Ravens receive small offensive contributions

(12/22/2013) A few Ravens made small offensive contributions Week 16. Tight ends Dennis Pitta and Ed Dickson each finished the game with four grabs. Pitta had 34 yards while Dickson had 44 yards.

Wide receiver Marlon Brown also chipped in with four receptions for 51 yards on seven targets. Vonta Leach had one catch for 1 yard. Running back Bernard Pierce rushed for 31 yards on 10 carries and caught three of his five targets for 27 yards. Bernard Scott had two carries for 11 yards and one catch for 2 yards. Tandon Doss was targeted once but held without a grab in a 41-7 defeat.

The two big surprises on the list are Ngata and Stokley. Ngata was unable to practice all week. Stokley was listed as probable heading into the game.

(11/15/2013) The struggling Ravens ground game could receive an infusion of new blood soon. Running back Bernard Scott, whom they signed on Oct. 28, has been inactive for two games, but might not be in the near future.

John Harbaugh said that Scott has "progressed very well and could be active in the coming weeks," the Baltimore Sun has reported.

The former Bengal with a career YPC of 4.1 said he has learned enough of the playbook to be ready if called upon. The Ravens can use all the help they can get. They are averaging 2.8 YPC this season to rank 30th in the NFL.

(11/3/2013) Ravens starting guard Kelechi Osemele, who is out for the year with a back injury, is one of three injured players on the inactive list released by the Ravens for the game Sunday in Cleveland. The others are center Ryan Jensen (foot) and wide receiver Brandon Stokley (thigh).

The rest of the inactives are running back Bernard Scott, linebacker John Simon, safety Brynden Trawick and defensive end DeAngelo Tyson.

(10/28/2013) The Ravens announced Monday they signed former Bengals running back Bernard Scott, who takes the roster spot vacated when Baltimore traded left tackle Bryant McKinnie to Miami. Scott missed most of the 2012 season recovering from a torn ACL and was released by Cincinnati in September.

(10/16/2013) The Ravens might be adding another Bernard to their backfield. They have worked out former Cincinnati back Bernard Scott, according to the Baltimore Sun.

Scott was limited to just eight carries for 35 yards last year for the Bengals, who released him before this season. Scott, who has rushed for 1,035 yards in four seasons, would join Ray Rice and namesake Bernard Pierce as Ravens running backs if signed.

(8/31/2013) The Bengals have announced that veteran offensive lineman Dennis Roland, who started 24 games for them in 2009 and 2010, has been waived.

The move was one of many cuts by the team on Saturday. The following players have also been released: wide receivers Cobi Hamilton, Taveon Rogers and Roy Roundtree, linebackers Bruce Taylor and J.K. Schaffer, cornerbacks Chris Lewis-Harris, Onterio McCalebb and Shaun Prater, offensive tackle Reid Fragel, safety Tony Dye, halfback Dan Herron, center T.J. Johnson, defensive end Dontay Moch, quarterback John Skelton, defensive tackle Terrence Stephens and guard John Sullen.

The Bengals also placed running back Bernard Scott (knee) on the Reserve/PUP list and linebacker Emmanuel Lamur (shoulder) on the Reserve/Injured list.

(8/24/2013) As expected, Bengals wide receiver Andrew Hawkins was ruled inactive for Saturday's preseason game against the Cowboys as he continues to nurse an ankle injury, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Hawkins will remove the cast on his ankle this week, but is expected to remain in a walking boot for at least two weeks.

The following players were inactive for Saturday's game: quarterback Zac Robinson, defensive back Brandon Ghee, running back Bernard Scott, fullback Chris Pressley, safety George Iloka, linebackers Brandon Joiner and Sean Porter, offensive linemen Andrew Whitworth and Otis Hudson and defensive end Carlos Dunlap.

Scott tore his ACL last season in October, but he's expected to be ready for Week 1 if he makes the final roster. The Bengals replaced Scott when they drafted Giovani Bernard, and Scott's role will be reduced if he's on the team.
