News: Seattle wide receiver Charly Martin suffered a strained calf in practice on Thursday and has been placed on injured reserve. The Seahawks signed wide receiver Deon Butler to replace Martin on the roster.
Analysis: Martin caught four passes all season for 42 yards. Done for the year, he obviously has no Fantasy value remaining.
News: Seahawks wide receiver Charly Martin was promoted from the practice squad to the 53-man roster Wednesday.
Analysis: Martin was on the active roster for the first nine games, totaling four receptions for 42 yards. He is just roster depth and can be ignored in Fantasy.
News: The Seahawks released wide receiver Charly Martin Tuesday.
Analysis: Martin caught just four passes for 42 yards in four games this season and has never been much of a Fantasy option. Continue to ignore him in all formats.
News: Seahawks wide receiver Charly Martin caught two passes for 16 yards. He was targeted three times.
Analysis: Martin is the team's fourth passing option, behind Sidney Rice, Golden Tate, a healthy Doug Baldwin, and whichever running back is in the game at the time. You might even be able to squeeze Zach Miller in there, too. So this is probably his ceiling. Martin is best left to waiver wires at this time.
News: Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said Monday that wide receiver Charly Martin suffered a bruised lung in Week 1 against the Cardinals and is still in a Phoenix hospital. Martin sustained the injury tying to make a catch in the closing seconds of the game.
Analysis: Martin finished with one catch for 15 yards in the season opener and is expected to be sidelined a couple of weeks. He does not have a huge role on offense for Seattle so continue to ignore the 28-year-old in all Fantasy formats, healthy or not.
News: The Panthers have placed WR Charly Martin on IR and re-signed CB C.J. Wilson, who attended camp and has played in Carolina in the past. The move was necessitated by the status of CB Chris Gamble, who did not practice and is questioanble for Sunday.
Analysis: Martin won't play again this season, though no one in Fantasy was counting on him in the first place. Leave him off of rosters.
News: Panthers WR Charly Martin had to leave his Week 1 game at the Giants with an apparent injury and did not return. He was diagnosed with a concussion after the game.
Analysis: Martin is not a featured receiver in the Carolina offense and this injury won't help him climb the depth charts going into Week 2 against the Buccaneers. He should be avoided in all Fantasy leagues.
News: Carolina coach John Fox said in an interview with CBSSports.com at the NFL owner's meeting in Orlando, Fla., that the Panthers will continue to search for a WR to play opposite Steve Smith. Muhsin Muhammad is a free agent and is not expected to return, and Fox said the candidates to replace him are Dwayne Jarrett, Kenny Moore, Charly Martin and Wallace Wright. Moore and Martin signed their one-year tender offers as restricted free agents. "We've been in somewhat of a search for about eight years for that spot," Fox said. "It's all hands on deck. We've got some young guys there. Those players will answer that when we start OTAs and mini-camps and practices."
Analysis: Although it's unlikely, Fox wouldn't rule out a return by Muhammad. "Moose has been great for this organization," he said. "I've always appreciated him as a player and as a guy in the locker room. It's hard to predict how that's going to turn out, but he's done a lot of good things for us." As for Jarrett, Moore, Martin and Wright, they have minimal Fantasy value even if one emerges during training camp. The starter would be worth a late-round pick in deep leagues.
News: Carolina WR Charly Martin, TE Gary Barnidge and FB Tony Fiammetta all went without stats in the Week 17 win over the Saints. Backup QB A.J. Feeley did not get into the game.
Analysis: All four offensive players above have no Fantasy value heading into the 2010-11 season as they do not figure to be major parts of the Carolina offense.
News: The Panthers had four players who dressed but failed to record an offensive stat Sunday against Minnesota with kicker Rhys Lloyd, WR Charly Martin, WR Kenny Moore and backup QB A.J. Feeley.
Analysis: None of these players are worth using in any Fantasy leagues in Week 16 at the Giants. Ignore them in all formats.
News: Panthers WR Dwayne Jarrett, WR Charly Martin and QB A.J. Feeley all dressed for a Week 14 loss at New England but failed to record an offensive stat.
Analysis: None of these players have any Fantasy relevance and can continue to be ignored in all formats heading into Week 15 vs. Minnesota.
News: Carolina WR Charly Martin came down with one reception for 6 yards in the Week 13 win over Tampa Bay.
Analysis: Martin made his first catch this season after three games with the team. He has no Fantasy value in Week 14 at New England.
News: The Panthers had four players who dressed but failed to record an offensive stat Sunday at the Jets with kicker Rhys Lloyd, WR Charly Martin, RB Tyrell Sutton and backup QB Matt Moore.
Analysis: None of these players are worth using in any Fantasy leagues in Week 13 against Tampa Bay. Ignore them in all formats.
