Darrel Young leaves with undisclosed injury

(9/14/2014) Redskins running back Darrel Young made an impact in Week 2 against the Jaguars, before he was forced to leave the 41-10 win with an undisclosed injury.

Young was responsible for a few of the bigger plays in the game, as he picked up 19 yards on his lone run and hauled in two passes for 27 yards. His biggest contribution came on a first-quarter touchdown, as he lined up out wide and scored on a 20-yard reception.

Unfortunately, Young was the recipient of a late hit on a fourth-quarter reception that forced him from the game. The extent and nature of the injury was not revealed by the team. 


Darrel Young tallies fifth career rushing TD Week 1

(9/7/2014) Redskins fullback Darrel Young received just one carry Week 1 at Houston, but he made it count, as his 1-yard touchdown run in the second quarter were the only points Washington would tally in a 17-6 loss. It was the fifth rushing touchdown of Young's career.

He also had 1-yard catch in the loss. The Redskins host the Jaguars Week 2.

Kerrigan is dealing with a wrist injury, but fully participated in pratice Thursday and Friday. Young has a hamstring issue.


Washington's backup pass catchers do little Week 16

(12/22/2013) Washington WR Aldrick Robinson, WR Santana Moss, WR Josh Gordon and FB Darrel Young did little against the Cowboys Week 16.

Robinson caught one pass for 14 yards. Moss caught two passes, but picked up 13 yards. Morgan did not catch a pass, but did gain 4 yards on a rushing attempt. Young had two receptions for 5 yards. They'll take on the Giants Week 17.

Cornerback E.J. Biggers, OL Trent Williams and RB Darrel Young are all active Week 16. Both Biggers and Williams were listed as probable. Young was questionable with a hamstring injury.

Young has four touchdowns this season, three coming Week 9 against the Chargers.

All but Robinson were able to fully participate in practice every day this week. Robinson was limited Wednesday, but practiced in full Thursday and Friday.

Grossman, Minnifield, Jenkins and LeRibeus are all healthy scratches.

Darrel Young gets back in the end zone

(11/17/2013) Redskins fullback Darrel Young, who surprised with three rushing touchdowns back in Week 9, got back in the end zone Week 11 at Philadelphia. This time, though, he did it through the air, catching an intermediate pass from quarterback Robert Griffin III and beating two defenders for a 62-yard score.

It was Young's only catch of the day and only his second on the season. He also had two carries for 6 yards.


Roy Helu, Darrel Young not involved Week 10

(11/8/2013) Redskins running back Roy Helu and fullback Darrel Young each has a three-touchdown game under his belt this season. Unfortunately, they didn't see their named called many times during the Week 10 loss at Minnesota Thursday night. 

Helu saw just two carries in the game for 8 yards. He did catch three passes -- mostly late -- for 23 yards on four targets. Young saw one carry and did not gain a yard. He was targeted once in the end zone, but couldn't come close to catching the ball. The Redskins play at Philadelphia during the Week 11 game Sunday. 


Darrel Young scores three touchdowns

(11/3/2013) Redskins fullback Darrel Young had one career touchdown entering Sunday's Week 9 home game against San Diego. Now he has four. 

Young's third rushing touchdown of the game came in overtime for the game-winning score from 4 yards out. Washington kept giving him the ball in short-yardage situations and he kept producing. 

Young scored a 1-yard touchdown in the third quarter and added another early in the fourth. He finished the game with five carries for 12 yards and the three scores. His longest run went for 4 yards. Starter Alfred Morris rushed 25 times for 121 yards and a touchdown in the game. 

Washington plays Minnesota on Thursday of Week 10 and Young is not expected to see many touches in that game. 


Darrel Young sees a carry

Redskins get minor production from several role players

(10/14/2013) The Redskins received minor offensive contributions from a few role players Week 6 against the Cowboys.

Fullback Darrel Young broke for a 19-yard run late in the fourth quarter for his only action of the night. Wide receiver Josh Morgan caught a 6-yard pass in the fourth quarter for his only gain of the game. Tight ends Fred Davis and Logan Paulsen were not targeted and took a backseat to Jordan Reed, who had four catches for 58 yards.


Redskins drop some passes

(9/10/2013) Redskins wide receiver Aldrick Robinson and fullback Darrel Young failed to record a carry or a catch during the Week 1 Monday night loss at home to the Eagles. 

Robinson was targeted twice in the passing game by quarterback Robert Griffin III, dropping both passes. Young could not connect on the only target that came his way. 

These players can sometimes find the end zone for the Redskins in the odd game, but neither contributes on a consistent basis. The Redskins play at Green Bay Week 2. 


Redskins work on deal with Young

(3/5/2013) The Washington Examiner reports that the Redskins have discussed a multi-year deal with fullback Darrel Young. If they don't come to an agreement, he likely would receive the right-of-first-refusal tender offer worth $1.323 million. Because he was an undrafted free agent, the Redskins would receive no compensation if he left, but they would have seven days to match any offer.
