News: Kicker John Kasay will retire as a member of the Panthers.
Analysis: Kasay made 461 of 563 field goals over his 21-year career. It's believed he will no longer be a candidate for teams to call up.
News: The Saints released kicker John Kasay on Friday, giving the starting job to Garrett Hartley, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. Kasay filled in for Hartley last season when he was sidelined with an injury and finished with a career-high 147 points.
Analysis: The Saints were expected to turn back to Hartley after showing he is past his injury and converted six of his seven field-goal attempts in the preseason. Kasay, meanwhile, has been reliable throughout his 22-year career and could land with another team. For now, leave him on waivers.
News: In a surprise move, the Saints re-signed veteran kicker John Kasay on Monday to a one-year deal. Kasay replaced injured kicker Garrett Hartley (hip) last preseason, but it was assumed that Hartley would be OK for this season. Apparently the Saints will have a kicking competition in camp.
Analysis: Kasay, 42, went 28 of 34 on field goal attempts last season in New Orleans and set a franchise record with 147 points. Whoever kicks for the Saints will be worth using on a weekly basis for Fantasy.
News: New Orleans K John Kasay converted a field goal and three extra points during the Saints' 36-32 loss to San Francisco in their NFC Divisional Playoff game on Saturday. Kasay booted a 48-yard attempt at the beginning of the fourth quarter -- the longest field goal ever in New Orleans franchise history.
Analysis: Kasay was an admirable replacement for K Garrett Hartley after he went down with an injury and connected on 82.4 percent of his field goals during the regular season (28 of 34). However, with Hartley expected to return from his injury and regain the kicking job, Kasay will likely seek work elsewhere for 2012. For now, Fantasy owners should not consider the 42-year-old a worthy K option in drafts for next season.
News: New Orleans kicker John Kasay converted all of his kicks in Saturday's 45-28 win over Detroit. He connected on a 24-yard field goal at the end of the first half and nailed all six of his extra-point attempts.
Analysis: Kasay recorded 147 points for the Saints during the regular season. Garrett Hartley is expected to kick for the Saints in 2012, which means Kasay will be on the way out.
News: Saints kicker John Kasay kicked one field goal (43 yards) and added six extra points against the Panthers in Week 17.
Analysis: Kasay recorded 147 points for the Saints during the regular season and should continue to do so in the playoffs. Garrett Hartley is expected to kick for the Saints in 2012.
News: Saints kicker John Kasay has recorded 110 straight field goals from under 30 yards after nailing a 29-yarder in the third quarter of the Week 16 Monday night win over the Falcons. Kasay wasn't needed much in the game, however, as the Saints seemed to score touchdowns at will. He kicked plenty of extra points, though, and finished with nine points scored after six PATs.
Analysis: Kasay has been one of the most consistent kicking options around this season for the Saints. New Orleans is also one of the highest scoring teams around and both of those things make Kasay a solid Fantasy kicker almost on a weekly basis. Kasay has been among the Fantasy league leaders all season for kickers and that should only continue Week 17 in the regular-season finale against Carolina. The Saints need to keep winning to gain a first-round bye in the playoffs, so Kasay should keep getting opportunities to score. He racked up 12 points against the Panthers Week 5 as he went 3 for 3 on field goals and hit three extra points. Kasay is a No. 1 Fantasy K for Week 17.
News: New Orleans K John Kasay finished with six extra points during the Saints' 42-20 victory over Minnesota in Week 15. Kasay missed his lone field-goal attempt as he could not convert from 55 yards during the fourth quarter. It was his first miss since Nov. 13 at Atlanta.
Analysis: Kasay has been relied on more for extra points this season as New Orleans continues to rack up touchdowns. He now has 51 total extra points and is among the Fantasy league leaders among kickers. Consider him a high-end Fantasy K for Week 16 against the Falcons.
News: Saints kicker John Kasay had a solid game Sunday at Tennessee in Week 14. Kasay made three field goals on three attempts with a long of 29. He also had one extra point.
Analysis: Kasay continues to be a solid No. 1 Fantasy kicker in all leagues. He should be started in all formats in a favorable matchup in Week 15 at Minnesota.
