Colts inactives Week 3

(11:52 am ET) The Colts have listed WR Da'Rick Rogers, LB Jerrell Freeman, LB Chris Carter, OL Lance Louis, C Khaled Holmes, OL Joe Reitz and DL Arthur Jones as inactive Week 3 against the Jaguars. 

Both Freeman and Jones had been ruled out prior to the final report being released. Holmes was considered probable, while Jones was listed as questionable. The other three players are healthy scratches.

Listed as questionable are defensive tackle Ricky Jean Francois (ankle), wideout Hakeem Nicks (illness) and guard Joe Reitz (ankle). Cornerback Darius Butler (neck), wide receiver T.Y. Hilton (groin), offensive lineman Khaled Holmes (ankle) and cornerback Greg Toler (ribs).

(9/18/2014) Colts linebacker Jerrell Freeman is still nursing a hamstring injury, but defensive coordinator Greg Manusky has not ruled him out for the Sunday game against Jacksonville, per the Indianapolis Star.

Freeman contributed seven tackles and one forced fumble in Week 1, but did not play Monday night against Philadelphia.

(9/13/2014) Colts head coach Chuck Pagano told reporters Saturday that starting linebacker Jerrell Freeman (hamstring) has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Eagles.

It's a blow to the team's pass defense, as Freeman is regarded as the defense's best coverage linebacker. In his absence, the start will go to Josh McNary, of whom Pagano said, "The guy can flat out run and cover," per Colts.com. Offensive lineman Joe Reitz has also been ruled out for Monday's game.

(12/31/2013) Colts linebacker Jerrell Freeman has been a one-man wrecking crew during the team's three-game win streak, producing 29 tackles, four forced fumbles, two sacks, an interception and a fumble recovery. His six forced fumbles this season are a franchise record.

"As you get seasoned, you try to bring more to your game, and that was one of the things: try to get turnovers, try to get the ball out, get interceptions," Freeman told the Indianapolis Star. "However I can get the ball and give it back to the offense."

Freeman has 75 tackles (50 solo) through nine games. He also has a career-high 3 1/2 sacks.

Linebacker Bjoern Werner (foot) was unable to practice throughout the week and has been ruled out, while linebacker Kelvin Sheppard (hamstring) and defensive back Darius Butler (groin) are officially questionable after being limited throughout the week.

Linebacker Jerrell Freeman (concussion) and defensive backs LaRon Landry (ankle) and Delano Howell (neck) were able to practice without restriction throughout the week and are probable on the injury report.

Freeman has been a tackling machine in 2013 with 51. He has added three sacks, though none were recorded in the last three games.

(10/15/2013) The Colts DST got humbled in Week 6 as San Diego ran the ball 37 times for 147 yards. The Chargers controlled the ball for more than 38 minutes, wearing down Indy's defense.

The Colts DST, which gave up 374 yards and did not force a turnover, suffered when leading tackler Jerrell Freeman left with a concussion. He had eight tackles before halftime.

Linebacker Kelvin Sheppard and defensive end Cory Redding sacked Philip Rivers once each. But overall it was the unit's worst performance this season.

The Colts DST faces a much tougher matchup Week 7 against Peyton Manning's Broncos.

(9/22/2013) The Colts DST handed 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick his first home loss in a dominant performance. Indianapolis forced two turnovers, got three sacks and held San Francisco to 254 yards in the 27-7 win.

Several defenders made big plays, including linebackers Robert Mathis (1.5 sacks) and Jerrell Freeman (8 tackles, sack). Cornerback Cassius Vaughn snagged an interception, and linebacker Kavell Conner recovered a fumble.

The Colts DST heads to Jacksonville in Week 4 with a ton of momentum.
