News: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports former Saints, Bucs and Falcons RB Aaron Stecker has retired. "I played for 10 years, 11 if you count my year on the practice squad, and I had a chance to play on some good teams. Tampa won the Super Bowl while I was there, and New Orleans went from Katrina to the NFC championship game, " said Stecker, who quietly turned in his retirement papers in late February. "I had a real good career. ... I lasted longer than a lot of running backs who got drafted before me."
Analysis: Stecker finished his career with 1,526 rushing yards, 1,175 receiving yards, 3,934 kickoff return yards and 12 total touchdowns. He had a solid career, but his Fantasy days are over. Ignore him in all leagues on Draft Day.
News: Atlanta RB Aaron Stecker didn't see action until very late in the Week 16 win over Buffalo. Stecker finished the game with three carries for 9 yards.
Analysis: Stecker doesnt normally contribute for the Falcons and doesnt need to be on Fantasy rosters for Week 17 at Tampa Bay.
News: Falcons WR Eric Weems, RB Aaron Stecker, TE Joe Zelenka, TE Justin Peelle and QB Chris Redman all dressed for a Week 15 win over the Jets but failed to record an offensive stat.
Analysis: None of these players have any real Fantasy value heading into Week 16 vs. Buffalo. Continue to ignore them.
News:John Parker Wilson, Aaron Stecker, Joe Zelenka and Keith Zinger all failed to record a stat on Sunday in a Week 14 loss to the Saints.
Analysis: None of these players have any Fantasy value and can continue to be ignored in all Fantasy formats for Week 15 against Arizona.
News: The Falcons had several players active who did not record an offensive stat Sunday against the Eagles, including RB Aaron Stecker, WR Troy Bergeron, TE Justin Peelle, TE Joe Zelenka, TE Keith Zinger and QB John Parker Wilson.
Analysis: None of these players are worth using in any Fantasy league. Ignore them in all formats in Week 14 against the Saints.
News: Atlanta RB Aaron Stecker and WR Marty Booker failed to stat in the Week 12 win over Tampa Bay. Both were active.
Analysis: Stecker is clearly not going to be a factor in Fantasy this season. Michael Turner was injured in this game and Jason Snelling didn't even get any extra touches. Stecker is way out of the loop. Leave he and Booker on waivers in all leagues for Week 13 against the Eagles.
News: Falcons RB Jason Snelling got 25 carries in Week 11 at the N.Y. Giants. He scored two touchdowns and gained 76 yards. He also caught three passes for 13 yards. He was the only Falcons RB to get any carries in the game with Aaron Stecker not getting any touches.
Analysis: Snelling got the start in place of Michael Turner and Jerious Norwood, who were both out with injuries. He wasn't particularly explosive, with just a 3.0 yard-per-carry average. However, he was able to put together a solid stat line and would be very useful if the Falcons call on him again if Turner and Norwood remain sidelined for Week 12 vs. Tampa Bay. Stecker is clearly not going to be a factor in Fantasy this season.

News: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the Falcons re-signed RB Aaron Stecker, who was released by the team on Saturday. Stecker has 383 carries for 1,517 yards and eight touchdowns in 10 NFL season. He appeared in two games with the Falcons this year and has two carries for 6 yards and five catches for 34 yards.
Analysis: Stecker is insurance in case Michael Turner (ankle) is out for an extended period of time. Stecker will play behind Jason Snelling and Jerious Norwood and has minimal Fantasy value heading into Week 11 at the Giants.
News: Atlanta RB Aaron Stecker rushed twice for 6 yards in the Week 9 win against Washington. Stecker added three catches for 22 yards.
Analysis: Stecker was playing in his second game with the Falcons as Jerious Norwood and Jason Snelling continue to miss time due to injury. Stecker has no Fantasy value at this time for Week 10 at Carolina.
News: RB Aaron Stecker, playing in his first game for the Falcons with Jerious Norwood (hip) and Jason Snelling (hamstring) inactive, had two catches for 12 yards Week 8 at New Orleans.