News: Saints K John Kasay made his lone field-goal attempt in Week 13 against the Lions. Kasey connected from 39 yards out in the first quarter, which gave New Orleans a 3-0 lead. He also made all four of his extra-point attempts to finish with seven points.
Analysis: Kasey hasn't been getting a ton of work lately, as New Orleans has been scoring touchdowns instead of settling for field goals. He is now 23 for 28 in field-goal attempts on the season with a long of 53 yards. Kasey should continue to see a ton of scoring chances kicking for a potent offense, so consider him a No. 1 Fantasy K against the Titans in Week 14.
News: Saints K John Kasay did not attempt a field goal in Week 12 against the Giants but benefited from a high-scoring contest. He converted seven extra points in the 49-24 win. New Orleans lined up a field goal early in the game but ran a fake, which they did not convert.
Analysis: Kasay did not attempt a field goal for the first time this season on Monday night but still had a productive performance thanks to the Saints scoring prowess. He should continue to see a ton of scoring chances kicking for a potent offense, and his ability to make long field goals also helps his value in Fantasy. With the Lions up next on the schedule, continue to roll with Kasay as a solid option in the majority of Fantasy leagues.
News: Saints K John Kasay contributed 14 points in a game for the second time this season Week 10 at Atlanta, kicking four field goals -- a 26-yarder, a 44-yarder, a 48-yarder and a 52-yarder -- and two extra points. He did miss a 40-yard field goal in the third quarter, though.
Analysis: Kasay has now scored 10 points or more in six of 10 games this season, making him arguably the most reliable kicker in Fantasy. The consistency of the Saints offense likely has something to do with it. Since that doesn't figure to change anytime soon, he remains a No. 1 Fantasy option. The Saints have a bye in Week 11 before hosting the Giants in Week 12.
News: Saints kicker John Kasay missed a 42-yard field goal but did hit from 21 and 34 yards out with three extra points.
Analysis: Kasay continues to be a solid contributor to help Fantasy owners' bottom lines. So long as he's active, start him.
News: Saints K John Kasay, who scored no fewer than six points in any of his first seven games, averaging 10.4 during that stretch, scored only three Week 8 at St. Louis -- all on extra points. It was his first game without a field goal this season. He did attempt a 49-yard field goal in the first quarter, but he missed it.
Analysis: Kasay was due for a bad game after the points he put up over the first seven weeks. You just didn't expect him to have it against the Rams. The Saints may have sputtered in Week 8, but they still have one of the most prolific offenses in the NFL, which means Kasay should get back to scoring plenty of points against the Buccaneers in Week 9. Continue to treat him as a No. 1 Fantasy kicker.
News: Saints K John Kasay had a productive night in Week 7 against the Colts. He made both of his field goal attempts and converted all eight of his extra points in the 62-7 win. The 62 points set a new franchise record for New Orleans. Kasay made his field goals from 23 and 47 yards.
Analysis: Kasay continues to benefit from the Saints' high-scoring offense and is proving that he can still be effective at age 40. He is now 16 for 18 in field goals so far this season, and a perfect 25 for 25 in PATs. With the Rams up next on the schedule, continue to roll with Kasay in the majority of Fantasy leagues.
News: Saints K John Kasay made both of his field-goal attempts in Week 6 against the Buccaneers. Kasay connected on a 33 and 24-yarder in the 26-20 defeat and also made both of his extra-point attempts. He finished with eight points.
Analysis: Kasay is now 14 for 16 in field-goal attempts this season and at least two field goals in each of his last three games. He should continue to get plenty of chances playing for the high-powered Saints' offense, so consider him a No. 1 Fantasy K heading into Week 7 against the Colts.
News: Saints K John Kasay booted three field goals in his team's 30-27 win Week 5 against the Panthers. Kasay hit from 23, 37 and 46 yards. He finished with 12 points after hitting three extra points as well.
Analysis: Kasay now has three FGs in three of his last four games. He has missed on just two of 14 attempts through five games. If it wasn't for the injury to Garrett Hartley, then Kasay might still be out of work. But he heads into Week 6 against the Bucs as a must-start Fantasy kicker.
News: Saints K John Kasay had his first misses of the 2011 season in Week 4 against the Jaguars, but they didn't prove costly in a 23-10 win. Both of Kasay's misses were from 50 yards or longer, but he did hit from 21, 38 and 39 yards -- all in the second half. Kasay also hit on two extra points.
