by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(8/29/2014) 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters that quarterback Blaine Gabbert had X-rays on his right shoulder, which came back negative.

Gabbert worked five drives in the first half before leaving the game. He is competing with Josh Johnson for the No. 2 job behind Colin Kaepernick. Harbaugh indicated that he would like three quarterbacks on the 53-man active roster.

Blaine Gabbert will remain the No. 2 quarterback vs. Denver

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
(8/15/2014) 49ers head coach Jim Harbaugh told reporters there's no shakeup planned in the quarterback order for Sunday's preseason game in Denver, according to the Sacramento Bee.

Blaine Gabbert will remain the No. 2 quarterback behind Colin Kaepernick. Gabbert played all but the opening series in the first half and showed some struggles.  He completed 3 of 11 pass attempts for 20 yards, with no touchdowns and one interception.

Jaguars trade QB Blaine Gabbert to 49ers for late draft pick

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(3/11/2014) The Jaguars traded quarterback Blaine Gabbert to the 49ers in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported.

Gabbert, a former first-round pick of Jacksonville's, couldn't hold on to the starting job in each of his last two seasons with the Jags. Over 28 games he completed 53.3 pct. of his passes for 4,357 yards with 22 touchdowns and 24 interceptions.

Jaguars unsure about Blaine Gabbert

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(12/31/2013) The Jaguars aren't sure what to do with quarterback Blaine Gabbert.

General manager Dave Caldwell said he wouldn't mind bringing Gabbert back. At the very least, Caldwell said, Gabbert could be an above-average backup. However, he also said the team could re-sign Chad Henne. If the team re-signs Henne and drafts a quarterback with the third pick, Gabbert would likely not return. Gabbert started three games this season.

Blaine Gabbert wants to compete for Jaguars' QB job in 2014

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(12/30/2013) Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert said Monday he wants to return to the team and compete for the starting quarterback job in 2014.

Gabbert lost his starting job to Chad Henne after dealing with some injuries early in the season. He made three starts -- all losses -- completing 48.8 percent of his passes (42 of 86) for 481 yards, one touchdown and seven interceptions.

Blaine Gabbert active on bench

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(10/27/2013) Jaguars backup quarterback Blaine Gabbert is active for the Week 8 game in London against San Francisco. That said, Gabbert will back up Chad Henne in the game.

Gabbert has struggled mightily between injuries this season, completing just 49 percent of his passes with one touchdown and seven interceptions.

Blaine Gabbert back, but benched as Chad Henne named starter

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10/23/2013) Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert has returned to the practice field, but not to the starting lineup. Gus Bradley has announced that Chad Henne will keep that job.

Henne has thrown for 621 yards in the last two games combined, but no touchdowns. The winless Jaguars scored just six points Sunday against San Diego.

Gabbert has struggled mightily between injuries this season, completing just 49 percent of his passes with one touchdown and seven interceptions. His official benching could threaten his long-term position with the team.

Report: Blaine Gabbert cleared to practice in full

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(10/23/2013) Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert, who has missed the last two games with a hamstring injury, has been cleared to practice in full, according to The Florida Times-Union. The Jaguars haven't named a starting quarterback for Week 8 vs. San Francisco, but it could happen Wednesday once coach Gus Bradley arrives in London, where the game is being played.

Jaguars list expected inactive players

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(10/20/2013) The Jaguars had several players ruled out for Sunday's Week 7 game at home against San Diego by Friday on the official injury report. Wide receivers Ace Sanders (concussion) and Stephen Burton (concussion) are both inactive, as expected for the game. Also inactive are defensive end Jeremy Mincey (concussion) and quarterback Blaine Gabbert (hamstring).

Jaguars release Friday injury report

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10/18/2013) Wide receivers dominated the Jaguars injury report for Friday. Top wideouts Justin Blackmon (hamstring) and Cecil Shorts (shoulder) are listed as questionable for Sunday against San Diego while Ace Sanders (concussion) and Stephen Burton (concussion) are out.