Analysis: Stecker will probably rank low on the depth chart when Norwood and Snelling return and won't steal many touches from Michael Turner even in his current role. Leave him on waivers for Week 9 against the Redskins.
News: The Atlanta Falcons signed free agent running back Aaron Stecker, placed safety William Moore on injured reserve, placed cornerback Glenn Sharpe on practice squad-injured and signed safety Eric Brock to the practice squad.
Analysis: The only notable Fantasy name in the bunch is Stecker, who is with the Falcons to help them prep for the Saints as much as provide depth at running back. No one listed above should be considered for Fantasy use.
News: Tailback Aaron Stecker will miss the rest of this season with a hamstring injury. Stecker became the 13th member of the Saints' injured reserve list Tuesday. Stecker had been battling his injury since the first week of the season. He aggravated it on a 12-yard catch early in the first quarter Sunday at Kansas City and left the game.
Analysis: Stecker's injury comes at a tough time for the Saints since Reggie Bush is out and Deuce McAllister is facing a possible suspension soon. Obviously, if he's out for the year, then Fantasy owners shouldn't have him on their rosters. Speculating with Pierre Thomas at this point wouldn't be a bad idea.
News: Saints RB Aaron Stecker had one catch for 12 yards Sunday at Kansas City. He did not have a carry.
Analysis: Stecker is a low-end Fantasy RB and should not be used in Week 12 against Green Bay, especially since Reggie Bush (knee) is expected to return.
News: Saints RB Aaron Stecker (hamstring) is listed as probable for Week 11 at Kansas City. He went through full practice reps all week. Stecker might see a few carries with Reggie Bush (knee) sidelined, but is still expected to backup Deuce McAllister.
Analysis: Stecker has just eight carries in his last four games and hasn't been playing much of an offensive role with Bush sidelined. Not much is expected to change Week 11, so continue to keep Stecker reserved in most Fantasy formats.
News: New Orleans RB Aaron Stecker (hamstring) was able to practice in full on Wednesday and is expected to play in Week 11 at Kansas City. Stecker rushed for 21 yards on three carries against the Falcons in Week 10.
Analysis: Pierre Thomas actually played a bigger part in the passing game, catching five passes. Stecker looks like the least valuable of the Saints' backup running backs, behind Deuce McAllister and Thomas, and Reggie Bush figures to return Week 11 at Kansas City anyway. Consider dropping Stecker this week if you find a waiver claim you like more.
News: Saints RB Aaron Stecker, expected to fill the injured Reggie Bush's void in the passing game, didn't make a single catch Week 10 at Atlanta. He ran only three times for 21 yards.
Analysis: Pierre Thomas actually played a bigger part in the passing game, catching five passes. Stecker looks like the least valuable of the Saints' backup running backs, behind Deuce McAllister and Thomas, and Bush figures to return Week 11 at Kansas City anyway. Consider dropping Stecker this week if you find a waiver claim you like more.
News: As expected, Saints RB Aaron Stecker mostly filled in for injured starter Reggie Bush in the passing game Week 8 against the Chargers in England. He caught five passes for 27 yards. He ran only twice for nine yards.
Analysis: Deuce McAllister handled the vast majority of the carries for the Saints, but he faces a potential suspension for violating the league's steroid policy. If he ends up having to serve it before Bush returns, Stecker might end up playing even more of a role. Then again, he also has to worry about Pierre Thomas, who had three carries himself Sunday. For the short term, McAllister has the most Fantasy appeal, followed by Stecker and Thomas. The Saints have a bye in Week 9, so wait until McAllister's situation becomes more clear before deciding who to start Week 10 at Atlanta.
