News: The Seattle Seahawks have re-signed kicker Steven Hauschka. Last season he made 24 of 27 field goals as part of setting a career-high with 118 points, though he did miss two extra points.
Analysis: In two seasons with the Hawks he's attempted 30 and 27 field goals, making at least 83.3 percent of his kicks. He should be on pace to get near those totals again. Though the Seattle offense is probably as explosive as its ever been Hauschka is only in the running to begin the season as a decent Fantasy option because the Seahawks play the Panthers and their presumed weak defense in Week 1.
News: The Seahawks have placed kicker Steven Hauschka on injured reserve and signed kicker Ryan Longwell, the team announced Wednesday. Hauschka converted 24 of 27 field goals and 46 of 48 extra points this season and set the postseason franchise-mark with three field goals made in the NFC Wild Card game at Washington while kicking with an injured calf. Longwell last kicked with the Vikings in 2011. He did not play in the NFL this season.
Analysis: Fantasy owners in Playoff Challenge leagues should ignore Hauschka for the rest of the year. He should have the chance to win the starting job in Seattle again next year, but he's a free agent heading into this offseason. Keep an eye on what develops prior to next year, but Hauschka would only be considered a No. 2 Fantasy option at best.
News: Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka drilled three field goals and an extra point despite playing with an ankle injury during Seattle's 24-14 victory at Washington in an NFC Wild Card matchup Sunday. The right-footed Hauschska was playing with a left ankle injury that clearly affected his planting foot and limped off the field to the locker room after the game. But he was able to connect on kicks of 32, 29 and 22 yards during the contest. "We don't know where it's going yet," coach Pete Carroll said after the game.
Analysis: Hauschka has served as one of the top kickers this season so the Seahawks were determined to keep him active after he converted 88.9 percent of his attempts. His 10 points Sunday marked the fifth occasion he topped double-digits in points, but he finished without multiple extra points for the first time in the past 10 games. If he's able to stay healthy, he should be viewed as a quality option for the next round of the playoffs at Atlanta.
News: Seattle kicker Steven Hauschka had a solid finish to the regular season in Sunday's Week 17 win over the Rams. Hauschka nailed two field goals in the game as he connected from 43 and 49 yards, respectively. He added two PATs and finished with eight points scored in the win.
Analysis: With the Seahawks scoring almost at will late in the season, Hauschka definitely grew in Fantasy value. He finished strong with two double-digit scoring efforts in his last four games. That said, he only was in double figures four times all year as he suffered through plenty of misses. He certainly wasn't the most consistent of Fantasy options and is not recommended entering the Fantasy playoffs.
News: After scoring a combined 30 points over his last two games, Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka was not asked to much as he did not need to kick a field goal during Sunday's contest at home against the 49ers in Week 16. Hauschka, did however, drill six extra point attempts in a 42-13 victory.
Analysis: Hauschka has taken advantage of Seattle's 150-point outburst over the last three games. He has converted 22 of 25 field goals this season and has drilled 34 extra points thus far. Fantasy owners should view him as a low-end option in deeper formats heading into the final week of the season at home against the Rams.
News: After scoring a season-high 16 points his last time out, Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka was nearly as productive in Week 15 against the Bills. He made all three of his field goals and converted 5 of 6 extra points in the 50-17 win. Hauschka made his field goals from distances of 19, 23 and 33 but had an extra point blocked in the third quarter.
Analysis: Hauschka has benefited from the Seahawks putting up 50-plus points in each of the last two games and has made 22 of 25 field goals this season. Scoring could be at a premium in Week 16 against the 49ers, however, so continue to view the 27-year-old as more of a low-end option in Fantasy.
News: Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka had his most productive game of the season in Week 14 against the Cardinals. He made all three of his field-goal attempts and converted seven extra points in the 58-0 blowout win. Hauschka made his field goals from distances of 28, 31 and 32 yards.
Analysis: Hauschka benefited from the Seahawks scoring a ton of points on Sunday and has now made 19 of 22 field goals on the year. All of his misses have come from 50-plus yards. Seattle could be able to put up some points again next week against the Bills so Hauschka might be worth a look in deeper Fantasy formats for Week 15.
News: Seattle kicker Steven Hauschka had an OK performance in the Week 13 overtime win at Chicago Sunday. Hauschka recorded his only field goal from 31 yards out in the second quarter of the win. He added two extra points and finished with five points scored on the game.
Analysis: Hauschka has not recorded double figures in Fantasy scoring since Week 5 of the season. He's only done it twice all year and is not a recommended Fantasy option for Week 14 against Arizona.
News: Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka was not given a chance to make an impact in Week 12 against the Dolphins. He had no field-goal attempts in the game, being limited to just three extra-point attempts in a 24-21 loss.
