49ers DST scores late

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(12/24/2013) The 49ers DST buckled down when it mattered the most. With Atlanta threatening to tie or pull ahead with just over a minute left, linebacker NaVorro Bowman intercepted a deflected Matt Ryan pass and returned it 89 yards for the clinching touchdown.

On the play, cornerback Tramaine Brock blanketed receiver Harry Douglas and knocked the ball up in the air. Brock got his own interception on the game's final play, snagging a Hail Mary in the end zone.

San Francisco finished with those two interceptions and got a sack from defensive tackle Justin Smith. Thus the 49ers came through for Fantasy owners despite giving up 402 yards.

The 49ers DST visits Arizona in Week 17.

Tramaine Brock doubles career interception total

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(10/7/2013) 49ers cornerback Tramaine Brock, who had two interceptions in his first three seasons, matched that total in the win over Houston.

Brock picked off Matt Schaub on the third play of the game, returning it 18 yards for a touchdown. He intercepted Schaub on another out route in the second quarter, this time deflecting the ball to himself.

On both picks Brock was covering Andre Johnson, who pulled him down from behind the second time. Brock later drew a pass-interference flag on DeAndre Hopkins.

Brock played in place of No. 3 corner Nnamdi Asomugha, who was out with a knee injury. He appears likely to keep the job even when Asomugha returns.