News: With Saints RB Reggie Bush expected to miss three to four weeks after undergoing arthroscopic surgery to repair the torn medial meniscus cartilage in his left knee, Deuce McAllister, Aaron Stecker and Pierre Thomas will be asked to shoulder the load in the meantime. "We'll have to make some adjustments offensively, and some other guys are going to have to step up and play along with Deuce (McAllister), be it Aaron Stecker or Pierre Thomas," coach Sean Payton said. McAllister will become the Saints' primary rusher after playing a complementary role to Bush throughout this season. But Thomas and Stecker both likely will rotate into the mix as the Saints try to keep their versatile offense from becoming too predictable. "As you recall, we were without Reggie last year for the last four games of the season," Saints QB Drew Brees said Monday. "We felt like at that time it was Pierre and Stecker doing a great job. I think that Deuce is running the ball very well right now. Whoever we put back there I have a lot of faith in. Hopefully, we won't skip a beat."
Analysis: Add Stecker first in Fantasy leagues since he's the better receiver of the two, but Thomas will get carries also. Consider Stecker a No. 3 Fantasy option against the Chargers in Week 8 and Thomas a No. 4 Fantasy RB.
News: With Saints RB Reggie Bush leaving in the second quarter with a knee injury, RB Aaron Stecker carried the ball a season-high two times for 10 yards Week 7 at Carolina. He also caught a pass for five.
Analysis: Stecker entered the game with only three touches on offense, with Deuce McAllister and Pierre Thomas each getting more, but since Stecker has the best receiving ability of the bunch, he might surprise with Bush sidelined. Bush likely needs surgery to repair a torn meniscus, so consider Stecker a Fantasy sleeper for at least the team's next two games. He probably doesn't deserve to start Week 8, though, against the Chargers in London.
News: Saints RB Aaron Stecker only touched the ball twice in New Orlean's domination of the Raiders in Week 6. Stecker rushed once for three yards and caught one pass for eight yards. The pass from Drew Brees was good for a touchdown, however, in the 3rd quarter.
Analysis: Stecker didn't get his first offensive touch until Week 5. This is his first touchdown of the season. Don't expect his numbers to go up from here. The Saints have Reggie Bush and now a healthy Deuce McAllister and Stecker doesn't figure to be viable in Fantasy anytime soon. Don't use him Week 7 against the Panthers.
News: Saints RB Aaron Stecker had one catch for no gain during a Week 5 loss to the Vikings. He did not get any rushing attempts.
Analysis: Stecker still doesn't have a carry this season and had his first touch Week 5. He does most of his work on special teams, and until that changes, he has no Fantasy value heading into Week 6 against the Raiders.
News: The Saints inactives for Week 4 is DB Randall Gay (hamstring), RB Aaron Stecker, DB Aaron Glenn, FB Mike Karney and DE Josh Savage.
Analysis: Keep all of these players reserved for Week 4. When healthy, they have minimal Fantasy value.
News: New Orleans listed the following players as being inactive for Week 3's game in Denver: WR Marques Colston, WR Terrance Copper, RB Aaron Stecker, DB Aaron Glenn, LB Scott Fujita, TE Mark Campbell and DL Antwan Lake.
Analysis: Colston is expected to miss a few more weeks after undergoing thumb surgery. He is a must-start Fantasy WR when healthy, but keep him reserved until further notice. Stecker's absence leaves the running duties on Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush for the Saints. The rest of these players have little to no Fantasy value.
News: New Orleans lists the following players as inactive for Week 2 at Washington: CB Mike McKenzie, WR Marques Colston, CB Randall Gay, LB Scott Fujita, DB Roman Harper, DL Antwan Lake and RB Aaron Stecker.
Analysis: We already knew Colston would be out, as he's expected to miss the next 4 to 6 weeks. Stecker's absence leaves the running duties on Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush for the Saints. The rest of these players are not recommended in Fantasy on a weekly basis and can be safely ignored vs. the Redskins.
News: The Saints will play a second straight week without reserve running Aaron Stecker (hamstring). Pierre Thomas is expected to see most of the running reps along with Reggie Bush.
