Five Eagles cleared for playoff game

(1/4/2014) The Eagles have ruled defensive back Earl Wolff (knee), linebacker Mychal Kendricks (knee), defensive back Brandon Boykin (hip), wide receiver Jason Avant (shoulder) and defensive back Colt Anderson (knee) active for Saturday's Wild Card playoff game against the Saints.

Wide receiver Jason Avant, cornerback Brandon Boykin and linebacker Mychal Kendricks should play against the Saints this weekend. Kendricks is dealing with a knee injury. Boykin has a hip issue. Avant has a shoulder injury.


Eagles DST comes up with three turnovers

(12/30/2013) The Eagles DST allowed 417 yards Week 17 at Dallas, but came up with three turnovers at critical times. Linebacker Mychal Kendricks and corner Brandon Boykin intercepted Kyle Orton, the second pick ending Dallas' last-ditch drive.

Earlier, cornerback Bradley Fletcher recovered a DeMarco Murray fumble to squelch a Cowboys' scoring chance. The Eagles held Dallas to 3.3 yards per carry. However, Philly came up with zero sacks.

The Eagles DST faces a tougher test in Saturday's playoff game when New Orleans comes calling.

All but Mathis practiced in full each day this week. Mathis did not practice Thursday, but returned in full by Friday. 


Eagles DST scores late to cap great night

(12/23/2013) The Eagles DST got a pick-6 in the fourth quarter when corner Brandon Boykin returned a Jay Cutler interception 54 yards. The touchdown highlighted one of the unit's top performances all year.

Playing with a lead the entire night, Philly held the potent Bears attack to 257 total yards and got five sacks and two takeaways. Linebacker Trent Cole had three sacks, linebacker Mychal Kendricks two. Cornerback Cary Williams recovered Devin Hester's fumble on a first-quarter kickoff return.

The Eagles DST heads to Dallas in Week 17 with momentum.

Both Goode and Smith are dealing with hamstring injuries. Kendricks and Wolff are trying to get over knee issues. Boykin has a concussion.

All three players were able to turn in a full practice Friday. Both Peters and Kendricks did not practice Wednesday and Thursday. Fletcher was limited early in the week, but showed improvement Friday.

Kendricks sustained the injury early in the first quarter and had to be helped off the field. He was taken back to the locker room for X-rays and has was ruled out for the remainder of the game.

(10/27/2013) Eagles linebacker Mychal Kendricks totaled a team-high 12 tackles, including a team-best 11 solo tackles during a 15-7 loss Week 8 vs. N.Y. Giants. Kendricks managed at least 10 tackles for the first time since the season opener.

Kendricks has totaled 56 tackles (46 solo) in eight games.

Mychal Kendricks becoming huge presence for Eagles

(9/12/2013) Linebacker Mychal Kendricks is becoming a force on defense for the Eagles. Kendricks had a standout performance in the opener against the Redskins, totaling 10 tackles and one fumble recovery.

"It feels good, especially when people are making plays -- big plays, at that -- in clutch situations," Kendricks said, per The Philadelphia Daily News. "It gives you hope, you know what I mean? It lets you know that the work we've been been putting in, it's going for something."

Kendricks was a strongside linebacker in the Eagles' old 4-3 scheme before being transitioned to an inside linebacker in the team's new 3-4 alignment. 

"Everything the coaches give us, I try to just give it to him in the simplest form, so we go out and play fast and just have fun out there together," Ryans said. "Mychal's a great player. He's made a tremendous jump from Year 1 to Year 2 . . . seeing everything around him, knowing what other guys are doing, he's just doing a much better job with that."