Analysis: Kasay is 20-plus years into his career, so he doesn't quite have the range he used to. But his solid start is the reason why New Orleans put Garrett Hartley on IR and gave the kicker's job to Kasay, who remains a viable Fantasy option heading into Week 5 at Carolina. He now has 10-plus points in three of four games.
News: Saints coach Sean Payton said the decision to put K Garrett Hartley (hip) on IR was to create a roster spot and because his replacement, John Kasay, has been "outstanding."
Analysis: Kasay is 6 for 6 on field goals and has hit all 10 of his PATs this season. Now that it is official he will continue to kick for the high-scoring Saints, then Kasay needs to be added in the 27 percent of Fantasy leagues he remains unowned. He remains a viable Fantasy kicker heading into Week 4 against the Jaguars.
News: Saints K John Kasay, who scored at least 10 points in each of his first two games, was limited to six against the Texans in Week 3. He hit a 35-yard field goal and three extra points.
Analysis: The Saints were forced into two two-point conversions late in the game. Otherwise, Kasay would have had a better performance Fantasy-wise. He wasn't one of the top-scoring kickers this week, but as long as he's kicking for the Saints, he'll be one of the more reliable Fantasy options at the position. You'll need to monitor his status on a week-to-week basis, though, since he's considered just a temporary fill-in for Garrett Hartley (hip). The Panthers visit the Bears in Week 4.
News: Saints K John Kasay booted three field goals in his team's Week 2 win against the Bears. Kasay connected from 29, 31 and 53 yards. He also made three extra points.
Analysis: Kasay got the call late in the preseason after Garrett Hartley was injured and he has more than answered the call. He has five field goals and 22 points through two games. Hartley is still out at least a few more weeks, so consider Kasay a viable Fantasy option heading into Week 3 against the Texans.
News: New Orleans K John Kasay connected on four extra-points and two field goals during the Saints' 42-34 loss at Green Bay in their Week 1 matchup on Thursday night. Kasay converted from 30 yards and 38 yards as he filled in for injured K Garrett Hartley (hip).
Analysis: Kasay, who is in his 21st NFL season, turned in a strong start and should continue to rack up points kicking behind one of the league's best offenses. The 41-year-old knocked in 25 of his 29 field-goal attempts last year, and should be considered a solid option in Week 2 against Chicago.
News: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Saints kicker Garrett Hartley will be out at least six weeks with a hip flexor injury. Saints head coach Sean Payton said the reports are not accurate, nor are reports that he'll miss the season. He was hurt in the third preseason game against Oakland. The report says the injury will not require surgery, and Hartley should be ready in six to eight weeks. John Kasay is expected to replace Hartley to open the season, though he struggled on Thursday. Kasay missed a PAT attempt and missed a 39-yard FG attempt earlier in the Titans game. Kasay did hit a 38-yard field goal in the fourth quarter, which was big, says Payton. "I thought it was important for his own confidence," Payton said. "For that moment in time for a veteran kicker, it was a very important kick."
Analysis: If you drafted Hartley already then drop him and pick up someone off the waiver wire. Kasay would be a suitable replacement since he will now kick for the Saints' high-powered offense indoors. Check him out off waivers and roll the dice on him for Week 1.
News: The Saints announced Tuesday that they agreed to terms with K John Kasay.
Analysis: Kasay is being brought in because starting kicker Garrett Hartley sustained a hip injury Sunday and might be in jeopardy for the start of the season. Kasay might come into play as a kicking option off waivers if he replaces Hartley for the start of the season, but he shouldn't be on a Fantasy team until that happens, however.
News: Veteran K John Kasay will likely sign with the Saints, the Charlotte Observer reported Tuesday. Current Saints K Garrett Hartley signed a long-term contract before the lockout but sustained a hip injury during Sunday night's preseason win in Oakland.
Analysis: Kasay might come into play as a kicking option off waivers if he replaces Hartley for the start of the season. He shouldn't be on a Fantasy team until that happens, however.
News: The Panthers have agreed to a four-year contract with kicker Olindo Mare. The deal, according to ESPN, is reportedly worth $12 million over four years with $4 million guaranteed. Mare is expected to replace John Kasay, who has been released according to team officials.