Analysis: Stecker isn't worth using in Fantasy play for now whether he's healthy or not. Keep him out of lineups this week. He's got some depth chart climbing to do.
News:The Sports Xchange notes that RB Aaron Stecker, who missed last week's game with a hamstring injury, was limited in practice Thursday after participating fully on Wednesday.
Analysis: Stecker isn't worth using in Fantasy play for now whether he's healthy or not. Keep him out of lineups this week. He's got some depth chart climbing to do.
News: The Saints have announced their inactives for their Week 1 game vs. the Buccaneers. The following players will not take part in the contest: RB Aaron Stecker, DL Hollis Thomas, WR Robert Meachem, DB Mike McKenzie, LB Mark Simoneau, LB Troy Evans and DB Usama Young.
Analysis: Stecker (hamstring) and Meachem are the only two players in this list with Fantasy value, but they were clearly a couple of guys who had a good chance of missing out in Week 1. Meachem is way down the depth chart, but is a promising rookie that could still make an impact this season. Stecker will probably be the No. 3 RB ahead of Pierre Thomas when healthy, so hold on to him in deeper leagues.
News: Saints RB Aaron Stecker is listed as questionable for Week 1 vs. Tampa Bay with a hamstring injury. He did not practice on Thursday or Friday and is officially listed as questionable.
Analysis: Stecker isn't worth using in Fantasy play for now whether he's healthy or not. Keep him out of lineups this week.
News: Trying to earn the backup RB job over Deuce Mcallister, Saints RB Aaron Stecker played well Thursday against the Cardinals. Stecker rushed for 39 yards on seven carries and scored a touchdown -- a one-yard run.
Analysis: Fantasy owners know that McAllister is an injury risk, and this is just more fuel for the fire. Stecker's Fantasy value definitely improves after this showing and he should be on your radar as a late-round option.
News: Saints RB Deuce McAllister has missed a practice, and coach Sean Payton says he is scheduled to have an MRI on his left knee. McAllister had surgery to repair a torn anterior cruciate ligament in that knee last season. He tore the ACL in his right knee in 2006. Payton said it swelled up after Friday's practice and trainers had to drain fluid from it. McAllister sat out Saturday morning's practice. Payton said doctors don't know if anything is wrong with the ligament but because of last year's surgery they want to be sure. For now, Pierre Thomas and Aaron Stecker are expected to work in McAllister's place as the traditional running back in the Saints offense (Reggie Bush is more of a utility running back who lines up in different places). McAllister has worked hard this offseason to come back from his latest knee bang-up, even showing up to camp under his playing weight.
Analysis: Fantasy owners know that McAllister is an injury risk, and this is just more fuel for the fire. It's the main reason why he has slipped into the middle rounds of drafts. We hate to say it because McAllister is an upstanding person in the NFL, but he cannot be counted on as anything more than a quality reserve Fantasy rusher at this point because of his injury history. Don't rush out to draft him with anything more than a middle-round choice. Additionally, Stecker and Thomas could be in play soon as relevant Fantasy RBs, so add them to rank lists as late-round picks.
News: Running back Aaron Stecker, who rushed for a career-high 448 yards last season, agreed to re-sign with the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Stecker, who originally signed with the Saints in 2004 after four years with Tampa Bay, scored five touchdowns and caught 36 passes during six starts last season. "We made re-signing Aaron a priority because it takes continuity to build on what we've been able to accomplish on offense the last two seasons," said Saints general manager Mickey Loomis.
Analysis: Stecker was the perfect replacement for Reggie Bush late in the year, and it helped the Saints nearly pull into the postseason. But because he'll back up Bush, Stecker isn't anything more than a final-round insurance policy for those owners that take Bush.
