Zach Brown moving to the middle of Titans defense

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(4/29/2014) The Titans are planning to move linebacker Zach Brown to the middle of their 3-4 defense after struggling as an outside linebacker last season, the Tennessean reports. Brown has posted at least 90 total tackles in each of the last two seasons. Even though he has at least four sacks in each of his two NFL seasons he should serve as a more consistent player on the inside rather than rushing the passer.

Titans in great shape as they prepare for Texans

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(12/27/2013) The Titans are quite healthy heading into their season finale against visiting Houston. Only three players appear on their Friday injury report, including defensive tackle Jurrell Casey (knee) and tackle David Stewart (shoulder), who are both questionable. Since neither practiced all week, it has been speculated that they are unlikely to play.

More likely to play is linebacker Zach Brown (illness), who is probable.

Usual standouts do little for Titans

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(12/23/2013) Titans defensive back Bernard Pollard, defensive back Alterraun Verner, linebacker Zach Brown and defensive lineman Jurrell Casey, who are normally among the team's top defensive performers, contributed little statistically Week 16 at Jacksonville.

Pollard had five tackles, all solo. Verner had three tackles, all solo. Brown had four tackles, all solo. Casey didn't record a single tackle.

Of the four, Pollard is the most consistent tackler, averaging 6.2 in 15 games. The others are dependent on either interceptions or sacks for their production.

Mike Munchak places Zach Brown in his dog house

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(12/18/2013) Titans linebacker Zach Brown does not seem to be on the same page as Mike Munchak.

Brown was upset by his benching Sunday against Arizona after playing just six snaps. He will likely not start in Week 16 against Jacksonville despite being second on the team with 104 tackles and adding four sacks.

Munchak said he had higher expectations for Brown. That came as a surprise to Brown, who offered that no coach has told him what he needs to do to improve. Brown said he suspects that he has been benched for freelancing too much.

"I was doing what they asked me to do, but at the same time, you've got to go make a play and I guess they didn't like that," Brown told The Tennesseean. "So for me, I'm thinking 'What you want me to do?' ... I'm not a robot. If you look at all the good players, they all take chances."

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(11/24/2013) Titans linebacker Zach Brown came down with his first interceptions of the season during Sunday’s contest against the Raiders in Week 12.

Titans defenders give team effort Week 3

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/23/2013) The Titans defense shut out the Chargers in the fourth quarter Sunday, allowing the offense to stage a 20-17 comeback win. While the defensive unit played well as a team, there weren't a lot of standout statistical performers for the Titans Week 3.

Safety Michael Griffin had a team-high nine tackles (seven solo). Linebacker Moise Fokou also had seven solo tackles and finished with eight tackles. Safety Bernard Pollard had six tackles (four solo).

Cornerback Alterraun Verner managed four solo tackles, one pass defense and one fumble recovery, while linebacker Zach Brown had his worst game of the season, finishing with one solo tackle.

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com

Zach Brown, Jurrell Casey no longer flying under the radar

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/12/2013) Titans linebacker Zach Brown and defensive lineman Jurrell Casey were a force in Week 1 against the Steelers, with each player recording two sacks. Both players continue to build off successful 2012 seasons and are no longer flying under the radar.

"When you turn the film on week in and week out, even last year, there’s guys that you see and you realize these guys are good football players," coach Mike Munchak said, per The Tennessean. "I think Jurrell Casey has been good for the last three years. Last year he was injured, so he didn’t have as many big plays. (Brown) just continues to get better. I think he’s understanding the game. He understands how he can affect the game. When you’re a guy his size who can run like he does … he’s a tough matchup."
