Safety is Green Bay's weakest link

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(2/5/2014) Packers starting safeties Morgan Burnett and M.D. Jennings combined for zero interceptions last season, the first time that's happened in Green Bay since at least the 1950s, reports the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Every other NFL team got an interception from a safety on its roster.

"We just didn't get it done and I don't think that was a lack of ability, because the ability is there," safeties coach Darren Perry told the paper. "We just have to make sure we're consistent."

Burnett led the team with three fumble recoveries, but also paced the Packers with 17 missed tackles. Coach Mike McCarthy said immediately after the season that he wants more "impact players" on defense.

Green Bay could give a longer look to Sean Richardson or Micah Hyde, or address the safety position through free agency and the draft.

Packers makes pair of long-term moves on injured defenders

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(11/23/2013) The Packers activated defensive back Sean Richardson (neck) and defensive lineman Jerel Worthy (neck) from the PUP list, the team announced Saturday. Both players should be available for Week 12 against the Vikings.

To make room on the active roster, the team added a pair of defenders to injured reserve. Defensive backs James Nixon (knee) and Casey Hayward (hamstring) will both miss the remainder of the season after being put on IR.

Packers put four players on PUP list

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(8/27/2013) The Packers placed safety Sean Richardson (neck), defensive lineman Jerel Worthy (knee), tackle Derek Sherrod (leg) and J.C. Tretter (ankle) on the reserve/PUP list Tuesday. None of these players can return before Week 7 vs. Cleveland.

Seven Packers start on PUP list

(7/26/2013) In addition to DuJuan Harris, who is working his way back after surgery to remove a cyst from his lung, the Packers placed the following players on the Physically Unable to Perform list

Pass rusher Mike Neal (undisclosed), offensive tackle Derek Sherrod (leg), defensive end Jerel Worthy (torn ACL), lineman J.C. Tretter (ankle), safety Sean Richardson (neck) and safety Chaz Powell (undisclosed). Jamari Lattimore was also placed on the Non-Football Injury list. The moves were first reported by the Baltimore Sun via the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel

Richardson placed on IR

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(12/1/2012) Green Bay signed running back DuJuan Harris and wide receiver Jeremy Ross to the active roster Saturday. They were on the practice squad. The Packers placed tight end Andrew Quarless (knee) and safety Sean Richardson (back) on injured reserve, ending their seasons in corresponding moves.
