week 16 Updated 12/21/2008
Marcus Pollard, TE ATL
News: The Falcons listed QB D.J. Shockley, DB Glenn Sharpe, DB Eric Brock, LB Tony Gilbert, DL Simon Fraser and TE Marcus Pollard among their inactives for Week 16 at Minnesota. Analysis: None of these players ever does enough statistically to matter in Fantasy. Leave them all on waivers.
Falcons make roster moves Falcons make roster moves Updated 12/17/2008
Marcus Pollard, TE ATL
News: The Falcons placed WR Laurent Robinson and CB David Irons on Injured Reserve on Tuesday, elevating DB Eric Brock from the practice squad and signing free-agent TE Marcus Pollard to take their place. Analysis: Robinson missed several games this season with a hamstring injury and will be considered a candidate for a breakout 2009 since it will be his third season in the NFL. He and all the others listed here aren't worth a look in Fantasy play at this time.
Falcons announce roster cuts Falcons announce roster cuts Updated 8/30/2008
Marcus Pollard, TE NE
News: The Falcons waived the following players Saturday as they cut their roster down to 53 players: QB Joey Harrington, OL D'Anthony Batiste, S Eric Brock, OL Michael Butterworth, S Deke Cooper, C Doug Datish, DE Willie Evans, CB Wilrey Fontenot, OL Kynan Forney, DE Brandon Miller of Georgia, DT Rashad Moore, OL Terrance Pennington, LB Mickey Pimentel, TE Marcus Pollard, CB Glenn Sharpe, DT Montavious Stanley, S Daren Stone, LB Cameron Vaughn, WR Eric Weems, WR Chandler Williams, TE Keith Zinger. Analysis: Clearly, none of these players were being considered for significant playing time anyway. They may clear waivers and could be on the practice squad, but won't be worth owning in Fantasy.
Pollard lands with Falcons Pollard lands with Falcons Updated 8/24/2008
Marcus Pollard, TE NE
News: The Falcons signed veteran tight end Marcus Pollard on Sunday, adding experience and a receiving threat at the position. Pollard, a 14-year veteran, was released by New England on Wednesday. He has 349 career receptions for 4,280 yards and 40 touchdowns in 13 seasons, most with Indianapolis. He led Seattle tight ends with 28 catches for 273 yards last season and signed with New England as a free agent in April. Analysis: Pollard should help the progress of the Atlanta offense and be a little-used short-area target. He's not worth a draft pick or roster spot in leagues at this time.
Pollard dumped by Patriots Pollard dumped by Patriots Updated 8/19/2008
Marcus Pollard, TE NE
News: The Patriots released 13-year veteran tight end Marcus Pollard on Tuesday. Pollard signed with the Patriots on April 23 after being released by Seattle, where he spent one season. He played his first 10 seasons with Indianapolis and two with Detroit. "It wasn't really going to work out here the way that we had hoped and he had hoped," coach Bill Belichick said. "At the same time, there are still a couple preseason games left and time before the season opener and I think there are some other teams that are looking for tight ends and maybe there is a better opportunity for him somewhere else." Analysis: In 191 games, including 133 starts, Pollard caught 349 passes for 4,280 yards and 40 touchdowns. Last season, he had 28 catches for 273 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games. Don't count on him to be an asset in Fantasy play this year.
Pats sign TE DeVree, release Pollard Pats sign TE DeVree, release Pollard Updated 8/19/2008
Marcus Pollard, TE NE
News: According to the team's official site, the New England Patriots have signed rookie tight end Tyson DeVree and released tight end Marcus Pollard on Tuesday. Analysis: DeVree was originally signed by the Pats as a rookie free agent on May 5, 2008 and was released June 11. The 6-foot-6, 245-pound tight end played in 44 collegiate games at Colorado and Western Michigan, making 96 receptions for 987 yards and 15 receiving touchdowns. He doesn't figure to see enough of the field on Sunday's to be a relevant Fantasy option. Pollard will probably catch on elsewhere but probably won't see much time on the field either and even with a team would be a considered someone with minimal Fantasy value.
TE Pollard fitting in with Pats TE Pollard fitting in with Pats Updated 6/9/2008
Marcus Pollard, TE NE
News: Patriots head coach Bill Belichick had an encouraging review of new TE Marcus Pollard after the team's recent minicamp. He said Pollard's experience -- he has career totals of 349 catches and 40 touchdowns -- is valuable. "Marcus knows the passing game. He has a lot of experience in offenses such as Indianapolis' and Mike Martz's West Coast offense" while with Detroit, Belichick said. Analysis: Looks like Pollard was recruited to catch the ball, not block. That's what he used to do best before years in Detroit and Seattle ended his productivity. Figure him to be a low-end one-week replacement option in Fantasy play this summer, only worth a pick in the deepest of Fantasy Football drafts, though he would see a jump in stats if Ben Watson were to miss significant playing time.
Patriots sign TE Marcus Pollard Patriots sign TE Marcus Pollard Updated 4/23/2008
Marcus Pollard, TE SEA
News: The New England Patriots signed veteran tight end Marcus Pollard on Wednesday. Pollard has been in the league for 13 seasons with Indianapolis, Detroit and Seattle. He has 349 catches for 4,280 yards and 40 touchdowns in 191 career games. The 36-year-old led Seattle's tight ends last season with 28 receptions for 273 yards and two touchdowns. Analysis: Pollard isn't expected to total many statistics with the Patriots (Benjamin Watson is their main receiving target at tight end). Thus, he can be ignored for now in Fantasy league play.