Also out are defensive end Jeremy Mincey (concussion) and quarterback Blaine Gabbert (hamstring). Cornerback Dwayne Gratz (ankle) and safety Johnathan Cyprien (calf) are questionable.

Blaine Gabbert improving in practice

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(10/16/2013) Though he is not expected to play in Week 7 against the Chargers, Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert is clearly making progress with his hamstring injury. Gabbert was a limited participant in practice Wednesday.

Blaine Gabbert to sit out again Week 7

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(10/14/2013) Jaguars coach Gus Bradley said Monday quarterback Blaine Gabbert isn't ready to return from a hamstring injury, so Chad Henne will start again Week 7 vs. San Diego. Bradley added, however, Gabbert might throw on the side in practice this week.

Blaine Gabbert inactive Week 6

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(10/13/2013) Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert is inactive for Week 6 against the Broncos.

The move isn't a surprise, as Gabbert was ruled out on the team's final injury report. He'll be replaced by Chad Henne again.

Jaguars rule out five for Week 6

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(10/11/2013) Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert (hamstring) is one of five players already officially ruled out for Week 6 against the Broncos, based on Friday's injury report. He is joined by wide receiver Stephen Burton (concussion), tight end Marcedes Lewis (calf), defensive back Dwayne Gratz (ankle) and defensive lineman Jeremy Mincey (concussion).

Blaine Gabbert considered week to week

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(10/7/2013) Jaguars coach Gus Bradley announced Monday quarterback Blaine Gabbert is expected to sit out Week 6 at Denver after suffering a hamstring strain Week 5 at St. Louis. Bradley said Gabbert, who will be replaced by Chad Henne, is week to week.

Report: Blaine Gabbert could be out extended period

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(10/7/2013) Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert could be out an extended period of time after hurting his hamstring Week 5 at St. Louis, according to NFL.com. A source said he heard Gabbert's hamstring pop during Sunday's loss.

Blaine Gabbert to start over Chad Henne if healthy

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(10/6/2013) Jaguars quarterback Chad Henne had to relieve starter Blaine Gabbert during Sunday's Week 5 loss at St. Louis. That said, Gus Bradley said following the game that Gabbert would remain the starting QB going forward as long as he's healthy, the team's official site reports.

Henne finished out the loss by going 7 for 13 for 89 yards with a 4-yard touchdown pass to Cecil Shorts in the fourth quarter. He had a QB rating of 101.1 in the game. Henne also rushed once for 2 yards.

Gabbert finished 9 of 19 for 181 yards and a touchdown with two interceptions. The Jaguars play at Denver Week 6.

Blaine Gabbert leaves with hamstring injury

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(10/6/2013) Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert had to leave Sunday's Week 5 game at St. Louis early in the second half due to a hamstring injury. Gabbert was injured in the first half when he hurt his hand, but remained in the game at that time. He was replaced by Chad Henne.

Gabbert went 9 for 19 for 181 yards and a long 67-yard touchdown to Justin Blackmon in the first quarter. He was also picked off twice in the game, including once in the red zone.

Gabbert, who added three rushes for 6 yards, threw his first touchdown pass of the season on that long play to Blackmon. Still, he has seven picks and may not get back on the field once healthy if Henne impresses the coaching staff.

Improvement coming for Blaine Gabbert

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(10/1/2013) Jacksonville quarterback Blaine Gabbert should show improvement in his Week 5 road test at St. Louis Sunday. Mostly that is because he couldn't get much worse after two games. Missing Weeks 2 and 3 due to hand injury, Gabbert has totaled 300 passing yards in two games with no touchdowns and five interceptions for the Jaguars.

We believe that Gabbert will make an improvement against the Rams considering St. Louis has only intercepted one pass this entire season and that came back in Week 1 against Carson Palmer and Arizona. They have given up seven touchdowns and no interceptions in the last three games against Matt Ryan, Tony Romo and Colin Kaepernick.

