Colts cuts knock down roster to required 53

(8/30/2014) The Colts have pared down their roster to 53 on Saturday by cutting 17 players and making other moves.

The offensive players on the list are running back David Fluellen, quarterback Chandler Harnish, wide receivers Ryan Lankford and Josh Lenz, center FN Lutz, tight ends Weslye Saunders and Erik Swoope and guard Josh Walker.

The defensive players let go by Indianapolis are ends Gannon Conway and Tyler Hoover, linebackers Rob Ruggiero, Kelvin Sheppard, Phillip Hunt and Andrew Jackson, safety Dewey McDonald, tackles Brandon McKinney and Nnamdi Obukwelu and cornerback Sheldon Price.

The Colts waived/injured tackle Matt Hall and safety Delano Howell and placed linebacker Robert Mathis on the reserve/suspended list.

Howell met with doctors this week to discuss his future. He is set to meet with the team Friday to talk about a timetable for returning to action.

The injury does have the Colts considering veteran Mike Adams to play alongside LaRon Landry as a starting safety.

Colts to give Delano Howell shot at safety

(5/23/2014) The Colts will give safety Delano Howell the first crack at replacing departed veteran Antoine Bethea, ESPN reports. Howell played in a limited capacity last season and had some big plays including a touchdown against the Seahawks. 

"All I think back to is Delano Howell," Pagano said per ESPN. "We went out and beat a pretty good football team (San Francisco), I think he started at safety that game and had, I don't know, six, seven, eight tackles or something, was pretty productive in that ball game. He returned a blocked field goal for a touchdown against Seattle. He's not the only one. We've got guys in-house that will be great competition there." 


Colts make four roster moves Tuesday

(11/14/2013) The Colts inactive list for Week 11 against the Titans did not feature much in the way of surprises Thursday, as all three players sidelined by injuries had already been ruled out: defensive backs Josh Gordy (groin), Delano Howell (neck) and Greg Toler (groin) were all inactive for the game due to injury.

They were joined on the inactive list by linebacker Kelvin Sheppard, defensive lineman Montori Hughes, wide receiver Da'Rick Rogers and offensive lineman Khaled Holmes.

Howell, who had been nursing the neck problem before that MNF clash against Denver, has started three of the last five games after being out the first two. He has also dealt with a toe injury this season.