Analysis: Hauschka has not attempted a field goal since Week 9, as he was limited to just extra-points in Week 10 against the Jets as well. The Seahawks have been an all-or-nothing offense recently, with few chances for field goals. Hauschka should be considered more of a low-end Fantasy kicker entering Week 13 against the Bears.
News: Seattle kicker Steven Hauschka did not attempt a field goal and was restricted to just four extra points during the Seahawks' 28-7 victory over the Jets in Week 10. Hauschka drilled at least three extra points for the third straight game, but has not topped six points in that stretch.
Analysis: Both kickers failed to register a field-goal attempt as Nick Folk was also shut out. As for Hauschka, he has tried just three field goals over his past three games and converted two of them. He is also tied to an inconsistent offense and is a low-end Fantasy option in Week 12 at Minnesota following the Seahawks' upcoming bye.
News: Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka made one field goal and three extra points during Seattle's 30-20 win over Minnesota in Week 9. Hauschka converted a 40-yard kick in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring and finish with one field goal for the second game in a row. He did miss his first extra-point attempt of the season when his kick was blocked in the second quarter.
Analysis: Hauschka has finished in single digits in scoring the past six games as the Seahawks haven't provided him many field-goal opportunities. But when he does earn the chance, he has been reliable and is 15 for 18 on the season with a long of 52 yards. Consider him a low-end option in most Fantasy formats for Week 10 against the Jets.
News: Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka was 1/2 in filed goals on Sunday, nailing a 23-yard attempt early in the game, but missing a 61-yard try at the end of the first half. His miss was straight, but didn't have the distance.
Analysis: Hauschka also converted three extra point tries. He has missed three field goals on the season, but also has a long of 52, and has enough skill for his coach to give him a 61-yard attempt. He should be considered a low-end option, but only because Seattle's offense isn't exactly a juggernaut. If they start giving him more extra point tries, he could get a bump in value.
News: Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka received three field-goal tries in the first half of Thursdays game against the 49ers, but the opportunities dried up after that. Hauschka nailed two of three attempts in the game, once from 52 yards and another from 35 yards. He also missed a 31-yard try. The Seahawks offense did little in a 13-6 loss, so he had no extra-point tries.
Analysis: Hauschka has now missed just two field goals on the year, going 13 for 15. He has just 11 extra-point attempts, as the Seahawks offense has struggled at times. He should be considered more of a low-end starting Fantasy option for Week 8 against the Lions.
News: Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka made the lone field goal he attempted in Week 6 against the Patriots. He nailed a 34-yarder in the first quarter and also converted three extra points in the 24-23 win.
Analysis: Hauschka has made 11 of 12 field goals so far this season while converting all 11 of his PATs. Since Seattle is not a high-scoring offense, however, continue to view the 27-year-old as more of a bye-week replacement heading into Week 7 against the 49ers.
News: Seattle kicker Steven Hauschka booted three field goals and an extra-point during the Seahawks' 16-12 win over Carolina in Week 5. Hauschka connected on kicks of 22, 36 and 44 yards to finish with three field goals for the second time this season.
Analysis: Hauschka seems to produce better on the road as he's gone 8 for 9 on field-goal attempts and posted his only two double-digit outings of the year away from home. Fantasy owners should view Hauschka as a low-end option for Week 6 against New England as his chances could be limited.
News: Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka connected on field goals from 30 and 31 yards Week 4 at St. Louis. He also had one extra point in a 19-13 loss.
Analysis: Hauschka has two made field goals in three of four games this season, but he has managed 10-plus points just once. The Seahawks have one of the worst overall offenses in the NFL. Hauschka is getting a decent amount of field goal chances, but he is still a low-end Fantasy option heading into Week 5 at Carolina.
News: Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka was not much of factor in Week 3 against the Packers. Hauschka did not attempt a field goal for the first time all season in the 14-12 win as he was only needed on two PAT tries. He did make both of his extra points and finished with just two points.
Analysis: Hauschka was not needed much Monday night as there was not a ton of scoring in Seattle's most recent win. While he is still 5 for 5 with a long of 47 yards on the year, the Seahawks are a major work in progress on offense right now, which could limit the 27-year-old's opportunities most weeks. Fantasy owners should continue to view Hauschka as merely a low-end option heading into Week 4 at St. Louis.
News: Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka had another busy game in Week 2 against the Cowboys. After netting 10 points in the season opener, he made both of his field goals and converted three extra points in the 27-7 win. Hauschka made his field goals from distances of 21 and 25 yards.
Analysis: Hauschka proved to be a decent option in Fantasy a year ago and has gotten off to a productive start so far in 2012. Since Seattle does not have a high-potent offense, however, continue to ignore the 27-year-old in all but the deepest of Fantasy formats heading into Week 3 against the Packers.
News: Seahawks kicked Steve Hauschka got off to a bad start in the 2012 NFL season, as he had his first field goal attempt blocked in the first quarter of a 20-16 loss to the Cardinals. He recovered from there, drilling each of his next three attempts from 27, 47 and 39 yards. He also converted his only extra-point attempt of the game, finishing with 10 points.
