49ers part ways with Jon Baldwin

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(8/3/2014) The 49ers have waived wide receiver Jon Baldwin on Sunday, according to the Sacramento Bee. Baldwin was traded from Kansas City a few weeks before the start of the 2013 season. He played in seven games for the 49ers, catching three passes for 28 yards and no touchdowns.

How Lloyd's signing impacts 49ers' receiving corps

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(4/15/2014) The 49ers signed Brandon Lloyd on Tuesday, which should impact Kassim Osgood and Jon Baldwin but not matter much to Quinton Patton, reports ESPN.

The 49ers are locked in with their top two receivers in Michael Crabtree and Anquan Boldin, and Patton is expected to be No. 3 on the depth chart. After that, the 49ers are wide open, and Lloyd could be No. 4 ahead of Baldwin and Osgood.

The report says if Lloyd makes the team Baldwin will likely be out. The team re-signed Osgood this offseason because he is a huge part of the special teams. But the 49ers will likely not keep more than six receivers.

Patton, who finished the season strong in 2013 as a rookie, should have time to develop as the No. 3 option. The 49ers are also expected to take a wide receiver in the draft.

Jon Baldwin takes a pay cut

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(2/20/2014) 49ers receiver Jon Baldwin has agreed to a pay cut, reports ESPN.com. His base salary dropped from $1.4 million to $645,000, though he'll be eligible to make $755,000 in incentives.

Baldwin played in seven games last season, making three catches for 28 yards.

Jon Baldwin still costing Chiefs

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(2/13/2014) Receiver Jon Baldwin was a bust with the Chiefs, and they still keep paying for their error even though he was traded to the 49ers last season for A.J. Jenkins, reports ESPN.

Baldwin will count almost $1 million against the Chiefs' salary cap this season because of bonuses the Chiefs gave to Baldwin when he played in Kansas City.

Baldwin, in two seasons with the Chiefs, caught 41 passes for 579 yards and two touchdowns. He played in seven games for the 49ers in 2013, catching three passes for 28 yards and no touchdowns.

Jon Baldwin working on rapport with quarterback

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(10/3/2013) With 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Greg Roman hinting at a bigger role for wide receiver Jon Baldwin, the 2011 first-round pick spent extra time over the weekend catching passes from quarterback Colin Kaepernick.

"I’m just trying to get on the same page with Colin and do all the things he needs me to do to get on the field," Baldwin said, per the team's official website. "Not being able to get those throws with him, after practice was the most time for me to get opportunity to get some throws with him. It was a good thing to do."

Baldwin said his extra practice time with Kaepernick has led to an increased role on offense.

"We try to work on the plays I’ll be running instead of going out there and running a general route tree," Baldwin said. "He trusts in me and believes in me because we’ve drilled those routes after practice and also during practice."