News:Aaron Stecker toiled in the NFL as a prototypical third-down back, but got a shot to be the primary ball carrier for the Saints after injuries befell Deuce McAllister and Reggie Bush. Stecker thrived -- in Weeks 14 through 16 he amassed 56 carries for 248 yards with four touchdowns and 12 catches for 84 yards. He missed Week 17 with a turf toe injury. Stecker's solid play came at the right time -- the eight-year NFL veteran with 373 career rushes is scheduled to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
Analysis: We're not sure how much sense it would make for the Saints to bring back Stecker with McAllister, Bush and rookie Pierre Thomas expected on the roster. Then again, Stecker was the perfect replacement for Bush late in the year, and it helped the Saints nearly pull into the postseason. If he sticks with the Saints, Stecker wouldn't be anything more than a final-round insurance policy for those owners that take Bush. If he moves elsewhere, then he could be as good as a No. 3 Fantasy RB depending on what role he would have. Stecker is one to watch this offseason for those in deeper Fantasy leagues.
News: Even though he was active and dressed, Saints RB Aaron Stecker did not start and did not record an offensive statistic at Chicago in Week 17.
Analysis: Stecker's season ends with 444 rush yards, five rushing touchdowns and 215 receiving yards in 15 games (six starts). Once he started to take reps at RB when Reggie Bush got hurt, he played really well. Will the Saints keep him as a backup to Bush, or will they let him try and find a home via free agency? Stecker, scheduled to be a free agent this offseason, might end up elsewhere in 2008. Expect him to be a late-round pick in all drafts next summer.
News: Saints RB Aaron Stecker (turf toe) is active for Week 17 at Chicago. NewOrleansSaints.com reports that Stecker is expected to split carries with Pierre Thomas in the game.
Analysis: Don't expect a big game from Stecker even though he's facing off against a lesser run defense in the Bears. Both he and Thomas are No. 3 Fantasy RBs, but we like Thomas a smidge better because he's healthy.
News: The Saints' RB situation got a little clearer on Friday when the team ruled out RB Reggie Bush for Week 17 at Chicago. However, Aaron Stecker (toe) was listed as questionable for the game and did not practice Friday to attend his father-in-law's funeral. The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that coach Sean Payton called Stecker a game-time decision. "I think he's smart enough," Payton said of Stecker's lack of reps this week in practice. "We'll have to look at the reps and how many (plays) he can go. A lot of them will plays he's comfortable with, plays that he knows that we'll highlight on the call sheet. Certainly you'll see a lot of Pierre Thomas and we'll go from there."
Analysis: Figure Stecker to land around 12 reps if he plays, making him a No. 3 Fantasy RB at best. Pierre Thomas appears to be the better play as he'll be going up against his hometown team, and he'll be facing them during a year where they've been awful against the run. Thomas is a decent bet as a low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB.
News: Saints RBs Reggie Bush (knee) and Aaron Stecker (turf toe) both missed practice Wednesday and again Thursday in preparation for Week 17 at Chicago. They're both considered questionable for the game. Coach Sean Payton didn't rule either running back out, but how serious are their injuries? New Orleans signed RBs Artose Pinner and Chris Barclay on Wednesday.
Analysis: If Bush and Stecker are both out, rookie Pierre Thomas would be in line to take on the bulk of the work against a weak Chicago run defense. But if either Bush or Stecker are active, they'd be in line to see the most action. If they're both active, then Stecker is expected to work as a running back with Bush in his primary role as a running back/slot receiver. We'll keep you posted on the news leading up to the game, but expect the Saints' RB situation to sort itself out on Sunday an hour before kickoff.
News: Saints coach Sean Payton said RB Reggie Bush might return after missing three games with a partial tear of his left posterior cruciate ligament, an injury that normally requires about a month of rehabilitation. Payton said Bush was "pretty close" to playing against Philadelphia. "The soreness was gone. He felt pretty comfortable," Payton said. "He's going to practice Wednesday and we'll see where we're at."
