Colts PK Adam Vinatieri goes short and long in Sunday win

(10/19/2014) Colts placekicker Adam Vinatieri tallied the first and last scores for his team in a wipeout win Sunday of Cincinnati.

Vinatieri opened the scoring with a 23-yard feld goal with just 33 seconds remaining in the first quarter. He added a 50-yard boot with 1:55 left in the game to place the cherry on top of the rout. He knocked three extra points through the uprights in-between.

(10/10/2014) Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri connected on all two of his field goal in a Week 6 victory over the Texans on Thursday night.

Vinatieri converted a 27-yard field goal on the opening drive and knocked down a 34-yard kick in the second quarter. He went 2 for 2 with three extra points, registering nine points in a 33-28 victory. He has converted all 12 of his field goal attempts this season.

(10/5/2014) Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri chipped in with eight points in a 20-13 Week 5 victory over the Ravens at home on Sunday.

He knocked down a 38-yard kick in the first quarter and a 34-yard shot in the second. He added a pair of extra points in the win. He has converted all of his first eight field goal attempts this season.

(9/28/2014) Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri contributed 11 points during a 41-17 win Week 4 vs. Tennessee. Vinatieri made field goals of 30 and 31 yards, while converting five extra-point attempts.

Vinatieri has totaled at least nine points in his last three games. He is averaging close to 10 points per game this season.

The Colts are back in action Week 5 vs. Baltimore.

Vinatieri got plenty of work during the contest. He nailed field goals from 25, 43 and 48 yards. He also hit all five of his extra point attempts. Vinatieri will look to keep it up Week 4 against the Titans.

Vinatieri was expected to become an unrestricted free agent. He is coming off one of his best seasons where he made 35 of 40 field goals, including four from 50-plus yards.

(2/26/2014) While reports circulated the Colts might want to franchise kicker Adam Vinatieri, it's not feasible, according to former agent Joel Corry. Vinatieri was twice tagged with the Patriots and thus would be paid like a quarterback if he got tagged again.

Vinatieri, 41, is coming off one of his best seasons and the Colts want to keep him. He made 35 of 40 field goals, including four from 50-plus yards.

The report says Vinatieri is hoping to kick "two or three more years." Vinatieri was 35 of 40 on field goals in 2013 and made all 34 extra points.

(1/12/2014) Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri turned in a decent performance against his former team, the Patriots, in a 43-22 loss in the AFC Divisional Playoff game on Saturday.

Vinatieri drilled a 36-yard shot in the second quarter and a 21-yard kick in the third quarter. He finished the game 2 for 2 in field goal attempts, also adding two extra points.

Vinatieri finished the regular season 35 of 40 (87.5 percent) in field goal attempts, racking up 139 points in his eight season with Indianapolis.

(1/4/2014) The Colts offense was humming Saturday against the Chiefs in a Wild Card playoff game, but kicker Adam Vinatieri didn't get many chances to get in on the fun. Though he kicked four points after touchdowns, Vinatieri finished the game with just nine points, as he made his lone field-goal attempt from 37 yards out in the 45-44 win. 

Saturday's game was an outlier for Vinatieri who had plenty of chances in the regular season, finishing 35 of 40 on field-goal attempts. The Colts' next game in the playoffs is set for next week against either the Broncos or Patriots.

Vinatieri has made at least three field goals in three of his last four games and in seven games this season. He'll aim for another trifecta in Week 17 vs. Jacksonville.

(12/15/2013) After following up his five field goals Week 13 against Tennessee with none Week 14 at Cincinnati, missing his only attempt, Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri bounced back with three field goals -- a 37-yarder, a 43-yarder and a 40-yarder -- Week 15 against Houston. He also had two extra points.

It was his 10th game this season with multiple field goals, though just his third in the six. The Colts visit Kansas City in Week 16.

(12/1/2013) Don't be surprised if Colts placekicker Adam Vinatieri wins AFC Special Teams Player of the Week honors in Week 13. He was pretty much the offense for his team with five field goals in five attempts.

Vinatieri made four in the first half alone and none were chip shots. He drilled them from 47 and 48 in the first quarter and 45 and 37 in the second quarter before putting the cherry on top with a 49-yarder in the third quarter.

(11/24/2013) Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri didn't get many chances Week 12 against the Cardinals. 

Vinatieri kicked one field goal against Arizona. He hit a 27 yard field goal in the first quarter. The Cardinals then went on to score 27 unanswered points, meaning the Colts were done trying to kick field goals. Indianapolis eventually scored a touchdown, but opted to go for two. 

Vinatieri will look to bounce back Week 13 against the Titans.

(11/15/2013) One week after being held scoreless for the first time since 1996, Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri was back at it in a 30-27 Week 11 win over the Titans Thursday.

Vinatieri connected on three field goals without missing, as he was good from 48, 30 and 50 yards. He added three successful  extra-point tries, to finish with 12 points in the win.

Vinatieri is 20 for 23 on the season on field-goal tries.

(11/10/2013) Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri posted a goose egg for the first time this season during a 38-8 loss Week 10 vs. St. Louis. Vinatieri attempted no field goals or extra points, as Indianapolis attempted a two-point conversion after scoring its only touchdown.

The only other time Vinatieri failed to record at least one point in a game came back during his rookie season in 1996 when he kicked for the Patriots. The Colts are back in action Week 11 at Tennessee.

(10/15/2013) Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri entered Week 6 having missed both his tries from 50 or more yards. He nailed both long attempts against the Chargers, converting from 50 and 51 yards to become the third Colts' kicker with two 50-yard field goals in the same game.

Mike Vanderjagt accomplished the feat in 2002 and Dean Biasucci did it in 1988.

Vinatieri, who also hit a 30-yarder, improved to 12 of 14 on field goals. He did not get to try a PAT. Vinatieri plays the Broncos in Week 7.

(9/29/2013) Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri contributed multiple field goals for the third straight game Week 4 at Jacksonville, kicking a 22-yarder early in the second quarter, a 46-yarder just before the half and a 28-yarder late in the fourth. He also had four extra points.

His 13 points were the most he's had in a game since Dec. 22, 2011.