Analysis: Hauschka finished last season with 25 field goals in 30 field-goal attempts, and it looks like he is going to get some opportunities this season with a Seahawks offense that may stall at times. The Seahawks will probably not score a many touchdowns this season, though, so opportunities might be limited. Leave him on waivers as an injury replacement heading into Week 2 against Dallas.
News: The Seattle Times reports that kicker Steven Hauschka signed his one-year tender and will play in a contract year with the Seahawks. Hauschka was a restricted free agent. He made 25 of 30 field goals last season including two from 50-plus yards.
Analysis: The Seahawks' offense added some talent this offseason but still isn't expected to be dominant. They should set up Hauschka for about as many field goal attempts this season, but he's just not quite among the Top 12 Fantasy kickers to trust right off the bat this season. Expect him to be a kicker available off waivers for one-week use during the season.
News: Seahawks K Steven Hauschka had a productive outing in Week 17 against the Cardinals. He made 2 of 3 field goals and converted both of his extra points in the 23-20 loss. He made his field goals from distances of 26 and 43 yards.
Analysis: Hauschka had a career campaign in his first season with the Seahawks but was not a huge option in Fantasy. Unless he kicks for a team that scores a bunch of points in 2012, plan on ignoring him in the majority of Fantasy formats.
News: Seahawks K Steven Hauschka made his lone field-goal attempt in Week 16 against the 49ers. Hauschka connected from 19 yards in the second quarter, extending the Seattle's lead to 10-3. He also made both of his extra point attempts to finish with five points in the 19-17 contest.
Analysis: Hauschka is now 23 for 27 in field goal attempts this season with a long of 52 yards. However, the Seahawks offensive struggles have really limited the 26-year-old's chances over the last few weeks. Fantasy owners should consider Hauschka a low-end Fantasy K heading into Week 17 against the 49ers.
News: Seahawks K Steven Hauschka had only one field goal -- a 33-yarder -- Week 15 at Chicago, but he contributed a season-high five extra points. He has now scored at least seven points in three straight games.
Analysis: The Seahawks have become more reliable in recent weeks with the improved play of the defense and RB Marshawn Lynch, making Hauschka at least a usable Fantasy option. He still doesn't put up big enough numbers to be a top-12 kicker, though, so he's no more than a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Seahawks K Steven Hauschka made three of his four field goals in Week 14 against the Rams. He connected from 42 yards in the first half and nailed a 23-yarder in the third quarter before missing a 38-yard attempt. He would make a 48-yard field goal in the fourth quarter. Hauschka also converted three extra points in the 30-13 win.
Analysis: Hauschka has made 8 of 11 field goals from 40-plus yards this season but since the Seahawks do not score a ton of points, he does not hold a ton of value in Fantasy. Continue to view him as more of a low-end Fantasy K for Week 15 against the Bears.
News: Seattle kicker Steven Hauschka converted all four of his extra-point attempts in Week 13 against Philadelphia. He also connected on a 49-yard field goal, helping the Seahawks to a 31-14 win.
Analysis: Thursday marked one of the best offensive outbursts for Seattle, giving Hauschka some chances to contribute. But the fact the Seahawks don't score a lot hurts Hauschka's Fantasy value. Other than in deep leagues, he is not a recommended Fantasy option at this stage of the season.
News: Seattle K Steven Hauschka missed a 51-yard field goal on Sunday in the Week 12 loss to the Redskins. Hauschka's field goal could have gone a long way to helping the Seahawks win the game. Instead, Hauschka finished 1 for 2 on field goals with a long of 36 yards. He added two extra points and finished with five points on the game.
Analysis: Hauschka has had a few big efforts this season for Seattle. He's scored well over single digits in two games, but has failed to reach double figures in scoring in every other game this season. Seattle isn't exactly a juggernaut in terms of scoring points and that limits Hauschka's Fantasy value. Playing the Eagles Week 13, Philadelphia has been one of the best teams in the NFL at limiting the Fantasy production of opposing kickers. Hauschka is simply not a recommended start for Week 13.
News: Seattle K Steven Hauschka booted a field goal and three extra points during the Seahawks' 24-7 win over St. Louis in Week 11. Hauschka converted a 19-yard field goal during the second quarter to remain perfect over his past two games (6 for 6).
Analysis: Hauschka has seen plenty of work during his first season with Seattle and is now 16 of 18 on field-goal attempts. He has just one miss since Week 4, but has posted double-digits in Fantasy points only twice. Consider him a low-end option in Week 12 against Washington.
