Trio of Buccaneers probables ready to roll in Week 13

(11/30/2014) Three Buccaneers who had been deemed probable for the Week 13 game against visiting Cincinnati have been given the thumbs-up for action. They are defensive end Da'Quan Bowers (knee), safety Dashon Goldson (illness) and running back Charles Sims (ankle).

(11/28/2014) The Buccaneers listed 10 players on its final injury report for Sunday's contest against Cincinnati. Defensive end Da'Quan Bowers (knee), safety Dashon Goldson (illness) and running back Charles Sims (ankle) were the only three players deemed probable.

Meanwhile, the following seven players were labeled as questionable for Week 13: Linebacker Lavonte David (hamstring), center Evan Dietrich-Smith (illness), defensive tackle Clinton McDonald (hamstring), tight end Brandon Myers (calf), tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins (back), tight end Luke Stocker (concussion) and safety Major Wright (shoulder).


Buccaneers list inactives for Week 12

(11/23/2014) The Buccaneers have listed WR Robert Herron, RB Mike James, CB Crezdon Butler, CB C.J. Wilson, LB Lavonte David, T Kevin Pamphile and DE Da'Quan Bowers as inactive against the Bears Week 12.

David was the only player listed on the injury report. He came into the game questionable due to a hamstring injury. David was able to get through limited practice Wednesday, but did not participate in practice Thursday and Friday.

(10/21/2014) The NFL suspended Buccaneers defensive end Da'Quan Bowers two games for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances. Bowers' suspension starts immediately. He is eligible to return to practice Monday, Nov. 3.

In five games this season, Bowers has six tackles and a sack.

Da'Quan Bowers, Evan Dietrich-Smith, Demar Dotson, William Gholston, Logan Mankins and Bradley McDougald were all active for Thursday's game. All six players were probable coming into the game.

Michael Johnson was listed as questionable, but should also be able to play.

(9/9/2014) Buccaneers defensive lineman Da'Quan Bowers said Tuesday he is optimistic about making his season debut Week 2 against the Rams after missing about a month due to a groin injury.

"I’ll practice and see how it feels," Bowers said, per ESPN. "Hopefully, there are no setbacks. If I can get some quality work in this week, we’ll see what happens."

Defensive linemen Da'Quan Bowers (abdomen) and William Gholston (shoulder) were ruled out along with defensive backs Rashaan Melvin (ankle) and Bradley McDougald (knee). All four were either limited or unavailable through the week in practice as a result of their injuries.

Da'Quan Bowers warned by coach about his absence

(8/21/2014) Buccaneers defensive tackle Da'Quan Bowers is not just nursing a groin strain, but now he must think about the warning of Lovie Smith that threatens his starting job.

"I think every day you don't practice, you're hurting your chances," Smith told the Tampa Tribune. "And we've seen enough to like Da'Quan a lot. But all the reps that he's not getting, someone else is getting them.

"The best way to beat your competition sometimes is just to stay on the field. You can't get Wally Pipp'd. Da'Quan is trying to get back, and again I think he has a future in the league, whether it be as a defensive end or a third-down rush-guy inside."

Bowers lost playing time and production in each of the last two years.

(6/6/2014) Buccaneers defensive end Da’Quan Bowers showed up to training camp out of shape last year and lost his starting job, according to the Tampa Tribune. Slowed by an unspecified injury this offseason, Bowers returned to workouts recently in far from ideal condition, the paper said.

"He’s not there yet," Bucs defensive line coach Joe Cullen said after a workout this week. "He’s got to get into great shape to be able to do those things (he’s capable of)."

(4/28/2014) Buccaneers defensive lineman Da'Quan Bowers missed the team's April minicamp with problems stemming from the knee injury suffered during the 2013 season.

"He's learning the system, and eventually, he'll get out there," coach Lovie Smith said per the Tampa Bay Times. "I know rehab is going well. He's a good football player, but he needs to prove it right now. He'll get an opportunity. A player like that should be able to excel in a defense like ours."

Bothered by a knee problem last season, Bowers had seven tackles and a sack in 13 games and was unable to hold a starting job.

(1/30/2014) Buccaneers defensive line coach Joe Cullen believes he can help lineman Da'Quan Bowers, according to the Tampa Tribune.

"Some guys blossom early and some blossom late, and I studied Da’Quan really hard when he was coming out of college and so I’m really excited to work with him and see what we can do there,’’ Cullen said. Bowers has struggled since a knee injury during his senior season. Bowers looked like he was ready for a big year in 2013, but showed up to camp out of shape. Cullen believes Bowers has the skills to succeed. "I think he has the qualities to be a dominant defensive lineman. He’s big, he’s powerful, he’s strong, and those are all great qualities."

Bowers is dealing with a knee injury. He missed Week 16 due to the injury. Bowers will miss Week 17, and will rehab in the offseason.

Seven Buccaneers record a sack vs. Bills

(12/8/2013) The Buccaneers terrorized Bills quarterback EJ Manuel in Week 14, as they racked up seven sacks in a 27-6 win. Seven players took part in the sack party, with defensive end William Gholston standing as the only player to record more than one sack in the game.

Lavonte David, Gerald McCoy, Mark BarronDarrelle Revis and Derek Landri all took Manuel down once, while Da'Quan Bowers recorded a half sack in the win.
