Christian Ponder among Vikings Week 1 inactives

(9/7/2014) The Vikings have announced that the following players will be inactive for Sunday's game against the Rams: quarterback Christian Ponder, cornerback Shaun Prater, fullback Zach Line, lineback Michael Mauti, linebacker Brandon Watts, guard David Yankey and tight end MarQueis Gray.

Ponder is the team's third quarterback behind starter Matt Cassel and rookie first-round pick Teddy Bridgewater.

MarQueis Gray has two carries out of the wildcat

(12/15/2013) Browns tight end MarQueis Gray carried the ball twice in Sunday's 38-31 loss to the Bears, for 30 yards. Both runs came out of the wildcat in the third quarter, while the Browns were in the red zone. Edwin Baker finished off that drive with a two-yard rushing touchdown.

Gray now has five rushing attempts on the season. The 30 yards were a season high. 

The Browns play the Bears in Week 16. 


MarQueis Gray plays through injury

(12/13/2013) The Browns have listed six offensive players among their probables for the Sunday battle against the Bears, including premeir tackle Joe Thomas (back), backup quarterback Brandon Weeden (concussion) and top tight end Jordan Cameron (ribs).

The others are linemen Mitchell Schwartz (toe, knee) and Reid Fragel (illness) and tight end MarQueis Gray (hamstring).


Several Browns make minor contributions on Sunday

(12/8/2013) Many bit players had a role in the dramatic loss for the Browns at New England on Sunday. Among them were running backs Fozzy Whittaker and Chris Ogbonnaya, both of whom caught three passes and rushed four times. The former managed 18 yards receiving and 6 yards rushing. The latter had 25 yards through the air and 8 on the ground.

The leading rusher was Willis McGahee, who ran for 33 yards on 14 carries. Adding receptions were Greg Little (2-14), Davone Bess (1-10) and MarQueis Gray (1-3).


Browns linebacker duo among questionables for Sunday

(12/6/2013) Linebacker Craig Robertson was inactive the last two games with a knee injury, but he leads a short list of Browns listed as questionable for Sunday at New England and could make his return. The other questionables are fellow linebacker Tank Carder (shoulder) and tight end MarQueis Gray (hamstring).

Among the probables are linebacker Paul Kruger (finger), running back Willis McGahee (knee) and tackle Mitchell Schwartz (toe).

The probables are wide receiver Josh Cooper (illness), cornerback Buster Skrine (ribs), tackle Mitchell Schwartz (toe), running back Willis McGahee (knee), punter Spencer Lanning (knee) and linebacker Paul Kruger (finger).

The healthy scratches are offensive linemen Martin Wallace, Reid Fragel, Patrick Lewis and Garrett Gilkey.

(11/22/2013) The Browns are in good shape offensively as they prepare to host the visiting Steelers on Sunday. All but little-used tight end MarQueis Gray, who is out with a hamstring injury, are listed as probable.

The probables are running backs Fozzy Whittaker (ankle) and Willis McGahee (knee) and offensive linemen Jason Pinkston (ankle) and Mitchell Schwartz (toe). Punter Spencer Lanning (knee) has the same designation.

(11/3/2013) Minor contributions and one major one came from several Browns players Sunday. The major one was a 4-yard touchdown catch by tight end Gary Barnidge for his only reception. Running back Fozzy Whittaker showed some versatility by rushing for 11 yards on two carries and adding three catches for 13 yards.

Recently signed wideout Armanti Edwards  had a 10-yard catch while running back MarQueis Gray ran once for 1 yards. Backup quarterback Brandon Weeden entered when Jason Campbell was briefly removed with a rib injury and managed to complete one pass for minus-2 yards.


MarQueis Gray has first reception of the season in loss

(10/27/2013) Browns tight end MarQueis Gray caught the first pass of the day for the Browns on Sunday -- for five yards -- and was shut out the rest of the game. 

The reception was Gray's first of the season. He had just one target. 

The Browns return home in Week 9 to face the Ravens.  


Browns aided slightly by several offensive players

(10/20/2013) Several Browns contributed a bit to a meager offensive effort Sunday in Green Bay.

Among them were running backs Chris Ogbonnaya and Fozzy Whittaker. The former gained 15 yards on four carries while the latter added 11 yards on five attempts and two catches for 13 yards. MarQueis Gray lost two yards on one carry.

Also denting the scorebook through the air was Davone Bess with two catches for 11 yards.


Two tight ends dent scoresheet for Browns

(10/13/2013) A two-catch effort might not seem like much, but it represented a season high for Browns tight end Gary Barnidge in the defeat to Detroit on Sunday. He totaled six yards.

Another Browns tight end making a contribution was MarQueis Gray, who added a 10-yard run.
