(9/25/2013) Cowboys right guard Brian Waters worked with the first team in Wednesday's practice, ahead of starter Mackenzy Bernadeau, reports the Dallas Morning News. Waters played half the snaps against the Rams in Week 3 after playing 27 percent of the snaps in Week 2, the report said.

Cowboys owner believes running game will improve

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/17/2013) The Cowboys have averaged 62 rushing yards through the first two games, which ties Dallas with Atlanta for the 26th-best rushing average. Despite the poor results, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones believes the addition of offensive lineman Brian Waters to the starting lineup will benefit DeMarco Murray and the running game, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram.

"We thought Waters played good for the numbers of snaps he came in there," Jones said of Waters, who played 18 snaps in his 2013 debut Sunday against the Chiefs. "So Waters will be in there. That’ll improve us just as far as if you want to look at personnel."

Jones insists the Cowboys will run the ball more and be more effective on the ground.

"We are implementing more tight ends in our offense," Jones said. "That ought to give us better blocking than we’ve had in the past. [James] Hanna played an outstanding game. He’s going to be more of a factor for us. When I look at everything, I see improvement in the future in our running game."

Cowboys hopeful Anthony Spencer, Brian Waters are ready to play

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/10/2013) Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said Tuesday he is hopeful defensive end Anthony Spencer (knee) and guard Brian Waters (healthy scratch) will be able to play Week 2 at Kansas City. Both players sat out Week 1.

"We don’t want to bring Spencer along any faster than we have to, but he sure had a good last two or three days before we stopped Sunday," Jones told KRLD-FM during his radio show Tuesday morning. "And the same thing with Waters. Waters was actually amazing that he was able to move and have the football machinations that you have to do beyond endurance, so I think there is a chance he can play too."
