Patriots LB Dont'a Hightower to miss at least six months

(3/26/2015) Patriots linebacker Dont'a Hightower is going to miss between six and seven months, according to the Boston Globe.

Hightower had surgery this February to repair a torn right labrum. The team is concerned that he might not be able to be ready for the start of the reguar season. He played through the injury for a good portion of the 2014 season prior to surgery.

The 25-year-old started all 12 games he played, collecting 89 total tackles, six sacks, two passes defensed and one forced fumble.


Patriots linebacker Dont'a Hightower undergoes labrum surgery

(2/10/2015) Patriots linebacker Dont'a Hightower underwent surgery Tuesday to repair a torn labrum. He posted a picture of himself after the surgery in a sling.

Hightower totaled 89 tackles with six sacks and one forced fumble in 2014, helping lead New England to the Super Bowl. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Hightower played the Super Bowl with "mostly one arm" because of the injury.


Report: Patriots LB Dont'a Hightower to have labrum surgery

(2/2/2015) Patriots linebacker Dont’a Hightower will undergo surgery to repair a torn labrum, according to a report from the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Hightower played through the injury during Sunday’s 28-24 Super Bowl XLIX over the Seahawks. He finished the game with five tackles.

Rapoport reported that Hightower “played mostly with one arm” against the Seahawks.


Tom Brady, Akeem Ayers get the green light for Super Bowl Sunday

(2/1/2015) Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (ankle) and linebackers Akeem Ayers (knee) and Dont'a Hightower (shoulder) are active and set to play in the Super Bowl Sunday against the Seahawks, the team announced.

All three were considered probable and in no real danger of missing the game Sunday. Brady threw for 4,109 yards with 33 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 2014.

Patriots center Bryan Stork is also active after being upgraded to probable for the game Saturday.

The game is currently pick'em between New England and Seattle Sunday.


Tom Brady the lone full participant for Pats in Thursday's practice

(1/22/2015) Patriots quarterback Tom Brady (ankle) was the only full participant in Thursday's practice in preparation for the Super Bowl on Feb. 1 against the Seahawks, according to 710 AM ESPN Radio in Seattle.

Cornerback Brandon Browner (knee), linebacker Dont'a Hightower (shoulder), defensive tackle Chris Jones (elbow), wide receiver Brandon LaFell (shoulder, toe), defensive lineman Sealver Siliga (foot) and center Bryan Stork (knee) were all limited participants.


Patriots C Bryan Stork would have missed practice Wednesday

(1/21/2015) The Patriots released a hypothetical Wednesday practice report during the bye week, with center Bryan Stork being listed as a DNP due to a knee injury.

Quarterback Tom Brady also appeared on the report with an ankle injury but would have participated fully in practice.

Five players would have been limited if the Patriots would have held practice Wednesday, including wide receiver Brandon LaFell (shoulder, toe), defensive linemen Chris Jones (elbow) and Sealver Siliga (foot), linebacker Dont'a Hightower (shoulder) and cornerback Brandon Browner (knee).

New England is a 1-point favorite against Seattle in Super Bowl XLIX after opening as an underdog.


Patriots' Tom Brady good to go for the AFC Championship

Brady was never a real threat to miss the contest. He was listed as probable on the injury report due to an ankle injury, but that's been the case all season. Brady will play, and should be 100 percent. 

The team will also have Brandon Browner, Dont'a Hightower and Brandon LaFell. All three players were also listed as probable heading into the contest.

(1/16/2015) As the Patriots gear up for Sunday's AFC Championship game vs. Indianapolis, the team has listed linebacker Dont'a Hightower (shoulder), wide receiver Brandon LaFell (shoulder, toe) and cornerback Brandon Browner (knee) as questionable on the injury report. All three players were limited in practice Friday.

Defensive tackle Chris Jones (elbow) was the only other Patriots' player listed as questionable. Center Bryan Stork has been ruled out due to a knee injury, while quarterback Tom Brady is probable with an ankle injury.

The Patriots are 6 1/2-point favorites for Sunday's game.


Patriots WR Brandon LaFell limited in practice Thursday

(1/15/2015) Wide receiver Brandon LaFell was one of four Patriots players limited in practice Thursday, but he doesn't anticipate his toe and shoulder injuries keeping him out of Sunday's AFC Championship game, NESN.com reports.

"At this time of year, everybody’s banged up," LaFell said. "So when you think about sitting out, you think about all of them hard days you put in in camp, OTAs and you’re like, ‘I didn’t do all of that work six-to-seven months ago to sit out now.’ So no matter what injury (anybody’s) got in this locker room, they’re going to play through."

Defensive lineman Chris Jones (elbow), linebacker Dont'a Hightower (shoulder) and cornerback Brandon Browner (ankle) were also limited in practice Thursday. Quarterback Tom Brady (ankle) was able to practice in full.

New England is a 6 1/2-point favorite for Sunday's home game against Indianapolis.


Patriots' inactives filled with stars on both sides of the ball

(12/28/2014) The Patriots have listed the following players as inactive for Sunday's game against the Bills: Dan Connolly, Sebastian Vollmer, Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski, Jonas Gray, Dont'a Hightower and Brandon Browner.

Gray missed Friday's practice while dealing with an ankle injury and was ruled out for the game. 

Browner (groin) and Hightower (shoulder) were both questionable coming into the contest.

The Patriots have also clinched a first-round bye and home-field advantage throughout the playoffs.

Quarterback Tom Brady (ankle) was the only player on the report listed as probable, while running back Jonas Gray (ankle) and cornerback Alfonzo Dennard (hamstring) were ruled out. The rest were deemed questionable.

(12/12/2014) Patriots defensive lineman Dominique Easley is out for Sunday's game against the Dolphins with a knee injury. The Boston Herald reported earlier in the day the team is considering placing Easley on injured-reserve to have him healthy in 2015.

The Patriots had a lengthy list of questionable players on the team's final injury report, including inactives Fleming, Hightower and Jones. Chris White was doubtful to play in Week 14. The team had seven other questionable players as well as two probables, and all nine of those players are active.

Brady was listed as probable on the team's injury report due to an ankle injury. The team will also have Brandon Browner , Jamie Collins, Dont'a Hightower and Devin McCourty for the contest. All four players were also considered probable coming into the game.

Shane Vereen was a late addition to the report because of an illness. He missed practice Friday and was labeled questionable. Dan Connolly (concussion), Dominique Easley (shoulder, knee), Nate Ebner (finger), Cameron Fleming (finger), Matthew Slater (shoulder) and Bryan Stork (concussion) were deemed questionable.

Meanwhile, Tom Brady (ankle), Brandon Browner (ankle), Jamie Collins (thigh), Dont'a Hightower (knee) and Devin McCourty (rib) were all full participants in Friday's practice session and officially ruled probable for Sunday.

Brandon Browner , Jamie Collins, Dominique Easley, Dont'a Hightower and Matthew Slater are all active for the contest. All five players were listed as questionable coming into the game.

(10/14/2014) Patriots linebacker Dont'a Hightower (knee) is hopeful he'll be able to return Thursday for his team's Week 7 matchup with the Jets, ESPN.com reports.

"I’m just doing what I can. Everything is holding up pretty well still. Still doing treatment, rehab, doing everything I need to do," Hightower said. "Do I think I’m going to be able to play Thursday? Again, that’s day to day. I’m holding up. All I can do is what they ask me to do and I’ll be doing it. Hopefully I’ll be out there."

Hightower missed last week's win over the Bills but was able to practice in limited fashion Tuesday. He is set to assume a bigger role on defense with Jerod Mayo lost for the season.