News: Seattle kicker Steven Hauschka hit a 22-yard field goal in the opening quarter of Week 10, but he was far from done on the day. He also hit form 38, 39 and 35 yards in the first half giving the Seahawks a lead heading into the half for the first time this season. Hauschka started the second half off with a 30 yarder and also his lone extra-point attempt. Seattle would go on to win the game, 22-17, behind Hauschka's solid day kicking.
Analysis: Hauschka hasn't had a ton of opportunities to score this year as Seattle has had trouble moving the ball offensively. The Seahawks inability to score off turnovers set up some of Hauschka's kicks. But Fantasy owners can't depend on him to produce on a week-to-week basis, which is why he's not a recommended start for Week 11 against the Rams.
News: Seahawks K Steven Hauschka made two field goals in a Week 9 loss to the Cowboys, but his 41-yard attempt in the third quarter was blocked by Cowboys LB Anthony Spencer. Hauschka also made two extra-point attempts in the 23-13 loss.
Analysis: Hauschka is reasonably accurate, but the Seahawks simply do not provide him with enough opportunities to score. Once again, Seattle struggled to move the ball in Week 9, so Fantasy owners have no reason to look to Hauschka to help them in Week 10.
News: Seahawks K Steven Hauschka made both of his field goal attempts in Week 8 against the Bengals. He nailed a 47-yarder in the second quarter before making one from 25 yards in the second half. He did not attempt an extra point in the 34-12 loss.
Analysis: Hauschka has done a decent job in his first season in Seattle but since the Seahawks do not put up a ton of points, it limits his appeal in Fantasy. Continue to ignore the 26-year-old in the majority of formats heading into Week 9 against the Cowboys.
News: Seahawks K Steven Hauschka didn't get many scoring chances in a 6-3 loss to the Browns in Week 7. He made his only field goal from 20 yards out in the third quarter.
Analysis: The Seahawks offense really struggled in Week 7 without QB Tarvaris Jackson (pectoral) and RB Marshawn Lynch (back). It's not like Hauschka has been a points machine when those two have been in the lineup, so he continues to be a low-end Fantasy option heading into Week 8 against the Bengals.
News: Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka converted two field goals in Week 5 at the Giants. He added four extra points to give him 10 points in the game. He converted field goals of 51 and 43 yards.
Analysis: Hauschka reached double digits in scoring for the first time this season. He had combined for just 11 points over the previous three weeks and is not somebody we recommend adding in Fantasy. The Seahawks will be on a bye in Week 6 before returning in Week 7 against the Browns.
News: Seattle K Steven Hauschka connected on four extra-point tries and missed his lone field-goal attempt during the Seahawks' 30-28 loss to Atlanta in Week 4 on Sunday. His miss came on a 61-yard attempt with 13 seconds left that came up short. Hauschka's career long is 54 yards.
Analysis: Instead of going for it on fourth down, Seattle coach Pete Carroll sent out Hauschka for the long attempt that was short and wide left. "It was definitely makable, but it was a tough kick. It was into the wind. It wasn't real warm out there so the ball wasn't going as far as it could," Hauschka said. With an inconsistent offense in front of him, Fantasy owners should look to other kicking options in Week 5 as the Seahawks face the Giants.
News: Seattle kicker Steven Hauschka hit both his field goals in Week 3 against Arizona, helping his team get the 13-10 win. He connected from 30 and 52 yards for the Seahawks and also hit his only extra--point attempt.
Analysis: Despite Hauschka showing off some power with his 52-yarder on Sunday, Fantasy owners should leave him on waivers in the majority of leagues. Seattle hosts Atlanta in Week 4.
News: Seattle kicker Steven Hauschka had zero points in Sunday's game in Week 2 at Pittsburgh. Hauschka did not attempt a field goal or extra point as Seattle lost 24-0.
Analysis: Hauschka is not a good Fantasy option in the majority of leagues. Ignore him in all formats in Week 3 against Arizona.
News: Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka connected on a 39-yard field goal in Week 1 against the 49ers in his debut with Seattle. He also converted both his extra-point attempts in Seattle's 33-17 loss to San Francisco.
Analysis: Hauschka had a nice outing on Sunday, but he still has a lot to prove to Fantasy owners before he's scooped up off waivers. Hauschka was 6 for 7 in attempts last season, with a long of 46 yards. Continue to ignore him in all leagues.
News: Multiple reports came in on Sunday saying that the Seahawks cut kicker Jeff Reed, who was signed in the offseason to take over as the starter with Olindo Mare in Carolina. Instead, the team brought in Steven Hauschka, who was let go by Denver a day earlier.
Analysis: Hauschka lost out in Denver, but he is the only kicker on the Seattle roster -- so he appears to hold the starting job for now. Fantasy owners should keep an eye on his on-the-field progress once he gets to his new team, but he has minimal value even if the job is his. Hauschka was 6 for 7 in attempts last season, with a long of 46 yards. Leave him on waivers until the role is officially his.
