Ravens make roster moves

(12/30/2013) The Ravens signed eight practice squad members to reserve-future deals: tight end Matt Furstenburg, wideout Kamar Aiken, defensive tackle Cody Larsen, offensive tackle David Mims, tight end Nathan Overbay, receiver Gerrard Sheppard, quarterback Nick Stephens and center Reggie Stephens.

Those players are signed for the 2014 season even though the season does not officially begin until the start of the league's new year. The deals enable the players to keep working with the team, giving them a better chance to compete for roster spots.


Texans make roster moves

(9/17/2013) The Texans waived fullback Zach Boren and signed tight end Nathan Overbay to their practice squad, reports the Houston Chronicle.

Steelers announce long list of cuts

(8/31/2013) Jonathan Dwyer was the only surprising cut by the Steelers on Saturday. Here is the list of the others: punter Brian Moorman, running back Alvester Alexander, defensive linemen Alameda Ta'amu and Brian Arnfelt, linebackers Alan Baxter, Terence Garvin, Marshall McFadden and Brian Rolle, wide receivers Justin Brown, Reggie Dunn and Kashif Moore, offensive linemen Mike Golic, Christopher Hubbard, Joe Long and Joe Madsen, tight ends Jamie McCoy and Nathan Overbay, and defensive backs Devin Smith, Terry Hawthorne, Ross Ventrone and Josh Victorian.

Among the notables was Rolle, who is the brother of more accomplished NFL players Antrel and Samari, and Golic, whose namesake father starred with the Eagles and is now an ESPN sports talk show host.


Bucs make final cuts


(9/3/2011) The Bucs, along with most of the NFL, made their final cuts on Saturday before the deadline. Among the casualties were RB Armando Allen Jr., S Ahmad Black, QB Rudy Carpenter, QB Jonathan Crompton, WR Ed Gant, TE Daniel Hardy, S Dominique Harris, LB Brandon Heath, LB Simoni Lawrence, RB Mossis Madu, DE Alex Magee, TE Nathan Overbay, WR Maurice Price (Injury Settlement), TE Ryan Purvis, FB/LB Nick Reveiz, K Jacob Rogers, LB Derrell Smith and DT Al Woods.

Overbay promoted off practice squad


(12/20/2010) Buccaneers TE Nathan Overbay, an undrafted rookie free agent, has been promoted to the active roster from the practice squad, the team announced Monday. Overbay joined the Bucs practice squad in October after being released from Miami's practice squad on September 14.

Dolphins have practice squad


(9/6/2010) Miami reported the make up of its practice squad on Monday and it is as follows: S Jonathan Amaya, DE Ryan Baker, G Ray Feinga, LB Chris McCoy, TE Nathan Overbay, WR Julius Pruitt and LB Austin Spitler. The Dolphins can sign one more player.

Broncos cut seven on Friday


(9/3/2010) The Denver Broncos waived seven players on Friday and placed injured running back LenDale White (Achilles') on injured reserve.The biggest surprise on the list of seven cuts was seventh-round draft pick Jammie Kirlew, a linebacker from Indiana. Others who were waived are: wide receiver Alric Arnett, nose tackle Chris Baker, offensive lineman Paul Duncan, tight ends Nathan Overbay and Kory Sperry and linebacker Johnny Williams.
