Seahawks sign LB Bobby Wagner to contract extension

(8/2/2015) The Seahawks agreed to a contract extension with linebacker Bobby Wagner on Sunday, the team announced.

The extension is worth a reported $43 million with $22 million guaranteed over four years, according to the NFL.com. Wagner produced 104 tackles and two sacks in 11 games last season.

(8/2/2015) The Seahawks and All-Pro linebacker Bobby Wagner have agreed to terms on a contract extension, sources told Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.

Wagner -- a key piece in Seattle's dominant defense -- was slated to make just $1 million this upcoming season despite producing over 100 tackles per season three years in a row. He becomes the latest Seahawks player to agree to an extension this week, after quarterback Russell Wilson signed a contract on Friday.

Wagner recorded 104 tackles and two sacks in just 11 games for Seattle last season.

(7/23/2015) The Seahawks could sign middle linebacker Bobby Wagner to a new contract before training camp opens, according to NFL Media's Rand Getlin, who is claiming the two sides are making significant progress in negotiations.

Wagner is slated to make just $1 million this season in the final year of his rookie deal. He earned All-Pro honors in 2014 after a third consecutive season of contributing to more than 100 tackles despite playing in just 11 games.

The Seahawks are likely to consider a deal in that range, meaning something could happen in the near future with this. Wagner is entering the final year of his contract and is set to make just under $1 million this season. 

In 2014, Wagner totaled 104 tackles and two sacks.

(6/8/2015) The Seahawks have begun negotiations with linebacker Bobby Wagner on a contract extension, NFL.com reported. Wagner is scheduled to make $977,427 this year, the last season of his rookie contract. 

The team is still attempting to extend quarterback Russell Wilson, who will also complete his rookie contract. The two talks are somewhat related, since the team will only be able to tag one of the two players, if extensions aren't reached.

"I've heard nothing so until I get something to sign then I haven't heard nothing," Wagner said.

(1/20/2015) Colts safety Mike Adams and linebacker D'Qwell Jackson will replace Seahawks safety Earl Thomas and linebacker Bobby Wagner in the 2015 Pro Bowl.

Neither Thomas nor Wagner can participate in the game as both prepare to take on the Patriots in next week's Super Bowl. 

Jackson led Indianapolis with 140 tackles in 2014, including four sacks while Adams totaled 87 tackles and grabbed a team-high five interceptions.

Guard James Carpenter (ankle) is questionables while running back Marshawn Lynch (back), linebackers Bobby Wagner (toe) and Brock Coyle (glute), cornerback Byron Maxwell (calf) and guard J.R. Sweezy (thigh) are probable.

Wagner, who has missed the last five games with a toe injury, was on a tackle tear before going down. He averaged 10 per game through Week 6.

Marcus Burley (hamstring) was a limited participant in practice, while Byron Maxwell (calf) was a full participant Friday. Both were deemed questionable.

The following players were labeled probable: Russell Okung (calf), Doug Baldwin (groin), Max Unger (rest), O'Brien Schofield (head), Michael Bennett (toe), Marshawn Lynch (calf) and Jordan Hill (ankle).

There are no surprises in either designation. All those who are out did not practice this week. That group consists of fullback Derrick Coleman (foot), defensive tackle Jordan Hill (ankle), cornerback Byron Maxwell (calf), tight end Zach Miller (ankle), center Max Unger (foot), linebacker Bobby Wagner (toe) and wideout Bryan Walters (concussion).

The probables are defensive end Michael Bennett (toe), strong safety Kam Chancellor (ankle), cornerback Tharold Simon (ankle), running back Robert Turbin (shoulder) and tight end Luke Willson (groin).