TE Pollard underwhelms in 2007 TE Pollard underwhelms in 2007 Updated 2/11/2008
Marcus Pollard, TE SEA
News: Signed to be a receiving tight end for the Seahawks in 2007, TE Marcus Pollard caught 28 passes for 273 yards (9.8 avg.) with two touchdowns. He is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. Analysis: Pollard will be 36 when the 2008 season opens and is no lock to start no matter where he ends up this offseason. Keep him out of Fantasy draft plans this summer.
Pollard has three-catch game Pollard has three-catch game Updated 12/23/2007
Marcus Pollard, TE SEA
News: Seahawks TE Marcus Pollard caught three passes for 15 yards during a Week 16 win against the Ravens. Pollard had two catches in eight straight games before being shut out Week 15 against the Panthers. Analysis: If there was one thing you could say about Pollard this season is that he was consistent -- consistently bad. The Seahawks just don't use the tight end that much and Pollard remains a poor Fantasy option heading into Week 17 against the Falcons.
Seahawks have some non-factors Seahawks have some non-factors Updated 12/16/2007
Marcus Pollard, TE SEA
News: Notable Seahawks who were active and dressed but didn't record an offensive stat in Week 15 at Carolina include: TE Marcus Pollard, RB Josh Scobey, TE Bennie Joppru, FB David Kirtman and backup QB Seneca Wallace. Analysis: Only Pollard is of any use for Fantasy owners as a low-end No. 2/top-end No. 3 Fantasy TE. He shouldn't start, nor should any of his aforementioned teammates, when the Seahawks host the Ravens in Week 16.
Pollard does two-catch dance again Pollard does two-catch dance again Updated 12/9/2007
Marcus Pollard, TE SEA
News: Seahawks TE Marcus Pollard is becoming a consistent mark for Seattle. How so? After catching two passes for 15 yards Week 14 against the Cardinals, he now has two catches in eight straight games. You want more? Pollard also caught his second touchdown of the season Week 14, a 3-yard reception in the fourth quarter. Analysis: It seems as though Pollard's favorite number is two. It's very ironic to see him with two catches in so many games, but at least Fantasy owners can get a grip on what to expect from the veteran tight end. He is merely a low-end No. 2 Fantasy TE heading into Week 15 against the Panthers.
Two more grabs by Pollard Two more grabs by Pollard Updated 12/2/2007
Marcus Pollard, TE SEA
News: Seattle TE Marcus Pollard caught two passes for 11 yards at Philadelphia in Week 13. Analysis: Pollard doesn't post enough stats on a weekly basis to warrant use in Fantasy play. Keep him off Fantasy rosters. Seattle hosts the Cardinals in Week 14.
Pollard has two catches Pollard has two catches Updated 11/25/2007
Marcus Pollard, TE SEA
News: Seattle TE Marcus Pollard had two catches for 18 yards Sunday at St. Louis. Analysis: Pollard is a low-end TE and should not be used in Week 13 at the Eagles.
TE Pollard catches two passes TE Pollard catches two passes Updated 11/18/2007
Marcus Pollard, TE SEA
News: Seahawks TE Marcus Pollard caught two passes for 33 yards during a Week 11 win against the Bears. He did not have a touchdown and his longest reception went for 20 yards. It was the second straight game Pollard was active after missing two games with a knee injury. Analysis: The Seahawks have gone to a wide-open passing attack, but they use four wide receivers a lot and the tight end is not an integral part of the passing attack. Pollard is nothing more than a No. 2 Fantasy TE for Week 11 against the Rams.
Pollard catches two for 19 in return Pollard catches two for 19 in return Updated 11/13/2007
Marcus Pollard, TE SEA
News: Seahawks TE Marcus Pollard caught two passes for 19 yards in his return to the lineup Week 10 against the 49ers. He had missed two games because of a knee injury. Analysis: Pollard has been too inconsistent this season to be anything more than a borderline No. 1/No. 2 Fantasy TE. Start him Week 11 against the Bears only in the most desperate of circumstances.
TE Pollard active again for Seahawks TE Pollard active again for Seahawks Updated 11/12/2007
Marcus Pollard, TE SEA
News: The Seahawks didn't list Marcus Pollard among their inactives Monday, meaning he'll return from a two-game absence Week 10 against the 49ers. Analysis: Pollard has been too inconsistent this season to be anything more than a borderline No. 1/No. 2 Fantasy TE. Start him Monday only in the most desperate of circumstances.
Pollard misses practice all week Pollard misses practice all week Updated 11/9/2007
Marcus Pollard, TE SEA
News: Seahawks TE Marcus Pollard (knee) is listed as questionable for Week 10 vs. San Francisco. He has not practiced all week. Pollard has missed the last two games while recovering from arthroscopic surgery to repair partially torn cartilage in his right knee. Analysis: Pollard has been too inconsistent this season to be anything more than a borderline No. 1/No. 2 Fantasy TE when healthy. His status for Week 10 doesn't appear to be promising at this juncture. If he can't play, Will Heller will once again start in his place.
Pollard might miss third straight game Pollard might miss third straight game Updated 11/8/2007
Marcus Pollard, TE SEA
News: Seahawks TE Marcus Pollard (knee) did not practice Wednesday or Thursday as the team prepares for Week 10 vs. San Francisco.
Pollard inactive as expected Pollard inactive as expected Updated 11/4/2007
Marcus Pollard, TE SEA
News: As expected, the Seahawks listed TE Marcus Pollard among their inactives for Week 9 at Cleveland. He recently had arthroscopic surgery to repair partially torn cartilage in his right knee. Will Heller, who caught a career-high two touchdown passes against the Rams in Week 7, will again start in his place. Analysis: Pollard hasn't played since Week 6, but he only has 12 catches and one touchdown this season. Even when healthy, he's nothing more than a bye-week replacement in Fantasy.