Analysis: We'll be sure to monitor Bush's status for a number of reasons. Not only should Bush be effective against Chicago's shaky run defense, but he'd take snaps away from Aaron Stecker, who has come on strong of late. If Bush plays, consider him a low-end No. 2 Fantasy RB, and consider Stecker a top-end No. 3 RB option since he'll still see plenty of work after his excellent performances in Bush's stead. But if Bush misses practice and doesn't play, then Stecker is considered a No. 1 Fantasy RB at Chicago in Week 17. Stay tuned.
News: Saints RB Aaron Stecker scored twice in the first quarter vs. Philadelphia in Week 16, then hurt his knee, left the game, then returned. He finished with 49 rush yards on 13 carries and 35 yards through the air on four catches.
Analysis: Stecker should be OK to play in the season finale, a meaningless game at Chicago in Week 17. Assuming he plays, he'll be expected to produce like a top-end No. 2 Fantasy RB. We'll know more as the upcoming week develops.
News: Saints RB Aaron Stecker has scored on touchdown runs of 3 and 1 yards, totaling 38 total yards on his first six touches (thanks to a 26-yard catch-and-run) vs. Philadelphia in Week 16.
Analysis: Stecker might be playing his way into a job, either with the Saints or with another club in 2008. He's doing well and has served Fantasy owners well late this season.
News: According to the Times-Picayune in New Orleans, Saints RB Reggie Bush will return to practice this week in hopes of playing Sunday against the Eagles. Bush is still considered questionable for Sunday's game. And the team will no doubt try and keep the Eagles and the media guessing about Bush's health status throughout the week. But Saints Coach Sean Payton said Monday he is "optimistic" about Bush's possible return. "He's a little bit ahead of schedule. That's been encouraging," Payton said of Bush, who missed the previous two games with a torn posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. "I think he's feeling a lot stronger on it. He's obviously moving around a lot better on it. "We'll see where he's at Wednesday, but I know he's planning on practicing, and that will be a plus."
Analysis: If Bush is able to play Sunday, Payton said the team would be "judicious" about the number of snaps he would get. Aaron Stecker will continue to play a significant role in the Saints' offense after carrying the ball 42 times for 195 yards during the past two weeks, both victories. But Bush would be an asset, either as a change-of-pace option, a receiver out of the backfield, or simply as a distraction to the Eagles' defense. Continue to monitor Bush's status before setting your lineup this week. What Bush does will effect Stecker.
News: Saints RB Aaron Stecker ran for 95 yards and two touchdowns and caught six passes for 46 yards in New Orleans' 31-24 win over the Cardinals in Week 15.
Analysis: Stecker now has back-to-back nice games, but this one was an absolute gem as he found the end zone twice for his owners, most of whom grabbed him off the wire the last couple of weeks. Stecker will face a tough Eagles defense in Week 16, but he will still be worth starting.
News: New Orleans RB Aaron Stecker will start in Week 15 against the Cardinals with Reggie Bush (knee) out again. Stecker started in Week 14 at Atlanta and rushed for 100 yards on 20 carries. Now he gets the Cardinals, who are No. 11 against the run with 10 rushing touchdowns allowed.
Analysis: Consider Stecker a No. 2 Fantasy option against the Cardinals and hope he continues to perform like he did against the Falcons.
News: Saints RB Aaron Stecker, making his first start of the season Week 14 at Atlanta, picked up 100 yards rushing on 20 carries. He also caught three passes for seven yards.
Analysis: With Reggie Bush reportedly out for the season, Stecker should remain the starter down the stretch. He did most of his running after the Saints built up an early lead, though, so don't expect these numbers from him every week -- especially since he also has to contend with rookie Pierre Thomas. Still, he deserves a pickup and makes for a serviceable No. 2 or 3 Fantasy RB for Week 15 against the Cardinals.
News: Saints running back Reggie Bush will not play Monday night in Atlanta because of a knee injury. He had been listed as questionable for Week 14 after an MRI this week indicated a partially torn left knee ligament. The team Saturday did not comment about Bush's prospects for the rest of the season. With Bush out, Jamaal Branch, Aaron Stecker and rookie Pierre Thomas will be the running back. Thomas returned to practice Friday following a kidney bruise.
