Broncos LB Von Miller says new diet is helping weight loss

by Sean d'Oliveira | CBSSports.com
(4/15/2015) Broncos linebacker Von Miller has changed his diet during the offseason and he said it's starting to pay off, reports The Denver Post.

"Sometimes you just have to step away from the burgers and stuff," Miller said. "It might not be hurting you, but it's definitely not helping you."

As a result of the diet changes, Miller said he's gone from 252 pounds last season to 242 pounds.

"I was in pretty good shape last year, but going to another level, it's always about how far you push yourself," Miller said. "I definitely feel like I'm in better shape than I was coming in to [organized team activities], and I'll be in even better shape coming into training camp."

Wade Phillips wants Broncos to be more aggressive

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(2/16/2015) Broncos defensive coordinator Wade Phillips is hoping to run a more aggressive defense in 2015, according to ESPN.

"We're aggressive," Phillips said. "Defensive players, they’re aggressive by nature. I think you take something away from them when you don’t let them be." Phillips clarified that he won't necessarily get blitz-happy, but said he would have an "attack defense. That’s the way players like to play," Phillips said. "You get the best results out of that and I think you play the best that way so we’ll be that way."

Phillips' strategy should be a welcome addition in Denver. Former defensive coordinator Jack Del Rio was often criticized for the team's lack of aggression on defense. Phillips already has the support of Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware.

"This defense has the players to do it, we need just to get in the lab and figure out how to be better," Miller said. "Because we had moments where we showed what we can do, but we didn’t do it enough, myself included, I know that."

Ware added, "we feel like there’s more we can do. We want every play to be hard on the quarterback."

Von Miller: Peyton Manning likely to return in 2015

by Jason Butt | CBSSports.com
(2/6/2015) Broncos linebacker Von Miller is in the camp that believes quarterback Peyton Manning will return to the Broncos for the 2015 season.

"We can win a championship with Peyton," Miller told The Denver Post. "I think that's the only thing that matters," Miller said. "What else can I say? I think he's coming back. He said a long time ago that he would stop playing football when he felt like he was hurting a team more than helping a team. There's still so much he can do, so many wonderful things he can do for the Denver Broncos."

Manning, 38, has been contemplating his future this since Denver's season ended in the divisional round of the playoffs against the Colts. On Monday, the NFL Network's Gil Brandt reported that Manning would "almost certainly" be back with the Broncos for another season.

Manning threw for 4,727 yards and 39 touchdowns in 2014.

DeMarcus Ware, Von Miller lead Broncos' Week 7 sack parade

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(10/20/2014) The Broncos defense racked up six sacks in Week 7's 42-17 blowout win over the 49ers, with defensive end DeMarcus Ware leading the team with three sacks.

Linebacker Von Miller added two sacks in the win as the Broncos pass rush abused a shorthanded 49ers offensive line that was struck by injuries to two centers in the game. Miller leads the league with eight sacks on the season in only six games, while Ware is right behind him with seven. The dangerous pass rush will square off with the Chargers on Thursday.

Scary thought for QBs: Broncos LB Von Miller sans knee brace

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10/17/2014) The knee brace worn by standout Broncos linebacker Von Miller since he underwent surgery in January is gone, according to teammate and defensive end DeMarcus Ware.

"I think that really shows that he's 100 percent, he's ready to go and he's getting pressure on the quarterback," Ware told the Denver Post.

Miller has six sacks in the first five games to rank third in the NFL. He has four in the last two games combined.

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10/12/2014) Broncos linebacker Von Miller was the leading contributor to a strong defensive effort Sunday in a defeat of the host Jets.

Miller racked up six tackles, including two of the team's four sacks. He had four hits on quarterback Geno Smith and added one pass defensed.

His return has been announced as questionable.

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

Broncos issue Friday injury report

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(9/19/2014) Linebacker Danny Trevathan (knee) is the lone questionable player on the Friday injury report released Friday by the Broncos for their Sunday game against Seattle.

