Cowboys reach 75-man limit

(8/26/2014) The Cowboys got down to the 75-man roster limit Tuesday. They waived receiver Chris Boyd, punter Tom Hornsey, long snapper Casey Kreiter, defensive end Adewale Ojomo and guard Wayne Tribue, and released quarterback Caleb Hanie.

Dallas waived these players with injury designations: tight end Jordan Najvar, safety Matt Johnson, cornerbacks Justin Green and Johnny Thomas, and linebacker DeVonte Holloman. Defensive end Ben Gardner was placed on IR, and defensive tackle Amobi Okoye was put on the Reserve/Non-Football Injury list.


Cowboys list 13 inactive Saturday

(8/23/2014) The Cowboys have 13 players out of uniform for Saturday's preseason game against the Dolphins, including some who have been battling injuries through the preseason.

Defensive backs Morris Claiborne (shoulder), Jeff Heath, Johnny Thomas, Matt Johnson and B.W. Webb; linebackers DeVonte Holloman (neck) and Orie Lemon; defensive linemen Henry Melton (groin), Terrell McClain (ankle), and Demarcus Lawrence; tight end Gavin Escobar (shoulder) and offensive lineman Darrion Weems are all inactive Saturday.  


Report: Neck injury likely to end career of DeVonte Holloman

(8/21/2014) Jason Garrett has told that the examination of a neck injury sustained in the Saturday preseason game by Cowboys second-year linebacker DeVonte Holloman revealed a condition that will probably end his career, per ESPN.

Holloman, who was also sidelined for seven games last season with a neck problem, started two games in 2013 and managed 14 tackles, 12 assists and two sacks.

(8/17/2014) Cowboys linebacker DeVonte Holloman left in the fourth quarter of Saturday's preseason game with a neck injury, and the team has some concern after the linebacker missed seven games last season with a neck issue, ESPN.com reports.

"We don’t know if it’s the exact same thing, but it’s the same body part so we’re checking on him (Saturday) night and we’ll check him out in the morning," coach Jason Garrett said.

Holloman had two assists on tackles before suffering the injury.


Cowboys DST brings the heat

(12/30/2013) The Cowboys DST produced five sacks in the loss to the Eagles, two apiece by defensive tackle Jason Hatcher and linebacker DeVonte Holloman. Hatcher stripped quarterback Nick Foles on one of his sacks, defensive end DeMarcus Ware recovering.

Defensive end Jarius Wynn also registered a sack for Dallas, which had just 16 sacks over its previous 12 games. The Cowboys DST added to the franchise record for yards allowed by giving up 366 in the 24-22 loss.

All seven players were able to fully participate in practice Friday. Harris and Claiborne are both dealing with hamstring injuries.

Only Holloman was able to practice this week. He was limited in practice both Monday and Tuesday. Lee, Durant, Claiborne and Harris were unable to practice.

(11/24/2013) The Dallas Cowboys annouced their Week 12 inactives for the NFC East showdown against the Giants.

Linebacker Sean Lee is out, as expected. He's joined by safety Jakar Hamilton, linebacker Justin Durant, linebacker DeVonte Holloman, tackle Darrion Weems, tight end Tyron Smith, and defensive tackle Everett Dawkins

The game is set for a 4:25 p.m. (Eastern) kickoff.

Holloman had been making progress, but suffered a setback during Wednesday's practice. Both Lee and Durant are dealing with hamstring injuries.


DeVonte Holloman on track to return Week 12

(11/20/2013) Cowboys rookie linebacker DeVonte Holloman has been sidelined the last four games due to a spinal contusion, but he's back at practice and is expected to play Week 12 at N.Y. Giants.

"We feel good about where he is physically. We’re going to let him go," coach Jason Garrett said, per the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "We’re going to let him practice and see how he responds."

Holloman is expected to play some middle linebacker in the nickel defense and at strong-side linebacker in base defense, with Sean Lee and Justin Durant expected to be sidelined due to hamstring injuries.

"He’s an inexperienced player. He hasn’t played that much for us," Garrett said. "But when he’s played, he’s done some good things, you know, as a special teams guy, spot play on defense. Has a good instinct for playing. Seems to be around the ball and makes a lot of plays."

(11/10/2013) The Cowboys listed seven players as inactive for the game at New Orleans: defensive tackle Jason Hatcher (neck), receiver Miles Austin (hamstring), cornerback Morris Claiborne (hamstring), safety J.J. Claiborne is targeting Week 12 at the Giants for his return.

Claiborne has been dealing with a hamstring injury. Holloman has a neck issue, and Wilcox has a knee injury. The trio was unable to take part in practices this week.
