News: 49ers linebacker Darius Fleming (knee) was placed on the reserve/PUP list Monday. Fleming will miss the first six weeks of the season and won't be eligible to play in a game until Week 7 against the Seahawks.
Analysis: Fleming, the 49ers' fifth-round draft pick out of Notre Dame, tore his ACL during the team's rookie minicamp. Apparently, he has a chance to play this season, which is why he starts the year on the PUP list. Fleming doesn't have any Fantasy value until he proves healthy and productive. Leave him off rosters.
News: Outside linebacker Darius Fleming, the 49ers' fifth-round draft pick out of Notre Dame, tore his ACL during the team's rookie minicamp according NFL.com. Fleming was one of two linebackers the team selected in the draft, the other being Virginia's Cam Johnson (seventh round).
Analysis: Fleming had some potential to contribute to the Niners' pass rush but it appears he won't be doing much of anything this year. Too bad. It's fine to pass on him in all leagues including rookie-only drafts.
News: The 49ers spent three third-day draft picks on their defense, adding Notre Dame linebacker Darius Fleming, Michigan State safety Trenton Robinson and Virginia defensive end Cam Johnson. They are the only additions to the Niners' defense this offseason.
Analysis: Of these three, Robinson is the one worth paying attention to. Fleming has pass-rush potential but probably won't be an every-down linebacker anytime soon, and Johnson will battle for playing time on the D-line. Robinson could land playing time in a year or two and could put up some decent stats for Fantasy owners. He's worth a late pick in dynasty/keeper leagues and rookie-only drafts. The others shouldn't be drafted for now.
