Eagles acquire Kenjon Barner from Panthers

(8/19/2014) The Eagles acquired running back/return specialist Kenjon Barner from the Panthers Tuesday in exchange for a 2015 conditional seventh-round pick.

Barner was a potential cap casualty for the Panthers after seeing just six carries in his rookie season last year. A sixth-round pick in the 2013 draft, Barner played under Eagles coach Chip Kelly at Oregon.

With Jonathan Stewart sidelined early and the Panthers limiting DeAngelo Williams' reps, Barner "had a great opportunity to make a mark," the paper said. Barner caught a 5-yard pass at the end of the third quarter for his only grab of the afternoon. He was targeted twice in a 22-6 defeat.
