Harper, Cotchery among Panthers' probables for Week 11

(11/14/2014) The Panthers unveiled a lengthy injury report for Sunday's game against Atlanta. Out of the 13 players listed on the report, Star Lotulelei (ankle) was the only player ruled out for Week 11. Bene Benwikere (ankle), Brandon Williams (foot) and Charles Johnson (rest) were labeled questionable.

The following players were deemed probable: Nate Chandler (toe), Jerricho Cotchery (hamstring), Roman Harper (rest), Kawann Short (ankle), Jonathan Stewart (ankle), Trai Turner (ankle), Melvin White (knee) and DeAngelo Williams (foot).


Two questionable for Panthers with Sunday game looming

(10/3/2014) Defensive end Charles Johnson (hip) is one of two Panthers deemed questionable for the Sunday battle against visiting Chicago. The other is tight end Ed Dickson, who is also dealing with a hip issue.

Ruled out are tight end Richie Brockel (ankle) and running back DeAngelo Williams. Fellow running back Jonathan Stewart (knee) is doubtful while linebacker Thomas Davis (hip), cornerback Melvin White (thigh) and running back Fozzy Whittaker (thigh) are all probable.

(9/29/2014) Panthers coach Ron Rivera announced Monday cornerback Josh Norman will start Week 5 against the Bears alongside Antonie Cason. Norman will be replacing Melvin White in the starting lineup at cornerback.

Panthers defense has quality performance

(12/29/2013) The Panthers defense played well Sunday in Week 17 at Atlanta, highlighted by nine sacks in a 21-20 victory.

The leader of the defense was Greg Hardy with four sacks. Charles Johnson also added two sacks. Melvin White also had an interception for a touchdown.

The Panthers are off until the Divisional Round of the playoffs. They locked up the No. 2 seed in the NFC and a first-round bye after winning the NFC South title.

(10/18/2013) Panthers RB Kenjon Barner, S Robert Lester and CB Melvin White are considered probable for Week 7 against the Rams.

Both Barner and Lester were able to practice in full all week. White was limited during Thursday's practice with concussion symptoms. 


Panthers shuffling lineup at cornerback

(10/2/2013) Panthers coach Ron Rivera said cornerback Josh Thomas will return to the starting lineup Week 5 at Arizona after sitting out Week 3 vs. N.Y. Giants with a concussion. Though, Rivera said Melvin White and Drayton Florence will remain in the mix for playing time.

"We’re not going to forget about the other guys. White and Florence have to play, they need opportunities," he said.


Panthers defenders shine in shutout win Week 3

(9/23/2013) The Panthers tied a franchise record with seven sacks during a 38-0 win Week 3 vs. N.Y. Giants. Greg Hardy led the charge with three sacks, but Thomas Davis, Charles Johnson, Kawann Short and Star Lotulelei each had one.

Davis finished with five tackles (two solo), Johnson had four tackles (two solo) and three quarterback hits, Short had four tackles (two solo) and Lotulelei had two tackles (one solo).

Robert Lester and Melvin White each had an interception. Lester had five tackles (three solo), and White finished with two solo tackles and also forced a fumble.

Linebacker Luke Kuechly was second on the team with six tackles (one solo), which trailed Hardy's team-high eight tackles.
