49ers announce inactives for Week 7 vs. Broncos

(10/19/2014) The 49ers have listed the following players as inactive for Sunday night's Week 7 matchup against the Broncos: cornerback Chris Culliver (shoulder), guard Mike Iupati (concussion), linebacker Patrick Willis (toe), safety Jimmie Ward (quad), center Marcus Martin, wide receiver Quinton Patton and defensive end Tank Carradine.

Culliver and Ward received questionable designations on the team's final injury report, while Willis was already listed as out. Cornerback Tramaine Brock (toe) and tackle Anthony Davis (knee, ankle) are active after being listed as questionable.

Wide receiver Steve Johnson (hip) and tight end Vernon Davis (back) head the list of players who were listed as probable that are active in Week 7, a list that also includes cornerbacks Chris Cook (quad) and Perrish Cox (quad) as well as defensive linemen Justin Smith (not injury related), Ian Williams (ankle, shoulder) and Tony Jerod-Eddie (shoulder).

(10/17/2014) The 49ers listed 13 players on its final injury report Friday leading up to Week 7 at Denver. linebacker Patrick Willis (toe) and guard Mike Iupati (concussion) were the only two players ruled out on the report.

Meanwhile, cornerback Tramaine Brock (toe), cornerback Chris Culliver (shoulder), tackle Anthony Davis (knee, ankle) and defensive back Jimmie Ward (quadriceps) were all labeled questionable for Sunday.

The following players were ruled probable: Cornerback Chris Cook (quadriceps), cornerback Perrish Cox (quadriceps), tight end Vernon Davis (back), wide receiver Steve Johnson (hip), defensive end Tony Jerod-Eddie (shoulder), defensive tackle Ian Williams (ankle) and defensive end Justin Smith (not injury related).

Deemed questionable were safety Antoine Bethea (ankle), cornerback Tramaine Brock (toe), tackle Anthony Davis (hamstring), tight end Vernon Davis (ankle, knee) and tight end Vance McDonald (knee).

Nickel corner Jimmie Ward suffered a head injury, but it was determined he does not have a concussion. He's expected to play.

San Francisco cornerback Tramaine Brock was carted off the field Week 1 against the Cowboys.

The team announced Brock has a toe injury, and is questionable to return. He had an ankle injury early in the preseason, but was not listed on the injury report this week.

(12/24/2013) The 49ers DST buckled down when it mattered the most. With Atlanta threatening to tie or pull ahead with just over a minute left, linebacker NaVorro Bowman intercepted a deflected Matt Ryan pass and returned it 89 yards for the clinching touchdown.

On the play, cornerback Tramaine Brock blanketed receiver Harry Douglas and knocked the ball up in the air. Brock got his own interception on the game's final play, snagging a Hail Mary in the end zone. 

San Francisco finished with those two interceptions and got a sack from defensive tackle Justin Smith. Thus the 49ers came through for Fantasy owners despite giving up 402 yards.

The 49ers DST visits Arizona in Week 17.


Tramaine Brock earns extension in advance of first start

(11/22/2013) 49ers defensive back Tramaine Brock is set to make his first career start Monday against the Redskins, and the team appears to view him as a long-term answer. CSNBayArea.com reports he has agreed to a four-year contract extension Friday, worth up to $16 million, $7 million of which is guaranteed.

Brock has emerged as a contributor for the 49ers after being an undrafted free agent, and will start in Week 12 in place of Tarell Brown (ribs).

(10/21/2013) 49ers cornerback Tramaine Brock made his third interception in the Week 7 win over Tennessee, and he had two passes defended. Brock is tied for sixth in the NFL in interceptions despite starting the season as San Francisco's No. 4 corner.

(10/7/2013) 49ers cornerback Tramaine Brock, who had two interceptions in his first three seasons, matched that total in the win over Houston.

Brock picked off Matt Schaub on the third play of the game, returning it 18 yards for a touchdown. He intercepted Schaub on another out route in the second quarter, this time deflecting the ball to himself.

On both picks Brock was covering Andre Johnson, who pulled him down from behind the second time. Brock later drew a pass-interference flag on DeAndre Hopkins.

Brock played in place of No. 3 corner Nnamdi Asomugha, who was out with a knee injury. He appears likely to keep the job even when Asomugha returns.
