Nine injured 49ers cleared for NFC Championship

(1/19/2014) The 49ers listed the following players as active for Sunday's NFC Championship game against the Seahawks in Seattle, despite being on the injury report: linebacker NaVorro Bowman (wrist), linebacker Ahmad Brooks (illness), wide receiver Michael Crabtree (wrist), defensive lineman Demarcus Dobbs  (knee, shoulder), running back Frank Gore (knee), defensive back Carlos Rogers (hamstring), linebacker Dan Skuta (foot), defensive lineman Justin Smith (shoulder) and defensive lineman Will Tukuafu (knee).

49ers defense in good shape for championship game

(1/17/2014) The 49ers defense should be at something close to full strength for the NFC Championship game against the Seahawks Sunday, as only two players are considered to be in doubt base on the injury report. Defensive lineman Will Tukuafu  (knee) and defensive back Carlos Rogers (hamstring) are both questionable for Sunday's game after being limited at times during the week in practice.

The remainder of the team's injury report is made up of players who are expected to play through their maladies. Defensive linemen Justin Smith (shoulder) and Demarcus Dobbs (knee, shoulder), linebackers NaVorro Bowman (wrist), Dan Skuta (foot) and Ahmad Brooks (illness) are all probable for the game. 


Five 49ers on injury report ready to play

(1/12/2014) Five 49ers listed on the team's injury are ready to go against Carolina.

Linebacker Dan Skuta was questionable due to a foot injury, but will play. NaVorro Bowman will play through a wrist issue. Defensive tackle Demarcus Dobbs was probable despite knee and shoulder issues. Center Jonathan Goodwin will also play, though he wasn't dealing with an injury. Defensive tackle Justin Smith will play through a shoulder injury.

(1/10/2014) The 49ers are quite healthy heading into their playoff clash Sunday at Carolina. Only cornerback Carlos Rogers (hamstring) and linebacker Dan Skuta (foot), who are listed as questionable, are threatened with inactivity.

The probables are linebacker NaVorro Bowman (wrist), wide receiver Michael Crabtree (wrist), defensive tackles Justin Smith (shoulder) and Demarcus Dobbs (knee, shoulder) and running back Frank Gore (knee).

(12/21/2013) The 49ers have a lengthy injury report for Week 16 against the Falcons, however they appear to be in mostly good shape on defense. Among four players listed on the injury report from the defensive side of the ball, only Dan Skuta (foot) is considered questionable.

Linebacker NaVorro Bowman (wrist), defensive back Tarell Brown (ribs) and defensive lineman Justin Smith (shoulder) are all officially probable for Monday's game.

Every player was listed as probable except Brown and Manningham, who were questionable.

(12/13/2013) The 49ers have listed WR Jon Baldwin, S Craig Dahl, DT Ray McDonald, LB Dan Skuta, LB Aldon Smith, DT Justin Smith, OL Adam Snyder and OL Joe Staley as probable Week 15.

Both Aldon and Justin Smith are dealing with shoulder injuries. Snyder is listed as a "non-injury" on the report.

Defensive lineman Ray McDonald (ankle) is questionable after being unable to practice Saturday, but the rest of the defense should be fine for Monday's game. Linebacker Dan Skuta (foot) and defensive linemen Quinton Dial (ankle) and Justin Smith (shoulder) are probable for the game.

(11/15/2013) 49ers defensive lineman Justin Smith (shoulder) should be able to play in Week 11 against the Saints, as he is listed as probable on the injury report. He is joined on the report by defensive back Tarell Brown (knee) and defensive lineman Quinton Dial (ankle), both of whom are also probable.

Linebacker Dan Skuta (foot) and defensive back Eric Reid are also on the injury report from the defensive side of the ball, and are both considered questionable.


Dan Skuta returns fumble for touchdown

(10/27/2013) 49ers linebacker Dan Skuta recovered a fumble and returned it 47 yards for a touchdown on Sunday during the Week 8 win over Jacksonville from London. Skuta's defensive touchdown game the game its final score of 42-10. 

Skuta finished the game with six tackles, all solo, with one coming for a loss. The 27-year-old linebacker scored his first career defensive touchdown in the game. He had just eight tackles entering Sunday's game from London. 


Dan Skuta to replace Aldon Smith in starting lineup

(9/23/2013) Dan Skuta is listed as a starting outside linebacker now that the 49ers have placed Aldon Smith on the reserve/non-football injury list, according to the team's website. Smith took an indefinite leave of absence to go to a rehab facility.

NFL.com reports Smith is expected to miss a month or so. Skuta has two tackles this season after making 26 stops for the Bengals last year.


Skuta to replace injured LB


(10/14/2011) Bengals LB Rey Maualuga will not play Week 6 against the Colts, according to coach Marvin Lewis. The Bengals' middle linebacker sprained his ankle in practice this week. Lewis didn't give a timetable on his return other than the fact he won't play against Indianapolis. LB Dan Skuta will earn his first career start in his place.