Analysis: Kasay has spent his entire career with the Panthers and has been there since the team started in 1995. He might retire, or he could find a new team to kick for. Either way, don't reach for him on Draft Day.
News: Panthers K John Kasay hit one field goal and one extra point in Week 17 against the Falcons. Kasay converted a 23-yard field goal in the third quarter for the Panthers' first points of the game. He made his last seven field goals of the season.
Analysis: For as bad as the Panthers' offense was in 2010, Kasay still hit 25 of 29 field goals. He just came up real short on PATs, as he managed just 17. We aren't sure the Panthers offense is going to be that much more improved heading into 2011, so Kasay will have marginal Fantasy appeal on Draft Day.
News: Carolina kicker John Kasay accounted for the Panthers' only points in their 27-3 loss at Pittsburgh in Week 16 on Thursday night. Kasay booted a 27-yard field goal midway through the fourth quarter to prevent Carolina from being shut out for the first time this season.
Analysis: Kasay has been one of the few bright spots for the woeful Panthers offense this season as Thursday's game marked the third week he has been the only Carolina player with points in a game -- all losses. With such limited opportunities, Kasay should be left on waivers for Week 17 against Atlanta.
News: Panthers K John Kasay kicked field goals of 28, 29, 24 and 43 yards and an extra point in a Week 15 win over the Cardinals.
Analysis: Kasay has often been the majority of the offense for the Panthers this season with five double-digit point hauls under his belt. Unfortunately, Kasay has also put together a number of awful weeks as well, which has to be expected considering who he plays for. You're better off continuing to ignore Kasay in Week 16 at Pittsburgh, even after this great outing.
News: Panthers K John Kasay, who scored only two points last week, was good for only four Week 14 against the Falcons. He kicked a 36-yard field goal and an extra point.
Analysis: Kasay had multiple field goals in three straight games before this recent two-game stretch, but he was the beneficiary of some good luck then. The little bit of scoring the Panthers did happened to come on field goals. The Panthers have the worst offense in the NFL, making Kasay far too inconsistent for Fantasy purposes. You can leave him on waivers.
News: Carolina kicker John Kasay was rarely used in Week 13, kicking two extra-points in the Panthers' 31-14 loss at Seattle on Sunday. It was the fourth game of the season Kasay did not attempt a field goal.
Analysis: It wasn't Kasay's fault he didn't see much work Sunday but Carolina's ineffectiveness moving the football in the second half. With the Panthers' offense struggling, Kasay has attempted only 22 field goals this season, connecting on 18. He is a marginal Fantasy option, especially against Atlanta in Week 14, so keep him on waiver wires.
News: Panthers K John Kasay made three field goals in Week 12, but his 42-yard miss with no time left sealed a 24-23 loss at Cleveland. A conversion would have given Carolina its second win of the year, but his final kick of the day hit the left upright. He also missed a 46-yard attempt that went wide right. His completions were from 43, 42 and 43 yards, and he also made both of his extra-point attempts.
Analysis: Kasay's misses had to sting for Panthers fans, but he still turned in a good afternoon for Fantasy owners. Through no fault of his own, Kasay should be avoided in most Fantasy leagues, as the Panthers have the weakest offense in the league.
News: Panthers K John Kasay made both of his field goal attempts -- from 45 and 40 yards -- in a 37-13 loss to Baltimore in Week 11. He also converted his one extra-point attempt on the afternoon. Kasay is now 15 for 17 in field goal attempts on the season.
Analysis: Kasay has been reasonably accurate this year, but through no fault of his own, he doesn't score enough to be relevant in most Fantasy leagues. As long as the Panthers' offense struggles to score, Kasay is not worth owning in the vast majority of leagues.
News: Panthers kicker John Kasay converted three field goals in Week 10 at Tampa Bay, his third double-digit performance of the season. He added an extra point to give him 10 points in the game after totaling just seven over his two previous games .
Analysis: Kasay has struggled to put up points as the result of playing for a Panthers offense that has struggled to put up points all year. He is going to continue to find it hard to put up points in the coming weeks, but especially in Week 11 against a tough Ravens defense.
