(4/24/2014) A league source says the Seahawks are "leaning against" exercising their fifth-year option on offensive lineman James Carpenter, ProFootballTalk.com reports. Carpenter has been injury plagued throughout his short career and would be due over $7 million in 2015 if the option were accepted. If he's not extended by early May then he'll be in a contract year.

Seahawks could have O-line surprise in Super Bowl

by Larry Hartstein | CBSSports.com
(1/21/2014) After Seahawks rookie Michael Bowie was a surprise starter at left guard in the divisional playoffs against the Saints, the rookie was inactive for the NFC Championship Game with James Carpenter and Paul McQuistan sharing the spot, reports the News Tribune of Tacoma, Wash. Coach Pete Carroll said competition at the spot remains open.

"It's one of those deals that it's so close, the competition is so keen that it can go either way," Carroll said, per the paper. "And we thought the experience would help us and didn't put too much pressure on Michael in that instance. But he's going to be very competitive as we move forward. Here goes another couple weeks, and we'll see what happens."

Coach eager to see James Carpenter play

by Michael Hurcomb | CBSSports.com
(8/28/2013) Seahawks guard James Carpenter will see his first action of the preseason Thursday against the Raiders after recovering from a foot injury.

"Looking forward to him playing," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Wednesday, per The Seattle Times. "It’s necessary for him to get out there and play again. He was really making some progress and missed a couple of weeks here so it will be great to get him out."