News: Denver kicker Steven Hauschka netted four extra-points in the Broncos' 33-28 loss to San Diego in Week 17. Hauschka did not attempt a field goal as Denver managed just three trips inside the red zone Sunday.
Analysis: Hauschka joined the Broncos prior to Week 14 when starting kicker Matt Prater has forced to season-ending injured reserve. Hauschka connected on 6 of 7 field-goal attempts and nailed 10 extra-points in four games. He will likely go undrafted in 2011 Fantasy drafts.
News: Broncos K Steven Hauschka made his lone field goal attempt in Week 16 against the Texans. Hauschka connected from 27 yards in the third quarter that capped off a seven-play, 71-yard scoring drive that pulled the Broncos within 10 points. He all three of his PATs and finished with six points in the 24-23 win.
Analysis: Hauschka, who has been filling in for the injured Matt Prater, is now 6 of 7 in field goal attempts with a long of 46 yards. It appears he will be the Broncos kicker the rest of the season and can be considered a low-end Fantasy K heading into Week 17 against the Chargers.
News: Broncos K Steven Hauschka has a busy game in Week 15 against the Raiders. He made three field goals and connected on two PATs, finishing with 11 points in the 39-23 loss. He made his attempts from 46, 35 and 45.
Analysis: Hauschka filled in for the injured Matt Prater for the second straight game on Sunday and his highest point total of the year. He did a good job of making long field goals on a wet field. Fantasy owners should check back to see if he will be kicking again for Denver next week. If he is, Hauschka might be worth using in deeper Fantasy leagues against the Texans.
News: With the Broncos ruling out kicker Matt Prater (right groin) for Week 15 against the Raiders that means Steven Hauschka will handle the placekicking duties for a second straight game.
Analysis: Hauschka hit 2 of 3 field goals last week against Arizona. He is not the most accurate kicker and that has cost him in the past in the NFL. He will only kick with Denver as long as Prater is out, so he remains a stopgap Fantasy option. The Broncos might have to start rookie QB Tim Tebow in Week 15, so we don't know how many scoring chances Hauschka will get.
News: Denver kicker Steven Hauschka connected on 2 of his 3 field-goal attempts in the Broncos' 43-13 loss at Arizona in Week 14. Hauschka, who was filling in for injured starter Matt Prater (groin), made both attempts from within 35 yards but was wide right on his 40-yard try. He also added an extra-point in the fourth quarter.
Analysis: It was a decent season debut for Hauschka as the Denver offense, which turned the ball over six times, did not provide him much work. With Prater expected back for Week 15, leave Hauschka on your Fantasy waiver wire.
News: Denver plans to sign former Baltimore K Steven Hauschka to kick on Sunday at Arizona, reports ESPN.com. Broncos kicker Matt Prater is nursing a groin injury.
Analysis: The Broncos should put up points against Arizona, so Hauschka isn't a horrible option in a pinch. Still, you should already have a better option on your roster.
News: Lions kicker Jason Hanson has yet to play in the preseason after dealing with a knee injury following surgery on Aug. 3. His replacement, Steven Hauschka, played well in the third preseason game against Cleveland on Saturday with five extra points. Hanson, as long as he's healthy, is expected to remain the starter in 2010.
Analysis: Hauschka would be considered a sleeper if Hanson can't begin the regular season. Continue to monitor what happens with Hanson, but Hauschka could be worth a late-round pick if he's the starting kicker for Detroit in 2010.
News: The Falcons announced on Sunday that kicker Steven Hauschka was released in order to sign DB Gabe Derricks. Hauschka was in a placekicking competition with Matt Bryant.
Analysis: Hauschka hit 1 of 2 field goals during Friday's preseason opener against Chiefs, but it seems the Falcons like what they saw more from Bryant, who was also 1 for 2 in the game. Until Hauschka lands a starting gig, then ignore him in Fantasy.
News: Falcons kickers Steven Hauschka and Matt Bryant remain even in their battle for the job after Friday's preseason opener against the Chiefs. They each made 1 of 2 field goal attempts, Hauschka good from 37 but hitting the crossbar from 53 yards, Bryant making from 30 and missing from 49 yards out. Each converted their extra point attempt.
Analysis: Hauschka is an unproven commodity, making 10 of 15 field goals in 17 games over three seasons. But even if he wins the job, there are better options out there. He shouldn't be considered a No. 1 Fantasy K.
News: The Falcons activated QB Matt Ryan (toe, probable), TE Tony Gonzalez (calf, questionable) and K Matt Bryant (hamstring, questionable) for Week 17 at Tampa Bay. With Bryant active, Steven Hauschka was made inactive for the game.
Analysis: Hauschka bounced around this season as a free agent kicker and is not a viable Fantasy option going into next season unless he lands a stable job for a good offensive team.