All that said, Gabbert is not nearly as efficient as any of the four quarterbacks that have squared off against the Rams to this point. St. Louis' secondary will be hawking his passes all afternoon. He may show improvement, but he's still not expected to put up big numbers. Gabbert is barely recommended for any Fantasy formats for Week 5. At best he can be considered a low-end No. 2 option in deeper leagues.

Coach's confidence in Blaine Gabbert getting 'stronger'

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/30/2013) Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert had an awful return to the lineup Sunday against the Colts after missing two games with a hand injury. Gabbert completed 17 of 32 passes for 179 yards and three interceptions.

Gabbert has no touchdowns and five interceptions through two games. Yet, he continues to have the backing of his head coach. Gus Bradley said Monday his confidence is "stronger" in Gabbert after watching tape of Sunday's loss vs. Indianapolis.

Blaine Gabbert the same as always

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(9/29/2013) Despite all the talk of simplifying the game plan to give him more freedom, Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert looked as uncomfortable as ever Week 4 against the Colts. Returning to the lineup after missing two games with a laceration in his throwing hand, he completed 17 of 32 passes for 179 yards and three interceptions.

Granted, he didn't get much help. His second pass of the game was a well-placed deep ball that deflected off the hands of intended receiver Cecil Shorts and into the arms of defender Vontae Davis. In fact, all three of his interceptions were balls his wide receiver probably should have caught.

But it's not like he was lighting up the scoreboard in between. He struggled with the Colts' pass rush, getting sacked four times and anticipating pressure when there was none, which led to him scrambling out of the pocket and throwing off balance. Coach Gus Bradley gave Gabbert a vote of confidence after the game, though, telling the team's official website he deserves a longer look.

"I'm staying strong with Blaine," he said.

Gabbert has now thrown for less than 200 yards in eight of his last 11 starts. He and the Jaguars will visit the Rams in Week 5.

Blaine Gabbert officially a go for Week 4

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(9/29/2013) As expected, Jaguars quarterback Blaine Gabbert is active for Week 4 against the Colts after missing the last two games with a laceration in his throwing hand.

Coach Gus Bradley announced Gabbert would be returning to the starting lineup earlier in the week. The third-year quarterback was able to practice in full leading up to the game.

Blaine Gabbert all but ready to roll into Week 4

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(9/27/2013) Jaguars starting quarterback Blaine Gabbert should play Sunday against the Colts. He is listed as probable with a hand injury. The designation comes as no surprise. He has been a full practice participant throughout the week.

Gabbert has not played since a discouraging performance in a Week 1 loss to Kansas City in which he completed just 16 of 35 passes for 121 yards and two interceptions.

Blaine Gabbert looking to cut loose

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(9/24/2013) One thing Jaguars coach Gus Bradley wants to see from quarterback Blaine Gabbert in his return to the starting lineup Week 4 against the Colts is a willingness to improvise. He talked with the Florida Times-Union Monday about simplifying the game plan to allow Gabbert more freedom.

"He really wants to please [offensive coordinator] Jedd Fisch, he really wants to please us and he really wants to please the players," Bradley said. "I think when you do that, you might not take as many risks because he doesn't want to let anybody down. I think we have to change the mindset to say it's OK, don't worry about us, we'll be fine. The way you please us is to go out and let loose and take some risks and to do those things and play with some more freedom."

Unfortunately, no amount of freedom figures to do him much good against the Colts, who limited Colin Kaepernick and the 49ers to seven points on 254 yards just last week. The Colts have allowed the eighth-fewest Fantasy points to quarterbacks this season, and none of them played for teams averaging just 9.3 points per game.

Needless to say, even with the 15-stitch gash in his throwing hand now healed, Gabbert is an inadvisable Fantasy option.

Blaine Gabbert returning to lineup Week 4

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/23/2013) After Blaine Gabbert missed two games due to a hand injury, Jaguars coach Gus Bradley announced Monday the third-year quarterback will return to the starting lineup Week 4 vs. Indianapolis.

"We feel good about him going into this week," Bradley said.