News: Panthers K John Kasay settled for just three points in Week 9 against the Saints. The afternoon started with some promise as Kasay opened the scoring with a 20-yard field goal on Carolina's opening drive. He then missed a 40-yard field goal on Carolina's third drive and it all spiraled downhill after that for the Panthers. They used three QBs on the afternoon and had trouble moving the chains in a 34-3 loss.
Analysis: Kasay has had 10 or more points in two games this season. However, he has had four or less in five games. The Panthers have the worst offense in the NFL, so that makes Kasay a very bad Fantasy option. The Panthers play the Bucs in Week 10.
News: Panthers K John Kasay kicked a 44-yard field goal and two extra points in a Week 8 loss to the Rams.
Analysis: Kasay had a nice outing in Week 7 when Carolina's offense got things going a bit, but things were back to normal again on Sunday and Kasay's numbers struggled as a result. Continue to ignore Kasay in everything but deep two-kicker leagues, if they exist.
News:John Kasay kicked a 37-yard field goal with 39 seconds remaining to give the Panthers a 23-20 win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 7. The game winner capped a three-FG day for Kasay. He opened the scoring for Carolina with a 47-yarder in the first quarter. The Panthers took a 13-10 third-quarter lead on Kasay's 55-yard field goal, his 40th of more than 50 yards in his career. Kasay hit both of his PATs for an 11-point day.
Analysis: Kasay had his first game of 10 or more points since Week 1 in Week 7 against the 49ers. It's no surprise either seeing how the Panthers had their finest offensive performance of the season with QB Matt Moore back at the helm. Kasay clearly showed in Week 7 that he still has the leg to kick long field goals, so as long as he gets ample scoring chances, he could turn into a viable Fantasy option in the second half of the season. The Panthers play the Rams in Week 8.
News: Panthers K John Kasay was credited for all of Carolina's points in Week 5 against the Bears. He hit a pair of field goals on Sunday -- 24-yard and 53-yard -- in Carolina's 23-6 loss.
Analysis: Carolina's offense seems to get worse and worse, so it's unlikely Kasay will get many PATs this year. He'll be the most consistent source of points if drives stall, although he has just five field goals through five weeks. The Panthers have a bye in Week 6 and then face the 49ers in Week 7. Kasay still has a good leg, but won't be worth owning in any Fantasy league right now.
News: Carolina K John Kasay was not called upon to attempt a field goal in the 16-14 Week 4 loss in New Orleans. Kasay managed two PATs and finished with just two points on the afternoon.
Analysis: The Carolina offense has been absolutely horrendous this season and Kasay has suffered mightily because of it. After going 3 for 3 on field goals Week 1 in New York and finishing with 12 points, Kasay has not even attempted a field goal since with just four extra points for a total of four points in three games. The Panthers are taking on the Bears Week 5 and Kasay is not a recommended Fantasy option.
News: Panthers K John Kasay was a victim of rookie QB Jimmy Clausen making his first career start in Week 3 against the Bengals. Clausen led just one scoring drive against the Bengals, a touchdown in the third quarter. Kasay was handed no field goal attempts and finished with just the one extra point.
Analysis: After putting up 10 points in Week 1, Kasay has just two points in his last two games and no field goal attempts. The Panthers are proving to be one of the worst teams in the NFL, and now that they have a rookie QB under center, we aren't sure how much they will improve. Kasay is not a good Fantasy option heading into Week 4. The Panthers play the Saints.
News: Carolina kicker John Kasay managed just one point in the Week 2 loss to the Buccaneers. Kasay did not attempt a field goal in the 20-7 defeat. He kicked one extra point in the contest after a Steve Smith touchdown in the second quarter.
Analysis: Kasay was night-and-day after his Week 1 performance. He went 3 for 3 on field goals in that one and finished with 12 points. After a great start, 13 points after two games is not nearly as impressive. The Panthers should do much better in Week 3 against the Bengals. Kasay is an efficient kicker but he's low-end among those viable for use in Fantasy play heading into Week 3.
News: Panthers K John Kasay converted three field goals, including a 52-yarder, in Week 1 at the Giants. He added an extra point to finish with 10 points in a 31-18 loss.
