(12/29/2013) The Vikings have made QB Josh Freeman, RB Adrian Peterson, CB Xavier Rhodes, RB Toby Gerhart, T Mike Remmers, WR Rodney Smith and DT Letroy Guion inactive Week 17.

With both Gerhart and Peterson out, Matt Asiata will get the majority of the work. Guion came into the game listed as doubtful.


Two Vikings questionable Week 17

Both players are dealing with ankle injuries. Prater was limited in practice Friday. Rhodes was limited throughout the week.

(12/22/2013) The Vikings' list of inactives for Week 16 at Cincinnati includes quarteback Josh Freeman, offensive lineman Jeff Baca, offensive lineman Mike Remmers, wide receiver Rodney Smith, defensive lineman Chase Baker and defensive back Xavier Rhodes (ankle). Freeman, Baca, Remmers, Smith and Baker are all healthy scratches.

Rhodes is dealing with an ankle injury, and has been unable to practice all week. He also missed Week 15 due to the injury.

(12/15/2013) The Vikings have made RB Adrian Peterson, OL Brandon Fusco, CB Chris Cook, TE John Carlson, QB Josh Freeman, RB Toby Gerhart and CB Xavier Rhodes inactive Week 15 against the Eagles.

Peterson and Gerhart will not play, leaving Matt Asiata with the full-time workload. Rhodes and Fusco were listed as doubtful heading into the game.

(12/13/2013) Vikings TE John Carlson, CB Xavier Rhodes and CB Josh Robinson have been ruled out Week 15 against the Eagles.

Carlson is dealing with a concussion, and has not practiced all week. Rhodes has an ankle injury, and was also held out of practice. Robinson is dealing with a chest issue.

(11/29/2013) The Vikings feature a lengthy list of injured defenders on the injury report for Week 13, but they expect to have the majority of them available this Sunday against the Bears. Among the seven defenders listed, only Josh Robinson (chest) is expected to be sidelined.

Defensive backs Xavier Rhodes (groin) and Andrew Sendejo (foot), linebacker Chad Greenway (wrist) and defensive linemen Brian Robison (illness), Fred Evans (knee) and Kevin Williams (quadriceps) are all listed as officially probable for Sunday's game. 


Vikings' defense gets some players healthy

(11/7/2013) The Vikings defense will receive a boost for the Week 10 game against Washington as they are getting several players healthy for the contest. Linebacker Chad Greenway (wrist), and defensive backs Xavier Rhodes (shoulder) and Josh Robinson (chest) are all active against the Redskins. All three players were probable with their various injuries on Wednesday's official injury report.

(10/19/2013) The Minnesota Vikings released the team's official injury report for the Week 7 Monday night game at the New York Giants. After a practice Saturday, these five players were able to get back at it and were officially listed as probable to play in the game. 

Those players are as follows: TE Rhett Ellison (knee); Backup QB Christian Ponder (rib); DB Xavier Rhodes (ankle); DL Kevin Williams (knee); and WR Jarius Wright (ankle). 


Xavier Rhodes off to good start

(8/1/2013) Vikings rookie defensive back Xavier Rhodes is having a good training camp, reports the team's official website.

The report says Rhodes can be physical in press coverage, he has recovery speed in case a receiver gets past him, he reads and reacts well in the run game and in space while dropping into a zone, and he makes plays on the ball with good closing speed and soft hands.

Even though it's early in training camp, per the report, "so far, so good" on Rhodes' performance.


Vikings sign rookie Xavier Rhodes

(7/25/2013) The Vikings announced Thursday that rookie cornerback Xavier Rhodes has signed. Rhodes was one of three first round selections (No. 25 overall) by the Vikings in the 2013 draft.

The last time the Vikings drafted a cornerback in the first round it was Dewayne Washington (No. 18 overall) in 1994.

While at Florida State, Rhodes earned first-team All-ACC honors and was named a semifinalist for the Thorpe Award. Rhodes finished the 2012 season with three interceptions.

(4/25/2013) The Vikings have taken Florida State cornerback Xavier Rhodes with the 25th overall selection in the NFL draft. They drafted the big cornerback with their second first-rounder on Thursday night. Rhodes, a press corner, had four interceptions and 12 pass breakups as a junior last season. He's expected to help the Vikings overcome the loss of veteran Antoine Winfield, who signed with Seattle after being released in the offseason.
