Eric Fisher getting an early start

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(7/22/2014) Chiefs left tackle Eric Fisher, last year's No. 1 overall pick, practiced with rookies and fringe players at Tuesday's minicamp ahead of the full-squad training camp that opens Thursday, reports ESPN.com. Fisher is coming back from shoulder and sports hernia surgeries.

"I had the surgeries, so I needed to get out here, get situated before the vets get here," Fisher said. "I’m glad to be here early so I can get a jump on things."

Fisher played right tackle last year, so the extra time should help him adjust to protecting Alex Smith's blind side. He said he hasn't lost strength despite not being able to bench press following the shoulder operation.

"I’ve been in there working," he said. "When you can’t bench, there’s other things you can do. That’s what I was doing."

(4/21/2014) Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Monday that offensive tackle Eric Fisher had shoulder and sports-hernia operations, reports the Kansas City Star. Reid said Fisher "has been rehabbing and doing well."

The report didn't say anything else about Fisher's status, but Fisher said he played last year between 295 to 300. He hopes to play between 310 to 315 this year, so it sounds like he should be ready for training camp.

Eric Fisher moving to left tackle

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(3/25/2014) The Chiefs are moving Eric Fisher, last year's No. 1 overall pick, to left tackle, reports SB Nation. Fisher played right tackle last season and will slide over to fill the vacancy left by Branden Albert, who signed with Miami.

Donald Stephenson is considered the favorite to step in at right tackle.

Eric Fisher bracing for move to left side

by Marty Gitlin | CBSSports.com
(1/16/2014) Chiefs tackle Eric Fisher could move from the right side to the left in 2014, according to the Kansas City Star. That move would be predicated upon the departure of current left tackle Branden Albert to free agency. Albert was given the franchise tag after last season.

"Right now, he's the right tackle," said general manager John Dorsey of Fisher. "I think he showed that (things) slowed down for him (during) the final third of the season. He began to get comfortable and realize there were different types of pass rushers in the National Football League."

Fisher allowed seven sacks and 35 hurries this season, both team-highs.