Analysis: Kasay was only active in two percent of CBSSports.com leagues, but this type of output could have been useful in any format. The Carolina offense sputtered out in field goal territory often in the first half, leading to their first nine points being scored via Kasay. The Panthers would rarely venture into New York territory in the second half, but Kasay looks like a viable pickup off the waiver wire in deeper leagues if you aren't satisfied with your kicking situation. The veteran has been a very efficient kicker throughout his career and his matchup against Tampa Bay screams of a possible field-goal fest in Week 2.
News: Panthers K John Kasay kicked field goals of 43, 27 and 41 yards but missed from 25 yards in Saturday's preseason win over Tennessee.
Analysis: Kasay is a decent kicker, but Carolina's offense isn't one of the better units in the league, so his opportunities might be limited this season. He should only be drafted in very deep Fantasy formats, if at all.
News: Carolina K John Kasay had a nice season-finale win over the Saints Week 17. Kasay went 3 for 3 on field goals with a long of 41 yards and added 2 of 2 on PATs for a total of 11 points in the win.
Analysis: Kasay finished the season with one of his best efforts of the entire year. The Panthers improved as the season went on and as such, so did Kasay. He should enter next season as a decent Fantasy kicker, but someone worth taking off waivers and not worth wasting a pick on during Draft Day.
News: Panthers kicker John Kasay converted two field goals and five extra points in Week 16 at the N.Y. Giants. He finished with 11 points. It was just his third double-digit scoring performance of the game.
Analysis: Kasay was the beneficiary if a rare blowout win in Week 16. He has not gotten as many kick attempts in a game all season and is not a player we recommend going with in Week 17 against the Saints despite this performance.
News: Panthers kicker John Kasay did not attempt a field goal Sunday and had an extra point blocked against the Vikings. He was 2 of 3 on extra points and finished with two points.
Analysis: Kasay is a low-end Fantasy kicker and should not be used in Week 16 at the Giants.
News: Panthers K John Kasay made a 36-yard field goal and missed from 53 yards in a Week 14 loss at New England. He also booted one extra point.
Analysis: There are plenty of better kicking options out there, so continue to ignore Kasay in the majority of Fantasy leagues for Week 15 vs. Minnesota.
News: Carolina K John Kasay had one of his better weeks in Week 13 in the win over the Bucs. He finished with 10 points in the game as he went 3 for 3 on field goals and connected from 23 yards twice and had a long of 40 in the win. He was also 1 of 1 on PATs to finish with 10 points.
Analysis: Kasay remains a low-end Fantasy option in all leagues. Consider him a No. 2 Fantasy kicker in Week 14 at New England.
News: Panthers kicker John Kasay had two field goals Sunday at the Jets. His long was 40. Kasay did not attempt an extra point.
Analysis: Kasay remains a low-end Fantasy option in all leagues. Consider him a No. 2 Fantasy kicker in Week 13 against Tampa Bay.
News: Carolina PK John Kasay hit all three of the field goals he attempted on Thursday in a Week 11 loss to the Dolphins. Kasays longest field goal on the day was good from 48 yards out. He did not attempt an extra point as the Panthers went for two after the teams lone touchdown in the game.
Analysis: The Panthers offense has improved over the past few weeks and luckily for Kasays Fantasy owners, the team sputtered out in the red zone on Thursday a few times. In Week 12, the Panthers take on a tough Jets defense on the road. Kasay is not a recommended option for that game.
News: Carolina K John Kasay missed the only field goal he attempted in the Week 10 win over the Falcons on Sunday. He was 4 for 4 on PATs for a total of four points in the win.
Analysis: Kasay had 18 points in his previous two games combined but that was his best two-week production of the season and he clearly didn't keep it up on Sunday of Week 10. The Panthers offense has improved in recent weeks now that they've begun to lean more on DeAngelo Williams, so Kasay has the potential to become a worthwhile Fantasy option if the trend continues. Still, he's too risky to use Week 11 against the Dolphins on Thursday.
News: Carolina K John Kasay has been slowed by a left groin injury but it will not keep him from kicking against Atlanta on Sunday in Week 10.
Analysis: The Panthers offense has improved in recent weeks now that they've begun to lean more on DeAngelo Williams, so Kasay has the potential to become a worthwhile Fantasy option if the trend continues. Still, he's too risky to use Week 10 against the Falcons.
