Matt Shaugnessy returns to Arizona

(3/13/2014) Free agent linebacker Matt Shaughnessy will return to the Cardinals, after spending the 2013 season there. He has agreed to a two-year contract with the Cardinals, according to The Arizona Republic, just one day into free agency.

Shaughnessy put together a solid first season in Arizona, starting 12 of 16 games. He had 36 tackles and three sacks, while forcing one fumble, his first in three seasons.

(3/12/2014) Free agent defensive end Matt Shaughnessy is visiting the Patriots, reports ESPNBoston.com. He started 12 games last season for the Cardinals, posting 31 tackles and three sacks. He has 18.5 sacks since the Raiders drafted him in the third round in 2009.

Cardinals 'actively' trying to re-sign Matt Shaugnessy

(3/4/2014) The Cardinals are "actively trying to re-sign" outside linebacker Matt Shaughnessy, his agent, Rich Rosa, told the Arizona Republic. “He wants to be there, so we’ll see how it goes.”

Shaughnessy played in every game last season, recording 36 tackles, three sacks, a forced fumble and three fumble recoveries.

Housler has a groin injury, but practiced in full Thursday and Friday. Dockett is dealing with a shoulder issue.

Shaughnessy and Abraham were dealing with injuries throughout the week. Washington was listed with an illness. Massie was listed on the injury report, but it was not injury related.


Most on Cardinals injury report will probably play Sunday

(11/8/2013) Five of the nine players listed on the Cardinals injury report Friday are probable for the Week 10 game against Houston. They are linebacker John Abraham (shoulder), tackle Bobby Massie (not injury related), running back Rashard Mendenhall (toe), linebacker Matt Shaughnessy (knee) and linebacker Daryl Washington (illness).

Wide receiver Brittan Golden (hamstring) is out while tight end Rob Housler (groin), defensive end Frostee Rucker (calf) and tackle Bradley Sowell (illness) are questionable.

(10/27/2013) Cardinals G Daryn Colledge, DE Frostee Rucker and LB Matt Shaughnessy are active Week 8 against the Falcons. 

Colledge is dealing with a back injury. Rucker has been limited by a calf issue, and Shaughnessy has a knee injury.


Cardinals mostly healthy for Week 8 on defense

(10/25/2013) The Cardinals defensive is dealing with a number of injuries in Week 8, but they expected to have most of their key players available for Sunday's game against the Falcons. Among the five defensive players listed on the injury report, two are questionable for the game: defensive linemen Matt Shaughnessy (knee) and Frostee Rucker (calf).

Those two are joined on the injury report by linebacker Karlos Dansby (quadriceps) and defensive linemen Ronald Talley (wrist) and Alameda Ta'amu (hip), who are probable for the game. 


Matt Shaughnessy picks up first sack

(10/18/2013) Cardinals linebacker Matt Shaughnessy picked up his first sack of the season Thursday, in a 34-22 loss to the Seahawks in Week 7.

Shaugnessy finished the game with three solo tackles, one of which brought quarterback Russell Wilson down. He also forced and recovered a fumble in the game.
