Steelers injury report features nearly all probable

(12/27/2013) Linebacker Terence Garvin, who made his first start in Week 16, won't make his second on Sunday. He is the lone Steelers player ruled out for the game against the Browns. Fellow linebacker Jason Worilds (abdomen) is questionable while the other injured are probable.

They are guard David DeCastro (back), linebacker Jarvis Jones (illness), defensive end Brett Keisel (foot) and wide receiver Markus Wheaton (foot). All were full participants in Friday practice.


Steelers trio sidelined from Thursday practice

(12/26/2013) Three Steelers starters were absent from Thursday practice. Guard David DeCastro (back), wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders (knee) and linebacker Jason Worilds (abdomen) were all sidelined.

The team will try to get them healthy for Sunday against Cleveland. Pittsburgh still has a remote chance of qualifying for the playoffs, but must beat the Browns to keep that hope alive.

(12/13/2013) The Steelers have deemed seven players probable for their Sunday night AFC North showdown against the Bengals.

Those listed are guard Kelvin Beachum (knee), wideouts Emmanuel Sanders (foot) and Jerricho Cotchery (shoulder), guard David DeCastro (foot), defensive end Ziggy Hood (ankle), safety Troy Polamalu (shoulder) and tackle Marcus Gilbert (ankle).


Steelers release injury report with mostly probables for Sunday

(12/6/2013) Seven players dot the Steelers injury list released Friday, but only defensive end Brett Keisel (foot) and guard Kelvin Beachum (knee) are unlikely to play Sunday against the Dolphins. Keisel has been ruled out while Beachum is doubtful.

Defensive tackle Steve McLendon (ankle) is questionable while offensive linemen David DeCastro (foot) and Mike Adams (ankle), running back Le'Veon Bell (concussion) and linebacker LaMarr Woodley (calf) are probable.

(12/4/2013) The Steelers are battered along the offensive line. Mike Tomlin did not sidestep speculating about the statuses of left tackle Kelvin Beachum (knee) and right guard David DeCastro (foot). He said both should be questionable for Sunday against Miami, per NFL.com.

(11/17/2013) Steelers OT Mike Adams, OG Kelvin Beachum, OG David DeCastro, OT Marcus Gilbert and C Fernando Velasco are active Week 11 against the Lions.

All five players were listed as probable on the team's injury report entering the game. Both Gilbert and DeCastro are dealing with ankle injuries.

(11/15/2013) The Steelers list 10 players on their Friday injury report, but six are probable. The only player ruled out for the Sunday game against Detroit is safety Shamarko Thomas (ankle).

Designated as doubtful is linebacker LaMarr Woodley (calf) while defensive end Brett Keisel (foot) and guard Ramon Foster (ankle) are questionable.

Five of the probables are offensive linemen. They are Fernando Velasco (knee), Marcus Gilbert (ankle), David DeCastro (ankle), Kelvin Beachum (hip) and Mike Adams (ribs). Tight end Heath Miller (not injury related) is also probable.

(11/6/2013) Steelers starting guard David DeCastro expressed confidence Wednesday that he will play Sunday against visiting Buffalo. DeCastro missed his first game of the year in Week 9 against New England with an ankle injury.

(11/3/2013) The Steelers have made QB Landry Jones, WE Markus Wheaton, CB Curtis Brown, TE Richard Gordon, LB Kion Wilson, OG David DeCastro and DT Hebron Fangupo inactive Week 9 against the Patriots. 

Brown and Wheaton were both listed as out on the team's injury report Friday. The other five payers are healthy scratches.

Steelers offensive linemen working way through injuries

(11/1/2013) The Steelers expect to have starting guard David DeCastro available for the game Sunday against the Patriots despite the fact that he did not practice Wednesday or Thursday, the team website has reported. DeCastro sustained an ankle injury in Week 8 in Oakland.

The Steelers also lost fellow starting guard Ramon Foster to a concussion against the Raiders. He has yet to be cleared for the game against New England.


Steelers coach provides updates on injured offensive linemen

(10/29/2013) Steelers coach Mike Tomlin gave updates Tuesday on the three offensive linemen who suffered injuries Week 8 at Oakland.

Tomlin said Ramon Foster has been cleared to practice after suffering a concussion and should be good to play Week 9 at New England. Tomlin also said Guy Whimper, who suffered a hyperextended knee, should be good to play Sunday.

As for David DeCastro, who suffered an ankle injury, Tomlin said he will be limited early in the practice might and his status for Week 9 remains uncertain.
