Redskins trying to add speed to pass rush

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(8/28/2013) Redskins defensive coordinator Jim Haslett has revealed some changes to the team's pass-rushing packages during the preseason.

In some third-down situations, Haslett has utilized six linebackers to take advantage of the talent at the position. Haslett has had linebackers Ryan Kerrigan and Darryl Tapp lined up in three-point stances, Brian Orakpo and Brandon Jenkins at their outside linebacker positions, and London Fletcher and Perry Riley as inside linebackers as always.

Haslett is carrying through on his vision to use all of his top pass rushers at the same time.

"Just something to try to get a little more speed on the field. We are just trying some things out right now," Haslett said, per The Washington Post. "Obviously, when we get into the regular season, who we’re playing, when we’re playing, how we’re playing them, the teams we’re playing will dictate what we can do. We ran it last week, wanted to see what it looked like and I thought those guys did a nice job with it."
