Packers keeping David Bakhtiari at left tackle

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(3/2/2014) The Packers intend to keep David Bakhtiari at left tackle despite Bryan Bulaga's return from a knee injury, reports the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Bulaga will play right tackle.

Coach Mike McCarthy told the paper he likes the chemistry on the left side between Bakhtiari and guard Josh Sitton. "I liked the relationship between David and Josh, and to me it's more about the combination over there," he said. "They work well together. They're both wired mentally.

"David's young and raw, and he's got a lot to learn. The game comes very easily to Josh now."

McCarthy added that Bakhtiari, a 6-4, 300-pounder selected in the fourth round last season, needs to get bigger and stronger for the 2014 season.

Aaron Rodgers' blindside protector still a question mark

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(1/22/2014) More than two years after Chad Clifton played his last game, the Packers still aren't sure who their future left tackle is, reports the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel. Bryan Bulaga was supposed to man that spot this season, but he tore his ACL and was replaced by rookie David Bakhtiari.

Bakhtiari held his own. Still, coach Mike McCarthy and offensive line coach James Campen have not committed to him for 2014. "I don't think you can really get into that at this point," Campen told the paper. "You have a lot of players that are coming back. It will be a lot of competition there. That will be a very competitive situation and a good situation to have."

A fourth-round pick, Bakhtiari is undersized for the position at 6-4, 300 pounds, and might be more suited to the right side, the report said.

Two violate concussion protocol last weekend

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(1/10/2014) Saints cornerback Keenan Lewis and Packers tackle David Bakhtiari both violated concussion protocol during Wild Card action last weekend, which drew the attention of the league.

Lewis was seen pleading with medical personnel to give him back his helmet and allow him to return to the game after sustaining a concussion. Bakhtiari did re-enter the game for an extra point try during a concussion evaluation.

The league will not assess any fines. Lewis has been cleared to play in the NFC Semifinal against Seattle.

Injured Packers fine to play

(12/8/2013) Packers offensive lineman Evan Dietrich-Smith (knee, ankle), offensive lineman David Bakhtiari (illness), tight end Brandon Bostick (concussion), linebacker Jamari Lattimore (quadriceps), defensive lineman Mike Neal (abdomen), linebacker Nick Perry (foot) and defensive lineman Ryan Pickett (knee) are all active for Week 14 against the Falcons after being listed on Friday's injury report.

Packers give rookie first shot at left tackle

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(8/6/2013) With Packers left tackle Bryan Bulaga done for the season with a torn ACL, rookie David Bakhtiari is getting the first chance to replace him, reports ESPN.com. Green Bay is keeping Marshall Newhouse at right tackle for now.

Bakhtiari (6-4, 299) was a fourth-round pick out of Colorado.

David Bakhtiari to start for Packers?

by Dave Richard | Senior Fantasy Writer
(8/2/2013) Packers rookie David Bakhtiari has entered the conversation for the starting right tackle job in training camp. He's stood out working as a backup at left and right tackle, the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports, and got a chance to work with the starters for a play on Thursday.

"He's clearly one of the guys that has made a step in the padded work," coach Mike McCarthy said this week.

Marshall Newhouse still seems like the starting right tackle for the Pack.
