Bears might use D.J. Williams, Jon Bostic at MLB

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(9/5/2013) Bears middle linebacker D.J. Williams practiced with the first-team defense Wednesday, but coach Marc Trestman said he hasn't finalized the extent of Williams' role in Sunday's opener against the Bengals. Trestman added Williams, who suffered a right calf injury in late July, and rookie Jon Bostic might both play middle linebacker Week 1.

"I don’t know that he’s in game condition to play 60 or 70 plays, or 50 or 60 plays, but we’re just going to let the week kind of take its course," Trestman said, per The Chicago Tribune. "Both him and Jonathan are getting plenty of work. We’re excited to have him back, certainly. If we have to make a decision, it’s a good one. There’s no reason why they can’t both be up."

Bears' Jon Bostic a bit lighter in the wallet

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(8/21/2013) Bears linebacker Jon Bostic has been fined $21,000 by the league for his hit last week on Chargers WR Mike Willie, according to ESPN. The news was also tweeted by teammate Lance Briggs, who was not fine with the fine. He claimed it to be a "clean hit."

The fine will cost Bostic the equivalent of nearly one game check of his $405,000 base salary, reports the Chicago Tribune.
