Colts sign ILB Jerrell Freeman to qualifying offer

(4/27/2015) Linebacker Jerrell Freeman has signed his one-year qualifying offer for a reported $2.35 million and will remain with the Colts for a fourth season, the team website has reported. He had been a restricted free agent.

The three-year starter led Indianapolis in tackles in 2012 and 2013 before losing four games to a hamstring injury last year. He still finished with 95 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks.


Jerrell Freeman skipping Colts' voluntary workouts

(4/21/2015) Colts linebacker Jerrell Freeman was a no-show at the team's offseason workouts that started on Monday.

Freeman is a restricted free agent and still hasn't signed his offer from the team, per the Indy Star. The Colts offered a one-year $2.35 million deal that would require a second-round pick as compensation from any team that signs Freeman. 

Freeman has until Friday to get an offer from another team. The Colts workouts are voluntary, so there will be no penalty for Freeman missing them.

All the Colts who were probable on the injury report also are active. The list includes wideout Reggie Wayne (groin), tight end Dwayne Allen (knee), linebacker Jerrell Freeman (hamstring), guard Joe Reitz (ankle), linebacker Erik Walden (knee) and linebacker Bjoern Werner (shoulder).

Indy is a 3.5-point home favorite.

(12/22/2014) Colts coach Chuck Pagano said linebacker Jerrell Freeman underwent an MRI on his injured hamstring and has been listed as day to day moving forward, according to RTV6 in Indianapolis. Pagano would not reveal the severity of Freeman's injury, leaving his status uncertain for Sunday's season finale against Tennesse.

Indianapolis is currently a 6 1/2-point favorite at Tennessee.

Freeman contributed seven tackles and one forced fumble in Week 1, but did not play Monday night against Philadelphia.

(9/13/2014) Colts head coach Chuck Pagano told reporters Saturday that starting linebacker Jerrell Freeman (hamstring) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Eagles.

It's a blow to the team's pass defense, as Freeman is regarded as the defense's best coverage linebacker. In his absence, the start will go to Josh McNary, of whom Pagano said, "The guy can flat out run and cover," per Colts.com. Offensive lineman Joe Reitz has also been ruled out for Monday's game.
