News: Lions defensive end Ronnell Lewis was arrested on three misdemeanor complaints in Norman, Okla., ESPN reports. Public intoxication is among the complaints as is disturbing the peace and interfering with official procedure.
Analysis: Lewis has a good opportunity to work on the Lions' D-line as a pass rusher this year, so hopefully there isn't a suspension in his future stemming from this incident. He probably won't be worth drafting in typical Fantasy play.
News: The Detroit Free Press reports Lions general manager Martin Mayhew believes Ronnell Lewis could contribute to the team's pass rush in 2013 after playing sparingly as a rookie (one defensive snap) and being inactive for the team's final seven games. "I think he's going to be a factor going forward," Mayhew said. "I think he'll be a good rotational defensive end/special-teams player for us. He's got ability, without question. He's good on special teams -- he just didn't have quite enough impact to make one of those other guys inactive (this year)."
Analysis: Lewis had 10 sacks in three seasons at Oklahoma and was initially drafted as a linebacker. As a defensive lineman he'll have some low-end potential in the deepest of Fantasy drafts.
News: The Lions drafted three cornerbacks and three linebackers in April's draft, all of them with picks in Round 3 or later. The three cornerbacks are Louisiana-Lafayette's Dwight Bentley, Albion's Chris Greenwood and New Mexico State's Jonte Green. The linebackers are Oklahoma's Ronnell Lewis (who might play some defensive end), Temple's Tahir Whitehead and Oklahoma's Travis Lewis. Bentley's a tough, physical cornerback who might compete for a roster spot while Greenwood and Green's speed should help them land some work on special teams. Ronnell Lewis will definitely work on special teams and might move into a role as a pass rusher for the Lions as a defensive lineman while Travis Lewis is a tackling machine. Whitehead has good skills and can work in pass coverage as an outside linebacker.
Analysis: These guys all have some nice potential to help the Lions -- eventually. Bentley has the best chance to start the soonest and Whitehead and both Lewises have some long-term potential, but none of them are worth anything more than late-round picks in deeper rookie-only drafts. Greenwood and Green will take a while to be helpful for Fantasy owners.
