Chargers to have their questionable players Week 5

Dwight Freeney, David Johnson and Corey Liuget are all active for the contest. All three entered the week considered questionable, but will attempt to play. 


Chargers release final Week 5 injury report

(10/3/2014) The Chargers listed three players as questionable to play in Week 5 on Friday's final injury report, including linebacker Dwight Freeney (knee), defensive tackle Corey Liuget (concussion) and tight end David Johnson (shoudler).

Freeney didn't practice Thursday but was able to work in limited fashion on Wednesday and Friday. Johnson and Liuget returned to a full practice Friday.

The Chargers listed five players as probable to face the Jets in Week 5, including tight end Ladarius Green (hamstring), cornerback Jason Verrett (hamstring) and linebackers Donald Butler (shoulder), Jarret Johnson (shoulder) and Cordarro Law (ankle).

The following players have been ruled out for Week 5 action: running back Ryan Mathews (knee), offensive lineman Rich Ohrnberger (back), cornerback Shareece Wright (knee) and linebackers Manti Te'o (foot), Jeremiah Attaochu (hamstring) and Reggie Walker (ankle).


Chargers DE Corey Liuget limited, but practicing Thursday

(10/2/2014) Chargers defensive end Corey Liuget worked his back into practice on a limited basis Thursday after sustaining a concussion Sunday against Jacksonville. He could play in Week 5 when the team hosts the Jets.

Liuget has 15 tackles and 1 1/2 sacks in four games.


San Diego lists seven defensive players on Week 4 injury report

(9/26/2014) The Chargers have seven defensive players on the final injury report leading up to Week 4 against Jacksonville. As expected, linebacker Reggie Walker (ankle) and Manti Te'o (foot) were the only defensive players ruled out for Sunday.

Linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu, who didn't practice all week with a hamstring injury, was ruled doubtful. Cornerback Jason Verrett missed practice all week but was deemed questionable.

Meanwhile, cornerback Brandon Flowers (hip), safety Marcus Gilchrist (shoulder) and defensive tackle Corey Liuget (ankle) all worked through their respective injuries this week and were labeled probable for Sunday.

(9/19/2014) The Chargers have issued an extensive injury report for their Sunday game in Buffalo. Ruled out are running back Ryan Mathews (knee) and linebacker Melvin Ingram (hamstring).

Listed as questionable are safety Jahleel Addae (hamstring), wide receiver Keenan Allen (groin) and linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu (hamstring).

The probables are cornerbacks Chris Davis (ankle) and Brandon Flowers (groin), linebacker Dwight Freeney (non-injury related), tight end Antonio Gates (hamstring), defensive end Corey Liuget (ankle) and offensive lineman Rich Ohrnberger (back) and Johnnie Troutman (back).

Keenan Allen and Antonio Gates are active. They were both probable coming into the game. D.J. Fluker, Melvin Ingram, Sean Lissemore and Corey Liuget are also active for the contest.


Chargers list six from defense on injury report

(9/12/2014) The Chargers have six players from the defensive side of the ball on the injury report for Week 2 against the Seahawks, with two players already ruled out.

Defensive backs Chris Davis (ankle) and Jahleel Addae (hamstring) will both miss Sunday's game, after being forced to miss the entire week in practice.

Additionally, defensive back Brandon Flowers (groin) and linebacker Melvin Ingram (hamstring) are both questionable for the game, as they were both limited in practice. Defensive linemen Corey Liuget and Sean Lissemore are both probable with ankle injuries. 


Chargers DST shows promise

(9/9/2014) The Chargers DST showed big-play potential in Monday's 18-17 loss at Arizona.

Linebacker Jeremiah Attaochu blocked a punt and had a blindside strip-sack of Philip Rivers, with linebacker Dwight Freeney recovering. Safety Marcus Gilchrist jarred the ball loose from running back Andre Ellington, with linebacker Donald Butler recovering. Attaochu and defensive end Corey Liuget each finished with one sack.

The Chargers DST plays the Seahawks in Week 2.

Corey Liuget: I'm ready to roll for Sunday

Liuget, who has been nursing a right foot injury and wearing a protective boot, has played in all but one game for San Diego since 2011.

(8/9/2014) Chargers defensive lineman Corey Liuget, defensive back Brandon Flowers, and offensive lineman Chris Watt were all participants  in Saturday's practice, after sitting out Thursday's preseason opener.

Liuget worked out in both team and individual drills, while Watt was limited to individual drills. Flowers, who has been out since July 30 with an undisclosed injury, was limited to working out on a side field, according to U-T San Diego

(5/7/2014) Chargers defensive end Corey Liuget underwent offseason shoulder surgery for an injury he suffered last preseason, reports the San Diego Union-Tribune. Liuget did not miss a game despite the injury, recording 42 tackles and 5.5 sacks.

He expects to be ready for training camp.

(12/29/2013) The Chargers DST turned in an embarrassing performance Week 17, allowing 24 points and 332 total yards to the Chiefs' backups. San Diego did not force a turnover and mustered two sacks, one each by defensive ends Corey Liuget and Kendall Reyes.

San Diego allowed backup quarterback Chase Daniel, making his first career start, to post a 99.3 passer rating and run for 59 yards, too. The Chargers DST will try to redeem itself in the wild card game at Cincinnati next Sunday.


Johnny Patrick lone injured Chargers player inactive

(12/12/2013) Chargers defensive back Johnny Patrick (ankle) is the only player on the injured list unable to play in Thursday's game against the Broncos in Week 15.

Defensive linemen Lawrence Guy (toe), Sean Lissemore (toe) and Corey Liuget (knee) along with defensive back Shareece Wright (foot) and linebacker Jarret Johnson (hand) were all able to play through their issues.

The defensive players on that list are ends Corey Liuget (knee) and Lawrence Guy (toe), linebacker Jarret Johnson (hand), lineman Sean Lissemore (toe) and cornerback Shareece Wright (foot).

(10/21/2013) Chargers linebacker Larry English was one of four players to record a single sack on Sunday during the Week 7 win at Jacksonville. The other players to record one sack in the game were safety Jahleel Addae, linebacker Reggie Walker and defensive end Corey Liuget.

English now has 2 1/2 sacks this season to go with 14 tackles. The 26-year-old Walker has 22 tackles on the season and is now up to two sacks. Liuget, 23, is up to 18 tackles for the year for the San Diego defense and now has two sacks as well. San Diego has a bye Week 8 and returns Week 9 at Washington.

(10/18/2013) The Chargers released a long injury list on Friday, but the news wasn't that bad. Most of the players on it have been deemed probable for Sunday against the Jaguars.

They are running back Ronnie Brown (ankle), offensive lineman Jeromey Clary (clavicle), tackle D.J. Fluker (calf), defensive end Corey Liuget (shoulder), cornerback Richard Marshall (groin), cornerback Johnny Patrick (chest) and cornerback Shareece Wright (hamstring).

All were full participants in practice throughout the week but Clary and Brown, who were so on Thursday and Friday.