News: Carolina PK John Kasay was back on the injury report all week with a left groin injury. He was able to practice in full both days however and is expected to be active Week 10 against the Falcons.
Analysis: The Panthers offense has improved in recent weeks now that they've begun to lean more on DeAngelo Williams, so Kasay has the potential to become a worthwhile Fantasy option if the trend continues. Still, he's too risky to use Week 10 against the Falcons. The injury should not keep him out however.
News: Panthers K John Kasay, who scored a season-high 10 points last week, equaled his next-highest total with eight points Week 9 at New Orleans. He hit two field goals, including a long of 32 yards, and two extra points. The team listed him as questionable coming into the game because of a pulled left groin.
Analysis: The Panthers offense has improved in recent weeks now that they've begun to lean more on DeAngelo Williams, so Kasay has the potential to become a worthwhile Fantasy option if the trend continues. Still, he's too risky to use Week 10 against the Falcons.
News: Panthers K John Kasay, limited in practice this week by a pulled left groin, is active for Week 9 at New Orleans. The team listed him as questionable coming into the game.
Analysis: The struggles of QB Jake Delhomme have limited the Panthers offense, but the running game exploded in Week 8, allowing Kasay to score 10 points against the Cardinals. Still, he's too spotty to use as more than a No. 2 Fantasy K.
News: Panthers PK John Kasay was held out of practice on Thursday and Friday due to a left groin pull. He is considered questionable for the team's Week 9 game at New Orleans.
Analysis: The struggles of QB Jake Delhomme have limited the Panthers offense, but the running game exploded in Week 8, allowing Kasay to score 10 points against the Cardinals. However, he is considered just a No. 2 Fantasy option for Week 9 if he is able to play. Monitor his status the rest of the week before making a decision on him.
News: Panthers K John Kasay, who averaged 3.7 points over his first six games, scored a season-high 10 at Arizona in Week 8. He kicked two field goals, including a long of 35 yards, and four extra points.
Analysis: The struggles of QB Jake Delhomme have limited the Panthers offense, but the running game exploded in Week 8, allowing Kasay to score so many points. He's normally no more than a No. 2 Fantasy K, so treat him as such Week 9 at New Orleans.
News: Panthers K John Kasay let his team down by missing two big field goals in a tight game Week 7 against the Bills -- a 39-yarder and a 43-yarder. He ended up with just one extra point in the contest.
Analysis: The Panthers have had trouble establishing a passing game, meaning they haven't moved the ball effectively. Accordingly, you can't trust Kasay for consistent Fantasy production. He remains just a low-end option for Week 8 at Arizona.
News: Carolina K John Kasay recorded 4 points in a win over Tampa Bay on Sunday of Week 6. Kasay missed the only field goal he attempted and went 4 for 4 on PATs.
Analysis: Kasay has 21 points in five games for the Panthers. He is 4 of 5 on field goals and a perfect 9 for 9 on PATs. Still, the Panthers don't score enough for him to be considered a viable Fantasy option Week 7 against Buffalo.
News: Carolina K John Kasay finished Sunday's win over the Redskins with just 4 points. He connected on a 43-yard field goal in the 4th quarter but the Panthers opted to go for two on their second touchdown. He went 1 for 1 on PATs.
Analysis: Kasay is perfect on the season on field goals but is just 4 for 4 as the Panthers have had a lot of trouble moving the ball. That didn't really change on Sunday, despite their first win, and we don't expect him to put up double-digit points Week 6 at Tampa Bay, either. Kasay is just a low-end Fantasy option and bye-week replacement.

News:John Kasay stood in front of reporters four years ago to announce what he thought was his last contract extension with the Carolina Panthers. On Wednesday, two days after his 39th birthday and in the midst of a streak of 21 consecutive made field goals, the last original Panther decided he was far from finished, signing another four-year extension that keeps him entrenched as Carolina's place-kicker through the 2012 season. With Kasay still one of the NFL's top kickers, Carolina was happy to keep him - even if he'll be 43 at the end of the deal. Kasay negotiated the contract on his own and did not release financial figures. "I figured this would be a retirement speech a few years ago. But I've been very blessed and very thankful," Kasay said. "To have the opportunity to still do the very same thing that I was doing when I was 12 years old, I wouldn't have guessed it in a million years."
