Steelers' Troy Polamalu doubtful to play Sunday vs. Chiefs

(3:56 pm ET) The Steelers released their final injury report for Week 16’s game against the Chiefs and safety Troy Polamalu (knee) is listed as doubtful.

Cornerback Ike Taylor (shoulder) is also listed as doubtful. Tight end Matt Spaeth (elbow) is the only player listed as questionable.

The following players are listed as probable: William Gay, Marcus Gilbert, James Harrison, Steve McLendon, Heath Miller, Mike Mitchell, Maurkice Pouncey, Ben Roethlisberger and Markus Wheaton.

(12/5/2014) Steelers tackle Marcus Gilbert (ankle) was unable to practice and received the thumbs-down for Week 14 against Cincinnati. Gilbert was the only player on Pittsburgh's final injury report ruled out for Sunday. Linebacker James Harrison (knee) also missed practice all week and is unlikely to play. He was ruled as doubtful.

Nose tackle Steve McLendon (shoulder) was the only player on the report designated as questionable, while cornerback Cortez Allen (thumb), cornerback Brice McCain (hamstring), tight end Heath Miller (rest), safety Troy Polamalu (illness), quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (rest), linebacker Ryan Shazier (ankle) and cornerback Ike Taylor (shoulder) were deemed probable.

(12/3/2014) Steelers linebacker Ryan Shazier (ankle) and nose tackle Steve McLendon (shoulder) practiced fully Wednesday as the team prepared for Sunday's visit to Cincinnati. Shazier has missed three straight games, while McLendon has missed two in a row.

Both are on track to face the Bengals.

(11/28/2014) Steelers tackle Marcus Gilbert and linebacker Ryan Shazier have both been designated as questionable for the Sunday game against New Orleans. Meanwhile cornerback Cortez Allen (thumb) and nose tackle Steve McLendon have been ruled out.

The rest of those placed on the Friday injury report are probable. That group includes wide receiver Martavis Bryant (illness), cornerback Ike Taylor (forearm) and safety Shamarko Thomas (hamstring).

(11/25/2014) Steelers coach Mike Tomlin told reporters that the team will watch linebacker Ryan Shazier and defensive lineman Steve McLendon "closely" during practice leading up to Sunday's showdown against the Saints in Week 13, per the team's official website. Shazier missed the previous two games because of an ankle injury. McLendon sat out Week 11 due to a shoulder injury.

(9/22/2014) The Steelers DST enjoyed itself Sunday night in Carolina, producing three sacks, two turnovers and a touchdown in a 37-19 win.

The biggest play came early in the fourth quarter when the Panthers' Philly Brown fumbled on a punt return and safety Robert Golden recovered in the end zone. It was one of two fumble recoveries for Pittsburgh, which got a sack-fumble from outside linebacker Jarvis Jones.

Linebacker Arthur Moats and nose tackle Steve McLendon also sacked Cam Newton. Pittsburgh allowed just 42 rushing yards in what was easily its top defensive performance this year.

The Steelers DST has a chance to dominate again Week 4 against the lowly Buccaneers.

McLendon is dealing with a shoulder injury. He was initially ruled questionable to return, but was downgraded to out after being examined. McLendon was listed on the injury report as probable due to a stinger. 


Stud Steelers ready to go Week 2

(9/11/2014) The Steelers will go into Week 2 with all of their stud offensive players. 

A number of important players entered the week listed as probable on the injury report. Nearly all of them are active Week 2 against the Steelers. Le'Veon Bell, Antonio Brown, Heath Miller, Ben Roethlisberger, Cody Wallace and Markus Wheaton were all cleared to play. While they were all on the injury report, only Wallace was dealing with an injury. The rest missed practice for non-injury reasons. 

On defense, the Steelers will have Brett Keisel, Steve McLendon, Troy Polamalu, Ike Taylor, Shamarko Thomas and Vince Williams. Wallace was dealing with an ankle issue, but the rest were listed for non-injury reasons.