News: The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Falcons PK Matt Bryant (right hamstring) hopes to play in the team's Week 17 game against the Buccaneers. The team signed Steven Hauschka on Tuesday in case Bryant cannot kick on Sunday. Bryant had gone home on Tuesday to attend his father's funeral in Bridge City, Texas.
Analysis: Only consider Hauschka if you're desperate for kicker and if Bryant misses Week 17 with the hamstring injury. There's a chance Hauschka will only work on kickoffs and long field goals. Bryant is just a low-end option if he is able to play.
News: Atlanta PK Matt Bryant (right hamstring) was limited in practice on Thursday as the team prepares for its Week 17 game at Tampa Bay. The team signed Steven Hauschka on Tuesday in case Bryant cannot kick on Sunday. Bryant was unable to practice on Wednesday.
Analysis: Only consider Hauschka if you're desperate for kicker and if Bryant misses Week 17 with the hamstring injury. There's a chance Hauschka will only work on kickoffs and long field goals. Bryant is just a low-end option if he is able to play.
News: Atlanta PK Matt Bryant (right hamstring) did not practice on Wednesday as the team prepares for its Week 17 game at Tampa Bay. The team signed Steven Hauschka on Tuesday in case Bryant cannot kick on Sunday.
Analysis: Only consider Hauschka if you're desperate for kicker and if Bryant misses Week 17 with the hamstring injury. There's a chance Hauschka will only work on kickoffs and long field goals. Bryant is just a low-end option if he is able to play.
News: The Falcons have signed former Baltimore Ravens kicker Steve Hauschka. Matt Bryant suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday's win over Buffalo and might miss Week 17. Hauschka was released by Baltimore last month.
Analysis: Only consider Hauschka if you're desperate for kicker and if Bryant misses Week 17 with the hamstring injury. There's a chance Hauschka will only work on kickoffs and long field goals.
News: The Ravens have signed kicker Billy Cundiff after a short but perfect stint with Cleveland earlier this season. The 29-year-old Cundiff replaces an ineffective Steve Hauschka, who was cut Tuesday after missing a field goal and having an extra point blocked in Monday night's 16-0 win over the Browns.
Analysis: Cundiff has made 66 of 89 field-goal attempts. He kicked for the Cowboys from 2002-05 and was 6 for 6 on field goal tries with Cleveland as a replacement for the injured Phil Dawson. He's only worth adding in the deepest of Fantasy leagues since the Ravens offense has been known to put up some points.
News: The Ravens have released PK Steven Hauschka after missing three field goals and getting an extra point blocked over his last four games. No replacement has been named but Graham Gano seems like an option after he lost the kicking job to Hauschka in training camp. "We entered the season knowing that we would have to go through some growing pains with Steve. That happens with most new kickers in the NFL," GM Ozzie Newsome said. "But, for where we are as a team today, we need more consistent production from our kicker. Every one of our players has to step up to a Ravens' level of play, and that was not happening for Steve right now. While we do believe Steve will kick successfully in the league eventually, we need better right now. The string of important games coming up that are likely to be close, tough battles and his lack of production are reasons we needed to make this move now. We will sign a new kicker by tomorrow's practice."
Analysis: Hauschka was a decent Fantasy kicker during the bye weeks and when the Ravens offense was exploding but with the offense regressing, his replacement won't be worth adding in Fantasy play, either.
News: Baltimore K Steve Hauschka missed a 36-yard field goal in his first try on Monday night at Cleveland. He later hit from 44 yards out and finished with four points on the night. He was 1 of 2 on PATs as he had one blocked.
Analysis: Hauschka is now 9 for 13 on the season on field goal attempts after missing the 36-yarder in the Monday night game. Hauschka missed critical boots against Cincinnati and Minnesota earlier in the year, which prompted the team to work out Mike Nugent and Billy Cundiff. That might happen once again before the Week 11 game against the Colts. One thing is certain, Hauschka is not worth using in Fantasy play in that game.
News: Baltimore K Steven Hauschka missed the only field goal he attempted in the Week 9 loss at Cincinnati. Hauschka missed from 38 yards out with 6:17 left to play in the 4th quarter and the Ravens frantically trying to come back. He was 1 for 1 on PATs for a total of 1 point on the game.
Analysis: Hauschka is now 8 for 11 on the season on field goals. He has a few very solid weeks and one of which came back in Week 3 against Cleveland. He scored 10 points in that game. The Ravens play at Cleveland in Week 10 and that keeps Hauschka a viable Fantasy option for that game despite his poor Week 9 performance.
News: Baltimore K Steven Hauschka could have beaten the previously unbeaten Broncos by himself in Week 8. Hauschka was 3 for 3 on field goals with a long of 43 yards and finished 3 of 3 on PATs for a total of 12 points. The Broncos scored just seven points in the game.
Analysis: The Ravens had a breakout game against a previously unbeaten team in Week 8 and this is great news for Hauschka's Fantasy value. With a game in Week 9 at Cincinnati, we like him as a No. 1 Fantasy kicker.