Analysis: Stecker has the most experience out of the three running backs and it is expected that the Saints will likely lean on him the most against the Falcons. He has carried the ball 59 times for 200 yards and one touchdown this season. Thomas, a rookie out of Illinois, is the second most experienced back with 19 carries for 78 yards and a touchdown. Branch has dressed for just one game this season and has zero carries. Consider Stecker a No. 3 Fantasy RB or 'flex' option for Week 14, while Branch and Thomas are merely desperation options at this juncture.
News: ESPN is reporting that Saints RB Reggie Bush has been diagnosed with a torn PCL in his knee and that he might miss the rest of the season. The team has confirmed the diagnosis but also said they are seeking a second opinion from Dr. James Andrews to determine if surgery is needed. Bush told a source that he doesn't expect to play in Week 14, and possibly for the rest of the season. If Bush were to miss Week 14, Aaron Stecker and rookie Pierre Thomas would get the nod and split reps against an iffy Falcons defense.
Analysis: It's a good idea to check out Stecker and/or Thomas in your league and grab them off your waiver wire, and that's if you own Reggie Bush or not. Stecker is an excellent receiver out of the backfield with good speed and versatility while Thomas is a power runner who did well during the preseason. The Saints might use this duo the same way they used Bush and Deuce McAllister before they both got hurt. As soon as we learn more about Bush's injury, we'll bring it to you.
News: Saints RB Aaron Stecker rushed seven times for 16 yards during a Week 13 loss to the Bucs. He also had four catches for 35 yards. Stecker touched the ball more than 10 times for the second straight game after doing so just twice in the first 10 games.
Analysis: Reggie Bush has been a little banged up recently and that has enabled Stecker to touch the ball a few more times. Too bad he just doesn't produce a lot of yards and points. Stecker is merely Fantasy insurance for Bush owners heading into Week 14 against the Falcons.
News: Saints RB Aaron Stecker carried a team-high 13 times in Week 12 at Carolina for 42 yards and he also caught two passes for eight yards.
Analysis: With Reggie Bush playing, but a little banged up, the Saints split carries between Stecker, Bush and Pierre Thomas. Once Bush returns to full strength, Stecker will return to his minimized role as a backup and won't be of much Fantasy help. Consider him insurance for Bush owners.
News: The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports that Saints RB Reggie Bush sat out practice Friday with his bruised left shin and is a game-time decision for Week 12 at Carolina, according to coach Sean Payton. If Bush doesn't play, his reps will be split between Pierre Thomas and Aaron Stecker (with Stecker the better play in reception-based leagues).
Analysis: What might happen is that Thomas works on most "rushing downs" while Stecker fills in on "passing downs." Against the Panthers' 20th-ranked run defense, they're both no better than low-end No. 3 RBs if they play, with Stecker the slightly more appealing option because of his solid receiving skills. We'll have the word on these players an hour before kickoff on Sunday.
News: Saints RB Aaron Stecker caught two passes for 9 yards at Houston in Week 11.
Analysis: Stecker is not a reliable stat producer and shouldn't be considered a good Fantasy option in the Saints' Week 12 game at Carolina. His best Fantasy role remains as an insurance policy for Reggie Bush in RB-intensive leagues.
News: Saints RB Aaron Stecker had three carries for 26 yards and a touchdown Sunday against the Rams. He also had one catch for 8 yards.
Analysis: Stecker scored the touchdown in the fourth quarter when Reggie Bush was shaken up. He also got the first carry of the game with Bush split out wide. He's worth owning in deep leagues, but he should not be started in Week 11 at the Texans.
News: Saints RB Reggie Bush took limited practice reps for the second straight session Friday and the team has opted to list him as questionable for Week 10 vs. St. Louis. Bush did not practice Wednesday because of a sore left knee, but felt better on Thursday. He bruised the knee late in the Saints' 41-24 victory over Jacksonville Week 9 and said on Wednesday that he expected to face the Rams. "I just banged it up a little bit last game. That's really it. There's nothing broken, nothing torn or anything like that," Bush said Wednesday. "Just a normal everyday football injury that you go through. (Sitting out of practice) was precautionary to get ready for the game this weekend."
