by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(8/26/2013) Browns running back Dion Lewis, who was in line to be Trent Richardson's backup, was placed on season-ending injured reserve. He had surgery last week to fix a fractured left fibula.

Lewis averaged 4.5 yards on 10 preseason carries and caught seven balls for 37 yards and a touchdown.

Dion Lewis to undergo surgery

by Jeff Lippman | CBSSports.com
(8/17/2013) A Browns team spokesman said Saturday that running back Dion Lewis will undergo surgery on a fractured left fibula, the Akron Beacon-Journal reports.

Lewis definitely will not be available for the Week 1 opener, and could miss the entire season for the Browns. The Browns could still place Lewis on season-ending IR, or they could put him on IR and designate him to return after Week 8.

"We don’t have to make these decisions until the final roster is put together," coach Rob Chudzinski said. "At that time, you can figure out who is going [on which list]. [Lewis] was one of the guys that had had an opportunity to show what he could do. [He was] really catching our eye."

Dion Lewis injury might cost him the season

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(8/16/2013) Browns backup running back Dion Lewis could miss the 2013 season after breaking his left leg vs. the Lions on Thursday. Lewis could be a candidate for the team's short-term injured reserve, which would give him a chance to play in the second half of the season.

Lewis is undergoing further tests on Friday, the Cleveland Plain Dealer reported.

Dion Lewis diagnosed with broken leg

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8/15/2013) Browns running back Dion Lewis was diagnosed with a fractured fibula after Thursday's preseason game against the Lions. Lewis was forced to leave the game with what was initially diagnosed as an ankle injury, but X-rays taken after the game revealed the extent of the injury.

A timeline has yet to be established for how long his recovery will take, but Lewis is likely to be out at least through the start of the regular season. He was running well in the preseason and seemed likely to take the top backup job behind Trent Richardson.

Dion Lewis exits with ankle injury

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8/15/2013) Browns running back Dion Lewis had to be helped off the field in the third quarter Thursday against the Lions, after suffering a left ankle injury. He did not return to the game, and the extent of the injury is not yet known.

Lewis looked good prior to the injury, rushing for 33 yards on five carries. He was also a factor in the passing game, bringing in four of five passes thrown his way for 15 yards.

It remains to be seen how serious this injury is, or whether it will affect his chances of winning the backup running back spot behind Trent Richardson.

Dion Lewis moves ahead of Montario Hardesty

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(8/9/2013) Browns running back Dion Lewis has "climbed in front for the No. 2 job" behind Trent Richardson and ahead of Montario Hardesty, reports the Cleveland Plain-Dealer.

Lewis ran the ball five times for 12 yards and caught three passes for 22 yards and a touchdown in Thursday's preseason game agains the Rams. He got the start with Richardson (shin) and Hardesty (hamstring) out, and Hardesty has missed most of training camp with the injury.

"Obviously you want all of your players to play but when your number's called you’ve got to be ready," said Lewis. "So just prepare as if you're going to get a lot of touches and stuff like that so when your number’s called you always have to be ready."

Dion Lewis shows pass-catching skills

by Chris Towers | CBSSports.com
(8/8/2013) Browns running back Dion Lewis found ways to get involved in Thursday's preseason opener against the Rams, as he earned the start with Trent Richardson and Montario Hardesty sidelined.

Lewis, who offensive coordinator Norv Turner has been comparing to Darren Sproles in training camp, made more of an impact in the passing game than running the ball. He ran the ball five times for 12 yards, but brought in all three balls thrown his way for 22 yards and a touchdown.

Lewis is battling for the backup running spot behind Richardson.

by Jamey Eisenberg | Senior Fantasy Writer
(7/30/2013) Browns running back Dion Lewis is making a good impression at training camp, reports ESPN.

Lewis is trying to prove he can be the No. 2 running back in Cleveland behind Trent Richardson, and he's getting an extended look with Montario Hardesty (hamstring) hurt. The report says Lewis "has awed everyone with his speed, moves and catching ability."

Eagles want to move RB Lewis

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(4/3/2013) The Philadelphia Inquirer reports the Eagles have put running back Dion Lewis on the trade block. New coach Chip Kelly relies on bigger backs in his system and the 5-foot-8, 195-pound Lewis doesn't fit. Over two seasons Lewis has two touchdowns and 171 yards on 36 carries (4.8 avg.) with 21 yards on three grabs.