News: Baltimore PK Steven Hauschka popped up on the injury report on Thursday with a right ankle injury although he was able to practice in full. He is considered probable for the team's Week 8 game against the Broncos after again practicing in full on Friday.
Analysis: Hauschka should bounce back in Week 8 against Denver after going 1 for 2 on field goals in Week 6 against Minnesota. Hauschka is a low-end No. 1 Fantasy option and good bye-week replacement for Week 8.
News: Ravens kicker Steven Hauschka was 1 of 2 on field goals Sunday at Minnesota with his made kick from 29 yards. He hit 4 of 4 extra points. But Hauschka missed a 44-yard field goal to win the game at the end of the fourth quarter in a 33-31 loss. "I thought I hit it pretty good on my foot," Hauschka said. "I will just have to get the next one."
Analysis: Hauschka should bounce back in Week 8 against Denver. The Ravens are off in Week 7 on a bye, so keep Hauschka reserved in all leagues. When active, Hauschka is a low-end No. 1 Fantasy option and good bye-week replacement.
News: Baltimore K Steven Hauschka did not attempt a field goal in Week 5 against the Bengals. He did however make two extra points in the 17-14 loss.
Analysis: This was the second week in a row that Hauschka failed to attempt a field goal. The Ravens offense looked pedestrian in Week 5 and might have a tough time again Week 6 at Minnesota. Hauschka is a borderline option at Minnesota.
News: Baltimore kicker Steven Hauschka had no field goal attempts and only three extra points Sunday at New England.
Analysis: Hauschka has played well this year, and the Ravens offense continues to give him plenty of chances to score. He should play well in Week 5 against the Bengals and is considered a good Fantasy option at home against Cincinnati.
News: Baltimore K Steven Hauschka scored 10 points in an easy win over the Browns in Week 3. Hauschka went 2 for 2 on field goals with a long of 36 yards. He also went 4 for 4 on extra points in the 34-3 win.
Analysis: Hauschka is 4 of 5 on field goals this season and has gone 13 for 13 on point afters for 25 points total. After three games, he's averaging 8.3 Fantasy points per game. That is pretty solid production. Still, since we don't feel the Ravens have a high-scoring offense, we consider him just a low-end option heading into Week 4 at New England.
News: Ravens K Steven Hauschka finished off a 31-26 win against the Chargers with a 33-yard field goal with 2:54 left in the game. Hauschka also converted all four of his PATs for a 7-point game. He is 2 for 3 on field goals this season.
Analysis: Hauschka has taken over full-time kicking duties for the Ravens after being their long field-goal specialist in 2008. The Ravens can definitely move the ball and give Hauschka regular scoring chances, but we still like him more as a low-end Fantasy option since the Ravens aren't a high-powered offense. The Ravens play the Browns in Week 3.
News: In the Ravens' Week 1 win vs. the Chiefs, PK Steven Hauschka made one of two field goals (a 44-yarder) and five extra points.
Analysis: Hauschka might develop into a good Fantasy kicker someday but it's not happening any time soon. Don't use him when the Ravens play at the Chargers in Week 2.
News: We could see a nice debut for new Ravens PK Steven Hauschka against Kansas City in Week 1. The Ravens' offense shouldn't have many troubles going after the Chiefs' defense and getting in position to score, giving Hauschka some chances to kick. Hauschka made 6 of 7 field goals this preseason to earn the starting job over Graham Gano.
Analysis: The new Ravens kicker shouldn't be considered for Fantasy play even though he's got a nice matchup. Frankly, with so many other usable Fantasy kickers out there, why trust your team to a kicker who hasn't had much game experience? Let Hauschka rattle around on waivers for a couple of weeks before you decide to let him be a part of your Fantasy team. He has plenty to prove before being a reliable Fantasy kicker.
News: The Ravens waived K Graham Gano, meaning that Steven Hauschka has won the starting kicking job for the team entering the regular season.
Analysis: Hauschka will serve as a decent one-week replacement off waivers this season. Even though he's won this job, Fantasy owners shouldn't consider him as a No. 1 option. Only think about him if your league requires multiple starting kickers.
News: Baltimore's Steve Hauschka, who had moved ahead of rookie Graham Gano for Baltimore's PK job, missed a 27-yard FG attempt before making a 38-yarder. Coach John Harbaugh said he won't decide on the job until after the final preseason game.
Analysis: Keep an eye on what happens with the Ravens kicking job, but the winner should be considered a No. 2 option at best.