Fellow linebacker Lerentee McCray (knee) is the lone Bronco ruled out. Listed as probable are cornerback Chris Harris (knee), kicker Brandon McManus (groin), linebacker Von Miller (groin) and guard Ben Garland (ankle).

Von Miller notches sack in Week 2 win vs. Chiefs

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(9/14/2014) Broncos linebacker Von Miller racked up seven total tackles and a sack in his team's 24-17 win over the Chiefs in Week 2.

Miller was held to just one tackle and no sacks in the season opener but fared better Sunday. Unfortunately, he did leave the game with a groin injury in the second half, according to the Denver Post. Miller may be limited in practice this week depending on the extent of the injury. The Broncos travel to Seattle in Week 3 for a Super Bowl rematch.

Wait another week on Broncos DST

by Larry Hartstein | Senior Analyst
(9/2/2014) The Broncos revamped their defense after ranking 22nd in points allowed (22.9) and 19th in total yards (356.0).

They added defensive end DeMarcus Ware, safety T.J. Ward and cornerback Aqib Talib. They drafted corner Bradley Roby in the first round. And they'll benefit from Von Miller being in better shape.

Last year's No. 13 Fantasy DST should finish as a Top-10 unit this year. But the group might not mesh right away. And Sunday night's game against the Colts, with a whopping over/under of 55, is going to be a shootout.

Indy gave up the 11th-fewest Fantasy points to DSTs last year (7.56 per game). Sit the Broncos DST in Week 1, if you can, then start the unit Week 2 in a much more attractive matchup against Kansas City.

Von Miller expected to make return Saturday

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8/23/2014) Broncos linebacker Von Miller should make his preseason debut Saturday against the Texans, almost exactly eight months to the day since he tore his ACL, the Denver Post reports.

"I've had a lot of practice at full speed," Miller said. "And with all the practicing here with the Texans, I think it will help make the game seem a little easier. I'm excited."

The Broncos have been practicing with the Texans in recent weeks. Miller is expected to be ready for the start of the regular season, and Saturday could be the only tuneup he needs, with just one preseason game left.

Von Miller progressing well, could play in preseason

by Larry Hartstein | Senior Analyst
(7/30/2014) Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller, who tore his ACL in Week 16, is progressing well and it's "more than realistic that he could play in the preseason," according to the team's website. Miller went through individual drills and some 7-on-7 work in the first week of camp

"I’m in a great spot," Miller said. "Recovering from an ACL is nothing -- I’m out here playing the game I love and I’m feeling great."

Miller did post-practice sprints Monday and was near the front of the pack, the report said. His knee brace does not seem to be holding him back.

"I try not to let my brace be an excuse or a reason why not to do something," Miller said. "It’s the brace, it’s what I’ve got to wear. I feel like I can play football without shoulder pads, but I’m not going to let wearing shoulder pads have me out there like, ‘Man, I can’t play football today.' So having the brace on is just part of it. It’s what I’ve got to do."

No contact for Von Miller until 3rd preseason game at earliest

by Larry Hartstein | Senior Analyst
(7/23/2014) Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller will be held out of contact until at least the third preseason game, reports the Denver Post. But Miller isn't starting training camp on the PUP list.

Miller is rehabbing from a torn ACL he suffered Week 16.

Von Miller not pushing it yet

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(6/12/2014) Broncos linebacker Von Miller, who is coming back from last year's torn ACL, is not pushing himself just yet in his rehab.

He said there is no date yet when he can go full strength on his injured knee.

"I've got a checkup coming up in a couple of weeks. I'll go back down to Dr. (James) Andrews and see what he says about it," Miller said. "Just keep on working. I'm really not in a rush. I've still got three months until September 1 or whenever our first game is. So I'm feeling great about the process and I'm excited to be here."

Miller injured his knee during Week 16 last season.

Von Miller feeling good in ACL recovery

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(6/4/2014) Broncos linebacker Von Miller, who is coming back from last year's torn ACL, said Wednesday his recovery is going well.

