Vikings let go of Greg Childs, Letroy Guion

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(3/6/2014) The Vikings waived receiver Greg Childs and released defensive lineman Letroy Guion. The team announced the moves on Thursday

Childs never played a snap in the NFL since missing his rookie season in 2012 because he ruptured patellar tendons in both his knees. Guion, 26, struggled with nagging injuries and finished with 21 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in 13 games last year. He was due to count $4.3 million against the salary cap.

Greg Childs won't come off PUP list

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(12/9/2013) Vikings coach Leslie Frazier announced Monday wide receiver Greg Childs would not be activated off the PUP list and miss the rest of the season. Childs has not played a snap in the NFL since missing his rookie season in 2012 because he ruptured patellar tendons in both his knees.

Vikings coach hopes Greg Childs is ready to practice

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(11/20/2013) Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said he hopes wide receiver Greg Childs will be able to participate in practice Thursday. Childs, who missed his rookie season in 2012 because he ruptured patellar tendons in both his knees, has been on the PUP list all season.

Greg Childs making 'positive progress'

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(10/17/2013) Vikings coach Leslie Frazier said Thursday wide receiver Greg Childs, who missed his rookie season in 2012 because he ruptured patellar tendons in both his knees, is making "positive progress." Frazier said he hopes to get Childs on the field soon.

Childs is on the PUP list, so the Vikings will have to make a decision about activating him in a few weeks.

Greg Childs opens season on PUP list

(8/27/2013) The Vikings placed receiver Greg Childs (knees) in the reserve/physically unable to perform list (PUP) Tuesday. He will miss the first six weeks of the 2013 season.

Vikings place pair on PUP list

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/26/2013) The Vikings placed receiver Greg Childs and linebacker Nathan Williams on the PUP list to kick off training camp.

Childs is recovering from twin patella tendon tears in his knees. He did individual drills as recently as June. Williams had arthroscopic knee surgery in June.

Vikings could get injured players back soon

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(6/19/2013) The Vikings might be getting some injured players back in time for training camp. Receiver Greg Childs and linebacker Michael Mauti were able to work in individual drills during the first practice of mandatory minicamp Tuesday, reports 1500ESPN.com.

Mauti, a seventh-round draft pick from Penn State, tore his ACL in his left knee on Nov. 17 -- the third torn ACL he'd suffered in four years and second in about 14 months to the same knee. Childs, a fourth-round draft pick last year out of Arkansas, missed his rookie season after an Aug. 4 dive in training camp left him with ruptured patellar tendons in both his knees -- an injury he suffered in one of his knees in 2010.

Both players have been noncommittal about a timetable for their returns, deferring to the Vikings' medical staff. And both could be candidates to open camp on the active/physically unable to perform list, from which they could be activated at any time.

Vikings confirm gruesome Childs injury

(8/5/2012) Vikings receiver Greg Childs has indeed suffered two torn patella tendons in his knees, ending his rookie season prematurely. Surgery is expected soon. Childs appeared to sustain the injury while going up for a pass near the endzone and landing hard toward the end of Saturday's practice. He was carted off the field. “You hate to see any player go down for any reason, and Greg has struggled with injuries, as we know, in college,” said Frazier on Saturday.