News: Steve Hauschka and Graham Gano are roommates. By the middle of September, one of them will be the Ravens starting placekicker. The other will be looking for a job. Hauschka and Gano are competing to replace 41-year-old Matt Stover, the only starting kicker the Ravens have ever had. Stover came to Baltimore in 1996 with the Cleveland Browns and handled every important field goal attempt for the Ravens over the past 13 years. But after Stover began losing distance on his kickoffs and long field goal tries, Baltimore signed Hauschka last year to take care of that aspect of the job. Then, during the offseason, Baltimore decided not to renew Stover's contract. Hauschka and Gano have done well in training camp, but the final decision will probably be based upon their performance in preseason games. In last week's opener against the Washington Redskins, Hauschka got a leg up in the competition. The former North Carolina State standout kicked field goals of 21 and 37 yards and got excellent distance on three kickoffs. Gano was solid on kickoffs and connected on a 39-yard field goal, but his other field goal try hit the upright from 28 yards out on the game's final play.
Analysis: Hauschka and Gano are entrenched in a pretty tight battle for the kicker's job in Baltimore and Hauschka seems to have taken the upper hand after the first preseason game. Whoever comes away with the job to start the season should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: Baltimore K Steven Hauschka, who is competing against Graham Gano to replace Matt Stover, the last link from the Cleveland Browns' move to Baltimore in 1996, made both of his field goal attempts on Thursday in a preseason game against the Redskins. His field goals were from 37 and 21 yards away. Gano went 1 for 2 on field goal attempts in the game, making a 39-yarder and missing one with only two seconds left on the clock.
Analysis: Hauschka and Gano are entrenched in a pretty tight battle for the kicker's job in Baltimore and Hauschka seems to have taken the upper hand after the first preseason game. Whoever comes away with the job to start the season should be considered a No. 2 Fantasy option.
News: The Baltimore Sun reports that the Ravens kicker battle between Graham Gano and Steven Hauschka won't be decided until the preseason games start. Both kickers are trying to replace the departed Matt Stover. Special teams coordinator Jerry Rosburg said the young kickers know how they'll be evaluated. "When the games start, we'll find out," Rosburg said. "You can look at it in practice and your technique can be good and all of those things are going to be really positive. In the end, where we're all judged is on Sundays." At this point, Rosburg said the competition is too close to call. Both kickers have converted over 80 percent of their attempts this offseason. The winner might not be determined until after the final preseason game Sept. 3.
Analysis: Keep an eye on what happens with the Ravens kicking job, but the winner should be considered a No. 2 option at best.
News: The Carroll County Times reports Steve Hauschka has the inside edge to be the starting kicker for the Ravens this season. The report says Hauschka and Graham Gano will battle for the job, "with Hauschka holding a slight edge heading into camp." The winner will replace Matt Stover as the kicking option.
Analysis: Keep an eye on what happens with the Ravens kicking job, but the winner should be considered a No. 2 option at best.
News: The Baltimore Ravens have listed the following players as inactive for Week 16 on Saturday night at Dallas: QB Todd Bouman (3rd QB), K Steven Hauschka, WR Terrance Copper, WR Marcus Maxwell and DL Edgar Jones.
Analysis: Most of these players are nothing more than reserves or minor contributors for the Ravens. They have little to no Fantasy value when active. Keep them reserved Week 16 at Dallas.
News: Ravens QB Troy Smith, PK Steven Hauschka, WR Marcus Smith, TE Daniel Wilcox and TE Edgar Jones all dressed, but failed to record an offensive stat Week 15 vs. Pittsburgh.
Analysis: Most of these players are reserves for the Ravens and hardly play a role on offense when active. Continue to keep them off Fantasy rosters heading into Week 16 against the Cowboys.
News: Ravens PK Steven Jauschka, backup QB Troy Smith, WR Marcus Smith, TE Daniel Wilcox and FB Lorenzo Neal were all active and dressed for Week 14 vs. Washington but didn't record an offensive statistic.
Analysis: None of these players warrant Fantasy use at this point in time. Keep them all off of rosters.
News: Ravens K Steven Hauschka attempted another field goal Week 12 against the Eagles. He missed it.
Analysis: The Ravens usually just call on Hauschka for the long attempts, leaving the rest to Matt Stover. Accordingly, Hauschka has virtually no Fantasy appeal and should remain on waivers for Week 13 at Cincinnati.
News: Little-used Ravens rookie K Steven Hauschka attempted the first field goal of his career Week 10 at Houston, hitting a 54-yarder in the second quarter.
Analysis: The Ravens likely just didn't trust veteran K Matt Stover's leg for the long field goal. He made all of the team's other kicks. Leave Hauschka on waivers in Fantasy.
News: Baltimore claimed two players off waivers on Sunday. From San Diego, the Ravens claimed DT Lamar Divens, a rookie from Tennessee State. The Ravens also claimed kicker Steven Hauschka, a rookie from N.C. State, from the Vikings. Baltimore also waived one player, DT J'Vonne Parker, a second year player out of Rutgers.
Analysis: None of the above players will be anything more than depth and won't see much of the playing field in 2008. Avoid them in Fantasy.