"I feel good," Miller said. "I don't think [there is] a schedule to have. You want to meet checkpoints and be able to do stuff at certain points of your recovery. But I'm feeling good. Every day I come in feeling good. It's not swelling up on me or anything like that. It just feels great."

Broncos pick up option for Von Miller

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(5/1/2014) The Broncos have decided to pick up the fifth-year team option for linebacker Von Miller in 2015, the Denver Post reports.

The option would pay Miller a $9.754 million salary in 2015. That salary is guaranteed against injury, but not for skill or salary cap. In other words, the Broncos would reserve the right to release Miller if they don't feel he's worth the money.

Miller is coming back from last year's torn ACL suffered in Week 16.

Von Miller says he's feeling good

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(4/14/2014) Broncos linebacker Von Miller says his rehab from a torn ACL is going along well, but that he's in no hurry to get back on the field

"I'm feeling good, I had a schedule that's all I can ask for," Miller told ESPN. "I'm not going to rush it, I've got good training guys with the Broncos, they're going to have me back in time ready to go. With today's medicine and what's going on now like ACL, it's really not as serious as it used to be. I'm 100 percent positive I'll be able to come back not only be the same Von, (but) I got to be better. You come back and be the same guy it's like you go 'it's the same Von again' and I got to be better."

Broncos hoping for maturation from Von Miller

by Larry Hartstein | Senior Analyst
(2/24/2014) The Broncos want to see "maturation" from outside linebacker Von Miller, who's entering the final year of his rookie deal, reports ESPN.com.

“That’s what you hope with any player year to year," coach John Fox told the website. "We have a lot of resources, a lot of people working very hard, whether it’s medically, spiritually, whatever, in that building … You’re looking for growth, that’s what you do. You find the best human talent and motivate them to get better. That’s really what we do.

Added Fox: “He’s a good kid, but sometimes, at least in the past, some things have popped up … I’m not going to sit here and guarantee anything.’’

Miller was suspended for the first six games of 2013 for a substance abuse violation. He might not be full speed for the start of this season as he recovers from a torn ACL suffered Week 16.

Von Miller might not be full speed by season opener

by Larry Hartstein | Senior Analyst
(2/5/2014) Broncos top pass rusher Von Miller, who tore the ACL in his right knee in December, "won't be ready for training camp and may not be full speed by the start of the regular season," reports ESPN.com. The website called Miller's season, which didn't begin until Week 7 due to suspension, the Broncos' biggest disappointment of 2013.

Broncos must improve pass rush

by Larry Hartstein | Senior Analyst
(2/3/2014) In their last three playoff exits, the Broncos have generated almost zero pass rush, reports ESPN.com. Denver has one sack total in those losses to the Patriots (2011), Ravens (2012) and Seahawks.

In the 43-8 Super Bowl loss to Seattle, the Broncos hit quarterback Russell Wilson once in the first 2 1/2 quarters.

It didn't help that the Broncos played without their best pass rusher, outside linebacker Von Miller. Regardless, the Broncos "will have to give a long look toward addressing a defensive issue that has been a big part of their last three playoff losses," the report said.

Von Miller surgery pushed back to Thursday

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(1/8/2014) The ACL surgery for Broncos linebacker Von Miller will be performed on Thursday, according to the Denver Post. It had originally been scheduled for Wednesday. Dr. James Andrews will perform the surgery in Florida.

Von Miller to have ACL surgery Wednesday

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(1/7/2014) Broncos linebacker Von Miller is set to have ACL surgery Wednesday.

Miller played in just nine games this season due to a suspension at the beginning of the year. He tore his ACL during Week 15 against Houston. It's unclear how long Miller will be kept out as he rehabs.

Broncos make moves at linebacker

by Larry Hartstein | Senior Analyst
(12/24/2013) The Broncos promoted linebacker Brandon Marshall from the practice squad to fill the roster spot vacated by linebacker Von Miller, who went on injured reserve with a torn ACL.
