Saints defense dealing with plenty of injuries

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11/1/2013) The Saints have some serious injury questions heading into Week 9 against the Jets, with eight players from the defensive side of the ball dealing with injuries. Among those eight, just three are probable for Sunday's game: defensive lineman Akiem Hicks (knee), linebacker David Hawthorne (ankle) and defensive back Malcolm Jenkins (knee).

The bigger concern for the Saints are the five defenders considered questionable for the game. Defensive linemen Cameron Jordan (ankle), Tyrunn Walker (knee) and Tom Johnson, as well as defensive backs Kenny Vaccaro (concussion, back) and Roman Harper (knee) are all at risk of missing Sunday's game.

David Hawthorne, Junior Galette, Glenn Foster all get sacks

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(10/27/2013) The Saints defense got significant contributions from relative unknowns Week 8 against the Bills. Linebacker David Hawthorne tied for the team lead with eight tackles, all solo, and forced a fumble that teammate Junior Galette recovered on a sack of quarterback Thad Lewis early in the first quarter. It was Hawthorne's second sack this season.

Galette forced a fumble on a sack of his own in the second quarter, but the Saints didn't recover it. He also had six tackles, including five solo. The sack was his fourth of the year.

Defensive lineman Glenn Foster also contributed a sack, his second of the year. It was his only tackle on the day.