Analysis: If Bush is unable to play, that means Aaron Stecker and Pierre Thomas could split time in the backfield. The Rams have a poor run defense and either player can be used as a last-second 'flex' option in the event Bush cannot play Sunday. Continue to follow the situation up until Sunday's inactives.
News: Saints RB Aaron Stecker rushed six times for 24 yards in Week 9 vs. Jacksonville. He also caught two passes for 11 yards.
Analysis: Stecker continues to back up starter Reggie Bush and will see an erratic amount of carries on a weekly basis. He's not worth owning outside of deeper formats as insurance for Bush owners.
News: Saints RB Aaron Stecker ran for 35 yards on 10 carries in New Orleans' 31-10 win over the 49ers in Week 8. He also caught two passes for four yards.
Analysis: Six of Stecker's six carries came on the last, meaningless drive of the game, so his 10-carry total is a little deceiving. Reggie Bush's injury did not look that serious, so Stecker will likely continue to come off the bench in Week 9 when the Saints host the Jaguars. He remains nothing more than insurance for Bush owners in Fantasy play.
News: Saints RB Aaron Stecker ran once for one yard and caught two passes for 11 in Week 7 against the Falcons.
Analysis: Stecker plays second string to Reggie Bush with Deuce McAllister out, but he doesn't contribute much in that role. If you have him in Fantasy, only have him as insurance for Bush. The Saints visit the 49ers in Week 8.
News: Aaron Stecker limped off the field with 2:13 remaining in the fourth quarter of Week 6 at Seattle with an apparent right ankle injury. He was helped from the field favoring his right lower leg.
Analysis: Stecker finished with eight carries for 17 yards and two grabs for 10 yards before departing. The exact injury is not yet known, but he'll likely appear on the official NFL injury report heading into Week 7 against the Falcons.
News: Saints RB Aaron Stecker, used as Reggie Bush's spell back in the absence of Deuce McAllister, netted only nine yards on seven touches -- four carries for 12 yards and three catches for negative three -- in Week 5 against the Panthers. By comparison, Bush had 119 yards on 30 touches.
Analysis: Stecker did have a touchdown negated by a penalty at one point in the contest, so the Saints clearly don't consider him chopped liver. Still, Bush handled the vast majority of touches out of the backfield, limiting Stecker's Fantasy value. Consider Stecker nothing more than a bye-week replacement for Week 6 at the Seahawks. He deserves to be owned in most leagues, but not starting.
News: With Deuce McAllister out for the year, the Saints will lean on Aaron Stecker and Pierre Thomas to replace him at running back when Reggie Bush is winded or lined up elsewhere on the field. The Panthers rank 21st in the NFL against the run this year but have given up just three rushing touchdowns through four games.
Analysis: Stecker is a versatile threat with very good hands who could see as many as 10 touches in the game, while Thomas, a rookie, is more of a physical, inside type. Neither RB should start for Fantasy owners, but both are decent fliers to spend a roster spot or two on in standard Fantasy play. If they're unimpressive this week, just cut them next week.

News: Aaron Stecker had 13 carries for 29 yards in Week 9 against the Bears. He also reeled in two balls for 17 yards in the loss.
Analysis: Stecker is clearly the No. 2 tailback. With the solid play of Antowain Smith, Stecker might lose a few touches unless he can pick up his play.
News: Aaron Stecker (illness) is no longer listed as questionable on the injury report. He practiced Friday and will play Sunday.
Analysis: Stecker will split carries with Antowain Smith, but they have a tough matchup vs. the Bears defense. Consider Stecker only out of necessity in Fantasy leagues for this reason. The illness shouldn't affect him too much.
