Glover Quin comes down with first INT of season

(9/9/2014) Lions defensive back Glover Quin came down with an interception in Monday's season opener against the Giants. Quin picked off Eli Manning in the third quarter. He finished with five tackles (four solo) and two defended passes in a 35-14 defeat.

Glover Quin has minor ankle surgery

(2/21/2014) Lions safety Glover Quin had a small surgical procedure to relieve pain in his ankle, reports the team's official website.

Quin said the surgery was minor, but he said he needed to procedure because the ankle wasn't getting any better. Quin played all 16 games for the Lions in 2013 and finished with 57 tackles (44 solo), three interceptions and two sacks.


Lions allow zero touchdowns, but make no big plays

(12/17/2013) The Lions DST allowed no touchdowns in the Week 15 loss to Baltimore, but the unit was not very disruptive. Detroit produced one sack and no turnovers in the 18-16 loss.

The Lions held Baltimore to 305 total yards and 4-of-14 third-down conversions. Safety Glover Quin registered the lone sack, his second this season, for a 7-yard loss.

The Lions DST should have better luck Week 16 vs. the turnover-prone Giants.


Three Lions probable entering Week 13

(11/27/2013) Lions S Louis Delmas, S Glover Quin and DE Israel Idonije are probable Week 13 against the Packers.

Delmas has been dealing with a knee injury for weeks, but always ends up playing on Sunday. Quin was limited in practice Wednesday due to an ankle injury. Idonije also has a knee injury, but was able to practice in full Wednesday.

Among players listed on the injury report on the defensive side of the ball, all seven players were able to take the field. They include: defensive linemen Ezekiel Ansah (abdomen) and Israel Idonije (hamstring); defensive backs Louis Delmas (knee), Chris Houston (hamstring), Rashean Mathis (head) and Glover Quin (ankle); and linebacker Ashlee Palmer (ankle).

(10/1/2013) Lions safety Louis Delmas, who had two interceptions and two great open-field tackles in the win over Chicago, is playing better thanks to the arrival of safety Glover Quin.

"The key has been the acquisition of No. 27 and the kind of football player he is," defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham told the team's website, referring to Quin. "He's very unselfish. He's a system guy. He plays within the scheme. He's got great eyes. And Lou has noticed that too."

Opposing quarterbacks have a combined passer rating of 69.4 against the Lions, who visit Green Bay in Week 5.

(9/8/2013) Lions defensive back Glover Quin is halfway to his interception total from last season after just one game, as he picked off Christian Ponder once in Sunday's 34-24 Week 1 win of the Vikings. 

Quin was one of three Lions to pick off a pass in the game, and he had the longest return, at 15 yards. Quin added two solo tackles, including one for a loss, in the game.

As expected, Ryan Broyles, Louis Delmas, Glover Quin, Ndamukong Suh, Corey Williams and John Wendling were held out. Rookie defensive lineman Ezekiel Ansah (undisclosed) and running back Montell Owens (knee) were held out due to injuries.

(8/22/2013) Lions safety Glover Quin was forced to leave Thursday's preseason game against the Patriots in the first half, due to a hip injury. He was officially questionable to return, but the team did not take a chance of him suffering further issues. He was spotted standing on the sidelines after suffering the injury.

Quinn signed with the Lions this offseason and is expected to start in the regular season, assuming the injury does not prove serious.

(7/8/2013) Free agent safety Glover Quin has been with the Lions for just a few months, but he's already made a strong impression on defensive coordinator Gunther Cunningham, according to the Detroit Free Press.

"He is something," Cunningham said. "We had a meeting the other day and I turned to (vice president of pro personnel) Sheldon White and I said, ‘Quin.’ He goes, ‘Professional.’ I said, ‘That’s the best description I’ve ever heard.’ That’s him. All about business every day."

(3/13/2013) Glover Quin has signed a deal with the Lions, ESPN reported Wednesday. The cornerback-turned-free safety is expected to start right away for the Lions.
