News: The Titans placed receiver Marc Mariani (leg) on season-ending injured reserve Sunday.
Analysis: Mariani has mostly been a special teams contributor in his career. He had marginal Fantasy appeal and can be left off all rosters now that he is out for the season.
News: Tennessee receiver Marc Mariani was carted off the field with a left tibia fracture during Thursday's contest against the Cardinals. Mariani's leg got caught up during a punt return as he was brought down with an open fracture. He had an air cast on his leg and is scheduled to have surgery on his leg, which will likely result in a lengthy recovery.
Analysis: Mariani's injury may have been one of the most gruesome injuries suffered during the preseason as his bone broke through the skin. At this point it is uncertain how long he'll be out for, but it does not look good for his short-term future. We should know more information as he receives further examinations in the coming days. Mariani is not considered a worthwhile option at this time, even if healthy.
News:Marc Mariani flourished on deep routes throughout the Titans' offseason program, and that could help him make the team's roster. Mariani may be competing with Michael Preston for the final receiver spot on the roster, but his special-teams work and quality minicamp could give him an edge. "He's one of those guys when the ball went up, it seems like he came down with it," coach Mike Munchak said. "He found a way to get open; his routes were sharper."
Analysis: Mariani could be of use in leagues that reward special-teams yardage, but that's about it. With the likes of Kenny Britt, Nate Washington and Kendall Wright in front of him on the depth chart, Mariani isn't expected to play a lot of offense and thus isn't a great Fantasy option.
News: If WR Nate Washington (ankle) is limited Sunday, WRs Marc Mariani and Donnie Avery could receive added reps. Mariani had roughly 10 more snaps than usual last week because of Washington's injury. Well have to be smart with that rotation, coach Mike Munchak said on Wednesday. Even if Nates feeling good, we have to be careful.
Analysis: Even if Mariani gets more time on the field, Tennessee is a running team. New Orleans is allowing 281.2 receiving yards per game and have given up 19 touchdowns through the air. Mariani is not a recommended start for Week 14.
News: Titans Pro Bowl KR Marc Mariani (ankle) is out of a boot that sidelined him last week and expects to play Sunday vs. the Jags. Mariani, who rolled his ankle on Aug. 27 vs. the Bears, practiced Monday. I feel great, Mariani said. I havent been held back at all.
Analysis: Mariani made a solid mark as a returner last season, but he had just a minimal impact as a wideout. Fantasy owners should know that the team is carrying just five WRs right now, though Mariani is near the bottom of the depth chart. He should not be owned outside of leagues that reward return yards. Even then, the Montana product is a marginal threat at best.
News: With his 87-yard punt return for a touchdown in the Week 11 overtime loss to the Redskins, Titans rookie WR Marc Mariani became the only player this season with a punt return and a kickoff return for a touchdown. The KO return was a 98-yarder against the Broncos Week 4. He did not touch the ball offensively in the game.
Analysis: Mariani is not expected to contribute on offense for the Titans. Leave him alone in Fantasy in Week 12 at Houston.
News: Tennessee WR Marc Mariani was not used in the offense in Week 1 against the Raiders. Instead, Mariani was limited to returning kicks and punts.
Analysis: Mariani is not expected to contribute on offense for the Titans. Leave him alone in Fantasy in Week 2 as the Titans host the Steelers.
