Raiders' Kenbrell Thompkins paces quiet receiving attack Week 11

by R.J. White | CBSSports.com
(11/16/2014) Raiders wide receiver Kenbrell Thompkins caught two of his three targets for a team-high 47 yards in his team's 13-6 loss to the Chargers in Week 11.

Thompkins was responsible for one of the Raiders' few quality plays on offense, making a tough catch over the middle on a play from midfield and ripping off about 15 yards after the catch on a 35-yard play. The Raiders were unable to get into the end zone on the fourth-quarter drive though and settled for their second field goal of the day.

Tight end Mychal Rivera shared the team lead in receptions with running back Latavius Murray, with the tight end catching three of his five targets for 40 yards. James Jones added 35 yards while catching two of his five targets, while Andre Homes caught just two of his six targets for 19 yards. Backup receiver Brice Butler managed to catch one of his three targets for 15 yards.

The Raiders' passing attack will look for a big step up Thursday against the Chiefs.

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(11/9/2014) Raiders tight end Mychal Rivera recorded a touchdown for a second straight game during a 41-17 loss Week 10 vs. Denver. Rivera finished with six catches for a team-high 64 receiving yards.

Rivera got most of his stats on the final drive. He totaled three catches for 49 yards on the last drive, which included an 18-yard touchdown. He has three touchdowns in his last two games and is averaging 61.7 receiving yards in his last three games.

The Raiders are back in action Week 11 at San Diego.

Mychal Rivera becoming a consistent target

by Scott White | Senior Fantasy Writer
(11/3/2014) OK, so you probably shouldn't expect two touchdowns from Mychal Rivera every week, but the Raiders tight end has certainly established himself as a reliable underneath target for quarterback Derek Carr -- the perfect safety valve for a rookie with the ability to stretch the field.

Rivera had only 38 yards in this one (thanks in part to those two 1-yard touchdowns), but he caught eight passes. That's only a week after catching seven for 83 yards.

Rivera had five catches back in Week 2, but otherwise, he hadn't been too involved in the passing game prior to Week 8. Now that he appears to be an integral part of it, he's in the discussion as at least a bye-week replacement in standard Fantasy leagues and perhaps an outright add in PPR formats.

Raiders' Mychal Rivera emerges Week 9

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(11/2/2014) Raiders TE Mychal Rivera was Derek Carr's favorite target Week 9 against the Seahawks.

Rivera was more of a check-down specialist, gaining 38 yards on eight receptions. He averaged just 4.8 yards per catch. Rivera was a big beneficiary at the goal line, where Carr found him for two 1 yard scores. Rivera was targeted a team-high 11 times.

Rivera will look for more Week 10 against the Broncos.

Mychal Rivera worth keeping an eye on

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(10/26/2014) Raiders tight end Mychal Rivera put together the best performance of his career in Week 8, in a 23-13 loss to the Browns.

Rivera, who had just 101 yards through the first six games, went off for 83 yards Sunday. He hauled in seven passes on nine targets in the game, all of which represent his best totals of the season.

Rivera showed some promise as a rookie, but had been mostly silent before Sunday's game. He has a limited track record of success, so you probably need to see more from Rivera before considering adding him. Still, Rivera might be an interesting prospect to monitor in the second half of the season.

Raiders TE Mychal Rivera has career game in Cleveland

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(10/26/2014) The finest game of the young career of Raiders TE Mychal Rivera went for naught in a Week 8 loss in Cleveland.

Rivera caught seven passes for 83 yards, including an acrobatic, one-handed 21-yarder late in the second quarter. He contributed four snags for 44 yards in the fourth quarter alone.

He will try to keep up the good work at Seattle on Sunday.

Raiders backup pass catchers don't amount to much Week 7

by Chris Cwik | CBSSports.com
(10/19/2014) The Raiders backup pass catchers didn't do all that much Week 7 against the Cardinals.

Brice Butler led the team in receiving, but all of it came on a long catch. In the second quarter, Derek Carr found Butler on a deep pass over the middle that went for 55 yards. It was Butler's only catch of the game.

Andre Holmes had three catches, gaining 34 yards. Mychal Rivera picked up one reception, gaining 18 yards. Denarius Moore also caught one ball, gaining 13 yards. Jamize Olawale gained 7 yards on his only reception of the game. Brian Leonhardt also caught one pass, gaining 4 yards.

They will take on the Browns Week 8.

Meanwhile in the running game, Jamize Olawale took a handoff for no gain in a 38-14 defeat.

Mychal Rivera set to stay as Raiders tight end?

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(3/3/2014) It looks as if 2013 rookie Mychal Rivera did enough to keep the starting job for the Raiders heading into the offseason. Rivera is a little undersized but held up for 38 catches for 407 yards and four touchdowns. ESPN believes Rivera will work on becoming a better blocker this offseason to land more playing time and thus an improved role on offense.

by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com

Rivera finished with two catches on three targets for 43 yards. He'll play Denver in Week 17.

The 54 yards and five receptions were a season high for Rivera, and this was his second touchdown ijn 2013. The Texans entered the game allowing the eighth-most touchdowns to tight ends this season.

Mychal Rivera has decent matchup, but still deep league play

by Nando Di Fino | Senior Fantasy Writer
(11/14/2013) Raiders tight end Mychal Rivera has one touchdown this season, and just one game with more than three Fantasy points.

While there's no real reason to embrace Rivera in Week 11, he does get to face off against a Texans defense that has given up the eighth-most touchdowns (five) to opposing tight ends.

Again, no real reason to like Rivera outside of the matchup -- Cory Harkey and Lance Kendricks have scored 40 percent of the touchdowns against the Texans --  but for a deep league owner desperate for anything close to some logic, Rivera does fit the profile of the tight ends who have found the end zone this season against Houston.
